Good morning good morning Daff and all:-) tsk tsk the aspidestra hasn't been watered and Mammidau's rug needs a clean..has someone been partying on here during the night? Must have been our Australian friends...lol..

Hope you have another energy filled day Daff, am very inclined to linger in my bed these mornings. I have added three things to my Wish List which I keep on my kitchen wall so I can see it every day, and it is wonderful to put a tick beside something which has come about.

Off to park now, hope you are adjusting to your glasses Ann.

Good morning. Slowly adjusting to glasses, I have had them on now for an hour and a half. We were up really late this morning, neither of us slept that well, then we slept in, thank goodness for being retired. I just couldn't get to sleep - think I had an overactive brain when I went to bed Lol!!! Then, when we got up to do the nocturnal walkabout we looked out the window and spent 10 minutes watching our usual foxy visitor eating scraps off the lawn across the road. he/she (although I am sure it is a he) is a magnificent specimen and seems to know exactly where he is going and last night little black cat was not around to chase him off. Isn't it typical that the one week we have filled our bin with stuff we have cleared out, the bin men don't make it!!!

Just booked a week in Jersey end of August to celebrate our Golden wedding, so that is something to look forward to. Hotel that we have been to before, on a bus route so no need to hire a car. Of course like all UK hotels it isn't cheap but just this once!!

Hello everyone, Daff your good news is great, lovely to hear some good news for a change. You put me to shame with your scrapping, I cant get near my stuff, for bags of grit, the back of the house which we all use as our front doors is still like ice, hence the grit...but I havent been idle ,I have been baking .... 20 sultana scones yesterday, and this morning I have made two cheese and onion pies, and three mini quiches.cant do anymore though , no flour sr or plain, and I buy large boxes of pastry mix so thats all gone too....I lost touch with baking when I wasnt too well, but I am slowly getting back to it now...I love the smell of home baking....mmm.....

Ann, we went away for our Golden wedding, so I am sure you will have a lovely time and lovely memories.....

Love Jean xx

By the way what did Littley's Mum think of her efforts in her scrap book?

Jean will you stop putting us to shame with all this baking!!!

Evening all... sorry, a bit late, I know, but I have been sooooo busy!!

Ann, Mummy loved it.... it was a prezzie to kill for, to be honest.... I would have loved one like that when mine were small... I do have some of their etchings, but not many...

Jean, I used to be an excellent pastry maker, even though I say so myself... but was never very good at scones and cakes. Once my hands started to be warm rather than freezing all the time... well, my pastry skills took a nosedive.

Takes a bit of time to get back into the swing, Maz, doesn't it!

Jude, so pleased to hear Madoc's news.... you must all be so relieved... well, except Madoc, bless him, he sounds as though he is oblivious!! Just getting on with having fun!

BC, my list is huge... well, I do have an alternative, and that just has one thing on it... enough of a win on something, anything, to pay someone to do all the jobs I hate, lol

It has been snowing quite heavily here.... slowed down now, but steady, and sticking.... I have fed all the birds... the starlings have found us... they are real thugs, aren't they?? Mind, the robin seems to sort them all out!
Must go and sort out dinner... Back in a mo.....

Love

Morning Maz, mind how you go:-) and morning everyone else:-) Snowing here in London, at the moment it looks quite pretty but am not looking forward to the park walk! It's my morning off so I have lots of things to catch up with, like dealing with leaking loo and the boiler needs a check up. I'm giving the slow cooker a break, Daff, as yesterday I used up a load of vegs and put a piece of salmon in. The smell got to me so the dog loved it! lol

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing and isn't it wonderful news about Eddie being home! He will have lots of loving care.

BC I have not cooked fish in the slow cooker for that very reason, hate the smell of cooked fish and it does linger so. I don't mind the smell of stew or something cooking though, just fish.

We have had another light fall of snow but I think it is sleet coming down now.

JustJean

JustJean Report 13 Jan 2010 10:52

Ann, B.C. a good way to cook fish with no smell is to use Zip,n,Steam bags. salmon takes only a few minutets, I think you can buy them from the super markets, I get mine on e-bay as we use a lot.It tells you how to use and times on the bag...

we have had no more snow but it is very cold and very icy, I have now got a heavy cold , cant remember the last time I had one, we had our flu jabs as usual, J had the swine flu one too... colds have always gone on my chest for many years and true to form , I am coughing for England now....so another excuse to stay put....

~~~~~~~~ to Daff ~~~~~ and everyone
Do you use steam bags in the microwave Jean. I cook salmon for 5 minutes in the microwave when I am going to use it in fish pasta, fish pie etc.
Stay well in the warm with plenty of hot drinks, have you got blackcurrant? I like that when I have a cough. Get well soon.
hi all! wetll, we're all home again! OH isn't very well, H has no school, I can't get to work, so O home too! we're watching one of our dinosaurs is missing! haven't seen it for years!
Hope you are all staying safe and warm....We've been out and cleared outside our house, neighbours remedy was to throw water down.....so we cleared it before it froze, or became even more slippery! other side's driveway also cleared by me and OH!
take care everyone, xxx
JustJean
JustJean Report 13 Jan 2010 11:38
Yes Ann, we do our veg in the bags too, as we like them a bit crunchie, J likes them softer.
so we do some in a pan sometimes just to keep him happy...
I have a cough bottle that is vile to take, but works so well, Pulma Bailey. the smell can put you off too, but add some water and down it quick , then have another drink of water. it the best we ever had....I have suffered with broncial problems for many years, and spent many days in bed and hospital, but when I started with the flu jabs and the broncial one, I have not had any problems up to now.... J has done some shopping for me, and he is a canny shopper, came back with loads of offers, so he has the job for life now....lol....
Evening all... another late start, lol... I didn't get up until 11.30... I slept well, most of the night, was in bed early, had a pit stop and a two hour period when I couldn't get comfy... then all of a sudden, just as I was about to get up at 7am... there it was, 11.30!! So I was totally refreshed, and feeling great!
I have been busy... took some photos... there are birds in them there trees, lol, but I'll be blowed if I can find them in the pictures... think I have to get another lens, lol
Then I finished off the washing.... ironed a couple of tablecloths and put them away ready for next Christmas, lol..... read a magazine... wow, there is some beautiful scrapwork in it!! And then just pottered around... I have made a start on cleaning the cooker..... but it will take a couple of good attacks at it... it hasn't been done properly since just before I was ill.... just wiped over... I use one of those eco cloths, and they are very very good... but with so many layers, it'll take longer than usual.
R went and collected my prescription for me... first time he has done it with these tablets... he made me giggle, he said he felt like a drug dealer walking back with them... they had 3 labels on them saying *controlled drugs* lolol
I did loads more.... but can't think what on earth it was altogether!!
Mummo, I am thrilled to bits for you and Eddie...
Mammiddau, I hope OH is feeling better soon.... the weather looks as though it will start improving tomorrow, so with luck everything will be back to normal by the weekend.
Jean, I hope you feel better soon.... colds almost always go straight to my chest, too, so I know how you feel... it would take 3 months for the cough to go, and then I'd get another cold, lol.... just take it easy and keep taking the cough mixture..... vile stuff has got to be more efficacious, just cos it is so vile, lol!!
Fish doesn't smell at all, lol.... thank goodness! We had fish, potato and vegetable bake yesterday, and it was scrummy... there is enough for today, as well, so we shall have that soon.
My tummy is rumbling, so I must go and put it in the microwave.
Love
