Morning all,
We have nice sunshine and no wind to speak of but the skies a bit greyish out the front.
Only the shop to do this morning for the paper and deliver Em's eggs and see if her oh is home as he went in on Thrsday for another op as the right shoulder came out again.
May clean the bantams out today as I did'nt get round to it the other day and then if its stays nice I am going up t he border.

Morning All,
Yes I am ok but trying to do a little bit more pedalling on the exercise bike a few days ago (I don't even do 10 minutes!) seems to have backfiired and my left knee has been aching and making a horrid clunk as I walk since! This has slowed me down even more. Tricky though as too much rest and it stiffens! So it's me in slow motion for a while longer I think which is even more frustrating. Mustn't grumble though as it could be worse.
Had a zoom chat with a friend yesterday, the one who lost her husband since the lockdown. She seems to be doing well and has busied herself since and is now making a dress and knitting a cardigan for a family wedding in a few months and has planted her garden and frozen lots. She must be close to 80 now but doesn't let anything stop her. She has a huge garden to do archery so you can imagine the length of it.
BBL to read the posts. OH has sorted us some ready meals and they are ready!!

Good afternoon all, well yesterday was a good day for OH he was a lot brighter, had no nurofen all day and managed a fairly big shop in the bigger tescos without too much problem.
Last night he slept well but got up awkwardly when I was in the shower and the man to fix the boiler turned up unexpectantly so has been in pain ever since. He has gone to lie down for a while to see if he can ease the pain in both head and back. I have been the verbal puch bag this morning but have given as good as I got as I only had about 2 hours sleep last night so feel rough myself today.
Good to see you are ok Annx although you are not really if you are in pain as well. The joys of deteriorating bodies as we get older.

What a shame he's had a setback AnnG. I'm not surprised you have reacted and snapped back and after losing sleep yourself as well. Sometimes a bit of sharpness back makes them realise they shouldn't take it out on their nearest and dearest who is their helper. Fingers crossed though as it seems he had started to improve and should pick up again.
Ohh Well done your son for getting the job Mandy! :-D They were obviously delighted to be getting him back too. What a welcome for him!! He'd obviously made a great impression the time he was there before.
OH has found a remotish footie ground to go to where he can keep away from the few that will turn up, so off he's gone for a few hours. The rate of infection in this district of the county was 25 in the last 24 hours whereas it was single figures a few weeks ago and the city rate is climbing so we think we may be locked down again soon and he may not get chance much longer. I am going out for a short drive with my camera. It may come to nothing, especially if my knee complains but it would be nice to have a change of scene for a short while.

Annx hope you found something to photograph, at least you will have had a change of scenery. A bit of ‘you’ time
Boiler man came and it needs two parts cost altogether will be about £600. But that is cheaper than a new boiler as he says that one is still looking good, it is over 30 years old. And this is the first time we have had to pay out a large amount on it.

Didn't find much to photograph AnnG. It was a bit windy and the sun was going in by then. My knee wasn't brilliant getting into the car but I enjoyed the change of scene and sat overlooking a park for a while and read my newspaper, which I would do at times before the virus as I enjoy watching the dogs race about. That's good your boiler is fixed now and well before the winter. It has been a good one to last so long and still be good as well. Ours lasted 15 years here before we had to replace it, so lasted only half as long.
Good job I just checked our food order after finishing it as I had done something like Mel and doubled up our three 4 pint cartons of milk!! :-0
We watched and enjoyed the first All Creatures Great and Small last night and really enjoyed it so are watching the second episode tonight.
I seem so tired so I think it will be an early night for us as OH is the same.
They have cancelled the Diwali celebrations here which are huge and all along the 'Golden Mile'. I just hope people will stick to it though.

At least its well before the bad weather comes along Anng. We have had our boiler before mum moved in in 1987 so it is a old girl. I just hope I hav'nt put the mockers on it now.
I went up the border for a while this afternoon and got out two barrow loads of blimmin couch grass but I only pulled it up. Its swamping everything. A little earlier I mulched some of the peonies and the leaves have died back so I hope I hav'nt ruined them. I pulled up a dalia by mistake and it had flowers on it. Boo hoo. I cut off lots of brimbles and had a go at the garden outside the kitchen window. I am hoping to get back out there tomorrow with luck. I am hoping for another lovely warm day but not too warm as up the border it can be unbareable.
I hope you all have a good sleep tonight a little longer than last night for some. I shall sleep like a log tonight as I have had some wine tonight. It always makes me drowsy.
Thinking of Jnane and hope she has a good weekend. Sending a gentle hug and wishes and lots and lots of love. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Wishes and love to EOS and have a lovely weekend and stay safe my love.
Last Strike tomorrow, boo hoo I shall miss that and can't wait for the next one.
Love the new All Creatures. Its just as good as the old one.
Hope Mandy has a nice weekend and enjoy those cabbages. Can we have another photo please?
Anyone remember having hard boiled eggs when they went on a picnic? I am going to so some for tea tomorrow. Love a hard boiled egg. Always reminds me of gong fisheing when I was a kid many many years ago.

Morning all,
Bright and sunny again this morning so it should be another day up the border if all goes well. I must admit I ache in places this morning like elbows, knees and thumbs and finger knuckles but thats all part of gardening. I know it was pulling up two barrow loads of twitch grass and kneeling down to do it. I was quite surprised when I knelt down and it did'nt hurt. Must have been the long grass gave me cusioning.

Good morning all, nice and sunny with a breeze here today. I slept well last night but didn't wake up full of the joys, just with the thoughts of same old, same old and wished I could go back to sleep. However, needs must, helped OH on with his socks, had breakfast then he decided he would cut the lawn (at the moment he is better walking than sitting) so I tied his laces for him and he is outside. I have to keep checking of course. I have prepped the veg for tonights meal, quite a selection as I find he eats more if there is a selection so we have a few sprouts, sugarsnap peas, broccoli spears, asparagus and runner beans from the garden, may go and get a few baby carrots later too. the veg will do us a couple of days.

Morning All,
Lovely sunny morning here too Mel. You are doing well on your borders and I'm not surprised you have some aches after pulling the twitch out.....it pulls back hard too! The aches should ease a bit doing some more. Yes, we both agree Mel that the new All Creatures is just as good as the old one.
Best wishes to you too Elizabeth.
I forgot you said you needed parts for the boiler AnnG. It will soon be fixed now though. I expect the condensing boilers like ours may have shorter lives! Hang onto yours as I'm sure I read somewhere the govt were looking to out gas boilers in the future for these climate friendly methods for heating.
I woke at 4.00am and couldn't get off to sleep again, but we did have an early night so I got a fair amount of sleep. The hip was aching as well as the knee first thing, probably from the way I'm having to walk. The clunking hasn't started yet this morning so I think it is improving. Much as I would like to get outside in the garden I think I will just potter a bit and maybe paint that plant pot. OH has watered the toms and done the veg and said he will clear the worktop under the boiler ready for him tomorrow. Just the wipedown to do later today, but I have ordered less this time so it shouldn't take so long.

But I was wrong, he ricked his back half tripping in the conservatory so is not cutting the lawn, just wandering around feeling sorry for himself.

Good DAY to you all,
I think I will book myself into "A FUNNY FARM" I went toned at 10.30 last night, with the tune "TAKE A CHANCE ON ME" going round in my head. By 3.30 am I am sure I had sung every ABBA song I knew, in my head. I finally dropped of to sleep around 4.00 am and slept until 10,00.
I got my shower and dressed. When I came in the lounge Ros was sitting with the Tele. on. It was SOooooo LOUD, I turned it down. That didn't go down well. She turned it off, and stormed off into the bathroom.
It's Tony's B'Day today, so I took his card and present round. He wasn't in the lounge, but in the bedroom having CHURCH SERVICE on his Computer. That'a a new one on me. !!! So I left things with Val.
Not had my tablets YET today, so Imust go and do that now. xxxx

good morning Frank you sound better today. Does Ros have a hearing problem? Has she had her ears tested. She should get hearing aids if the TV was really loud but it is very difficult if you can't hear to admit it. There is a horrible feeling that you are losing something if you have to admit to not being able to hear without aids. However, once you get them you never look back and you realise what you have been missing. But approach the subject sensitively.

Afternoon all
Bright and sunny here, I've just picked some more tomatoes, they are delicious although the skin is a bit hard. Still got lots of flowers so hopefully more fruit to follow.
Sorry to hear about your knee Ann, It sounds a bit better today, lets hope it's on the mend. Your friend sounds very active for 80 years old, and her garden sounds very big.
That must of hurt when your OH jarred his back AnnG, hope he's not in to much pain. Good your boiler is going to be done before the bad weather arrives and you had a good nights sleep last night.
It sounds like Ros might need hearing aids Frank, but like AnnG said tread carefully when you mention it. I think a lot of church services have been done online so everyone can attend, with social distancing still in place they wouldn't all be able to go the the church. At least he's happy doing his own thing on his birthday. How is Val now?
Hope your baby fish are getting on okay Mel. Pleased to see FG's daughter is feeling a little brighter.
Congratulations to your son Mandy for getting the caretakers job. There's so many people out of work it's not easy to find at job at the moment, so he's one of the lucky ones.
I've given up with all the Coronavirus rules, they change to often it's hard to keep up, so I'm still staying in doors and only going out if I have to. I don't visit anyone and no one comes here, we just speak over the phone, that way I know I'm not breaking any rules. I couldn't afford the fines if I did something wrong, even if I didn't know it was wrong. I wonder how things are going to go now the schools are opening.

I just realised if I had stayed married the first time it would have been my 51st wedding anniversary today, only it wouldn't have been as I would have been a widow by now. He was 6ft tall and very strong but mesothelioma doesn't care about that. I discovered he had passed away when I was burning the midnight oil doing my family tree 8 years ago and, on a whim, decided to see if any of his old uncles and aunts were still alive by searching the surname in the area. Up popped his name from the coroner among the searches and I was so shocked I went and told OH who couldn't believe it either. He was only 66.
All ready for the food drop soon now. Walking around gingerly but the horrid klunk in my knee hasn't reoccurred yet today so I should be ok to wipe down perched on the laundry basket. OH will put it all away. He is watching footie now and has a pint with him! ;-)
You do sound much brighter today Frank which is good. What are you reading now? It does sound like Ros might need a hearing test if the tv was that loud. I love the ABBA songs and often have a cd of theirs on in the car.
The white butterflies are still visiting the french marigolds on sunny days, but no sign of the small tortoiseshell ones now, yet they were the main ones at the start of the year.
Hope Jane is ok,,,,lots of <3 <3 <3.
