Sorry to hear you’re not feeling too bright Jane. Perhaps the nurse will be able to make some suggestions and give you some reassurance. Sending you love and a gentle hug <3 <3

The dentist’s receptionist has rung with our instructions for tomorrow. We always make our appointments together so we only have one car journey. Tomorrow I should be there at 10.45 but OH will either have to go for a walk or sit in the town car park as they don’t want him on the premises till 11.10. Then I will go and sit in the car while he is seen. The girl asked a lot of questions about our health over the past week or two and, of course, we have to go in wearing masks. There is hand sanitizer in reception and the waiting room normally and the dentist always wears a mask anyway so not much to change there.

I went for a little walk before lunch and have spent an hour gardening this afternoon but had to come in as my back was telling me an hour is enough. The sun was out and it was quite hot but it’s overcast and humid again now.

AnninGlos Report 8 Sep 2020 16:53

Definitely on the single decker nobody lowered their masks I can't say about the few that were upstairs on the double decker. The two ladies chatting kept their masks on.

In town most people in the shopping centre kept their masks on when out in the open, it is not an indoor shopping centre, but most lowered them a little to breathe (and I did too. Put them back up as soon as going into shops.

Its blazing hot here with a clear blue sky. I should have put my gongs on but could'nt be bothered to change. Been in the garden and taken my blueberries out of my shed now I have just picked the last of the berries. I gave the bantams a treat and they had the last ones.

I watched a female blackbird this morning eating the berries off the cotoneaster. She downed loads of them I thought she would never top.

Annx Report 8 Sep 2020 18:28

Yes I bet Jane would find the gongs comfy too Mel. I like the pockets in the front as well. I bet you are glad the wiping down is all done now. Our delivery is on Sunday.....soon comes round doesn't it! Blackbirds do seem to wolf down a lot of berries don't they. We haven't seen many pigeons in the field trees this past week or the Jackdaw flock. I wonder if more sightings of the buzzards are why?

OH had a letter yesterday to say he's been accepted by the council for another 4 years. I think 8 years is the maximum he is allowed to do so he may start winding down then in his 70s! I hope Mandy's son's interview went well today.

The tomato sauce I did earlier. looked good after liquidising so I think we will have it with onion, mushroom, chicken and pasta tomorrow and anything else I can find to throw in.

Hasn't it gone muggy. OH is having his virtual meeting in his shorts tonight.

What did you put with the tomatoes to make the sauce Ann? I have some I intend making a sauce with so open to ideas.

Annx

Annx Report 8 Sep 2020 21:53

I've never made it before AnnG, so didn't add anything this time till I knew it would turn out looking and tasting like a tomato sauce which it did. Mine will just be a mediterranean sauce to go with the chicken tomorrow so I will add browned chopped onion, a few frozen sliced mushrooms, garlic, oregano, basil, black pepper and a chicken stock cube. You could add these when you cook the tomatoes to make the sauce. I'm a bit unadventurous but chilli would add a kick if you like it and a small piece of celery would add flavour too. Maybe the others have some tomato sauce ideas/recipes?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Sep 2020 22:00

When I do it Anng I put onion and garlic in it. If I do it for a bolanais I put mushroom and courgette and dried basil in it a a half a teaspoon of sugar as tomatoes like a bit of sugar and a chicken stock cube but you can just do the first bit with onion and garlic and freeze it and then add other bits by whatever your making be it lasagne or bol or curry.

Glad to see he had more than his shorts on Ann.

Managed a trip out to the garden centre for coffee this morning and bought a new grass for one of the containers. At least it got OH to walk around a bit although the car journey on our local roads was not good for his back.

When we came back OH sat in the conservatory and went to sleep and I spent 45 minutes out in the garden tidying up here and there. He really wants to get out there but is finding it very hard.

Yes Mel, made three cards using it yesterday. Need to get ona nd make some different ones though can't use the same things all the time.

Hi there gongalongers :-D

just thought I'd poke my nose in to say - look at me larging it!
one hundred and fifty per cent zoom :-0
i'm not that shortsighted but after much falling out with my laptop and going back for a tinker - blame the new FB :-| - I tried zooming in and Hey Voila! 150 pushes the side panels, which creep across from the right like small ghosts - out of view.
Not perfect but such a huge improvement.
The jury's still out on FB though.

I hope eveyone is in good spirits now that the sun has appeared again.
Love to Jane, I hope you will be feeling a bit more upbeat very soon.

Off to play with the chair :-)

SuffolkVera Report 9 Sep 2020 15:51

It's warm here again today though the sky has just clouded over again.

We went to the dentist this morning and everything worked well. It was timed so that one person had left before the next one arrived. Our temperatures were taken and we wore our masks till the dentist was ready to start. She and her assistant were wearing masks and visors. She told us that she would do all the cleaning by hand as they are avoiding the use of aerosols and water sprays, so I had what we called years ago a Pick and Polish. No treatment needed and the next appointment made for March next year.

I think it was Ann that asked some time ago if it was a private dentist. The answer is yes. When we moved to Suffolk in 1986 we were in a little hamlet half way between 2 market towns. We asked among the locals for a good dentist and they all recommended a chap in one of the towns. We went to him as NHS patients. I had a small 4 tooth upper plate which constantly broke and I think I had to pay £50 on the NHS for a new one each time. I was complaining about this one day and the dentist explained why it broke and said he could make me a metal plate that would be far more comfortable and would never break but it had to be done privately as it wasn't on the NHS list of permitted work. I gulped a bit at the cost but went ahead. This was in about 1990 and I am still wearing the same plate. Later on the dentist went completely private because he was so frustrated that the NHS only allowed him to put right problems but didn't allow him to do preventive work to stop the problems coming in the first place. We had such faith in him that we stuck with him. Later he retired and sold his practice to a very similar dentist. He retired about 18 months ago but recommended some of his patients to another private practice in the town who have the same sort of ethos and we now go to them. It's been worth every penny to us. About 7 years ago we moved a bit further away so it's now a 25 mile round trip so I don't know what we will do if we have to stop driving at any time but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Didn't realise I had written so much about the dentist. Sorry if I have bored you.

So your OH is facing another 4 years of paperwork Ann. Well done to him in getting accepted again.

That's a long wait for your flu jabs Mandy but better late than never. I don't think the peak period usually comes till after Christmas anyway. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth bothering. I always have it, OH never does but in 2018 we both got flu, we were equally bad with it and both took a good 6 weeks to get over it, so having the jab didn't give me any advantage.

Island, get going on that chair - we can't wait to see the result and when are we going to see Vincent's masterpiece Mel?

I hope Frank is OK now so he and Ros can enjoy her birthday. Fingers crossed that they have a perfect meal out.

Have we heard from Gill in the last couple of days?

Thinking of you Jane. I hope the nurse was able to help you this morning. <3

Frank Report 9 Sep 2020 16:10

All is O.K. this end, apart from me feeling as though I have SPIDERS crawling around inside me chest.

I have to give the Drs a water sample, then speak to a doctor.

Ros's B'Day isn't until the 19th Sept. I have yet to book a table for a meal, but not sure if Harvey and Julia will want to join us, Conrad can't as he is in Spain.

SORRY I am not more responsive, but I don't feel great. Another early night again tonight.

Take care all of you.xxxx
