I seem to be missing everyone's posts today.

Sorry Island. We have a bat flying around here most nights, they're really quick aren't they. I hope the one by you comes back again. We have an owl here to, although I haven't seen that for a while, but have seen a hedgehog, it was really big and came out just before dusk which is very early as they don't normally come out until after dark. Still it was nice to see.

I spent the time doing his feet for him as we are off for an eye check for his diabetis this afternoon. I am going to do lunch now.

Shame they did'nt have your prawns yesterday but you did have a nice seafood salad when you got home.

Going to feed the girls now as oh said its topped raining.

Good afternoon all. Shopping delivery this morning and that is all wiped and put away. Despite me checking the list I still managed to order two lots of chestnut mushrooms (scatty). We did well with the gin. I ordered a litre of Tecos London gin (cheapest) and they didn't have the litre bottles so sent two 70 cl bottles for the same price.

Gill oh dear your poor OH having toothach is not helped by his car problem is it. Hope both can soon be solved.

Frank thanks for the email, very interesting and, as I said no wonder there is so much to go wrong.

Mel keep the storms down there, no sign of them yet here.

Jane the sun dress sounds lovely, hope that has not frightened away the summer.
Hope all went well with the scan.

Island, I used to like being at out lake district time share, which was by a river as the bats would fly at night, fascinating creatures

My OH has got sinusitis so has a headache and painful round his eye, he has had it a few days but seems better today now I have persuaded him to take some Sudafed tablets. He is out in the garden working but hopefully he will come in soon as it is getting hotter out there (23 degrees).

We've got a few dark clouds coming over Mel so I've just brought the washing in incase it rains. The sun is still around and it's warm. Can you keep the thunderstorms down there please, I really don't like lightening lol. Hope your PC stays on for you.

Sorry to hear about your OH AnnG, hope the painkillers help. I posted your card for your birthday so it should be with you soon.

Going to grab something to eat now, then settle down to my afternoon programmes.

So far it doesn't seem to have come this way. 28 degrees here now and very sticky. we just popped round to the post office (emprty) and chemist for prescriptions (empty). So that is another two jobs done.

When we came home OH had cut the last four rhubarb stalks so I have stewed them with a couple of apples I had and a bowl full of blackberries. We have certainly had a lot of blackberries this year.

AnnG, I meant to ask..... your lovely petunias, do the purple and white ones have a strong scent? I love the smell of the plain purple ones but don't know why we haven't had them since we have a garden. I must put some on the list for next year.

We picked our first bowl of blackberries yesterday and the fella made a 'jus' - fruit sauce lol but as he made it... :-D

I'm still trying to work out a crochet pattern for an elongated hexagon :-S it's giving me brain ache but I won't be beaten :-|

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 10 Aug 2020 16:29

Do you mean the night star petunias? purple with white botches? Yes they are scented but not that strong. Others that we have that are scented are blue vein (an old variety) and heavenly blue.

Why do you want an elongated hexagon pattern?

I’ll swap this relentless heat for a thunderstorm or two. I’m melting here. It’s currently 32deg and my weather app tells me it feels like 37. I don’t need an app to tell me that :-|. Apparently we have this until Friday when the thermometer might drop to 24 or 25. Should I get the winter woollies out?

I’m sorry to hear that T. has sinusitis. I hope he feels better soon.

Your poor OH Gill. I sometimes think toothache is one of the worst pains. I hope the dentist can put him right once and for all this time. Let’s hope the car can get sorted quickly and cheaply as well. You don’t need anything else to worry about.

There seem to be medical appointments galore today, what with Gill’s OH at the dentist, Mel’s OH having his eyes looked at, Ros with her infection and Jane having a scan. I hope all has gone well with everyone.

Frank, it’s no wonder I always feel tired if my body is working so hard lol. When do you have your stitches out? Hopefully you will feel better when that’s done.

There’s me getting excited watching a couple of wasps drinking from the birdbath while you have bats and buzzards to look at Island. Is your little dog bothered by them? One of my daughter’s dogs just barks non-stop at birds and bats, but he is the dog from hell. I am sure he was born with 666 tattooed on his forehead.

Well, thanks to Annx, I now know my mystery plant is a Gaura. A family member has asked for a garden kneeler/seat for a birthday present so we went to a garden centre this morning to get that and they had some white gaura and one pink variety but they were all ones that only grow to about 2’. I want one that grows a bit bigger so I need to research the different varieties and then see what’s available.

Time to get the washing in but I really don’t want to step out into that sun. Oh well, once more into the breach....

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Aug 2020 22:57

O Vera I meant to say it was a Gaura as I had one but it did'nt survive the winter. That was a couople of years ago and I put it a foot from our south facing wall in the border.

I don't know where today went. We met Em's parents at the docs and her dad went in after oh. When he came out we had quite a long chat in the car park.

I made lasagne this afternoon for dinner and it was delish with our second picking of long beans.

This morning oh saw something over the ploughed field and thuought it was the buzzard but it was too big. It ran like the wind and we think it was an emu as someone over the wood across the road has peacocks and emu's. Em had one outside her door once!!

Island we have lots of bats here they are in our loft too as oh has to sweep their dropping up on a regular basis. I thought they were mouse dropping at first but nothing was chewed and oh saw a bat up there once. I have seen them come out of our top tile on the side of the bungalow a couple of years ago. Living out in the middle of nowhere we get lots of wildlife big and small.

Baby Bob's mum dos'nt let him go on my hand now and flies at him if she see's him come to me. I feed him down by my shed now if shes around.

I will get around to sending the pics of the swallow I just don't seem to find the time lately.

Think I will pop in the hsower as I feel all sticky. :-(

Morning all,

Grey sky right over at the mo and its a very misty moisty morning but I think the sun is trying to break though now.

Got a few subs on the order today. Getting ready for the big wipe down. I think I have more to wipe down this week.

Ann your step in the garden are lovely and you'll enjoy looking over the back field on your new vantage point. We will await some pics from the tor. The garden looks really colourfull and nice and tidy.

Must go and sort the fridge out and clear the work surfaces of oh's stuff.

AnninGlos Report 11 Aug 2020 09:29

Good morning, bright here so far and already warm. We are out to lunch today as OH has a free Beefeater meal for his birthday to use.

I replied to the emails Ann but have to add how neat and tidy your garden is compared to ours. Neat ours is not but that is the problem with cottage style. Yours is very pretty though and I am fascinated by the round courgettes if that is what they are.

MillymollyAmanda Report 11 Aug 2020 10:41

Morning all,

We're in for another hot day ,yesterday we lost the internet for half a day not just us the whole town and lots of villages why I don't know.

On the way home from shopping there was a very bad accident a car with a young lady driving ploughed into the corner of a house ,I think it had only just happened as there was no services there and a chap was on the phone .
When we got home the air ambulance went over very low and landed on the news they had to cut her out , on face book there is a clip from some body's dash cam showing her driving very eraticlly it followed her coming out of tescos she went round two round abouts all over the place, past two cars that were waiting to turn so she went round them on the other side of the road and through a red light and that's were the dash cam lost her but just down from there is where she crashed and she had a baby in the back .
If we hadn't got held up in the traffic we would have been just in front of her .
The corner of the house is out and there's a huge cracking up the wall ,parts of her car were scattered right down on a mini round about several yards away.

Lovely photos of garden produce and lovely ones of your nice neat garden Ann it must have hard work moving those slates they look really big and heavy.but looks good now it's all done .

Just having a nice cold drink one of many today I think with all this heat .

Hope everyone can stay cool. BBL

AnninGlos Report 11 Aug 2020 11:05

Good morning Mandy. Oh dear that does sound a nasty accident. I wonder if she was ill, diabetic or something and the heat affected her balance. I do hope she and the baby were OK. (had she come out of a pub not Tecos I would wonder otherwise.)

It is very hot here. OH has come in from the garden as it is 26 degrees and too hot to work out there. As we are going out for lunch he didn't want to get over heated. Table booked for 12.30

Frank

Frank Report 11 Aug 2020 11:59

good morning sweet things, lol lol

Very warm here also. I am going to relax on the lounger with my book, when I finish here.

SNAP VERA, Ros made a Lasagne, which we had last night, with Garlic bread. I didn't fancy new potatoes. Yes, the stitches come out 12.30 pm on Thursday. Can't wait, they are starting to itch, and the LUMP under them seems, to be getting bigger.

I have aired my views on FB regarding INFLATABLES. That poor woman lost her life trying, and succeeded in rescuing that child. I think there should be a TOTAL BAN on the things. People must have thought me a TIGHT old Bugger for not buying my children them. But thank the Almighty, they are still alive and kicking.

Mel, the forecast for the next few days, is THUNDER STORMS and SUNSHINE. So I think ALEXIA has got it right. !!! There is nothing I liked more, when I was in my teens, than to get the kitchen chair outside the back door, and sit through a good old thunder storm, in my underpants. Then towel myself down and get dressed again.

Carolyn has had TWO nasty turns over the last couple of days. She had one while at Hastings, and was told to get a blood test done. When she phoned our surgery, she was told, they were fully booked until Thursday. Surely they could have fitted in a blood test, they don't take a couple of minutes. Anyway, she has gone shopping with Ros, but won't be out too long. (THEY SAY) :-D :-D :-D

We seemed to have had a few AMBULANCES up and down the close, not sure who's poorly, Ros might know. So pleased they haven't been for me. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Well I am going to get a jug of Orange juice, and my book, for an hour in the shade.

Hope to see you a bit later. xxxx

Island

Island Report 11 Aug 2020 12:29

Morning all
Pleasantly cooler today but still sunny. I did a round of the shadey spots in the garden yesterday - didn't stay long in one when I saw the knapweed was buzzing with bumble bees though, once stung twice cautious! Lovely to see them though.
We didn't get the rain and thunder last night but it did feel as if we would - could have done with it!

AnnG, the elongated hexagon is a fill in on a crochet cushion which has been waiting too long. I need 6, fill ins that is. I'm running out of patience.
The petunias we had when we were only balcony gardners were solid purple with a lovely musky scent.

Annx, great beastie shots! Did you move those slates on your own? :-0 You must have needed a few sit down in the lovely summerhouse. Great that you have I step to spy on the cows from - I'd be the same and get my binoculars on them too. I used to enjoy photographing cows - from the safety of a boat or with a fence between!!

Bats! Just the one spotted but it must have friends....
I doubt we will be lucky enough to have a hedgehog visit but remember one from the outlaws garden. What a racket it made! I wondered what on earth it was.

Vera, I'd be excited to watch a couple of wasps drinking in a bird bath too. Some of the canes are sealed on our bug hotel which is exciting and I can't even see them LOL Must make some more hotels.
Dogster doesn't take any notice of birds, he used to chase squirrels and will spring into life if a cat dares to walk on his garden fence.
He just fly watches now - he really spooked me the first time he did it a few years ago. Home alone one night in our new home and the dogs watching..... something... and slowly following it. I was so relieved to breathe out when I saw it was only a fly!

It was still morning when I started this :-0 So I'll get on with something else!

Have a great day everyone
