Thank you for that, Daff, you are always such a comfort...BUT...you know the way men always look downwards when speaking to a woman with big bazookas? Well that is how people are looking at me...but at my great BIG spots!!!! pmsl....

Thankfully, my student is staying for nine days precisely, which suits me fine as am no good at having them on a long term basis. Son is only staying overnight before he goes back to Ireland. He has been walking up mountains and thingies....

Morning Daff, Mr Daff and Everyone:o))

Its a lovely day here, just hope it lasts as we are off tomorrow to sons, then Fri to Dorset for Halloween. l'm taking loads of arty farty stuff for the kids to make halloween cards etc, plus facepaint....might regret it though:o))) lol

The walls will be Tiramasu emulsion(its not dark), the carpet, 2 - 3 shades darker of tiramasu and a nice thick pile. l bought an antique mirror couple of weeks ago at the Exeter Quays shops (wow could have stayed there ALLLLL DAY). Its about 100 yrs old silver plaited on bronze or copper with decorative bits across the top. needs a real good clean, but it will go with the modern furniture (gawd l hope it does!!). You know the old glass bits and pieces you get from charity shops, sort of crystally, well l've bought a few bits of that aswell,sounds awful does'nt it??.... some are really cute with lids or handles and l'm sure they will be stunning when room is finished.......you'll all have to come for a nose sometime. We've never gone down this road before with colours etc l'm so excited:o))

Ok off to shower, sister here in an hour.

Hope all are well:o)

It all sounds great Jude. Well it will be when it is finished. Have a greatw eekend.

Went to Gloucester daff, got off the bus in London road and walked into the hospital to collect hearing aid batteries, then walked into town from there, had a coffee in Thorntons (cos they give you a choccie with it) then walked on down to the docks and The Quays. Had a wander around there. (sister has asked for a blue short sleeve cardigan for Christmas), bought some purple jeans in the M&S outlet shop and some knickers (as you do). Bought a couple of bits in Past times, then walked back into town, into M&S, still looking for said cardigan. No Luck, in to debenhams for a sandwich for lunch. Then to BHS and Wallis still looking for cardigan...... She wants a blue one, well I did not see a single short sleeve cardigan OF ANY COLOUR. I did buy myself the CD of The Soldiers Coming Home though!!

BC you are not safe let out on your own!!!

Worrying a bit about my second oldest Grandson who is at uni in Plymouth. Sounds as if he has swine flu, he sounds really poorly from his e mail, however he is a bit of a drama queen (should that be king?) so difficult to tell, but he certainly seems to have all the symptoms. His Mum and Dad are in Crete so I have said if he needs us we will go down to Plymouth. waiting to hear from him now.

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 28 Oct 2009 17:53

Oh Ann, how worrying! It iS rather difficult to work out how bad men are when they get sick, has he not got a 'swine flu buddy' who can get some medication for him.? *frets for Ann and OH.....and grandson of course!

The man I kidnapped was blind, Ann,and was weaving in and out of traffic when I rescued him! lol

Waves ~~~~~~~~~~~ to BC's *Stranger*.... Break a leg, as the saying goes... I did theatre, for a while, you know... well, make-up actually.... I had a walk on part in one production.... my one and only line was cut after the dress rehearsal. It seems I was over-acting, and I was not quasi-modo..... very important line, too, I thought!! **here is your bucket of blood, master** ;¬)) I was the ogre's housekeeper in Jack and the Beanstalk, lolol

But I did loads of other productions over the years....... *sighs*

Ann, I do hope he is ok.... and be careful yourselves, as well, if you do need to go down there.

It sounds as though you had a lovely day, though... have you looked online for that cardigan?? Sometimes the simplest sounding item can cause the most headaches to buy!!... talking of which, no.... headache is still there... how is your throat today??

Jude, that sounds lovely...... I googled the colours, lolol!! Did your suite arrive ok?

BC, he has got some tamiflu, one of his house mates got it for him apparently after J filled in an on line assessment. He says the walk in medical centre is very near and that is next to a small hospital, so if he needs to he will go there. It is only worrying because his parents are out of the country in crete.

I will probably give up on the cardigan, I have to have it by next friday as we are taking her pressies down then. I have got her lots of bits and bobs and will give her the money to buy somethinga s well.

Must dash, watching Midsummer Murders.

Huia Report 29 Oct 2009 04:08

Ann, I saw some blue cardigans in a shop today and thought of you, but then there are so many shades of blue. I went into the shop with the intention of spending up to $50 on a top for our concert if I could find one in a bright colour (no patterns), with long sleeves, cool or coolish, and fitting me - a big order to fill. So what did I do? I only bought 2 at almost $75 each but I decided I was worth it. One is violet with a drawstring neckline and shirring round the bottom, georgette with a matching satin camisole. The other also geor. with matching cam. is boysonberry (or you might call it plum or wine) with smocking round the neck and pleated sleeves. (The first one has large loose square sleeves). We have to wear the tops with black bottoms (skirt or trousers). I have never spent so much on clothes for myself before, so I hope they are cool enough. I will have to find somebody to photograph me in them so Jean can put them in the scrap book! I hope I look nice and glam. But then I dont know if that would be me.

~~~~ Hi Sue in Somerset. Welcome back.
Good moning Daff and all. A peculiar kind of morning, hazy and wam. My Spanish student (she is delightful) says when she left it was 30degrees and 'not normal' for this time of year! Son arrived, footsore and weary at midnight, he did a lot of walking in Spain, so he fell into bed. It is nice and quiet right now, only the dog trying to rustle me out the door. I had to laugh at you lines, Daff...'here is you bucket of blood, master'...I can just imagine you!
Hope you grandson is improving Ann.
oops forgot to say....my No 1 scab fell off!! pmsl
Welcome back Sue, so good to see you, hope all is well with you.
Huia, those tops sound very glamorous, yes a photo for Jean would be great. We had loads of short sleeved cardigans in the summer. But it is winter clothing in the shops now!
BC, one down, two to go. Grey here this morning and not cold. Tesco later on, what an exciting life I lead!!
MrDaff Report 29 Oct 2009 09:23
Morning all!! A bit grey and dismal here!!
*sends Ann a doleful, spaniel look (for anyone who doesn't know, I have very brown eyes, my best feature.... and they do "doleful" very well indeed, lol) I have got man flu today.... not hangover!! I am all thnotty and thniffy, my throat is sore, and I am off to the garden to eat worms, lol!!*
BC.... the others will follow no 1 scab to scab heaven very soon!! Enjoy fussing over your footsore and weary son, lol.....
And I had a real problem with the word *master*... I nearly choked on it!! The producer got her own back though.... 6 months later, her daughter's best friend smashed my foot and ankle to smithereens in an accident... it was the producer who administered first aid after throwing the inept nurse out of the way! lol
Hello Sue.... so lovely to see you again!! I am doing really well.... apart from this headcold, which is a pain.... but I shall go back to bed for an hour or so in a minute, and that often helps!
Ann....... fingers crossed that your grandson is ok...... they are much more sensible than we give them credit for, sometimes, aren't they?
Huia, they sound beautiful... and you deserve to spoil yourself, so go for it!
Right... I am going to wander around the boards for 10 minutes, and then go back to bed for an hour.... speak later
*sniffs dolefully*
Good morning Daff and All.
Absolutely cracking day here, sun's shining with a deep blue sky,it's unusually warm for this time of year,but weather reports say it's gonna change by the weekend (it will of course for the tricker/treaters)
We've bought lots of sweets & lollies for when they call,it's really nice that there are more young children living nearby us now,so 'rehearsing for being scared stiff' lol
Do hope you're feeling better soon Daff,sorry it doesn't sound nice enough for you to sit in the conservatory? get plenty of rest.
Hope your grandson gets over flu quickly Ann
Glad your son had a good time BC is he awake yet? give him my love.
When you helped actor across the road did you ask him if he knew of Charles or Isabel ;O)
.edit......oops had to return to say bye....comp. kicked me off!!
Have a lovely day everybody
No sun here today, just very grey and cloudy although quite warm
Heard from Grandson, he was feeling a bit better except for a cough which he says is painful. He is drinking plenty, taking Tamiflu and lemsips so hopefully he will shake it off soon. His Mum and Dad are back on saturday so they can take over the worrying.
How are you feeling daff, is your cold any better (or worse?)
