Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Aug 2020 13:10

You've had a productive morning then Anng. All I have doneis feedthe chickens and clean to loo and now I am going to feed us. Three books for Inara are they ready for Christmas or will she get them earlier?

Oh just went out to do a bit more painting and just as he got out there and to the garage I looked out and it had started to rain so he came in. He said he can't get motivated today and I know just how he feels.

Time to get lunch as my tums rumbling.....

:-D

Mel, we have not seen her since last Christmas, we would usually see her two or three times a year, maybe more and would give her something each time. So she will have three paperback type books usually £2 each £5 for three and a Disney princess doll when we next see her. Not a lot I don't think for 8 months.

Afternoon All
Oh Gill what a surprise it was to see that Sandra is back home once again :-D
Welcome home Sandra <3 It sounded quite an ordeal for you all but hopefully now things are settling down and she has all her things sorted back in her own bedroom .
No doubt there is a lot of catching up to do and she will have been able to tell you how she has really been with M&M all these months.I can’t remember now how long she has been away from you.
I am thrilled for you all xxx

Still not feeling great so just taking things easy

I see you are similar to me Jane, I wish I could throw off these headaches. I have been sitting nice and quietly, while Ros has showered and prepared the evening meal, but this blooming headache just continues to haunt me. I don't want to take anymore painkillers, so will have to live with it.

Anng, Like you, we don't see Lewis as often as we would like, but Ros or I will always give him £50.00 towards the running of his car, what with Insurance and Tax, it must be difficult for a youngster to keep a car on the road. He is very good with his money. He has worked at Valeries Patisserie in Milton Keynes for a number of years now, at weekends and holiday times. He saves his wages to run his car, and all his personal needs. He has just spent over £100.00 on a pair of trainers. So he keeps up to date with his cloths etc.

Many years ago, Simon and his then wife Jan, bought us a paper shredder. It has just given up the Ghost. So now I am on the look out for another. We tend to shreed all our correspondence, which like most of us, is PRIVATE. with our names and various information, that you wouldn't want anyone to find.

Still a nice afternoon out there. Ros has just bought me in a COT, so I had better go and drink that. Perhaps see you later.

HOW IS SANDRA SETTLING IN ???

SuffolkVera Report 5 Aug 2020 15:40

Afternoon all

Very hot and humid here, though there is a bit of a breeze from time to time. I wish it would rain but according to my BBC weather app we aren’t expecting any for a full week yet. The garden is really suffering now so OH will give it a good water tonight. I’ll get our meal a bit earlier than usual so he has time to do it after that.

I walked up to our nearest PO this morning. There were 3 people in the queue in front of me and the third one had a big laundry bag full of small parcels to post. It took forever. By the time I left the shop my face felt really hot and soggy. I couldn’t get my mask off quick enough.

Chatting on the phone to my daughter yesterday she casually mentioned that she had been in a bad car accident at the weekend. Apparently she was on the major road, albeit a B road, and the other driver came at speed straight out of a side road, which had stop signs and a solid white line across it. He slammed into daughter at such force that she was spun round in the road. Her car is quite badly damaged, his is a write-off but thankfully neither of them were injured. I asked her if she was shaken up and she said no, she just went into headmistress mode and he did as he was told. So she made the chap produce his driving licence which she photographed and she also snapped both cars, skid marks, his number plate and so on..he didn’t have insurance details with him but said he would send them on. There were plenty of witnesses as it happened right by the outside seating area of a pub with plenty of customers and staff about. Anyway, rather than bore you with the whole story which goes on a bit his car turns out to have neither tax nor insurance so it’s possible the police are now chasing him up. Daughter has good insurance so won’t lose any money through this. Her car is going in on Thursday for assessment and repairs and insurance has arranged a hire car for her.

Phone ringing. Must go. BBL.

AnninGlos Report 5 Aug 2020 16:29

Oh goodness Vera, good jub we don't know what is happening when it happens isn't it. I am pleased she is OK. I wonder if it was even his own driving licence he produced or if he is even the owner of the car. why do these people drive so dangerously like that it could have been so much worse. I am pleased that she has insurance that will see her OK. But no doubt it will affect her future insurance. Wretch. Glad I didn't read that before I drove this morning. As it happens I was fine and remembered where everything is!!! Car not finished yet that is going to be a biiiig bill!

Well I have been playing with the paints (watercolours actually. Not sure that Inara could do as well but it is a scene copied from a photo of one of our favourite places with a little bit of artistic licence. Might send it out if I think it worth it tomorrow.

Just stewed another load of blackberries with some of the apples I picked up free from the book stall yesterday.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Aug 2020 17:38

O Vera what a todo. She did all the right things though with the photos etc but I do wonder if that was his driving licience. Was it a picture one? I too wondered if the car was stolen and thats why he was driving at speed.

Anng I love Balckberry and Apple but ours down here are'nt ready for picking yet.

Did I say we had one deer in the orchard yesterday eating the fallen apples? Just the one....... she then went up past the box hedge and went to the day lillies and had a few of those for dessert.

Nice to see you pop in Jane. Sending wishes that you feel a bit better soon. <3 <3

F & C night tonight and I shall cook myself an egg I think to have with my chips or I may have a pie don't know yet.

Annx

Annx Report 5 Aug 2020 20:50

You are so right AnnG, they put your insurance up when you renew it, even if an accident isn't your fault as you are considered a greater risk, just by being involved. I got stung when a lorry clipped my mirror and broke it while I was parked at the side of the road and the driver freely admitted it was his carelessness. They always find a way of squeezing money out of you. I'm glad your daughter was ok Vera as it was a nasty bump and I think it would have shaken me up a bit. I hope she gets her car fixed quickly. I wouldn't have let anyone take a photo of my driving licence as there's a risk of ID fraud.

That's good you are having a dabble with your paints AnnG. My watercolour pad is ready to open now so I am ready for the Beginner's Watercolour Course on line.

Frank some of my keyboard is unreadable now which doesn't help with typing either. I think the 'A, H and N' need engraving in the keys so they don't wear off.

I haven't done all I planned which is no surprise but my 3 hoover filters are drying in the conservatory. I have also looked at some craft stuff and want to start on some jewellery again once I decide what to make. Was that Mandy in my ear saying what about Ted's jumper!! lol. :-0 I had to smile at Max wittering to be with Colin. He's a bit of a softy isn't he! :-)

The kitchen over the road is taking a while to fit. Their bungalow is the same as ours and they have quite small kitchens. Their skip is piled high so hopefully they are just fitting things now and will soon be finished.

Better go and watch a prog I want to see now. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. One of the garden centres that has been closed all through the spring has an offer for you to fill a big 2 tier mesh trolley with plants for £10. I wouldn't mind going there as it is in the sticks about 6 miles away and is in the middle of nowhere so doesn't get many visitors normally and everything is well spread out. I think they use it mostly for growing and storing plants for their other garden centre not far from us. The trouble is we are expecting things we've bought on line to be delivered. :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Aug 2020 21:18

That sounds a good deal Ann just think they may have things you need to brighten the gaden up. Perhaps the delivery will be early so you can still go.

AnninGlos Report 6 Aug 2020 09:11

Ah go on Ann, go and see what they have.

Good morning all from a rather grey Glos.

Small shop round the local Tesco today I think. OH's car is in for MOT and service and waiting to hear when they can fit the remaining two tires on mine.

I will put a photo of the painting up later. I will also put the original photo up with it. I actually like the painting but it does look like a primitive or child's painting but that is more or less what it is like in real life.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Aug 2020 10:33

Morning Anng and all,

About the same here very grey with light rain in the air so one of those mucky days.

I have the library coming today!! Hooray first time for four months. It only co mes once a month anyay now. It used to come every week then eery fortnight now once a month but thats better than nothing seeing as it stops up the top of our driveway out to the road on the village hall car park. What really annoyed me was I had read all the books and oh had put lots of his tool in front of where I kept them. When I rounded them up yesterday to take back today I found one I had'nt read which had been knocked on the floor so I could have had stories with making dinner and lunch.

It was all heavy tool boxes he put in front of the telly so I must have knocked it down whilst hoovering with the pipe.

Nothing else planned for today.

Had a terrible night just could'nt drop off. It was getting light by the time oh got up and then I must have dropped off so you can imagine what I am like this morning.

Morning All
Vera thank goodness your daughter was not hurt in that very nasty accident. I hope the driver of the other car is found and dealt with severely. He certainly sounds a dodgy character with no tax and insurance.

It is a rather humid day here and mainly cloudy.I managed to have a nice bath just now which was heaven.Having a coffee now.Hannah is making a Lasagne which she will bring round for dinner tonight which is nice as it means Chris does not have to think about cooking for a change.

Did we hear from Gill

Frank how are you today and how is your poor sore head? You said you don’t like to take painkillers but there is no point just taking them in the morning and then not again until the evening.Regular is what is needed at the moment. You shouldn’t be struggling with that nasty headache. What painkillers do you take?

Well my coffee is going cold so I better get it down.

Don’t miss the library van Mel!!!!

Afternoon to all you lovely ladies. xxxx

I see you have all been chatting away. What a great thread this is, everyone knows each other now. It's nice that there are new faces coming in too. xxx

I was at the NURSE this morning. She has taken off the dressing, washed and cleaned my damage, and re-dressed them. She has put a dressing on that is impregnated with Vaseline, to keep the wound damp. Then she has covered the lot up again. I have to go back next Thursday to have my stitches out. (14) She was very gentle, and I told her so. She is a relief nurse, and will still be there next week. Louise our normal nurse in on Holiday.

When we got back from the surgery, Simon was here, to see how I was. He gave me a good NAGGING about taking more care. Anyone would think I did it on purpose. !!!
He took back a bad of tomatoes, his birthday present (19th July) and anniversary card and present. PLUS Sally's Birthday present. So that's cleared the table go quite a bit.

We started to get some rain earlier, but it just passed over, leaving a damp miserable day. It can't make up it's mind, what it's going to do.

Ros has gone to Morrison's to spend a voucher she had to spend by today. Then on to have her nails done. I expect her home around 2.30 pm.

Vera, THANK GOD. your daughter didn't get hurt. What on earth are these people like, driving like lunatics without a road tax or insurance., and possibly no LICENCE.The police should THROW THE BOOK AT HIM. He could have so easily killed someone. Banned for life, and 10 years in prison. Then we MIGHT see these people off our roads. The law is far to lenient on these drivers. When I think of all the young drivers who obey the law, and have TAX, INSURANCE, R.F. L and MOT. I know it must be a struggle, to find all the money to pay for that. Lewis in a typical example. That's my MOAN OVER.

Sorry about all the repeat postings yesterday, I don't know what happened there, but they are all gone now !!!

Time for a coffee nd a sarnie. STIR-FRY tonight. That Ros has already prepared. See you all later. xxxx

AnninGlos Report 6 Aug 2020 13:15

Jane, you are starting to sound better? Hope so anyway, wish I had somebody here to pop round with a lasagne. Although shouldn't complain as Cynth next door has just given us some fruit cake. There goes the diet again.

Vera, just to say your envelope came this morning thank you.

Mel, hope they have lots of books you haven't read on the library van. What books do you like to read?

I have posted the photo out of the painting. might have a go at another one later.
today I drove my car again as we had to pick up OH's car which passed its MOt and his bill was half mine!!

Gillx Report 6 Aug 2020 14:27

Sandra's decided she wanted to live with her sister in the end, so she went back there last night. I've not heard from her today but I should imagine she's catching up on some sleep as they wouldn't of got back to Leeds until the early hours of this morning. OH thinks she's may of played us and really just wanted to visit her friend and my mum, they live next door to each other around the corner from us. She told us that Michael and Michelle wouldn't bring her to see them with the Coronavirus, so she may of planned it as she saw her friend and my mum yesterday before leaving to go back to Leeds. So OH thinks it was more of a holiday for her, rather than her actually moving in.

Sandra wanted to go to a lot of different houses to visit everyone when she was here and her dad and I thought that was to risky as she could of brought the virus back to our home. I don't think Sandra understood how risky it would be and because she's 35 the choice was her's. We said unfortunately if she was going to put herself at risk then she couldn't come back here with her dad being a carer in case she caught the virus and passed it onto him and of course me, so she decided to go back to Leeds. She kept talking about getting her own flat when she was here which I think might do her good to be independent, plus she can live her life the way she wants to then. I think it might have to be assisted living though. She said she's going to make some phone calls, to find out her options.

I had a good nights sleep last night but feel tired again now as I haven't had much sleep this week, so I think I might have a doze on the sofa this afternoon. OH's been asked to work a full day today as someone rang in sick, he was only meant to do half a day, so no doubt he'll be tired when he gets home. He wants to show willing as he's only had the job about a week, so he's still on his trial period.

I've got a bit of a headache so I'm limiting my screen time today, I don't fancy it turning into a migraine. I hope everyone is okay, I'll catch up with all the posts when I can.

I have replied to your email AnnG. I think its great for a first attempt. Did you enjoy doing it? Thats the main thing and not what people think of it.

We.ve had lunch and I just have to wash up and I am going out in the garden.

Frank you must feel more comfy now the nurse has cleaned you up and dressed your poor head. Did she get the dried blood out of your hair? Did she say it was healing well? So Simon went back with a car load of present then and I bet he was chuffed. Must have been nice to see him. Did he stop for long? Take notice of his NAGGING Frank its for your own good like we keep telling you.

Jane I wish Hannah would bring me a nice lasagne for dinner. Glad you're feeling a bit better today and was able to come on here and have a little chat. <3 <3 <3

The library van was well organised with a table across the entrance into the van. There was sanitizer to the left and a plastic basket under the table to put your returned books in. She had four books for me and I also took the one back I found under the telly table. It has a little shelf under it and thats where the book had fallen so I cuold'nt see it. So five books in all and she's back next month and has given me a paper with lots of info on it and I am to ring the library a week before she is due to tell them what I would like. It was great as I only had a tenny in my purse which is what I usually pay for four books but I got all these for nothing so good months free read. I had the talking books for mum as she was partially sighted and got them for free but missed them playing when she had them on so took them for myself and I listen to them while doing the ironing, getting lunch, and cleaning taking my little player around with me. The tasks don't seem so bad when I can listen to something.

I like the old fashioned stories about little wraifs and strays and as long as a mobile phone is'nt mentioned thats ok with me. Aslo the wartime ones with people in hard times and children being sent away from their families in the war to live with total strangers. It must have been so hard for some of those children. Mum told me she was sent to one of her aunts who had a very handsome husband down at Brighton I think.

Must get on or I will never get out in the garden and the suns trying to come out at the mo.
