m-m-m-m0rning Mel and Ann and all
So much for having long sleeps. I woke around seven and felt cold. We always have the window open a little so I think it's time for the winter duvet! Heavy frost, fog and minus 7! I think we live in a cold damp pocket - pegged out washing never gets bone dry either. Stove was lit at 9 so we are cosy. Good job we had a wood delivery yesterday!
Are the chucks sporting platforms again Mel?

No sun here, still freezing fog and -2 degrees.I think the heating might be on early today if the fog doesn't lift.
I haven't been sleeping badly recently Mel. (you said you were glad I slept better!).
Sounds warm and cosy chez vous Island.

Good morning all.
Had a good nights sleep, until 6.30 am Only got out once for the loo.
Ros is busy doing all our tablets (FOUR WEEKS) at a time. She will then do the ships and get them up to to Drs.
I went for my CT SCAN yesterday. Stuck a canular(sp) in my arm then connected me to the scanner, all over with 15 minutes, and was told to go and get dressed and could go home.
Had a phone call from the surgery to tell me there was a SLOT at one of the other surgeries for my COVID injection, Friday at 4.50. at Grange Park. So that's me sorted, until the booster a bit later.
Very cold frosty morning here, so I won't be going anywhere today. I hope you are all well, I might get back later, if there is any other news. xxxx

Morning All,
Yes another good sleep. but I slung an old blanket over the duvet last night as they said it would be cold. My hotness seems to have died down the last year or two as I don't often need the window open in the winter now.
Glad you had a good night too AnnG. I was woken at 7.00am by the glaring headlights and van engine running over the road. Mr O must have been scraping the frost off his screens but why he needs his headlights on instead of sidelights I don't know. OH was up early for an online briefing meeting. I then heard the phone so got up to answer it thinking it may be my vaccination appointment. It would be sooner than expected but no, it was an Amazon scam!! I decided to get dressed then and went in the garden with my camera, being careful on the smooth patio slabs which were quite slippy.
That was nice that T got his fruit from you AnnG. I hope he enjoys it as little things like that mean a lot when you are stuck in hospital. Hopefully you may hear from him again today.
The chickens may have frost balls on their feet today too Mel! We rarely have the ironing board out now. Our expanded figures seem to pull out the creases and OH only gets non iron shirts or the flannelette type in the winter that don't seem to crease. The washing still piles up though so I may do some today.
Good luck with your card making AnnG. I shall be trying to rescue my painting.
I'd better charge my camera battery next. Soup and flatbreads for lunch and a banana! :-)

You slipped in there Frank! So it was a CT scan you had not x-ray. It was still pretty quick though. I hope the results will be good. That was a bit of luck getting your vaccination sorted so quickly!

You slipped in there twice Ann. I am just going round to do the girls as most of the frost has gone now and I need to defrost the water drinker.
I'll let you know about their feet.

So I did Mel! lol I've deleted one now. We've had soup hotted up by his lordship's fair hand. I've just added some tomato, oregano and extra cheese to some small cheese and garlic flatbreads and popped them in the oven......little pizzas for us! Are you getting many eggs from the girls in this cold and dreary weather?
Little Fleur the Westie next door was just let out. She must have waited just long enough to do the necessary and there was a little bark asking to be let back in out of the cold. The frost hasn't melted at all here and it is still foggy.

Our suns seems to have gone now and I am just going to see if I got a pic of the chickens in platforms. Trouble is they were so pleased to see me they all huddled together so I could'nt see their feet.
Ann do you ever do pizza bread slices. I toast the bread one side and a little on the other and spread with tom puree and grated cheese and a sprinkle of dried basil and toast again. Its lovely on a cold day.
I'lll download the camera now.

Afternoon all,
When I got out for the loo about half three it was snowing but when we got up there was no sign of any snow ,it was frosty and now we have some lovely sun shine .
So your nice and toasty with the fire lit Island, we need more logs we decided that next week looks like it might be not so cold so might order some then as we have to barrow them round to the back garden.
Frank that's good you have your jab sorted ,your the first on the thread ,I think it will be a while before I get mine being a bit younger .
Ann we had pizza last night ,I bought a ready made pizza Base dough all I had to do was take it out of the packet lay on the trsy and put some bits on the top so nice and easy and it was very nice so will definitely buy another one .
Son was saying how quiet it is in school now they only have key woke children in ,he said there was only 7 or 8 in a class now ,when they leave the teachers have to be out by half four and all the class rooms used have to all have a deep clean every night.
The grand children all have on line learning and son was saying it was quite hard as some of the things they are doing he doesn't remember doing or he had forgotten how to do it so a bit hard to help them . They have zoom meetings too and son said the amount of paper and ink they are getting through is a lot ,I did read that some parents had difficulty finding ink now so many are using it .
We haven't done much today I did give the cutlery draw a bit of a clean out you should have seen all the crumbs in there ,I looked at the ironing and looked away :-D I'll do that tomorrow ,i hoovered through and Colin brought some logs in but that's about it .

Oh Mel the poor chicken. I wonder if they find that uncomfortable or it doesn't bother them at all. Lovely to see the snowdrops though. Still foggy and frosty and -1 here and cold indoors, heating will be going on soon, it is 18 degrees in the loungeWhich with the dining room end is a large room, 19 in this small room.
Mandy it must seem strange when there are suddenly so few children in a large building. I am a bit confused by the mention of ink. Are they not allowed to use ballpoint or biro type pens these days. I had not heard anything about a shortage of ink.
Frank, pleased that you got the scan done. Just got to wait for the result now.
Annx good that you slept well again. Still no phone call, it would be good if he tried to phone about the same time each day but he doesn't, I suspect sometimes he forgets. Yesterday it was almost 6pm before he phoned.

AnnG I should have said printer ink ,they have pages and pages to print off with the home learning and son has five children so that's a lot to print off luckily he has the ink catridges sent to him each month or when they have printed so many pages which ever comes first . I read on FB that someone couldn't buy the catridges they needed .

Ah, why didn't I think of that. Oh yes that will cost a lot.
Just had quite a long phone call from T. Main thing being he has lost his teeth!! Lower denture. I think they had got very loose because he has lost so much weight and he says they would fall out in the bed and he doesn't know what happened to them.
He was pleased with his physio today, apparently it didn't go well yesterday (half the time I don't know what he is talking about, not because I can't hear or understand him but because he isn't sure what the things he is using are called. Anyway he was happier than yesterday. He has been enjoying his satsumas because not having his teeth he can suck them. Must have been on the phone fifteen minutes, I am worn out concentrating.

Poor Anng but at least he has phoned and you had quite a chat. I wonder whats happened to his teeth. Must be so annoying to lose the bottom set so how on earth is he supposed to eat? He'll have to suck his Kit Kat too. He should have more luck with the bananas .
Sun came out again and its just disappearing beneath the tree line now. I have corned the chickens and bantams and just got to take their corn out for tonight and then I am in for the night.
Chicken pieces for dinner and I may chuck them in the oven and cook them with some onion and take out two and put a tin of tomatoes and a tin of sweetcorn in with the two remaining ones and a stock cube and may chuck some pots in too.

It’s good you had a chat with T. again AnnG. What on earth could have happened to his teeth? I hope they turn up. Do you think they could have been dropped in the bed and then, when the bed was changed, they got gathered up in the sheet and put in the laundry basket?
I wondered about the ink as well Mandy. Printing ink didn’t cross my mind but parents must use quite a lot of ink and paper.
I’m glad your scan was quick yesterday Frank. How long have you got to wait for the results?
Your poor chickens Mel with their claggy feet. I bet they are fed up with it. I don’t know much about coopies but do they get things like foot rot?
I laughed at your hokey-cokey Island. Should you need it my chariot is for hire at very reasonable rates.
I went down to the postbox this afternoon to post a card to OH’s sister and husband who are moving from Surrey to Cheshire today. It’s a long old drive in this weather and sil will have to do it all as her husband can no longer drive for medical reasons. I just hope she hasn’t had to contend with much ice or fog on the way. I thought as it was such a short walk to the postbox I’d see how I got on with wearing boots. I struggled like mad to get one on the bad foot and it hurt so much that I immediately struggled to take it off again. Looks like the old brown lace-ups are going to have to do for this winter. Still, as I am hardly going out anyway it doesn’t matter much.
I had another bad night last night, not helped by OH snoring fit to burst. I gave up at 2 am and went in the spare room with my book. Hey ho, I seem to be surviving but I go to bed each night sure that I am going to sleep well and get very frustrated when I don’t. I shall be positive - tonight I am going to get 8 hours sleep :-)

Vera have you tried lavender, just a small amount, of oil if you have it I put a tiny drop on my pillowcase. I also have lavender hand cream and I find that helps as well.
No idea how he lost them but he thinks it was in the bed. They were very loose and he shouldn’t have worn them while sleeping, he may well have done though and they could have come out then. They were loose because of his weight loss but they had no clip or anything.
MEL HE WILL BE HAVING GREAT DIFFICULTY EATING WHICH IS ANNOYING AS HE IS NOT EATING MUCH ANYWAY. HE MANAGED SATSUMAS AND BSNANA BUT NOT THE KITKATS. APOLOGIES CAN’t change that now not shouting I ptomise

Oh the poor hens do have big feet Mel. It's like us with our wellies on walking in a muddy ploughed field! Your Snowdrops are ahead of ours and look so lovely in that pure white, so nice to see them coming into flower.
Mandy some of the schools round here are getting so many children coming to school with their parents saying they are key workers when they are not! It would seem they either don't want their children at home when they are trying to work from home or they don't want to be involved in home schooling. Thanks for mentioning about ink! I have ordered some more for OH as he uses a lot with things he has to print off for his meetings. The pizza dough sounds a good idea so I've made a note for my next order to check if Asda have it. The ideas using toast sound tasty too. I have done tomatoes on toast with basil and cheese and grilled and that was nice.
No snow here, but the frost has stayed all day. Christmas is back in the loft now and there was a mouse in one of the traps, so OH threw it over the bottom fence into the field. It will make a supper for some hungry creature.
It's a shame so much gets lost in hospital AnnG. Does he have any polygrip for his teeth as that would help. I wonder where his bottom set got to as someone must have seen them and it;s not as if one size fits all is it! Still he can enjoy his satsumas and they will be good for him.

He didn’t have the poly grip in there until yesterday when I sent it in but he had not told me he had lost them. He still has some of his top teeth, not sure how he is managing. They are so short staffed .i doubt any of Them have shown any interest.
