Afternoon All,

Lovely and sunny now so the washer is in action! OH is in the middle of his interview and found a shirt that would do up and a looser, smart jacket. His tie will be off as soon as he is finished!

Thanks for letting us know FG's news Mel. It must be very worrying for them, but I imagine there must be some debris for the body to absorb after a bleed like that so the swishing and sound might be to do with the healing going on. It's going to be a worry though till they hopefully get good results from the next scan. What a long time to wait though, but maybe it needs to be for them to see how the current lesion has healed.

It sounds like you are getting to grips with the foil AnnG! It will be another string to your cardmaking bow! What a shame your OH found no relief from the extra pillow. If he feels blocked and the sweet helped, might it still be a sinus problem do you think? You are right about coca cola and pepsi having lots of caffeine. Decaf tea has less than decaf coffee too. Drinking plenty may help a bit as any dehydration would make it worse whatever the cause. Will he get the blood test results next week. I do feel sorry for him.

I have started some beading again and thought I would do some in bed last night. I used a tray so I wouldn't lose any beads, but stupidly lost a needle in bed!!! :-0 After lots of searching, luckily I found it and decided to abandon bedtime beading, so won't be doing that again!!

Glad you had a lovely time Jane and managed another dip!

Oh Oh....his lordship wants to go to drop our scripts in and go for a spin so I'dbetter get ready!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Sep 2020 14:49

Ann those beading needles are so thin its a wonder you foud it at all but I think that has taught you a lesson and no beading in bed again. :-| :-|

AnninGlos Report 4 Sep 2020 14:58

Annx one thing not to lose in bed would be a needle, thank goodness you found it before you had to strip the bed.

Neither of us like decaff coffee. In fact it gives me stomach problems. He has settled for cutting the number of cups of tea down, and we only ever have one coffee a day plus drinking a lot more water than he did before and only the occasional pepsi. Doc said cut down not give up I suppose it might be more relevant if, like our daughter, he drank coffee all day long.

He had lunch then went out to see if there were more blackberries but only a handful there. Unbeknown to me he then got the step stool and picked the remainder of the apples and is now peeling all the apples that have been pecked by a bird (a huge number of them). so that I can stew them for the freezer.

Annx Report 4 Sep 2020 17:05

Yes, beading needles are very fine as you say Mel so I shan't be doing anymore in bed!! How are your painted stones coming along and has Vincent completed his masterpiece now or is he waiting for more green paint?

All coffee, if it isn't quite weak gives me tummy trouble AnnG and both of us get trembly hands if it is at all strong. I'm sure when we have a coffee out at times the young girls who are busy nattering to each other forget to use decaf we ask for. It sounds like your hubby is doing all he can to help at the moment. The new garden centre restaurant sounds good with the staff wearing masks. I think they should do the same in all restaurants and pubs at the moment as the staff are dealing with so many different people.

I have had one of those random antibody test study letters so have accepted and will be sent a kit. It is the same as the one OH had. I'm glad there's no poking something up your nose or at the back of your throat like the one Vera had! I would have still done it though.

I finished the piccalilli this morning, just 2 jars first to see how it turns out. The sauce was more honey gold than yellow, but I suspect the manufacturers put colouring in with some E numbers probably.

I think it might be the East Farndon Farm shop Jane is visiting. We keep meaning to go as another friend has said how good it is too.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Sep 2020 18:28

I have finished two stones and may take a pic before I varnish them as that somemtimes reflects on the camera.

I did ask Vincent if I could take a pic of his masterpiece but he siad he had'nt finished tidying it up yet and to wait so I am waiting.

Jane should be home now and I hope she found some nice things to buy in the farm shop. Yes Ann you should go there as its near you and would be a nice ride out.

Evening everyone

Not a bad day here. It has at least stayed dry though we haven’t had a lot of sun.

I hope you and yours also have a calm, peaceful weekend Elizabeth. It’s always lovely to get your messages. Take care.

Ann, your OH looks very smart. I hope his online interview went well. I love the bee picture. The way you have captured the light on the wings is amazing. I should think that photo would be a competition winner. Thank goodness you found your lost needle or who knows where it might have ended up – somewhere very uncomfortable probably.

You had an early start this morning Jane. It’s great that you enjoyed your time away and were able to spend time with Janice and Larry. As far as these bones are concerned, Corrie went missing at Bury St Edmunds which is probably about 20 miles from where the bones were dumped in the river but the police are now saying that there may be other body parts dumped elsewhere. It just seems to get more horrific. I just feel so desperately sorry for anyone whose loved one has gone missing in the past few years. They must be worried sick.

I’m sorry to hear your OH is still suffering with his head AnnG. Does he find Nurofen effective? I’ve never found Ibuprofen based pills much help for headaches but I know they help some people. I hope it starts to clear up soon as constant pain can drag you down. I expect you could do with a bit more rest as well. If T. doesn’t like drinking water and he likes his pepsi can you get a caffeine free one? I know you can get caffeine free coke as I have it, though I only have mine diluted with Bacardi, lol. I’m looking forward to seeing what you have done with your foil press.

You sound as though you had a good night last night Frank. Fingers crossed that you sleep well again tonight. I had a better night too and slept straight through from midnight to 6 am so I’ve felt a bit chirpier today.

I’m really sorry to hear about fg’s daughter. It’s such a worrying time for them all and it sounds as though it might be a while before she is completely well. I’m keeping them all in my thoughts.

Well, our day has been interesting. About a year ago I started putting in OH’s mind the idea that we needed a new sofa. Mid-March I persuaded him to come and look at a few but then lockdown happened before we came to a decision. Once I felt reasonably comfortable about going in a shop again I started reintroducing the subject. Yesterday, as though it was all his own idea, he suddenly said “We really should look for a new sofa. Shall we go to Hatfields tomorrow?”. Hatfields is a large and very lovely furniture shop at Colchester. We looked around for quite a while and then asked for help from the staff. When we both gave the poor girl a list of what we were each looking for in a sofa (different things) and what we wouldn’t accept, she said “This could be difficult”. An hour later we had come down to a choice of two and finally settled on one. It’s not a squishy, sink-into sort of thing but rather firm and more upright but we both found it reasonably comfortable and it will be better for OH’s back and leg. Then we spent an hour choosing the fabric for it. I found a lovely antique design but it would have looked completely wrong in our modern room. Eventually we agreed on one – or rather I went through three large packs of swatches and then gave OH a choice of two to choose from but he thought he was being consulted. Now we have a 10 week wait for delivery but that’ll give me time to work on OH about some new flooring in the lounge.

As usual, I’ve got carried away and written too much so I had better close. Have a good night’s sleep everyone.

Yes Mel pics of the stones please.

Annx ordinary coffee, one shot if out as we don’t like it too strong doesn’t normally affect us.

Elizabeth, as always good to see you and thank you. I hope your weekend is peaceful and relaxing.

Vera actually OH ‘s head was a bit better today and he managed to keep going all day without dropping off. He cleaned and filled the bird feeders as well as picking a few blackberries and a lot of apples. He then peeled a load of apples for cooking, some to eat and some to freeze. And then had his golfers zoom meeting. His back was still painful but he was a lot more ‘with it’.
Good that your OH has decided you need a new sofa and agrees with your choice of colour :-D They do take a long time to be made don’t they? Strange to think of you shopping in Colchester, we used to live near Chelmsford. Not a million miles away.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 4 Sep 2020 22:12

I’m glad OH’s feeling a bit better Ann . Whereabouts did you live near Chelmsford? We lived at Blackmore, about 8 miles from Chelmsford for some years. We moved from there in1986.

I had a friend who lived in great Baddow too and I bought our furniture in Hatfields too when we lived in Alphamstone. I still have those chairs and chesterfield. As you say a small world.

Its a long while since I lived there but I think our doctor was in Earls Colne.

Morning all,

Bright and sunny this morning here with white clouds in the blue sky.

Dreamt of the cottage in Suffolk last night I must have had it on my brain when I went to bed.

How are you all well this morning? Slept well I hope.

How's T's head and back today AnnG.

AnninGlos Report 5 Sep 2020 09:35

I loved it there but OH worked for Marconi when he left the RN and the pay was not good. Probably the worse off we have ever been. I can remember there was a shop in GB that sold loose frozen things like fish fingers and I would go in and buy four fish fingers for the children's lunch. It was a nice area to live Chelmsford was nice in those days too, all changed the last time we visited.. Still have one friend living in the same road and we also have a good friend in South Woodham Ferrers. we used to visit her regularly but the journey got a bit much we are all over 80 now We actually do see her but when she visits her sister (by coach) in Chepstow.. Still also have friends in Colchester area as well. Just communicate at Christmas these days.

Good morning all fairly bright here but only 12 degrees. OH just getting up, he didn't have too bad a night as he only spent a very short time sitting up out of bed and I persuaded him to camp down on the settee in my office instead of going downstairs so I didn't worry about him and slept ok myself. His back is still painful but he seems ok in himself. Nothing planned for today. probably go and get a paper but that is all.

Frank Report 5 Sep 2020 12:10

Good morning (JUST),

Good nights sleep again last night, when Ros got up at 8.00 am I turned over and dropped off again until 9.20. That was 11 hours in bed. I can only think my body needs the rest.

The Nurse took my BP yesterday, and said it was SPOT ON. My BP was HIGH the other day Not LOW as I said it was.

I have ordered Ros's Birthday Flowers this morning, and booked a Table for the evening to take her for a meal. I thought of taking her to Whipsnade Zoo. but decided against it.

Looks very breezy out there today, so I won't be moving to far from my armchair.

Ros is out with Martine this morning, shopping for odds and ends. I have asked her to bring me a STEAK & KIDNEY Pie, it's just something I fancy for lunch. I expect it will be a takeaway tonight.

I have a joint of beef out of the freezer for tomorrow. So I will do the Veg etc in the morning.

Nice to see Liz, popping in to say halo. Hope you are all well in the family my love.

Needles in bed, doesn't sound very nice to me. What on earth were you thinking about doing beading in bed. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Time for a coffee, and get the plates out for lunch, for when Madam gets home.

See you later, take care and stay safe. xxxx

AnninGlos Report 5 Sep 2020 13:03

Yes getting on ok with it Mel. I just need to know I have a clear hour or so to set it up and work out what I want to do. I am not sure you actually understand what it does, it doesdn't actually make anything but provides extra enhancements for card making. I will send out the photo of the three Christmas cards I have made to demonstrate

Frank, goodness that was a good sleep you had. I slept quite well last night

was not too bad and had a reasonable night and is sitting out in the sun at the moment looking at everything that needs doing in thee garden. It is his back that is hurting him today. We did pop round to Tesco for the paper and a couple of bits. And after coffee when we got back we walked (oh so slowly :-( down the road about a quarter of a mile) to take some books to the lady who runs the book stall, it was painful for him but he knew that if he just sat his back would seize up even more.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Sep 2020 13:42

I do understand how your new machine works AnnG and know it sort of prints the foil onto card. You can also use the bit thats cut out from the first sealing so no waste there then. I had a look at it on the net. I expect you are enjoying it and will make some lovely cards with it.

Poor T I do feel for him as I lived with backache for years when I was younger after putting my back out unplugging the hoover when I was 22. Lived on painkillers for years.

Been to the shop and done the egg delivery so the rest of the day is mine.

Annx Report 5 Sep 2020 13:45

Afternoon All,

I slept well and woke at about 6.00am, lay in till after 8.00am when I heard OH with the weed humper on the front. After that he cleared the cue which has died back now and all the pansies from the pots.By the time I was up and about he'd put the washing out and put the screws back in the side gate as they had come out with rattling in the wind. He's gone about 20 miles to a match on a very sparsely attended ground near Loughborough this afternoon after getting my cautious agreement.

Yes Vera I almost didn't recognise OH looking smarter as he's like me and been slobbing around the place in his old clothes the last 5 months, usually joggers and T shirt except for trips to the surgery or chemist. I hardly saw him out of a suit till he retired, then it became jacket and trousers or jeans most of the time. I was surprised myself at the wings on the bee picture and hadn't expected the frost effect when I took it. Oh a new sofa is something to look forward to by Christmas and letting your OH think he was consulted made me smile. :-) I'm often torn when buying things as I changed to all modern furniture about 12 years ago yet still love some older things and patterns as well. I once said to my sister it would be nice to have a big house with rooms in different styles eg chintz in one, gothic another, art deco a third etc. Maybe I should have bought a hotel!

AnnG, it was a good idea for your OH to still sleep upstairs where you could hear him. He busied himself around doing tasks yesterday which will be good for his back to keep moving about. Can I smell blackberry and apple crumble?

Mel I sorted a flowerpot to paint, washed it and it is dry ready for the varnish later this afternoon. I'm looking forward to seeing your stones. I have a collection in a pot in here ready to do something with, maybe a picture as they are small ones. Yes we will go to that farm shop once we start going in shops again. I've started a little list of places to go once the virus levels are lower, as I know I'll forget otherwise.

A child at a school about 3 miles from us has the virus now, just after starting back and they are waiting to see if others get symptoms. The school say the child didn't have symptoms at school so I don't understand why they don't test them all now.

Sun's out so I'm going out for a while with my camera, the first time since March! I need to get used to doing my own thing again and some of the yarn bombing might be in some other villages now.
