Only you and I up then Mel.

I have done a load of washing and prepared veg for this evenings meal (and some over for tomorrow. Quite a lot of veg actually as I didn't want to keep it in the fridge uncooked any longer. carrots a parsnip, swede (small one), broccoli, cauli and purple sprouting. If i have any left after tomorrow it will make a nice fry up. Lamb shank today (and tomorrow cold.
I also spent about half an hour in the garden cutting down a bit more of a Buddleia that I didn't finish before the weather turned, same with a large hardy fuchsia, and cut back some ivy on the trellis. Still quite a bit to be done but I was a bit weary by then so came back in. Just trying to fill the time really, sunday used to be a visit the garden centre for coffee morning and I do miss that.

Anng Mandy popped in before your last post so just the three of us today. You have done a nice lot in the garden today. I also had a little cut down of things on the patio this morning. I think I have lost my mauve daisy thing I have had for about three years it has stayed onthe patio all that time but this years frost has done for it.

Its come over all grey now so the sun did'nt last into the afternoon.

We've had our lunch and I just have to clear up and corn the chickens and then I may have a go at some clay work.

Afternoon All,

Four of us now Mel. :-) I was up quite early to get the washer going and our lamb shank lunch like AnnG has had. I did loads of oldish veg too as the food delivery will be in the next hour. We can have what's left with the wiltshire gammon and leek bakes tomorrow so that will be quick and easy. A few substitutes again. I ordered some lower fat chips for a treat and some potato wedges and they have sent a whopping additional bag of ordinary chips instead of the wedges.......good job there will be room in the new freezer.

I'm unwrapping the shooting stick later on Mandy when it's been in the porch 24 hours. That's good the rope was the right size and Colin has fixed it and you are all cosy now with the fire going. Sounds like you will be getting your exercise tomorrow with the log delivery. :-)

I hate the different knitting pin sizes now AnnG. It is a real muddle with both types of needles and with some old patterns and some new!

Oooops must go the delivery is early, get my sleeves rolled up!

Happy wipe down Ann.

Just started to get dark and I still hav'nt got to my clay yet. I did the chickens corn and took the recykling up the top wasshed out a washing up bowl that I had outside as I want to put a pot of paint in it and pop it in the lounge and then cleaned the sink. Now I ned to get the solar lights out of the bedroom and make a drink so another day of no clay work.

I have been watching the first lot of Call the Midwives on iplayer. I like the first ones best and there's not been much else on the telly. I did watch The Pembrokeshire Murders and thought that was quite good. What a find those pictures of him on TV and in the darts teem.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 17 Jan 2021 17:42

Yes I thought that was good as well. I tend to watch a lot of Midsummer Murder and Lewis and Morse repeats and also Agatha Christie’s Marple

I wonder what finding Alice will be like. I am going to record it and watch it in the week. I like Countryfile on Sundays and then tonight there is dancing on ice. Not the same watching on my own but it is something to watch

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Jan 2021 18:24

Yes Anng I was going to have a go at Finding Alice as its got some good actors in it.

MillymollyAmanda Report 17 Jan 2021 18:35

I want to see Finding Alice too ,just watching the skating and then the pottery throw down ,will have to miss the first quarter of an hour of the pottery show as the dancing doesn't finish till eight .

Does any one watch the progrramme with Alan Titchmarsh thats on on a sunday morning ,i think its called Love your weekend ,its a nice little programme he has guests on and there's all sorts on the show ,gardening ,crafts and drink and food tasting too, we usually record it and watch later in the day ,we also like The Bidding Room which is on late afternoon Monday to Friday .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 17 Jan 2021 19:42

Annx Report 17 Jan 2021 19:48

Phew, !t took us just under an hour to bring in, wipe down and put away! I still haven't fathomed Asda's ordering. :-S Somehow I have ordered 2 and a half dozen eggs as I thought I had removed ones that were out of stock. T already have a dozen in the fridge. Sounds like omelettes on the menu this week! ;-)

You had some new clay for Christmas didn't you Mel. I look forward to seeing your makes when you get chance to use them.

I watched The Pembroke Murders in bed last night and thought it was good. I watch Alan Titchmarsh's Love Your Weekend on Sundays too Mandy, it's good. I think I prefer the earlier episodes of Call the Midwife too. I have recorded DOI to watch later plus Finding Alice.

AnnG you must miss having some company, but OH and I only watch a few things together. I wouldn't want to watch all the sport and parliamentary channel things and he wouldn't watch any soaps or Strictly or DOI that I watch.

I need to fill in some online stuff for tomorrow's painting course now.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 17 Jan 2021 20:17

Annx During the week we always watched different TVs but Saturday and Sunday we always watched things together, he actually liked strictly and DOI and we would watch Countryfile, Antiques roadshow and lots of recorded programmes like .Michael Portillo Still Open All hours Dads army, Last of the summer wine etc so it is weekendS
I really miss his company and discussing things on TV.

Actually still doesn’t seem real, I still turn to look at the settee where he sat to say something.

Oh yes AnnG, we would watch Michael Portillo, Still Open All hours, Dads army, Last of the summer wine together, often recordings. We like the Brian Cox and David Attenborough progs too and he will watch The Antiques Roadshow and Countryfile sometimes. Michael Portillo was on Alan Titchmarsh's Love your Weekend last Sunday.

Oh no Mel, not a lost post.......it is so annoying when it happens and makes you wish you had sent it before.

I don't believe it! Yes I am turning into him! Last night all of Asda's different carrots were available when I ordered mine. I didn't get any in my order and when I checked it it said they weren't available. I allowed substitutes so why didn't they send any of their others? When I then checked their site today, ALL their carrots were all still available. It doesn't add up does it?

Hope you have a good week too Elizabeth.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Jan 2021 22:56

Ann don't you send things back when the order arrives like your unwanted eggs? I send anything back I don't want and the driver refunds you.

Annx

Annx Report 18 Jan 2021 03:47

How can we do that Mel. The driver puts all the bags next to the front door, then rings the doorbell and walks to the bottom of our drive to maintain distance till we open the door or look through the window and then drives off straightaway. We have a fortnight's shopping at a time so there is quite a lot and I doubt he would keep to his times if he had to wait everywhere while everyone checked all he was delivering. We don't even go outside and I don't like to touch anything till I am wiping it down after OH has carried the bags in with gloves on. I think there were about a dozen bags this time and they were all long life ones so they must have run out. There isn't enough room with our 2 laundry baskets, big garden plastic wheelie thing and big IKEA square bag for all the shopping and they were damaging things transfering them so we pay for bags. We re-use them for the kitchen waste bin so don't buy bin bags.

Another sleepless night for me. I'll be nodding off in the painting class! I had to put new inks in the printer tonight and the new magenta one spilled between my little finger and ring finger, running down them both. What a mess! It seems to print ok since I put it in the printer though. Anyway I decided to play a trick on OH who was watching something on TV. I got some paper towel I'd used to wipe the worst off and wrapped it round my hand leaving the 2 red fingers showing well and wandered into the lounge. Lol. Well he was on his feet in a shot asking what I'd done, but I just couldn't keep a straight face so he guessed it was a trick! The darned stuff won't come off though despite scrubbing, so will have to wear off unless I try some lemon juice.

AnninGlos Report 18 Jan 2021 07:08

Good morning all. Slept well from 11pm until 0530 but then couldn't get back to sleep. Still dark outside so no idea what the weather is doing it is 2 degrees so no frost though.

Sounds like your problem is with the people who pick your orders Ann. There should be a space to tick for 'or any' for veg like carrots. I have had a similar problem with Tesco with carrots, I also find there is no way of giving size. I have had huge carrots when ordering loose and also massive potatoes when ordering baked loose. I think there is going to be a shortage though so it will be take what they have. But no excuse if they actually had some and you didn't get any Ann. I think I might get a tin of carrots with my next order for use in stews or other slow cooked things.

We enjoyed the train journeys with MP in Asia, he is so entertaining. And interesting. I like the Attenborough programmes within reason, I get a bit bored when it is all sea things. I also like the programmes like one we watched about the Grand Canyon, mainly because we have actually been there a couple of times, but the programme went into and along the canyon which we didn't so it was interesting.

I have the same trouble about returning things. Although once the delivery fellow had put the subs on the top and when I refused one he just said, 'I'll get it refunded but keep it'. But things like the eggs I wouldn't have time to find and return, once the bags are inside the front door they are off.
