Mandy I got the last one you sent but it doesn't appear to follow on with the nat. Don't worry I will follow the SS one for the ribbed one, or just do the SS one.

Winifred Attwell is who I was trying to think of but all I could bring to mind was Mabel Lucy Attwell but know we were wrong it was Mrs Mills.

Glad Mandy had a pattern for you Anng. I don't knit even though I can.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and hugs. I appreciate them. A few days ago my brother was put on an end of life care plan and Thursday morning was moved to a hospice where he was comfortable and treated with great kindness, dying that same evening. Physically very weak, he was mentally alert to the end. Yesterday I couldn’t seem to settle to anything and kept finding myself just staring out of the window. Yesterday and today have mostly been filled with phone calls and emails. I slept well last night but still feel exhausted.

We woke up this morning to quite thick snow and then had more snow showers which turned to rain about 11 am. By the time we went out at 11.45 the ground was covered in a very slippery slush. We had given ourselves plenty of time to walk up to the surgery which was just as well as we had to go more slowly and carefully than usual. Once there we had our temperature taken and were directed to 2 seats. We had hardly got our bottoms on them before we were called in to the surgery together, checked off on the computer, asked a few questions and each had the jab. The time of the jab was written on a label and stuck on our coats. In the waiting room 15 minutes was added to the first time and also written on our label and we were directed to another two chairs until they decided we could leave. There was one member of staff who sprayed and wiped each chair as it was vacated. From the time we left home till we got back was barely an hour.

I’m not sure how the next few days are going to go so I will just pop in when I am able. Take care and stay safe everyone.

Glad you have had it done Vera. I am ok so far arm a bit sore and feel very tired and down but that could be the phone call daughter had from the sister in charge of OH’s ward. She said he was very frail two of them were not able to stand him up from sitting on the bed this morning. She asked if he was averse to taking tablets daughter said yes so sister said they had given him morphine yesterday as they could see he was suffering pain in his back, even though he denied it. She will try him with it again today. She asked daughter if they could ring any time day or night if things change. Daughter said yes. We think we are being prepared for the worst.

It sounds like your brother was well looked after Vera which must of given you peace of mind. That was quick having your jab done, poor OH when he had his first jab was in a queue outside in the cold for hours, he's been called up for his second jab twice and both times they've been cancelled, he now has another date at the beginning of March, I hope that one's not cancelled as well as it'll be very close to the 12 weeks they say is the time between each jab. He had to sit in a waiting area for 15 minutes as well.

It's a condenser dryer AnnG, the first load I put in I didn't have the time right and it was still wet, then the second load again I didn't have the time right and almost frazzled OH's top, thankfully I noticed it in time. Artificial grass is porous like Ann said, my mum has it and it's quite effective, plus it save OH having to cut lawns all the time. I see you've had your jab to, I hope your arm isn't to sore as I know OH's was for a day or two.

When OH cut's our lawns Ann he puts stripes in them and they look really nice, pity you can't buy artificial lawns with strips on, he'd love that lol :-D

I am so sorry to hear that AnnG. My heart goes out to you. It sounds as though the staff are trying to keep him pain free at least. Sending you love and ((((hugs)))).

I'm so sorry to hear about T AnnG, it sounds like they're doing their best to keep him pain free, which must be good to know. Sending a gentle (((hug)))

I'm just watching Chitty flies again with David Walliams, he's trying to make Chitty Chitty bang bang fly but they're not having much luck so far, so have had to get an expert in to help. He's hoping to surprise some children with it.

Thank you both.

Mel the wool is shaded multi coloured from pale pink to maroon. Haven’t started it yet though. Probably wait until my vacc arm is not so stiff but wool pattern and needles are here by my chair.

AnnG sorry to read that T is not so good again today ,it does sound as if they are trying to give him something for the pain to keep him Comfortable.

Ann you could knit some of those ear warmer head bands they are nice and easy they only need to be about four inches wide and long enough to go round the head over the ears , you need the measurement round the head over the ears and knit it an inch or two less so it has a little stretch, I can show you how to sew it up so it has the twist at the front .
The girls love theirs they seem to be the in thing at the moment .

Annx Report 16 Jan 2021 20:26

Evening All,

It' been damp here but no rain or snow. I would quite like to see some snow, it makes everything look nice, but not so good for walking on.

So sorry that T was too frail to stand today AnnG, but they sound as if they are keeping him painfree which is good. It is bound to make you think the worst with them asking about phoning, but it may be that if he worsens, they would try to arrange fr you to see him? Good idea to do some knitting and make a nice children's hat. Like Mel I am wondering what colour it will be. Edit you have since posted and it sounds nice. I have wool for a jacket and to knit a hat to match a fleecy jacket I am slimming into! lol. I have an adblocker and have no trouble with that site and often look on there, but the newspaper sites always ask me to switch it off......no thank you!! Since the talktalk data theft (which they told me included mine) I had so many adverts loading, same as OH, our computers couldn't load our emails, so we had to have adblocker.

It sounds hike your brother was kept comfortable at the Hospice Vera, which is good to know. I remember when my sister, 9 years younger than me died unexpectedly 2 years ago next month feeling rather out of it and it brought up many thoughts and feelings. I think of her still being around sometimes, when something happens I would usually tell her about. It's good you got your first jabs today and again it seems like it was well organised without much waiting. Our local paper said they hope to start on the 70+ age group towards the end of this week, so I hope they do and I can get mine soon.

Gill, someone missed a trick there with the artificial grass and putting stripes in it! lol. Mel's OH is good at getting nice straight stripes in their lawns too. I have to admit they do look nice in a lawn and you don't get that nice mown grass smell with the artificial stuff either. I'm dying to look over the fence to see the new light cloloured chippings in the back garden next door, but need to wait till dusk tomorrow now as I don't want to be seen and thought nosey, even though I am being! :-S

My shooting stick arrived this morning in shooting stick shaped wrapping paper, which is how I knew. I can open it tomorrow and test it out! :-)

Good morning all quite bright here only 2 degrees but looks pleasant out there. I didn't get to sleep intil gone 1am and woke about 0630 but don't feel too tired so muct have had some decent sleep.

I did cast on for the Hat 115 stitches on size 8 (old sizing 3.25 new). I knitted the first rib row and had forgotten how long it is going to take me to do this. I am slow because of my right arm/shoulder and yesterday my left arm injection. I will see if I ever do get it finished. :-)

Ann the newspaper sites always remark on the Adblocker, although as I do read the DM on line I have added them to the 'white list. so put up with ads on there. The knitting pattern site wouldn't let me go further than the photos without releasing the Ad blocker. I did find some pictures on Pinterest but, even though I am a member and logged on I couldn't find the actual pattern for the life of me. So Mandy's pattern is very useful.

Morning Anng and all,

Nice bright sunny morning here today with blue sky and white clouds.

Well Anng you have made a start and when your arm feels a bit better you'll be able to do a bit more. Just a little a day and you'll soon have it done. There's no rush. <3 <3

Nothing planned for today so will see how Igo and what I do. May have a go with my new clay.

Afternoon all,

Nice and sunny here with just odd patches of snow left from yesterday ,I've even hung some washing out as there is a nice blow out .

Colin got the rope on the door of the wood burner yesterday so we have a fire going now .

How did you get on with testing out the shooting stick Ann was it a good height and comfortable .

AnnG it's probably best you only do an odd row or two at a time as it can make your shoulders and fingers a bit stiff if your not use to knitting regularly.

We're having a lazy day today as we're having logs come tomorrow which we will need to Barrow round .
