Morning All,

I'm an early bird today to do OH's ear drops, so I got us a COT and popped the heating on for 10 minutes as there has been a sharp frost. Back in bed for a cosy hour now and watching the news which won't be cheery. We can be in the warm with a tasty lunch and crunchy roasts though so that will be nice and I must feed the birds again when I get up. They polish food off quickly in this very cold weather.

AnnG in my case I feel it is more perseverance that gets the result! I'm finding the teaching and doing more to practice and watching some YouTube videos is helping me though. One thing I forgot in my painting is the drainpipes so I'll be putting that right today!

I hope we hear from Gill today and that Sandra's phone could be fixed.

You slipped in there AnnG without me seeing! Yes that was lucky you heard T's call but nice he is able to keep in touch more now. Good luck with your order. Ours are fortnightly too and it does mean more to deal with. Enjoy your walk to the post box and wrap up warm.

Morning all,

I've been about Mel I was on yesterday ,but it's nice to be missed :-D

We have sunshine again but it's blooming cold out I have only been out to the shed to get a cauliflower in as Colin is making some soup or rather I'm showing him how to make it .

Gillx Report 10 Jan 2021 11:39

Hi everyone

Cold and damp here today, so I'm staying in doors and keeping warm.

I've been sleeping the clock around lately with my new meds going up. I haven't slept well for months so it's nice to relax, although I did have a bad night last night so I'm feeling a little tired now. I've got lots of washing to do so that should keep me awake.

It's our 34th wedding anniversary today, I can't believe it's that long, how time flies. OH is in bed after a night shift so we'll open our presents and cards later. Sandra is wrapping them up now.

Poor Sandra fell on the ice yesterday and hurt her back again, she has a big bruise on her knee the one she ended up in A&E with, so I hope she doesn't end up there again. She doesn't have any plans to go out today so she can rest.

Love all the pictures you've emailed me. Your painting is really good Ann, but then they always are, you are so clever, I wish I could paint like you.

Well, I'd better go and sort this washing out, it won't do itself ;-)

Well there you are Gill, we missed you but pleased that you are ok. Poor Sandra, maybe she should not go our when it is icy. Actually unless it is essential shopping Gill or her once a day exercise, she should not go out at all.

Happy anniversary to you both.

Happy Anniverary Gill and G have a lovely relaxing day. Hope too that Sandra's back gets better soon and the bruise heals quickly.

Had to defrost the chickens water drinker this morning and I only had one egg today, I have plenty for todays breakfast though.

AnninGlos Report 10 Jan 2021 12:59

Mr Tesco was early, got here 10.45 luckily I have been caught before so was ready for him. A lot of ready meal substitutions (why are the ready meals selling more now and these are the meals for 1. Is it for the children home schooling do you think? I had about 4 ready meals substituted I had ordered two Chicken Kormas and they substituted the Lamb rogan J that I ordered with another Chicken Korma??? Luckily I intended freezing a couple so it was OK and I have meals for two weeks.

Anyway that is sorted and letters posted and bathroom cleaned so that is me for today. Lunch I think then maybe a couple of cards. It has gone dark here again and is still only 2 degrees. No heating on yet but it will probably go on about three pm.

Poor chicks too cold to think about eggs for their humans Mel.

Gillx

Gillx Report 10 Jan 2021 13:11

Yes, I thought it might be to cold for the chickens to lay any eggs to Mel. They should make up to it once the warmer weather arrives.

Sandra went out to buy some food AnnG, but hadn't got to the shop before she slipped. She had her new trainers on that haven't been worn in yet so I don't suppose that helped. Luckily she has a wheel bag so she didn't have to carry anything heavy. I think had it been worse she would of rang me.

I've just finished putting the last of the washing on the rads so I'm going to catch up with a few programmes I've recorded before my planner becomes full again. Sandra is on a video call with her cousin.

Happy Anniversary Gill I hope you both have a lovely day .
Poor Sandra I hope her back soon feels better after her fall ,she jarred it I expect when she slipped ,did her phone dry out ok or has she got a new one .

That's good you have all your meals sorted AnnG I like a nice curry so long as it's not to hot ,a little rice and it's a nice quick meal.

Well the soup was nice and tasty and there's plenty left for tomorrow or I might freeze it , son sent for some of those silicone freezer bags for me a while ago and they are really good for freezing soup ,easy to wash out and use again ,plus they lay flat so don't take up to much room in the freezer.

Annx Report 10 Jan 2021 14:27

It is strange isn't it AnnG. You could be right though that it is the children homeschooling that the meals are vanishing for, especially if parents are working from home and don't have much time (or inclination!) for cooking.

It sounds like your OH is going to have to roll up his sleeves and help you wash your hair Mel. I don't expect he could put it up for you after so it might be a pony tail or plait if he can do those. I hope the arm keeps improving but these things take some time to mend. After being fine when I got up to do OH's drops, when I got up later I had that pain under my heel again that I think is plantar fasciitis. Getting lunch with a particularly dodgy left knee and right foot I can't put the heel down with was a tester for me. When things just happen out of the blue and you don't know why you can't avoid doing the same thing again in the future. :-S. It sounds like the chickens don't want cold botties laying the eggs! At least you had plenty for breakfast though.

Good to hear from you Gill and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you both. I hope Sandra got you something nice. Poor thing though slipping on the ice and hurting her back and the knee she hurt before. She needs to test the surface by rubbing it with her foot when she goes out in frosty weather and go more slowly too. She's really getting savvy with technology and video calls now! She'll be able to show you all sorts at this rate.

I'm going on ebay after I've finished posting! I'm joining the 'country set' and buying a lightweight shooting stick!! No, not really, I've decided one would be ideal for me if, as is most likely, I will need to queue for my vaccination. It will be easier to carry and shift along than the garden chair which starts to fold up when you move it. :-D I've found one that only weighs 2lb. It might come in handy in our small kitchen to perch on for things like the wipe down too and can be kept in the cloak cupboard.

I haven't heard of those silicon freezer bags Mandy so will look them up. They sound like a good space saver in the freezer. That's good you have plenty of soup left for another meal. I got OH to peel some extra veg today so I can do double helpings with some lamb mince tomorrow. (I just put mice by mistake!!! Yuk, mice risotto).

AnninGlos Report 10 Jan 2021 14:28

Oh OK to go out for food Gill. Sometimes trainers are not the best soles to wear if it is icy they can slip on some surfaces. Hope her back is better and yes, you said she is on a video call, as Mandy said did her phone dry out ok?

Happy Anniversary Gill and G. It’s good to hear from you and know you are OK. I expect Sandra is a bit sore after her fall. I hope she recovers quickly.

Ann, the painting is great. You are a very talented lady

I am feeling very zombie like today as I had next to no sleep last night. Without going into details on an open site, my brother is in hospital and his progress has been very up and down. However he had been rather better and it was expected he would go home this weekend. Yesterday he deteriorated so fast that his partner was called to the hospital and sat with him till 5 this morning. However this morning he has rallied again. I didn’t sleep at all as my mind was whirring around and I was listening for the phone all night. His partner texted me at 5.30 this morning and was surprised to get an immediate response.

I’d better go and get tonight’s dinner in the oven before I doze off in the chair.
