Yes I agree Gill. I love how a new mown lawn sets off a garden but it doesn't stay looking like that for long. We keep toying with a patch of artificial grass but it is expensive. I think it is porous AnnG as they use it on a lot of sports pitches now. OH goes to where they have them on footie pitches when the ground is sodden.

Ah yes they do.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Jan 2021 15:00

It must be porus or the would have a lake in the garden. Can you imagine a whole fotty pitch covered in water???

Burnt up all the boxes from Christmas today and picked up loads of branches and twigs that were blown off the ash tree and burnt those up too. They were all over the snowdrops and I could'nt reach some of them but I had to come in as it was well past lunch time, 1.45 to be precise. did a quick beef sandwich with soup for oh and a glass of water for me and a packet of naughty crisps. ent down a treat after working in the garden this morning.

Please your new dryer has arrived Gill. There'll be no stopping you now drying the washing.

Vaccine didn't hurt going in at all. Given a leaflet that explains all the possible side effects, mostly very minor, some can last 3 days, hopefully I won't get any, says arm could be 'heavy' and/or sore. Now have a card saying I have had it.

Excellent operation, lots of marshals in the car park, a lot looked like students, all volunteers of course, all happy and bright., notice on the door saying wait in car until appointment time. Lots of older marshals inside, Admin on the door inside the entrance hall from our surgery, Two queues alpha. But only one person in front of me, then marshals roughly every 6 feet directing until one holds you and waits for a vaccine desk to become vacant, A doctor and another admin person with a computer who checks who you are and enters it on your records, doctor asks questions re health, jabs you, writes a fifteen minute time on your leaflet and you can go to the next marshal who accompanies you to a chair that has been sanitized where you sit in front of a very large clock until your release time. All very smooth and the last bit very boring

AnninGlos Report 15 Jan 2021 15:35

Meant to say, ten minutes before we were due to leave to go for the appointment OH rang, apparently he rang yesterday but it would not connect, he says he is OK but daughter has actually had a nurse call back and he said OH was sometimes still a bit confused and sleepy, has been on liquids intraveinously for two days but off it now, thinks there might still be an infection and is going to check with the doctor if he needs antibiotics.. OH said he might call back later.

TYhats nice you have heard from T then Anng and had your first jab. sounds like they were well prepared and got you through quick as they could. I( hate the waiting bit after the flu jab, you just want to get home.

Annx Report 15 Jan 2021 21:05

I'd forgotten it was your vaccine today AnnG. Did someone take you only you said 'we'? It did sound very well organised the way it was set out and the way they got people moving through. No waiting either except the boring15 mins at the end. It's good you are hearing from T more often now. It must be confusing when you get moved around as he has and then need to get to know new staff as well.

I went out to check the greenhouse earlier Mel and thought it was much milder today. If my foot is as good again tomorrow I might prune an armful off the shrubs to stick in the garden bin. If I do it a bit at a time there won't be as much to do by Spring this year. You must look forward to your carpet of snowdrops each Spring, you have quite a lot!I It sounds like your arm has eased a bit again now.

I know it's right but it seems a bit daft to me to tell people to isolate for 10 days from the date of their symptoms rather than their test date if they have had symptoms. Anyone not wanting to isolate so long could pretend they had had symptoms 4 days before their positive test so they could go out to the shops etc 4 days earlier than otherwise and be spreading the virus.

Had a meet up on zoom with my friends this afternoon. The one whose turn it was to arrange it this time forgot what day it was till lunchtime so we all seem to be the same with one day merging into the next!

AnninGlos Report 15 Jan 2021 21:12

Ann my neighbour, the one who shops for me took me. We wore masks and I sat in the back near side with the window open. She said nobody had been in her car since she took me to collect washing back in December from Gloucester.. if we had been stopped we would have said we had formed a support bubble, allowed as she and her OH don’t have anyone going into their house, but nobody stopped us. Many cars had people taking people probably from the village volunteer group.

Annx Report 15 Jan 2021 22:50

I thought it might have been your friend AnnG. It is difficult for some people to travel to places to get their vaccines and I bet some still ignore the advice about windows down etc. My difficulty would be any queuing as I've said.

I don't seem to have been able to get on with anything much today. I started looking at laptops and research what might be best for me and OH interrupted me. Later I started working out a picture frame mount and picture frame size I want to get and OH came in and interrupted me again. I started paying a bill online and he came in discussing about lunch which was all in hand and by the time he went I was timed out on the site and had to start again. It's been the pattern of my day. As soon as he finishes his online meetings, he thinks it's time to wind down with a chat with me,even if I am in the middle of something. Then an interruption to put his eardrops in! I just waited till he'd gone to bed before I started again with picture mount sizes and blow me he got up again to come and interrupt me to discuss something to do with his work! Tomorrow he'll get told no food order will get done if he doesn't leave me alone! He'll take notice then!! Sometimes I wish he was the strong, silent type!

Lol Annx he is there!! he is there. I suspect it is the lockdown getting to you. If you have a bill to pay maybe tell him beforehand and give him a 'don't disrurb me' warning with a time limit. I do remember how aggravating it can be, men are so dependent!!

Yes at the vaccination I did see another lady carrying a shooting stick seat but she didn't need to use it. I suppose on how well organised the venue is and how they organise their bookings. When I left at 2.40 (My appointment was 2.21) after the 15 minute wait there were a lot fewer cars in the car park which was strange but it is a huge car park so maybe they were more spread out.
I did read that a lot of the queue problems were caused by the computer programme going down so I guess they all use the same programme to log the number of vaccinations. That must be frustrating.

friend said, while she was waiting standing outside her car there was a fellow going past the gate outside swearing and shouting anti vacc remarks. She is very good, she is in her early 60s and we have lived next to each other for almost 29 years without a cross word. I used to babysit her son. T has helped them out with garden information and plants when he grew too many. As we were leaving she checked with me 'have you got everything you need'. when we got back she said, 'home, go and make a cup of tea now'. And she is always giving us and now me cake she has made. She herself I think is a bit lonely, she retired two years ago and has a lot of friends but of course like everyone is stuck indoors and her OH is suffering a bit from depression since he was made redundant and failed to get another job. He just sits and is not a conversationist. I suppose she is a bit like a surrogate daughter.

Good morning everyone from a damp drizzly Gloucestershire, 7 degrees but outside does not look like gardening weather.
I don't know about you but I have no plans for today, no Tesco this week so the list can wait a few days, Maybe make a few cards.
Arm seems ok so far, a bit sore and didn't dare sleep on it. I usually turn over a few time in the night so having to stay on one side I didn't sleep that well but did get some sleep.

Hope everyone slept and all are well

Vera (big hug) <3 <3 <3 Hope your vaccinations go smoothly.

Morning AnnG morning all,

We have snow ,I got up about four for the loo and everywhere was clear ,woke just after seven and we'd had about an inch and it's been snowing since so there's a bit more added now .

AnnG that's good your jab went ok and there was no waiting and it was nice of your friend to take you .

Yesterday I had to go to boots to get our tablets ,I got to the door and it was locked the young lady opened it asked if I wanted shop floor or prescription, I said prescription she said you'll have to come back at two o'clock as we have a queue and we're now closing for two hours ,so I had to go back again ,so three goes at getting tablets talk about don't go out keep in .

Not a lot happening here ,Colin is waiting for some new rope which is coming today at lunch time it's for the wood burner door ,we had one lot come and he glued it on only for it to be to big for the door and the door wouldn't close ,we had forgotten the size we wanted, this lot is from hunters stoves and is the right stuff for the make of stove so fingers crossed it's ok.

I'm doing a nice roast chicken for tonight ,nice roadies and veg just right for this weather .

Vera hope your jab goes OK for you both sending my love to you <3

Morning Anng and all,

It rained last night heavily after a nice bright day and this morning everything is soaking wet. We do have blue sky though with big whitey clouds. We have a bit of a wind today and its very cold.

Collect the paper day and and get a few bits from the shop.

Glad your arm is not too painful this morning Anng. Does it feel like the flu jab and a bit achey today? One step nearer for you also as well as Vera.

Vera hows your jab this morning and did you get some sleep last night. Thinking of you and sending a gentle ((hug)) and love. <3

No Mandy yesterday hope she's ok.

Love and wishes to Frank and hope he is feeling better.

O you popped in before me Mandy. How annoying the rope was too big for the door of the wood burner. Its just one of those things when you order soemthing and its the wrong size so annoying.

I wonder how much snow you will get its not the kind of thing you want when you have to go out is it? Hope you get your scripts ok after another journey.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Jan 2021 11:23

We are very thin on the ground now.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 16 Jan 2021 11:32

Mel, it is a bit tender and I can feel it is there, a bit stiff but not achey, the last flu jab mine didn't ache at all, had no problems at all with it.

We have blue sky and sunshine here so, if it was not so sopping wet under foot it would be good gardening weather, 9 degrees as well. But it is very soggy out there.

Mandy hope you can eventually get your prescriptions ok, what a nuisance being turned away at the door. Hopefully you still had some left and it was no urgent.

Mandy do you (or anyone else of course) have a knitting pattern (DK wool) for a child's beanie style hat? for a 7 year old? ish. I have some double knitting wool I found in the cupboard and thought I could knit a hat to use it up and give me something different to do. All the ones I have found so far on line are chunky patterns. Preferably not knitted in the round. even if it doesn't fit great granddaughter when finished I can give it to the charity shop.

The things that oh comes out with sometimes astounds me. He has just asked me who played this tune and did a little dicker ding thing and then gave me a clue by holding up three fingers on one hand, I knew the tune but not who played it. He said it was a piano player and then told me it was Russ Conway. Then he gave me another one and put his hands out as if playing the piano and puffed his cheeks out and said it was a fat lady. Can you guess who it was?

I will never understand how his mind works with all these silly things going around in his head!!!
