Good morning all
It’s bright and sunny again today and about18 deg at the moment. I think it’s only supposed to get to about 21 deg round here today. That’s hot enough for me.
Around 11 we are meeting our friends for a gentle stroll by the river and then we’ll stop at the pub about midday and sit outside with a shandy. It’s easy to keep a bit of distance between us and still be able to chat. Otherwise we have no plans for the day.

Good morning all. Vera that sounds a pleasant way to spend Sunday morning.
We have no plans so I have changed the bed and put washing in. OH has just cooked us bacon sandwiches for brunch. I shall prep the veg for tonight’s roast chicken then have a fairly lazy day.

Morning all,
Quite a nice morning here with blue sky and some wispy white cluods and some big white fluffy ones. Think it rained in the night as the grounds wet outside but not under my car.
Not doing anything special today just muddleing around in the garden doing what I want. Oh is on his sunflowers again.

Good afternoon JUST. You won't believe what I am about to tell you.
I went out yesterday morning, got the mower out and bought it to the steps to the lawn. The mower went down the steps AND SO DID I. I landed on the bottom step ON MY HEAD. I could see the BLOOD spurting from my forehead, as I layed there. I SCREAMED for Ros, who happened to be coming out of the conservatory. I said call the AMBULANCE. Both Tony and Denis heard my scream, and came round to see if they could help. Both of them were not able to get me up. I did manage to pull myself into a sitting position by grabbing the metal arch. Ros bought TWO BATH TOWELS which I held to my head, to staunch the bleeding. By this time, I was soaked in blood on my shorts and T shirt. When the Ambulance arrived there were two Para-Medics. They told me they were in a car, and that an Ambulance was on its way, then we heard the sirens, and they were there in minutes. They patched me up, and got me to the Ambulance . This was about 10.15 am. I finally got home at 8.00 pm last night. They had left me in a side room in A & E for hours on end. Whenever anyone went by, I asked when I would be seen too. At around 4.30 they took me for a CT SCAN, bought me back and left me in another room. FINALLY a Doctor and Nurse came in. They cleaned me up, and put 14 stitches in the worst cut, and the other they used these little sterile strips, also on my shin that was badly cut. The knuckle on my first finger on my right hand, had also split open, all she did with that, was to put a plaster on it. I then had to lay, to make sure I had no more bleeding and that I didn't faint. So when finally they rang Ros. to come and collect me, I was well and truly Peed off. Harvey had come up to pick up the bed chair. He stayed with Ros, and came with her to collect me. Once I was settled in the armchair, he got his mower from his truck and did both my lawns. I sat with Ros watching T.V until mid-night, and she helped me into bed. I woke at 4.00 am wanting a COT. I got up, so did Ros. She made my tea, and I had a couple of biscuits. Went back to bed and slept until 9.00 am
The Nurse has been this morning. He has taken BP, temp. and a small drop of blood from my finger. He also went to his car and bought in a pair of "SLIDERS" that he attached to the ZIMMER FRAME. It makes it SO MUCH EASIER to get around.
Ros has prepared dinner for tonight, and has popped to Tesco for some bits and bobs.
I have to ring the surgery tomorrow to see when I can start my ASPRIN again, and to make an appointment to have my dressing changed. My stitches should be able to be removed in about 10 days.
So yours truly is feeling like A SHED LOAD of you know what. !!! But thank goodness I am here to tell the tale. I'm now going to st in the conservatory and try to read the paper. I will report back in, as and when I feel like it. But I didn't want you worrying, wondering where I was.
Take care all. xxxx

Afternoon all,
Oh goodness Frank that was some trip ,you were jolly lucky you did break some bones going down a wallop like that ,you will have to give up on the idea that you can mow the lawns and just let Barry come each week . What a shock for Ross too I bet she wondered what you'd done ,I hope over the next few days you feel less sore and just post when you feel up to it ,take care. Oh congratulations to Lewis didn't he do well .
Vera I hope you've enjoyed your shandy by the water ,nice to see that your feeling more like going out now.
Mel nice little picking of apples and plums did you make a nice crumble ?
Family came this morning ,making the most of it in case we lock down again ,it's not looking good in some places is it. DIL took some more runners home and another couple of cues ,i meant to give her some toms and I forgot.
It's a nice afternoon so I intend to sit in the garden write my shopping list for tomorrow and do some crochet . :-)

Just has a visit from Nicola and Jonathan. They were surprised to find me home. From what someone had told them, they thought as Ros's car wasn't on the drive, that she was visiting me in hospital. How very thoughtful, of ex next door neighbours. I must say we got very close to them, calling Jonathan our 4th SON. He is still working from home since the Corona 19 ,and Nicola who is Cabin Crew with Virgin is still on 80% furloue. They said that should we need anything, no matter what, let them know. They(one or the other} would be happy to come and keep me company while Ros is out, or do the shopping for us. We are blessed, to have people like them, just around the corner.
I've just looked in the mirror in the bathroom, my scalp is a solid mass of HARDENED BLOOD. How on earth am I going to get that out, as I am not allowed to shower or wash my hair. ?? Perhaps Ros can soak my scalp and wipe or dab it away. I don't fancy going to the hairdressers and having my HEAD SHAVED. lol lol
The afternoon sun is quite pleasant. I think I might venture out onto the patio, when Ros gets back. I still have the paper to read, and a couple pf chapters of my book. So I can while away the afternoon. I might even have a BEER. !!!

Afternoon All,
Lots of hot sun here and it's 25 degrees in the study according to the thermometer so a bit too hot for me really. The sun is on this side now though. Still I'm saving myself for the wipe down later and not doing much. I saw the cues had flopped a bit so put 2 cans of water in the tub. (there are 3 plants in it).
The duvet was still damp last night so I dug out a very old blanket I have kept from years back, so with the sheet, the blanket and duvet cover on top I slept like a log. Funny dream about being back at work and attending some course I had no instructions for and no-one I asked could help me and it was to be in 1 of 3 skyscraper buildings but I didn't know which one or which room! Sometimes you are glad to wake up!
Frank you are really lucky not to break your neck with those steps and the laundry basket or mower. Mandy is right that you should let Barry do all the mowing now. I said it a few years ago that you should get rid of those steps and have a gentle slope with a rail at the side. I hope you aren't too sore and that the wound heals quickly.
Well our first venture to click and collect a carvery didn't go well! We ordered the first slot at 12.00pm and OH was the only one there when he arrived. The boss told him to wait in his car and they would bring our meals out out to him and pop them in the boot. Great he thought! Nothing after 15 minutes so he went back inside and they were asking someone else being served what sauces they wanted on their takeaway carvery. OH pointed out that that was his carvery as he was first with the first slot. The staff said he wasn't and just carried on!! OH spotted the boss and went to him and explained and he agreed they should have served him instead and told the staff to do our order next, as they were now serving others that had started to queue from inside the pub by then. When OH got home he said he wouldn't be going again as the whole point of being there first was to mix with as few people as possible. He wasn't impressed that some were obviously not being served at their table and although it isn't mandatory he nad expected the staff would be wearing masks which they weren't. :-S
I tried the new shredder out and it is good and much quieter than the old one which is a bonus! Everything is in place for the wipe down now and baskets put outside. I see Asda are not using plastic bags now unless you ask for them and I forgot about it anyway, so I hope there is room for all our stuff.

Oh dear Frank. That sounds like a nasty fall. I do hope you are ok.. You must be careful in the future else you'll end up breaking something! In and out today, as it's nice in the sun, but not so good when it clouds over! I afraid we don't wipe down anymore and haven't done for so time now. We go shopping at OAP hour once a fortnight and pack the car ourselves so there doesn't seem much point! Ditto the farm shop! Pork for lunch today, cooked by himself, I think it's nearly ready so better go!

Good luck with the wiping and packing away Ann.
Oh what a shame they didn't have that under control properly, was it the first time they had done it? I would think it was the fault of the 'boss' as he had told your OH to wait in the car but had obviously not told the srving staff. I definitely think they should be wearing something, even visors would be better than nothing. even at the little snack cafe by the canal last week the staff wore masks.
Frank, really, please don't try and carry anything up or down steps when you are so unsteady on your feet. Let barry do the lawn and don't worry if it gets a bit longer than you like. I hope the cuts heal quickly, did it open up the cut you had not so long ago?
Mandy nice to see the family. I do hope they don't lock us down again. I really don't see the point as those that want to go out wil just go and disobey the rules.
Reading on line the mail on Sunday I note that, in a piece by a community leader in Leicester, the South Asian community only began to take it seriously when the army were employed to help with the test centres. When they saw the army they realised it was serious. He said he had spoken to several groups not socially distancing and they had just shrugged their shoulders before. Apparently they are fatalistic, If they are meant to die, they will.
Mel I bet that shed is going to look great. What paint is he using?.

Goodness me Frank we are all so very cross with you and have told you so many times NOT TO MOW THE LAWN let Barry do it. I thought you said he was supposed to come last week and do it anyway!! Ros needs to chain you up so you can't hurt yourself and thank goodness she was in when it happened. You could have killed yourself. I am pleased that it is all sorted now and you seem to be ok. Take care like you are always telling us to do and get a rail put up by the steps even if you don't have a slope put in. AND NO MORE MOWING.
Its been a nice day here and we have enjoyed the Grand Prix on our Anniversary and now oh is back to his sunflowers and I have to wash up and then I am going out in the garden.

Happy Anniversary Mel. Wasn't the race good, I was on the edge of my seat on the last lap willing Lewis Hamilton to win, good job it was the last lap or he'd of lost to Max, who was less than 6 seconds behind him. Did you make your crumble with those lovely apples and plums? Were they out of your garden?
Oh dear Frank, what an ordeal you've gone through, please be careful and like the other's have said leave your lawns for Barry to do, that's what you pay him for. I think you should get rid of your steps now and have a slope with a hand rail. I hope Ros can help remove the dried blood for you. Please take it easy and look after yourself. If you're on painkillers I wouldn't drink any beer for now, the two don't mix very well.
That was bad service Ann on your click and collect and not wearing masks either. I thought you had a wear a mask in public places now, or have I got that wrong. I can't keep up with the rules as they keep changing. Have you finished all your wipe down now?
How nice to see your family Mandy, good idea to see them now as some places are going back into partial lockdown already.
I'm in the middle of doing some more sorting, the things I've kept hold of, good job the bin is emptied tomorrow as it's almost full.

Thanks Gill and yes they are out of our garden but I am waiting till tomorrow as I have made oh his favorite orange jelly with manderine oranges in for tonight. That tyre! Its so good he was so near the end of the race. Was'nt there some crashes in it too. They really managed to mangle some cars up. Shame they could'nt get that car started for the relief driver too.
Been trying to get the brimble out of the box hedge and have found it has rooted under the rose that grows through the box hedge so I don't think I will be able to get it out and will just have to keep cutting it off. So far I have nearly filled oh's big trailer with box clippings and rose and brimble.
Ann that was'nt very good for G when he went for your click and collect meal was it? What was the food like in the end though? Was it worth the wait. Don't blame him not wanting to go to there again.

Evening All I thought I would just look in (not having a good day today) and see FRANK you have been up to your tricks or should I say trips again. This sounded as though you could easily have done yourself serious damage.Hopefully now you have had an ear bashing from us all you will not even try and get that mower out again. It is just too dangerous for you . I think you will have to put up with a matted bloody head for a bit as you don’t want to disturb all those stitches. Keep using that Zimmer .
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Mel <3 <3.Glad you have both had a nice day. I am sorry I have missed so many posts again but just haven’t felt like using the laptop for the last day or so. Just having a Strawberry Complan for my tea.How thrilling (not) but I don’t fancy anything really.

Evening all !!!, (DIXON OF DOCK GREEN) Had a generally quite day. Ros made me stay out of the kitchen, apart from slicing the pork. Everything went into the dish washer, so no washing up.
I have put an offer in for a Motorbility scooter. It's just 12 months old and only been used TWICE The big problem will be, it is in Maidenhead, and would need to be collected. It fits in the boot of the car, so it might mean a drive out for Ros and I. If not. I will need to find someone who will collect and deliver it here.
Conrad has been on the phone, and nagging me to get the steps taken out and a sloop put in, with hand rails. I know what needs doing, and if I was able, I would do t myself. I'm sure Harvey could/would do it, but he is so busy with his own work, I don't like to ask/pester him.
Early night for me tonight. My head is throbbing, and my right eye is beginning to close up. Ros has been damping my hair, and combing the blood out.
See you in the morning, sleep tight. xxxx

Happy Anniversary Mel and OH and many more of them <3
That was a heck of a tumble you took Frank. It must have really frightened you and Ros. I’m going to nag you as well - you must stop trying to mow the lawns and carrying stuff up and down those steps, and if you don’t want a slope at least get some rails put up. Your injuries are nasty enough but next time they could be very serious. OK, nagging over. I’m sending you a hug and hope you feel better soon.
Sorry you’re having a bit of a rubbish time as well Jane. Just rest, relax and take things at your own pace. Sending you a hug as well.
Click and Collect turned into Click and Don’t Collect for your poor OH Ann. Was the meal worth the wait?
I’m not surprised you’re confused about wearing face coverings Gill. I have to keep googling to find out the latest news and it is so inconsistent. Customers have to wear a mask in shops but it’s not compulsory for staff, you don’t have to use a mask in pubs (a bit difficult to drink through them lol), you can go to the cinema with a mask but you can’t go to a theatre and so it goes on, one rule contradicting another one. We now just do what seems reasonable and safe without breaking any rules.
Just noticed the iPad I am using has a very low battery so I had better put it on charge. At the moment I am using it for everything, including all my reading so the charge isn’t lasting as long as usual.
Hope everyone has a good night. See you tomorrow :-)

Yes, the food was really nice again Mel with lots of veg, peas, beans, parsnip, cabbage and leeks so I was happy and we could hardly finish it all. I forgot to wish you both HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! <3 <3 Ha ha, that's very true Vera! Yes, at least the meal was good, but they didn't even ask OH about sauces so we didn't get any!. Your shandy with friends must have been lovely and relaxing in the nice weather.
I can well believe that comment by the community leader AnnG. It's what we have seen happening. This life isn't so important when people believe it is just preparation for the next better life. Lack of information and poverty may get the blame but they aren't always the reason.
No it wasn't the first time they'd done it AnnG as they were doing click and collect when we were getting deliveries from them a while ago. They have carried on with the click and collect since stopping the deliveries.
Well my day has got worse! Too many substitutes with my Asda order, so no wholemeal bread for me.......surely they must have had at least one make available!! They have given me 50/50 like OH has, but having been brought up on wholemeal since a child I find even 50/50 quite bloating. Four egg custards were replaced with a pack of only two. Asda have stopped using plastic carrier bags now, which isn't a problem, but why did the driver empty his crates onto our driveway in front of the front door instead of into our baskets and trolley? Then he piled some crates up in the porch doorway for OH to empty. OH had to empty them into the porch as he couldn't step over the food piled up at the front door to get to the baskets or trolley himself!! Anyway it is all wiped and put away now thank goodness.
I hope you begin to feel a bit better again tomorrow Jane after some more rest. I remember those drinks from when I took part in the research study to do with sitting. We had the vanilla one and I remember they were quite filling!
Gill I am going to do some more sorting tomorrow before the binmen come on Tuesday. I must keep chipping away at it or I'll be back where I started.
I keep meaning to order a cool box to put the root veg in when the fridge is full. The cool bags I usually keep in the car are not so good as they are thinner.

Yes, it was a good race Mel, pity about Nico Hulkenberg all that rushing to get there to replay Sergio Perez who tested positive for Covid19 and then he didn't drive the car in the end, I think it was something to do with the onboard computer. OH's watching the race now as he was out earlier. I bet it's a never ending job doing your garden with the size of it, it certainly keeps you and your OH busy. Shame you couldn't get the brimble out from under the rose. I like the sound of the orange jelly with mandarin oranges in.
Sorry to hear you've having a bad day Jane, I hope you feel a bit better tomorrow.
The drawers I'm sorting now AnnG are the ones I didn't to last time I had a sort out. I like to have a good clear out every now and then, but only do a bit at a time. I didn't realise how much of a hoarder I am LOL, I really don't need half of what's I've got, hence the clear out.
I agree with you Vera, the rules do seem to contradict each other sometimes, so it's hard to know if you're breaking the rules or not with them changing so quickly.
OH's just finished watching the race, it's a good job I was here as he fell asleep on lap 49 just before Botas's tyre went, so I had to rewind it a bit for him. He soon woke up when the same thing happened to Hamilton's car.
Going to make a cuppa now.

It’s bright, sunny and just pleasantly warm at the moment. Two loads of clothes washing are on the line, the bedding is in the machine and nearly finished, then it’s just the towels to go and that’s the washing done for this week.
I hope you are not feeling too sore this morning Frank. I expect you are looking a bit bruised and battered now. Rest up and take it easy today.
I hope you are also feeling more the thing today Jane.
I think it’s going to be a h/w day today. It’s boring but I suppose it has to be done from time to time. What are the rest of you up to? Anything exciting?
