Vera I added an edit to my post re the blood test OH had. I think the main thing bothering him and stopping him sleeping is his back so that I am sure is just time. Unless they send him for Xray. He said the headache comes and goes. Bright lights are still a problem. He did take nurofen this morning but is now trying to go until bed time.

It's good that there was no infection AnnG. I think as we get older we tend to take longer to recover from things like bad backs but I hope it will ease for him soon as it's a miserable thing to be in pain and not sleep.
Strangely I just looked at our doctors' website again and they now have a notice up about the jabs. Ours is a very large practice with five surgeries, 2 in the centre of town, 1 over our side of town and 2 in outlying villages. One of the town centre ones and one of the village ones have been closed since lockdown began. They are doing jabs in the other 3 surgeries from 16th September on but by appointment only. We have to ring the closed town centre surgery to make the appointment so they must be using that as a sort of booking centre. I shall ring in the morning to arrange my appointment. OH never has the jab.

Strangely though he still has a 'blocked feeling around his ears yet the doctor checked and his ears are clear.
Good that you can now make your appointment then vera.

AnnG, I see your post came through twice this time, it's getting better lol :-D :-D Pleased to see the bloods tests your OH had didn't show up any infection, at least that's something positive, I hope he's fit and well very soon and both your arms aren't to sore after your flu jabs. I didn't realise they were doing so many flu jabs, but I suppose with Coronavirus still being around it's best everyone has one before the winter sets in. I believe if you catch the virus and have flu at the same time it can be really bad.
It sounds like you both had a lovely time out with your friends Vera. Now it's time for a nap lol ;-) ;-) You're not the only one not having a roast today, there's only me here, so I don't bother. Now OH is working I don't have as much cooking to do as I'm not a big eater, so will make do with a snack most days. OH can't eat much when he finishes as 8pm as it upsets his stomach in the night if he eats something heavy late in the evening, so he just has something light when he get home from work, which is normally quite quick to do. Pity he doesn't like tuna, or I could of made the quiche for him. Pleased to see you can book your flu jab, it does sound like the closed surgery is some kind of booking centre now.
The sun came back out, so I've been sitting in the garden for a few minutes, listening to the birds. It's very quiet around here, so it was quite pleasant sitting in the warmth. Normally there's lots of knocking and banging or lawn mowers going on a weekend, but this week is lovely and quiet.

gill I hope that you make sure that your snacks are balanced and nutricious. You need veg or salads and fruit and plenty of iron etc to face the coming winter. My sister lives on her own and she always cooks proper meals for herself such as a portion of chicken roasted and all the veg etc. My daughter used to cook for herself as well when she was on her own. You could cook a cottage pie and divide it up for the freezer for your meals or other similiar meals.

I checked our surgery site last week and nothing was flagged up about flu jabs on the home page. Seeing you have had yours AnnG I looked again just. Still the same with all about Covid guidance on the home page. I clicked that off and found the flu jab advice underneath! Ours have suspended online booking for ordinary appointments and temporarily made them all for booking flu jabs. The earliest were in a fortnight, so we are both booked in bright and early at 7.50am and 7.55am!! I thought if we went early it will all have been wiped down. I just hope we can be up that early and will need the alarm clock!
At least that was good news on your OH's blood test results AnnG. Maybe it is just a matter of time with his back as you say. Very frustrating as it stops you doing so many things though and you can't get comfy. Hopefully it will start to improve soon. I can't get out of the bath either with my knees as they are. When they have been worse from trying to do more I have lifted the showerhead down and played hot water on them for a few minutes and that has helped.
It sounds like you had a nice excursion and change of scene Vera. I think we seem to be the same with feeling tired, no energy either.
I decided to try my new, handheld steamer this afternoon. The instructions weren't very good but I sorted it in the end. It doesn't seem very good with baked on grease, but it worked better on the grouting between the kitchen floor tiles. I think it will be good for that followed by the steam mop. I wanted to try it on the bathroom grouting next, but, typical, OH had planted himself in there by then so I might try it in there tomorrow.
The courgettes are still coming thick and fast as are the toms, but our runners aren't. There are a few side shoots flowering so if the frost keeps away there may be a few more. Lots of white butterflies in the garden and just one tortoiseshell at lunchtime as we were looking out from the conservatory. The french marigolds I grew have been a huge attraction for them, also the bumble and other bees. Next year I hope to have filled the spaces where most of them are with more rock plants but I think it will be worth growing a few to plant in pots for them.
How is the car now Gill? All fixed and ok again? Left to my own devices I don't eat anything like as much on my own either. Salads or soup will keep me going.
Strike to look forward to tonight! :-)

Anng its good you both got your flu jabs and that T's bloodswere ok. Has he tried sleeping with a nice firm pillow under his knees? That worked for me years ago and if my back is bad I do that when I have a rest.
I did do one lot f washing and its only just gone out on the line. I have done some ironing and a bit of painting but its something for oh and I have to do it while he is mowing or asleep in the afternoon.
Vera that was nice to meet up with a couple of friends and go for a little drinky poo.
Where's Island??????? and Frank hope they are noth ok and Mandy too.

Morning AnnG and all
It’s grey and damp here. It’s not heavy rain but showers and drizzle. One load of washing is done and the second almost finished but I won’t be hanging it out. Some will go on a clothes airer and the rest in the drier.
Sounds as though your OH had a bad night again last night AnnG. I do feel sorry for him. Your post has reminded me that I have got to ring the chiropodist for an appointment. Usually when I go for an appointment I book my next one 8 weeks ahead but they are not doing bookings much in advance at the moment so you have to telephone a few days before you want to go. Isn’t it strange that all your posts are coming up twice? What on earth is happening. I see you now have two threads about Facebook. You must have the gremlins in your computer :-).
Apart from cooking the roast we didn’t have yesterday I haven’t got any plans for today.

Morning Anng and Vera and all,
Woke at 8.15 for the loo and oh was fast asleep so I went back to bed with him and when I woke again it was 10.15am.
Still up now and oh is out mowing so I can have another go at what I am making him for Christmas. Can't say anymore as if he's at the table behind me he can read my pc pages!
Bright and sunnyish when I awoke but cloudy when I got up now its quite bright but not sunny if you know what I mean.
The flies have started down here and they keep coming in if the doors left open. Such a nuisance. Em complained about them the other week when I delivered the eggs.
Anng did T try the pillow under his knees thing I told you about?

Morning AnnG, Vera, Mel and All,
I slept well last night but woke up at 5.30am to someone clomping up our drive. No I didn't try to leap out of bed this time!! It was the papers being delivered. I lay in bed for ages after that watching the end of the film The Good Liar with Helen Mirren in and the head butler in Downton (forgot his name). I fell asleep part way through it last night so missed the end but it was really good.
I've just done my cycling stint after lowering the seat a notch. OH hasn't used it since lockdown and I think it's better for me a bit lower as I don't have long arms. :-) Better shower next and sort our defrosted extra portions of our chicken meal I made last week and some rice to go with it. Then I need to ring our boiler man as it is due a service and that's not safe to leave. He does plumbing so I will ask him if he can do our tap washer while he's here as it is in the uiti where the boiler is.
Sounds like your OH is no better AnnG. Maybe he will need an x-ray if it doesn't improve soon.

Actually he seems to be a bit brighter since he had a shower He gently helped with emptying the dishwasher as we decided he needs to gently exercise his back because it stiffens up otherwise. He has actually just gone down to the golf club to chat to his mates
strangely he didn't have a bad night last night although he woke every hour and got up to ease his back. He did sleep in between though. He does seem to be getting into the habit of dropping back off to sleep when it is time to get up though which will be a habit hard to kick I think.
I have dusted our bedroom and cleaned the bathroom and also pulled up the remainder of the wild flowers which had gone over. the garden is definitely looking autumnal now.
that is a nuisance Annx that your papers are delivered so early. We long ago stopped having papers delivered because it was a bit worrying when we had to cancel them to go on holiday, advertising an empty house.

It sounds to me as if he has a trapped nerve Anng. That can go on for a long while.
I forgot to tell you that the big apple tree outside the caravan has a broken branch and is hanging right down. Its loaded with russet apples and now I can pick them but the tree is going to look funny with one whole side missing if oh cuts it down.

Yes I should think so Anng. Did he try the pillow????????? He should as it helped my oh when he had that although he can't lay on his back for long.
I bought myself a pair of bohemian type dungarees off amazon for next summer when its really hot. They are great and I bought the biggest size as I wanted them baggy and the write ups said they came up small. When I got up this morning oh said are you going to wear your GONGALONGS today? So now they have a new name. It did make me laugh as its quite chilly today so won't be waring them just yet. Nice and easy to get out of if you need the loo too.

Afternoon all,
Not a very nice day here ,bit dull and drizzly ,first thing it was so foggy you could hardly see down the road . Been shopping this morning and wiped down ,bit of a worry with all these new cases of the virus ,first the lot at the chicken factory now another lot at Primark in Norwich and a school teacher has got it too . I see on the news that teachers at a school in Suffolk have got it and there's also been a shooting in Suffolk with a fifteen year old arrested ,what a start to the week.
Lewis went back to school this morning DIL said he was a little tearful but did walk in on his own ,DIL said there was lots of mothers close together so she held back until a lot had gone ,Jake,Katie and Lacey go back tomorrow and Chelsea on Wednesday .
Son has an interview tomorrow for the caretakers job at the little school where he did the care takers job while the care taker was off ill last year he really enjoyed the job and was gutted when it came to an end ,but we're just hoping as he's done it before and they were pleased with all he did the last time he was there and all the teachers said they were sorry to see him go that he might have a good chance of getting it ,there's only one other chap going for an interview so we're keeping our fingers crossed for him ,son was doing a security course before lock down but that was cancelled so he's been doing some other courses on line .
Ann your OH always looks so smart in a suit and his beard always looks nice and neat too. That beading in bed wasn't a very good idea :-D i have taken crochet to bed but never done any sewing .
AnnG your poor OH he must be getting fed up with all the pain and not sleeping to well at night ,Mel's idea of the pillow might help as it does seem to pull on the back when you lay on your side . Love the foil on the cards it gives them a lovely finish and they all look so pretty .
Mel love the stones you've been painting and looking forward to seeing what your making for OH .
Vera enjoy your roast today ,i do a roast some times in the week instead of a Sunday ,mainly because family usually come Sunday morning and by the time they go i don't feel like starting peeling veg and cooking ,well that's my excuse :-D
The last time i picked up the tablets from Boots they asked if we wanted to book flu jabs and they said they were booking in October now ,when i go up to the market for a crab tomorrow i think i'll go in and book up ,she told me now i'm 65 i can have one for free as i'd been paying for mine ,Colin has his free .
Love to Jane <3
