Evening everyone.... omgoodness, what a lovely couple of days!!

Happy New Year to you all... Blwyddyn Newydd dda... Ginnie,,, love your new name...

BC... made up or not.... I love it.... and shall make sure that at the very least the smile is on my face....

Ann....thank you..... 2010, will be wonderful... I can feel it in my waters, lol..... even last year was mostly good... lots of high spots in spite of all that was going on... this year will be just so special... I am now Granny to a delightfully naughty almost 6 year old boy... who has told his mummy that she must marry X (Son number 2) so that Grampy and granny can be his for good for his birthday in March, lol...... bless him! And I have even needed to play the wicked witch and tell him off, lol He still loves me... him and his new grampy are playing on the wii at the moment... very competitive.. *grandson* is wopping Grampy at bowls, lol

~~~~ to Maz..... fairly quiet here, too.... although we did have the usual smattering of fireworks... each family had a reduced amont so it took 5 minutes for the display to finish, rather than the hour or so in previous years.
Jean... I love soda bread.... haven't had it for years! I saw those fleeces as well... I might go and get one in a week or so. Hope you enjoyed your muffins.
Mau... I understood that, lolol!! xxxxxxx
Blue Moon.... that is such a lovely expression, too....... I had a lot of hands stretched out to me last year, didn't I? Thank you so much for all the poems, ditties and pithy comments.... gave me many a giggle, lol
Liz, I hope that this year brings you a new start, and better health, take care xxxxx
Love and hugs
Is mise (for BC)
Daff xxxxxx
Good morning, a frosty one today but lovely and sunny.
I think our tree will come down tomorrow Maz, don't like doing it because everything will look drab afterwards but it has to be done.
Good morning. Lovely bright, frosty day here, I can't believe how late I get up in the mornings when alarm clock is not set. Lovely:-) For the first time ever I have taken down my cards, etc before 12th night as I am in such a hurry to get into 2010 in spite of the fact that about 40 years ago an astrologer in Singapore said it would be the year of my demise! lol
Off to park now then more stuff to get rid of. Am so proud of the spaces I am gaining by throwing things out!
Hi, everyone, I cant believe how much snow we have in so short a pace of
time when I got up at 7.30 this morning we had no snow at all now we hare unable to get out without it covering our shoes, I took some pics and the car
has about 6/7 inches on the roof it was clear earlier.the size of the snow flakes remind me if the very bad winter we had in 1947 and 1963, everthing grinded to a halt....the sky looks heavy with snow and is falling thick and fast...hope you are all o.k. it seems to be mainly in the north of England. so take extra care and dont go out unless its essential....
Hellllllooooooooo!! It has been beautiful here... crisp and frosty start, but with the sun making everything sparkly and magical. The sun is still shining, too, with clear blue skies....
me and the three children were up first, had brekkie, then cleared the table and painted, coloured and glittered until other grown-ups began to emerge.... we have had a leisurely morning, cooking a brunch, playing on the wii......
my granddaughter has a very competitive streak, you should have seen her, daddy, grampy and Uncle B battling for pole position in the archery!! It was hysterically funny, lolol..... three guys six foot plus pitting their skills against a miniscule almost 5 year old.... the four looker-onners became cheerleaders, I am afraid, lol.... very loud cheerleaders, at that, and we had to draw straws so there was no favouritism... my competitor was the winner, lol.... but that is because she had the loudest cheerleader, I am sure!!
Brunch was only slightly cremated as a result of all this frivolity!!
They have gone now... but we have had a lovely couple of days... it would have been even better if S could have been with us as well, but it was still wonderful. As is the silence, lol... I am going to take myself off to bed for an hour soon..... much as I have loved the last week or so, it has been very very busy, to say the least.
I am wondering whether to get a Wii for ourselves... it was such good fun, and the sort of thing that is definitely better the more there are playing or cheerleading.... and age doesn't matter at all, does it? I have some wonderful photos of my three men trying to nobble each other New Years' Eve... they were playing together in a way they haven't done since the boys were small, tickling and giggling and pulling faces. lol
Have a wonderful day everyone.... Jean, I do hope you are not snowed in for tooo long!
I shall take my decorations down on Monday, I think..... I always find taking them down very sad... but I am quite excited about this new year too... it will be absolutely wonderful, I am sure of it.
Off I go... see you all later, have a brilliant day xxx
Love
AnninGlos Report 2 Jan 2010 14:52
Well Daff, we have a Wii, and lots of games and never play them now if that is any help. You may be better than us but I have always hated and been bad at sport so it was no surprise to find that the novelty wore off.
ButtercupFields
ButtercupFields Report 2 Jan 2010 15:09
Same here, Ann, I was never allowed take part in sports since I had diptheria so walking (or dancing) is as energetic as I get! Daffy, you will enjoy the peace even though you miss the company-) Hope you are resting.
I am spitting feathers here as I popped into an Optician (not the one who did my last test) to take an eye test (had to pay, Ann, as last one was May) just to discover that my eyesight has drastically changed since last test, which leads me to believe that first Optician No 1 made a big mistake in prescription. Added to which there are two small cataracts which he should have referred me to eye hospital. Grrrr.....I want to slap him! lol
Well I feel better after that small rant but would prefer to get revenge on Opt No 1!
Other than that, the sky is still blue, and I have eaten three walnut whips...*sighs...it's stress you know....pmsl....
AnninGlos
AnninGlos Report 2 Jan 2010 15:27
BC glad you had the test done though. Not a lot to be done about the first optician though is there, hopefully you can get it all sorted now and will be able to see better. Was the first one a independent optician or a chain out of interest?
ButtercupFields
ButtercupFields Report 2 Jan 2010 16:01
He is an Independent, Ann, took over from his father a few years ago. I even went back to him to have the glasses checked out a few months ago, as I had ordered them through Glasses Direct (online), but he said they were perfect.. I think you are right though, not a lot I can do. *sighs..pity really as I fancy a little battle...lol...
MrDaff Report 2 Jan 2010 22:22
Evening all.... it is soooooo quiet here!! Blissfull, to be honest, lol... I have enjoyed the rest today.... I thought I might have been about to hit a bad day, I was sooooo exhausted when I fell into bed last night.... but I have been fine today, although I went for a rest, I didn't sleep, just sat quietly not doing a thing for an hour.... it was enough, though, and I felt better for it. I am just off to bed now.
I am all cosy in my jim jams..... family have arrived back safely, and the two newbies dropped off at their dad.... full of their wonderful time with their new adopted grampy and granny... the little boy, it has to be said, is very taken with R, as he doesn't have a *hands on* grampy of his own, bless him. Well, one has died, and he doesn't see much of the other. So he adored R almost on sight... R is very quiet, too, but was playing fee fie fo fum and chasing them around the house within minutes, lol
So he is well and truly knackered!!
BC, I'd be livid, too.... they are not cheap, are they, glasses? I shall help you think of a suitable revenge...
I was once treated rather snottily by a sales assistant in a posh frock shop in Cardiff (well, I was a Social Work student wearing sloppy sweater, cords and yellow trucker type boots, lolol) She was bringing me cheap tat... so I pointed to a lovely gown.... which she stated was rather expensive, and might be more than I could afford, and gave me one of those sneering looks, you know?.......
I popped across, looked at the label, grinned, and left the store... returned an hour later with a stunning black velvet creation, twice the price of the *too expensive* frock,plus all the little must have accessories, smiled sweetly, and went across and took the *too expensive for me* dress off the rail.... assistant came sweeping up to me, smiled haughtily, and asked if she could help me.
I did that Julia Roberts thing, lololol.......asked if she remembered me... slammed her dress on the counter.... showed her the label/price tag.... showed her a glimpse of my new dress, and then showed her the receipt. Then said words to the effect of... are you on commission here? I do hope so.... because your attitude to me has just lost you commission not only on this sale, but any future sales I might make, as I go to about 5 or 6 posh functions a year.... then I called her a rude word.
Beautiful moment!!
So... if you would like my help in coming up with a revenge.... I'll be pleased to help, lolol
~~~~~~~~ to Mau and Maz....... you keep all safe and cozy up there, you two.... I hear it is really not very nice up there.

Ann..... lol, an under the kitchen sink buy then.... I remember you using that expression and I loved it, lol

These games seemed very gentle.... archery, canoeing and suchlike..... I was quite good at the archery..... I did it sat down, too, lol R is thinking about it, anyway Getting one, I mean.

Right.... I really am off to my bed... see you all tomorrow, sleep tight, watch the bugs don't bite!

Love
