Frank

Frank Report 6 Jan 2021 11:16

Good morning Annx and all, SNOW this morning. The flakes were as BIG AS MY HAND. but only lasted 5 minutes, all cleared away soon after.

Ros has taken down all the decorations (Yesterday) everywhere seems so dull now.She is now packing them in plastic box's, then back in the Garage, for another year.

I must get showered and shaved, and dressed for the hospital this afternoon.

I will try to get back after hospital, xxx

Annx Report 6 Jan 2021 11:25

Hope your hospital visit is speedy Frank with no waiting around. I know x-rays at ours are very quick. Don't forget your mask and hand sanitiser!

Why is the new keyboard difficult Mel? That's just like OH. He puts all the tins and non fridge food away then asks me where things are! lol.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 6 Jan 2021 11:56

Mel and Annx it is a man thing, easier to ask where something is than to look for it.

It is very dark and dull here and 1 degree. It did start to snow earlier but soon stopped. No frost though I don't think.

0845 OH phoned and asked me if I would like to go in and see him, I told him there was no visiting but he said a nurse had suggested it but it was just a thought if I would like it. so I told him to find out, it would be difficult because of the virus but I would look into it. Anyway daughter managed to actually get the phone answered and the nurse said that we were right, there was still a no visiting order on, she checked his details and went and spoke to him and explained and he said OK. Nurse said he was a lot better and doing well. difficult journey this, pleased to hear that he is doing well but I don't want them suddenly deciding he is well enough to come home as there is still nothing in place and there is still the falling. That is what happened before, they sent him home when he was not ready. Anyway hopefully he will phone again later.
Anyway I have sent him in some satsumas and a couple of bananas to see if he was serious when he said he wanted some fruit but couldn't get any in the hospital. (difficult to believe really). Also sent him some sugar free sweets he likes and a couple of small KitKats and clean pyjama trousers..

Island

Island Report 6 Jan 2021 13:27

Afternoon all

I didn't wake up until gone 11.30! :-0 How/why do I sleep so long?
I suppose it's because there isn't much to get up for these days :-(

Anng, thank you, my aches and pains hit hard and go quickly on the different meds so I'm usually fine the next day - unless it pops up somewhere else.

Annx, with your right foot and left knee and my left shoulder and right hand we should be ok for the okey cokey LOL Do you have special insoles?

Mel, I hope your shoulder is better or at least easier.

Frank, good luck with the xray. Was that private snow?

Anng, things sound more promising now, fingers crossed. I don't think he would be discharged without a home assessment and various appliances supplied. My mum was allowed home (going back several years) only if we sorted out downstairs sleeping for her - and dad of course.

My fella does the shopping and puts it all away - he surely can't be a one off? Perhaps because we were each independent of the parents when we met?

Have a good rest of the day all

Afternoon all,

Nice sunshine here now but we have had an odd shower of rain this morning ,it's still very cold out .

AnnG that's very good news that T is now doing well ,I'm sure they wouldn't just send him home without checking that things were in place and that he and you could manage .

Hope you get on ok at the hospital this afternoon Frank and your not waiting about to long .

Ann sounds as if you might have gone over board with the foot stretching ,hope it soon feels better .

Afternoon Island , you had a nice lie in today :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jan 2021 14:59

I was only in front of you Island by half an hour. Glad you feel better today. I did the chickens this morning. Their run is so sticky with mud they are all wearing platforms today and keep sort of trying to shake the mud off. They look like they have webbed feet. I cleaned their nest box out too just by putting the shavings in a food bag and walking it around to the bonfire so I have had a nice walk too today. Oh watched out of the bedroom window and said he thought they looked pleased to see me.

Hope Frank dos'nt have to wait around much at the hospital this afternoon.

I am going to do their corn this afternoon too.

Oh did soup for lunch and I had two nice thick slices of bread with it. He was very good and had just one slice.

I had a Christmas card in the post today from my cousin Hilary in Ohio and the post mark on the back was 16th Dec. The other person I must try to get in touch with is Shirl as I always get a card from her but not this year.

Anng just as well you checked about having a visit to T. How do you manage to send him things in? Does someone take them for you?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 6 Jan 2021 16:20

Yes in this village we have volunteers who do all sorts for people, I have the same lady who takes anything to the hospital reception then it goes in internal mail. Haven’t heard if he has got it yet but usually it works well. Has to be properly addressed including his d.o.b. For ID

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 6 Jan 2021 17:52

I am so envious of you ladies who have had lie ins or slept well. Even on a good night I seldom manage more than 6-7 hours but in my periodic bad spells I seem to get by on 3-4 hours in total. At the moment I am going through a bad spell so last night I slept from about 11.30 till 1 am and then from 6 till 8 am.

It’s good that T seems to be improving AnnG. Has he mentioned how his back and head are now? Is he still in pain?

I’m another one with an OH who can never find anything even when he’s put it away himself, and if he’s not sure where something goes he puts it in the nearest drawer. I hate him emptying the dishwasher. He’s OK with plates and mugs etc, though he hasn’t quite sussed jugs yet but utensils totally flummox him. I’m always having to hunt for things like potato peelers which is infuriating when you’re in a hurry.

I hope you didn’t have to hang about for your X-Ray Frank. Did Ros have to wait in the car? Have you tried your new scooter yet? Wrap up warm when you do as you won’t want to get chilled.

Here’s hoping everyone has a good night tonight and we all wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jan 2021 18:34

Vera you do make me laugh with your oh. Mine always knows where to find things but can never put them back in the same place if he puts them back at all. With him doing the cooking at the mo I find in the tin draw them all in different places so it dos'nt all fit in properly. I should really get rid of a lot in that draw as I don't use half of it now and same with the cupboards. I know there are 6 1lb loaf tins in there which I will never use.

As to sleeping I don't go to bed until 2am so I drop straight off to sleep. If I go earlier its only 12.30pm but anytime before that and I will lie awake forever.

Hope Frank's not still at the hospital!!

Anng thats a lovely idea for people to take your things to T. What a good idea.

Well he got the parcel and enjoyed the satsuma so that is good.
Vera yes he still has the back and head pain. I feel it may be connected to the lung cancer.

Annx

Annx Report 6 Jan 2021 19:23

Are you ready for the okey cokey Island? :-) I've put my left foot in, but can't get it back out! :-D I haven't got insoles, but I found some slippers with soft insoles that are helping. I was so slow answering the door to the courier delivering a parcel today while OH was in the shower, he had emailed me a picture of where he had left it by the time I got there.

I wonder if we will hear back from Frank today? I think he said in his post that he would get the scooter in about 6 weeks time, which I said would be just nice for spring so he has a little while to wait yet.

My OH seems to have taken over loading the dishwasher now and tells me to leave things for him to put in! Now with eating at home instead of eating out I have decided it is his cunning plan! He has to do the washing up of pans etc every day now, so I have noticed he is leaving extra space between the plates etc in the dishwasher. This means that the DW goes on more often which means he can bung the odd pans in the remaining space more often and saves him washing them up!! As for the cutlery, we have an assortment of knives and forks and somehow he nearly always gives me a big knife with a desert fork for my lunch! :-S

That was nice hearing from T again AnnG. He does seem to be picking up gradually. Yes, same as Island said, before MIL could come home from hospital, they did an assessment and set up a home care plan with carers to come in, before they discharged her. It good that there are people happy to volunteer to help with getting things to your OH.

The painting might end up in the bin! The masking fluid pen I used yesterday has left lots of blue marks where it should be snowy white. :-S The teacher had the same trouble with hers, but my fine pen had been well, fine, so I expected the medium one like the teacher's would be too. Not so! When the light is good in the morning I might see if I can salvage it! It was going so well too. :-0

OH will be excited tomorrow when he can open his new pants from M&S. I tried ordering them under his name on my laptop and that didn't work as my password is saved on their site and it kept recognising me. Then they sold out of them and I had to wait for new stock and I ended up ordering them on my tablet. I tried again to get the link on the 'forgotten password' key, but it still doesn't work.

Mel I did smile at your saying the Chickens had platform shoes! I bet they were glad you sorted them out.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Jan 2021 21:29

They had platform webbed feet Ann. They llooked like the ones in the chicken Run film with big fat toes. If they are like it tomorrow I may take my camera round and take a picture.

AnninGlos Report 7 Jan 2021 09:04

Good morning all, thick freezing fog here this morning still-1 out there.

Vera hope you had a better night and hope Annx had another good night. I slept quite well again, still woke early but used to that now and got down in the warm for another hour.

with the fog and nobody going to work it is eerily quiet out there.

I might make some cards today, no housework or washing to do and my neighbour has given me a few pieces of cake so no need to bake at the moment. I did make two cards on Tuesday but can start making some charity cards again now to give me something to do.

Better check my next shopping order as well to see what is disappearing, if the papers are anything to go by.

Morning Anng and all,

Freezing here this morning and everything is white 0 degrees. Suns out and its nice to see it even if it is so low in the sky.

I need to try and do a bit of ironing today and a bit of washing too.

Glad you had a better night Anng and hope others have too.

Wonder how Frank got on at the hospital yesterday? Perhaps we'll hear from him today and he will tell us.

Well thats the first week of the new year gone by already.
