Good luck to your son at his interview Mandy. Having done the job already is a big plus. They will already know he can be trusted to do a good job. These extra Coronavirus cases in Suffolk and Norfolk are a bit worrying as we’ve been well under the national figures up till now.
What on earth is going on in our quiet “nothing ever happens” Suffolk? First we have the bones in the river and now this shooting. How on earth does a 15 year old come to have a gun? Even at that young age they must know that if they shoot someone they will be charged with at the very least attempted murder and will end up in jail for many years. Why doesn’t that act as a deterrent?
Mel, I love the name Gongalongs. Your OH has a sense of humour :-D
Gosh Ann, your paper delivery is early. Ours is usually about 7.30 on school days and a little bit later on non-school days. That suits us fine but I wouldn’t want it coming much earlier.
I do have a long wait for my flu jab but, to be fair to our practice, it isn’t normally like that. They normally do them on Saturdays and advertise the dates well in advance. We can just turn up. All the nurses and some of the doctors do the jabs using a number of different rooms and when you check in you are told which room to go to. I’ve never waited more than five minutes. I know that they are struggling at the moment to replace various doctors who have retired or left for other reasons. Anyway I have got it booked now which is the main thing.
Btw, Mandy, if you ask at Boots about your flu jab, ask about the pneumonia one as well. I think they are usually offered when you’re 65 and are a one-off vaccination so you don’t have to go back every year.
We’ve had our roast, gammon this week, and it was very tasty. I didn’t have time to make a nice desert but bananas and custard went down very well :-)

Afternoon all, Not stopping. I have been completely out of it for TWO DAYS. Keep going HOT & COLD, then the shakes. Ros wants me to contact the Dr. but I don't want too. Whatever it is, it will clear up.
See you all soon. xxxx

Frank I don't like the sound of that and I think you should take Ros's advice and go to the docs. Be a good boy and do as you are told please. <3
I have been painting all afternoon and now its time to find something for dinner so I think it will be pasta with a cheese sauce and mushrooms, toms, cougette adn what ever else I can find in the fridge or freezer.
Glad you got your flu jab sorted Vera. I don't know if I have had the pnemonia one or not but I suppose if I ask the docs they will tell me as it should be on my records. Oh asked me not long ago if I had had one.
I wonder if T will take my advice about a pillow. At least Anng has told him and anything is worth a try when you are in so much pain.

Did'nt mean to submit that as I was going to say about that young lad who shot someone. What is the world coming to when youngsters go about doing things like that when we are all worried about this dreadful virus.
Its not nice when it gets close to where you live and I certainly would'nt want my kids to go back to school yet. I do hope they are all safe mandy and son too but he needs this job and stands a good chance of getting it if he has worked there before. Good luck to him I hope he gets it.

Best wishes to your son with his interview Mandy. Having been already 'tried out' so to speak they are likely to prefer someone they know and who they were sorry to lose. It would be good if he gets the job he enjoyed again. :-) Poor little Lewis sounded as if he was a bit overwhelmed, it's a big change after being at home so long. I expect he's fine again now though. There's been a lot of talk here about parents being a problem at the school gates with social distancing. Not good role models for anyone's children including their own. It sounds as if there is more risk for the children from some of their own parents' behaviour.
Yes, these virus breakouts are happening in more places now. There have been outbreaks at 2 schools near here and cases in the city and county are rising again, including where we are. The city will be in lockdown for ages longer if people don't start sticking to the rules. Two Labour councillors in the city, Ruma Ali and Rashmi Joshi (former Lord Mayor) were given formal warnings after they broke the rules last month with 1 hosting a barbeque and the other attending a religious ceremony with dancing without social distancing. Living where there are more cases is why I'm so cautious, although people can so easily travel hundreds of miles from here and take it with them.
Local crime, drugs, drunkenness and knifings here seem worse than before the lockdown Vera when you'd expect a sobering effect with the pandemic. I wonder who that man will turn out to be? At least you are booked in for your flu jab now! I was surprised we couldn't get in till the 23rd of this month. Our appointments are all 5 minute slots, with 2 nurses in 2 rooms doing them and leaving by the fire exits, so we are going in 'sleeveless' to save time. Ours say they will only do the flu jab and not discuss or do anything else. I had a pneumonia jab in the 80s. I keep telling OH he should get one since he had pneumonia but he forgets to mention it when he sees the doctor.
Just to be clear about our papers, we only had 1 paper delivered before the lockdown (at about 7.30am), and, as we went out every day we picked the 2 others up from the newsagent. When we went on holiday the delivered paper was never cancelled as OH won't cancel it in the shop or over the telephone as they aren't discreet and repeat the dates you are away to you and your address within earshot of other customers in the shop. No-one can see any post or newspapers that accumulate on our mat while we are away as the letterbox and frosted glass are too high up on our front door (which is solid below). Since the lockdown we haven't been in shops, but OH took up a free delivery offer with the local paper. I don't know who delivers that, but they are the ones that come so early in the morning. If you recall, I got the cramp spasm getting out of bed to try and see who was delivering that time. A long story, but the Mail, which we also get discounted with coupons issued to buy it with, (and can also take on holiday to buy it with) had an offer of 12 weeks free delivery coupons at the start of the lockdown, which I accepted, but after weeks they never arrived, so our purchase coupons to buy the Mail were wasted with us not getting it. I chased it up by email, but after more weeks nothing happened and we had again wasted more coupons to purchase the Mail so I cancelled the paper. Within the last 2 weeks the Mail offered me a free delivered paper for a month which I accepted and got the first copy this morning. I think this paper is now arriving with the very early one, so they must both be coming from a distribution network and not the local newsagent and so is why they arrive so early.
I love your GONGALONGS Mel!! :-D. I have seen some nice cool baggy dungaree things on pinterest recently and wondered whether to get some. They will be ideal I think.
Frank Ros is right, you should contact the doctor to be on the safe side for you both.
I hope Jane is ok and has been enjoying Strike as it would be her kind of thing too I think.
No Island again. I hope she's ok and just busy......with her chair?

I have heard from Island and she is ok but is having trouble with reading on bright pages at the moment. She loved the name Gongalongs too.
Ann thinking of getting another pair of Gongalongs in a muddy brown colour this time same as the last pair which were blue. I thought they would'nt show the mud I usually get on me whilst doing the border or other gardening. These ones ar cheaper than the first pair I bought. The material is really thin too which will be great when its hot. On Amazon

Morning All,
Dull here but trying to brighten up. We got a recorded phone call at 8.00am from the water people to say we may lose our water supply today. OH checked the website in case it was a scam but it was genuine as there is a burst water main on the main road from here to the city. So we have filled water bottles and big jugs/flasks to keep us going today in case we are affected! I said to OH there are always the water butts if needs be after a good boiling of the water!! lol. :-D His face was a picture!!
Mel the dungarees are very similar to the others I saw and I love them! So did OH when I showed him so I am going to get a pair and maybe another if they fit ok. I love that you can adjust the straps and roll them up to what length you want and the cool bagginess. You can bend over without a builder's bum or midriff gap too......good in the front garden where there is always someone about nowadays! Thank you for sending the link. Thanks for passing on the news on Island too.
This mornings local news says 9 schools in the county have cases of coronavirus now and they are still waiting for news on the city schools. Countrywide there seem to be more staff/teachers bringing it into the schools than I would have thought so it makes you wonder how many of those have been following the rules outside school.
Hope you get on ok with the bus AnnG and that everyone sticks to the rules. Could you not have gone in the car?
Off to pick a load of toms now to cook down and freeze for lasagne or chicken with pasta. The courgettes are coming thick and fast too. F&C for lunch, only need putting on a tray in the oven and the mushy peas heating so OH said he will do it all which is good and frees me up! Hope all the chips reach the plates! :-S
I wonder if Frank is any better today?

Morning AnnG, Mel and all
Another grey day. I haven’t been outside yet but OH says it’s quite warm.
I hope your bus trip to town is OK AnnG and you enjoy having your feet pampered. I’m going Thursday of next week.
Frank, I hope you are feeling better now. If you aren’t better today please do as Ros says and give the doctor a call.
I had a call early this morning from our surgery. They needed to change my flu jab appointment but the girl said she could fit me in earlier if I could get to the main surgery in town rather than going to our local one. So I now have an appointment on 3rd October which I am pleased about.
Tomorrow we both have our dental check up so life is getting back to some sort of normality and I’m getting used to wearing a mask and having my temperature taken. It’s not spending time with family and friends that is hard to get used to. At least we’re all in the same boat.
I’m going to do the ironing now but I’ve no plans after that. I’ll have to see how the mood takes me.
EDIT: You posted while I was typing Ann. I hope your water is not off for long. Think of all the added flavour in that water butt water !

Yuk Vera! I know as children we would sometimes drink stream water that looked clean and was flowing if we were thirsty. Think I would sooner have butt water now. I said to OH that the stuff off the greenhouse roof would be better than that off the shed roof. He wasn't impressed!

Back from town, no problems. single deck bus going which is a shock as e always have double deckers here but I can see fewer people are using the bus. We were mostly socially distanced, nobody near me but I had a silent chuckle at the two ladies two seats in front of me one each side of the bus, but they might as well have sat together as they were both leaning across the gangway having a good old gossip behind their masks.
Quite a few in town but not as many as normal and no problem staying away from people. masks were worn in all shops and most people wore masks in the shopping precinct (covered), the only ones not wearing masks were all under 30 and mostly female. as it is a one way system it was easy to avoid them.
I went in 3 shops, Smiths, Boots and M&S and all were fairly empty and well organised with arrows. Have to admit I did get confused in Boots as The arrows I followed towards the way out ended in a no entry. so I back tracked and, as nobody was in sight coming in I nipped through the in door. :-D
Chiropodist was fine, he can only do one patient every 30 minutes so has not got a receptionist and does it all himself. The first time ever I have been on time. One plus is that it has jolted him into getting a card machine so no more need for cheques.
Bus coming home was a double decker and for nearly all my journey I was the only one downstairs.
Mel thanks for the info re Island, I guessed she was having trouble with her eyes.
Annx It is getting bad with the schools, just shows how much there is out in the community. gloucestershire had 10 cases yesterday, our cases are going up now too. But it is the number of teachers that is surprising, I wonder if they are all in the under 30 age group? We never go into town by car I think I have said parking is not good and very expensive but anyway I was on my own and I only drive very local when I have to as you know. Years since I drove into town.
Vera, good that you have got a chiropodist appointment next week and also that you now have an earlier flu jab appointment.
Got home to a card from the post office to pay £1.50 as they have an 'item' that has underpaid postage on it. Luckily I can do it on line. But goodness knows what it is.

That's good you got on ok with your trip into town AnnG. I think you have a better behaved clientele where you live as there was a complaint from a lady in our local paper today. She said she worries as she sees people getting on the buses with masks on but then they pull them down once in their seats!! I was thinking the chiropodist was nearer to you and now you mention it I haven't been in the city here for about a year.
Good thinking about the buckets Mel, but we've had an update to say they have fixed the main now, although it said they did have to cut off the water supply for some people for a while. Has he cut the russet apple branch off yet. Its a shame it broke. Have you heard how Em's OH is doing now?
Vera that worked out well getting a sooner date for your flu jab! I wish our dentist was open as my checkup is overdue now.
Better finish off the tomatoes now. There are still more to come.

Lovely to hear from our Jane but she is sure to feel down after having that lovley break away and with Janice and Larry too. She experienced the hot tub too so that was a first. You know these Gongalongs would be lovely for Jane too as she gets so hot sometimes. Sending love and gentle ((hugs)) and kisses. <3 <3 <3
So not a bad time out on the bus today Anng. I am sure you feel much better now you've done it. Why do people think its ok to take their masks down and natter away to each other?
