Frank Report 25 Jan 2021 09:53

Good morning to you all, and nice to see you Elisabeth,

very heavy frost last night, on top of the snow, that hasn't moved. Have only beed to the dustbin to empty the waste bin in the kitchen.

We need to get the scripts to the Drs. but they will have to wait. Not chancing going out in these conditions.

Stay safe. xxxx

Frank do you have to go far for your scripts? Would'nt they deliver them to you?

I need to get some wshing in too Mandy as it may dry in the sun.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Jan 2021 12:38

Hoovered the spare room and wiped down the windowsills in the bedroom and dusted.
Hoovered the hall and bathroom. Filled up all the bird feeders and watched the black caps taking seed from the table and hiding it in the branches of the big ash tree like Norman Nuthatch does. I did'nt know they did that until today.

Anng have you heard anything from T?0-

Sending wishes to Island and hope she's well.

AnninGlos Report 25 Jan 2021 13:15

Frank I wondered if you could get your medication delivered to you.

Mel, you put me to shame yo have been busy, all I have done is sorted the bins and put them out for tomorrow.
No we have not heard anything from the hospital and I have not heard from T. I don't quite honestly think I am going to now, unless he want to check I am ok. He said last time that nothing chnages ther so phoning is a bit of a wste of time. I think it is a big effort for him to phone.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Jan 2021 14:49

Well you have done a good job getting the bins out.

The snows melting as we have had the sun out all day so far but I think this is the last day as its going to get warmer and so wetter too.

Frank

Frank Report 25 Jan 2021 15:06

Mel, It's about 5 minutes to the surgery. Tracy next door will collect them when she walks her dog. They don't deliver.

No sign of the snow going. There's talk of a frost tonight, but rain tomorrow. So we might see the back of it then.

Been sitting in the conservatory reading my book. I have had the widow open because the sun is Sooooo HOT.

Stay safe. xxxx

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 25 Jan 2021 15:47

It’s still bright sunshine outside which is lovely to see but there is no warmth in the sun at all. When I walked round the garden an hour ago there was still frost on the beds and pots. As there’s not much wind either I didn’t bother to hang the washing out.

My toes on the foot I damaged have been hurting again since yesterday and I am not sure why. The foot is still a bit puffy and I can still only wear one pair of shoes. I walked down to the corner to post a birthday card and found I was limping again so I’m sitting with the foot up now and wondering how long it is going to go on.

You’ve been busy Mel. You put me to shame. I really ought to get the vac and dusters out but I think I’ve lost any oomph I ever had. It all seems a bit of an effort, particularly as no one is going to be coming in anyway.

It must be so difficult for you AnnG not speaking to OH. Would T be able to respond to a text or is that too much for him at the moment? When my brother reached the point of not wanting to talk on the phone I would send him a short text just to let him know I was thinking of him and very often, though not always, he would respond. He might only text something like “Am OK” but it just kept that thread of contact between us.

OH has an appointment at the optician’s tomorrow and I have one on Thursday. I don’t really want to go but this is the third attempt to get there. Two earlier appointments were cancelled and we are both well overdue for our check ups and both feel our eyes need looking at.

Frank, if you step outside for anything at all take extra care. That goes for everyone else as well. It’s very slippery out there. Take care, stay warm and stay safe.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 25 Jan 2021 16:03

Vera yes it is difficult not having contact but he has never been any good with texts, his phone doesn't seem to have very large print and, if he lost his teeth I bet he doesn't know where his glasses are, every time he moved everything was shoved back in his case never to be found again it seems. To be honest, I am not sure his brain is up to communicating. We have no idea why he is sleeping all day and not communicating, all the hospital are concerned with is that he is comfortable and settled. Don't know when Daughter is going to phone him again

Maybe you have laid awkwardly on your toes or something. I bet it is something that will suddenly disappear.

I have just realised that I am cold, heating not on yet and I have been sitting here at the computer writing my diary up.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Jan 2021 17:59

Yes the night are drawing out. I notic3ed it when I shut the chickens in as I make a cuppa about 5pm with tipping point and I have to rush around and take out the bantams corn and make sure the big girls are not sleepin gin the nest box which they always are so they get pushed out onto the perch with the others.

I was going to make a nice easy chilli but hav'nt got a sauce and I am not doing it from scratch so its ging to be a sheep sh*t pie instead. We hav'nt had one for ages and I have been fancying that so here goes.

Annx Report 25 Jan 2021 18:23

Evening All,

No more snow here and it was melting here earlier, but I heard a car go by a little while ago and it made that frozen crunch noise in the snow, so it is freezing again. I had a restless night so had a lie in this morning after ear drop duty! My laptop internet connection went just before my course and it was the same as before a problem with the wifi adapter. It appeared to be 'on' but I switched it off and back on again and it was fine again thank goodness! Then in the middle of the lesson, the phone next to me rang and it was the surgery to book my vaccination for early Friday morning at the racecourse. I asked if queuing was likely and she told me at 8.30am when I am going I should be straight in and out so that is good too.

Some of you asked about my skies in paintings? Unlike acrylic painting, one of the techniques in watercolour is to soak the paper with water then run colour onto it and let it mix, tilting the paper to get it to run where you want. When it works it can be effective, but you don't have a lot of control and have to be careful it doesn't run where you don't want it to go!

Vera I wonder why your toes are hurting. Maybe it was that recent walk that has caused some swelling and pressure on the nerves to your toes? Perhaps it hasn't healed quite enough yet.

You have been a busy bee Mel doing all those jobs, Mandy too. I found some bread stuffed in the gap under one of our window sills. The sills are sloping bricks and there is a small gap where the frame rests on them. I wondered if a bird had done that. I keep meaning to ask how your bad toe is now? Did the nail regrow?

It is our bin day tomorrow too AnnG but we haven't heard there will be no collection as yet. A chap delivered something like a small freezer next door this morning and he parked higher up the close where the road is wider and wheeled it down on a trolley thing. I only knew because there was shouting to mind the car as he tried to push it past on the drive with all the snow. It must be very hard to gauge how T really is with no-one able to go and see him and try to talk to him. What a situation to be in! Yes, the mornings and the nights are slowly getting lighter which is good!

It's good you are staying in while the snow is around Frank. The scripts can be got when it's gone like you say.

Well what with my lie in, getting a snack type lunch and doing my course I have done nothing today, so I must do a bit more cleaning tomorrow. We have both the shooting stick to return and also a longlife lightbulb that didn't work when it arrived, but we decided to leave it today. My car tyre pressure has dipped enough for the warning light to come on but we weren't doing that today either when the car isn't needed.

OH is at a meeting at the moment, but I think it will be an early night for me. I keep yawning!

I hope Gill is ok and that her mum hasn't got worse with the virus. I would think SAndra has her phone back by now.

Toenail is growing back and nearly to the top of my toe now. How you sleep well tonight Ann. Aalso everyone else who had trouble sleeping.

Our snow is all but gone now and is only on the parts the sun dos'nt reach. We've had sun most of the day but a shower of rain at 4 30pm.

Off for a shower now and then a bit of telly.

Night night. :-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Jan 2021 08:52

Good morning, very grey here but 2 degrees, still some snow on parts of the back garden and out the front of the house, as Mel says, where the sun didn't reach yesterday. Bin day and I could see the lorry on the next estate just now so they are out.

Slept okish but kept waking up and dozing off. Not too bad though.

Good that the nail is growing back Mel.

Glad you have your vaccination date Ann and it is early (gosh it IS early) so should be quiet.
Yes difficult to judge how T is, but having seen him when he went in to hospital, he could not be much worse with the pain and discomfort so I can sort of guess. That is why I am pleased when they say he is sleeping and comfortable or settled. I know then he must have the pain controlled. Lung cancer is a strange thing as it causes all sorts of other problems yet, he must have had it a while and it gave him not trouble (as far as I know).

Annx Report 26 Jan 2021 09:04

Morning All,

I slept well and am ready for the shower and to get on with some jobs. We still have snow all over the cars and gardens but some has melted . It is really cold again though. Lunch is fish with a few chips, a cauli cheese grill, peas and some roast carrots, so nice and easy.

I'm glad your toenail is growing back ok Mel. It's funny how the big girls favour the nestboxes for sleeping as their instincts would be that the perches are safer. Do they do it in the summer as well when it is much warmer?

We were saying yesterday how with not mixing for almost a year we have had no colds or tummy bugs so that's a positive! Lol

Annx

Annx Report 26 Jan 2021 09:17

You popped in there before me Anng! Yes my mother died of lung cancer. There are different types and hers was small cell type which if I remember right is mostly associated with smoking which she did. She had a cough that didn't clear up, but after chemo lived a further 3 years before she passed away. As you say cancer can have all kinds of effects and it is great that they are able to keep T comfortable even if he does sleep a lot.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Jan 2021 10:13

AnnX I was wondering what will happen re all the bugs that we have not caught while isolating, will our immunity to them have been erased.
Daughters late husband died from lung cancer, I am not sure which sort but, although an ex smoker (the same as T) his cancer was not smoking related. I don't think they have said what sort of cancer T's is.

Morning two Ann's and all,

Its grey and with that horrid mizzle this morning. Still some snow out the back in the shelter of the trees and a little strip on the roof of mmy car but all on the road has gone thank goodness as Mole Valley have just delivered and he came down here like a rocket. The driver had his little terrier in the lorry with him. He had an open backed truck with the chickens food in the cab and the fat tablets and the peanuts and packets in the back and when he picked them up they were dripping wet.

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Jan 2021 10:59

Morning all

Most of our snow has gone now but I think it was more hail than snow as it wasn't suitable for Sandra to build a snowman, not that she mentioned she wanted to make one so maybe she's outgrown them now.

Sandra moved to her friends last night so OH and I are just gathering the rest of her things together to be picked up this afternoon. Her friend lives in Ellesmere Port and because she wants a flat there she's decided to go now rather than wait. She never got her phone fixed in the end but has managed on limited use and uses her ipad to so she can keep in contact with everyone. She went to the shop the day we went into lockdown and they gave it her back saying they would ring when the new screen arrives but as yet they haven't rang. She'll have to find somewhere in Ellesmere Port to fix it now as it's to far to travel all the way back here.

It sounds like T is settled AnnG, so the hospital have his pain under control which must be a relief to you. Pity he's not very good at texting though, I hope you hear from him soon even if it's just to hear his voice.

Pleased to hear your toe nail is growing back Mel. That's not good having everything wet when it was delivered, maybe you could mention it to then and they can replace it.

I love the pics you've all sent, we have some clever people on this thread ;-)

Sorry to hear your toe is playing you up again Vera, could it be the cold. Good idea to rest, I hope it feels better soon.

Best to stay in doors until the ice has gone Frank, you don't want to fall over.

OH's just got some of Sandra's things out of the loft so I'd better go and help him before Sandra arrives to collect it all.

Good morning Gill, how do you think it will work out with Sandra living with her friend, do they get on well? And how is she moving her stuff, does her friend have transport?
Are you OK with her moving out again? I suppose you are not able to stop her.but will it cause financial complications again?

It is good to see you anyway as you have not been on here for a while, hope you are feeling better now.

Morning all,

Frosty here again ,the sun tried to get through this morning it brightened up for a while but it's very cloudy again now

Vera hope your foot is a little better ,perhaps the cold is now affecting it ,when you break bones and you have cold weather it can give you pain.

Gill should Sandra be moving while we are still in lock down ,I didn't think we could move to far she should be careful she doesn't get stopped if she's with a friend driving any distance she might get fined .

I feel really lazy today ,I have had a dust round so I have done something , I don't know we're the morning has gone it will soon be lunch time .
