Did'nt mean to post that!! I have been asleep this afternoon. Threw myself on the bed as I could'nt keep my eyes open after lunch. Oh came too and he said when did I want waking up and I said in an hour. He did'nt wake me and I slept till nearly five and I was going to make a cake this afternoon. Its late now so I don't think thats going to happen.

Afternoon All,

We had the drizzle earlier then more and more wind again! Like Frank, I slept well last night too. :-)

I got nowhere with beading today as I was adjusting a pattern and it didn't work out so I'll have to start again. One of the cats sat swearing at poor Cleo outside through the conservatory glass......the little madam!! The other one lay on a chair dozing in the sun all the time we were there!!

How did Ros find the electric scooter to use at the NEC Frank? Was she able to get to the stalls with all the people around? My bead friends are going tomorrow, but I think it will be really busy at the weekend.

Hope you are managing to enjoy your break AnninG. As long as it doesn't rain too much, there are usually places you can go and enjoy yourself.

Gill I have always used a card reader to put my photos onto the computer. They are so simple as Mel says and it saves needing cables. My card reader doesn't even use a cable itself and just plugs straight into the laptop socket.

We are tearing our hair out with our new updated email boxes. Some of my emails go direct to trash so it is like having 2 inboxes. Things you mark as spam, just bounce back again. Neither of us can get to our oldest emails as only one page shows now. OH's emails he types don't start showing what he had typed till he has done a few rows and then they appear one letter at a time!!!

Our Sainsbury's has a charity book table near their Customer Service. It isn't always easy to get OH past it without stopping!!! lol :-D :-D

Fancy two storms being the same names as Gareth and Hannah Jane. That's quite a coincidence isn't it.

Mel,it sounds like you won't need much sleep tonight after that long snooze!! I bet OH was wishing he'd woken you earlier so he didn't miss a nice slice of the cake you were going to make.

I could just fancy your lasagne with salad and potatoes Mandy. I'm really hungry today and think this cold wind doesn't help.

I see there is a Vera repeat on tonight, but I think it's one I haven't seen so that will be good to watch.

Back briefly. Mel there is a list of Storm names for the year.Alternate boys and girls names. After Hannah, the next girls one is wait for it JANE LOL Talk abotu keeping it in the family :-D

Frank,I just had a quick glimpse through some of the latest posts and Tony is just unbelievable. Fancy saying that to Susan :-0.He is just ignorant and rude.

Gill, when we have had a skip before we have not had anyone adding there rubbish but I did find a man once in the skip going through it for scrap metal. Another time someond did actually have the good manners to knock the door and ask if we had any old metal in the skip. The builders really should have a tarpaulin on that skip .It is quite irresponsible of them not to with this weather.Plus it would stop people adding their rubbish.

Oh Mel what a night you had last night. No wonder you crashed out this afternoon.

I hope you are enjoying your visit to your family AnnG .Did you say you are there for the week?

Mandy we have a second hand book table in our Tesco too.I think it is a great idea.I have often dropped a few books off there.I have bought the odd one or two but I still have books here I have had for a couple of years and still havent read as I have so many on my Kindle.
NaughtyOH Ann bringing more books home :-D. it is hard not to though especially if there is something that realy takes your fancy. You are making me feel really bad about not clearing out my shoes and clothes.I can hardly get anything else in my wardrobes.I am just going to have to be really ruthless, grit my teeth and get rid .

It is just Chris and Me here for the weekend :-D. Hannah is coming back next weekend for some get together with the girls. Gareth is walking in the Breckons .

Dinner is in the oven but I dont feel in the slightest bit hungry.Chris will be asking soon "When is dinner" :-S The wind seems to have finally died down a bit now although we have had some really big gusts this afternoon. One came just as Thomas was sitting on the patio and he was off like a shot .He was down the bottom of the garden in just a couple of seconds !!. I hope that he is in soon though as I can't see me staying up too long tonight. Just seen the weather and it looks like more wind and rain is on the way AGAIN :-S Touch wood our Greenhouse will stay intact :-D

Still very windy but no rain today. hope Anng is having a good time with her sister we have never been to Lee in Solent but have visited Portsmouth several times which is quite near. Plenty to see and do in that area.

Good for Tesco's selling books for Charity, I don't know whether ours does it.

I haven't read all the posts as I got fed up with error message plus I lost an earlier post through my own fault.

We have just had curry for the evening meal.

AnninGlos Report 15 Mar 2019 22:00

We are only away until Sunday. On the way we visited my sister in Fareham (my home town), today we visited a large M&S, a big independent garden centre and a big Hobbycraft. Not what we normally do when we are here. We would like to go over to Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth tomorrow but that involves a trip across the harbour on the ferry a bit of a no no if it is still as windy as today. So we may just drift around Gosport. The main reason for being here is to visit our Grandson and the two Great grandsons, and our other grandson who lives in this area will see us there with his partner. That is Sunday..

It doesn't matter what camera you have Mel, it's the type of picture card it uses. When I bought mine, which like yours has slots for several different cards, I just needed to check there was a slot for the picture card mine used. I also have a picture card with a slot in it to take the tiny picture card from my mobile. I can then put that inside the card reader to download my mobile phone pics to the laptop. Well done getting the cake done after all!

I don't like the sound of the weekend weather! I think OH was struggling to find a footie match for tomorrow as most pitches will be waterlogged.

Jane even after chucking stuff out I can only just get everything comfortably in the wardrobes and drawers. I found spare slippers and things l'd forgotten about so won't need to buy anymore for a while.

I saw a pair of Herons swoop down to the frog pond in the field at the back this afternoon. I'd never seen a pair together before.

I see 'tactless Tony' was showing his lack of thought again Frank. He really is insensitive to say something like that.

Morning all

Very windy here today with storm Hannah, I think Hannah is worse than Gareth, in a nice way Jane ;-) ;-) I wonder what storm Jane will be like, talk about keeping it in the family Jane LOL LOL :-D :-D

I'm so glad OH took the bench out of the skip, I'm sure it would of been blown onto our car otherwise. Putting it on the other side of the skip will at least stop it blowing our way. I think you're right Jane, the skip should really be covered in this weather. There hasn't been any workmen there for ages, so we're not sure what's going on. I really can't see the new people moving in this month. We can hear banging in the neighbours two doors down's back garden. We noticed he was outside at 8pm with a torch, he has a perspex greenhouse and one of the roof panels is out so maybe he was trying to do something with that, the panel is still out now.

We've been very lucky as none of my pots have blown over including the two 12 foot Red Robins, we put 8 pieces of concrete edging (3 foot long) around the massive pots a while ago and so far it's stopped it blowing over, I hope it stays that way. OH has checked the roof tiles all around the bungalow and they're all still in place, so like I said so far we have been very lucky.

I went to bed at 8.45pm last night, I've started with a sore throat and my back tooth is very sore and wobbly, the problem is I'm not registered with a dentist so I hope I don't need one over the weekend as I can't remember where I put the emergency dentist number OH rang when he had a bad tooth. I thought I had a good nights sleep but OH told me I was tossing and turning all night. He was up at 5.30 this morning and I was awake around 6am so no doubt we'll be wanting an early night tonight.

It sounds like you've had a lovely time with Hannah and Gareth (the people lol) Jane, did they enjoy their holiday?

How lovely to see your grandsons and great grandsons AnnG. Pity about the weather and not being able to use the ferry, I should imagine it wouldn't be running in this weather. It sounds like you've had a lovely time around the shops and haven't let the weather spoil it for you.

So you made the cake in the end Mel? It sounds like you needed the sleep yesterday afternoon if you slept for a while.
Don't forget the F1 starts today, we're really looking forward to it and hoping Sky doesn't go off with the bad weather.

I really must make a start on my sorting at some point Ann, it's been a few years since I last went through everything and stuff has been put in wardrobes and drawers again, so the Charity shops will be happy when I get around to doing it.

Frank Report 16 Mar 2019 10:30

Morning all,

Wind still blowing gale force here. A big pot outside the bedroom window went over in the night. I thought someone was breaking in. :-( :-( Now that I am showered and dressed, I will have to go and see if it's alright.

I have just had a Bacon and tomato sandwich for breakfast. The juices were running down my chin. !!! What a beautiful flavour. Ros has just made herself some porridge. I like it now again, but couldn't eat it every day.

We enjoyed our meal out last night. The place was heaving with people, and 7 tables had been put together with "RESERVED" notices on them. I expect they were expecting a large party. We were gone before they arrived. I do wish parents would keep their children under control. They were running in and out of the tables, the poor waitress's didn't know how to get round them. It's a wonder a plate of hot food didn't land on one of them. :-0 :-0 :-0

Can't see me wanting to venture out, in this wind at lunchtime. I might get Ros to drop me either up the club or down the pub, to watch a bit of football. I see the Rugby is on most of the afternoon.

My Mobile phone rang this morning, (FIRST TIME EVER) When Ros looked at it, it said I was out of funds, she only put £20.00 on it last week. So she's taking it back to Tesco's to see if there is a problem with it. I have told her not to bother putting anymore money on it, as I don't use it. We always have Ros's if we go out anywhere.

What are you all up to today, ??? Whatever it is, stay safe, and I will try to get back later. xxxx

Morning Ann and Gill and all,

It looks brighter out there this morning but there's still that blasted wind.

Slept really well last night and only woke once for the bathroom and dropped off again right away. When I woke this morning oh came back to bed for a while so I did'nt get up right way untill he did.

Yes nice cake ready for today with buttercream and seedless raspberry jam filling so tht will go down well with a cuppa this afternoon.

Usual Saturday, the shop and the egg delivery then the rest of the day is min e till I get lunch and cook dinner tonight.

Just had a sneezing fit so will go and get a drink now.

Annx Report 16 Mar 2019 12:39

Afternoon All,

Blowing a gale here too and the internet has been a bit iffy. That's good you had a good sleep Mel and the cake sounds delish. I like raspberry jam so I will be round this afternoon!! lol :-D

I hate throwing stuff out Jane. I think it's because my mum was always thrifty and hated any waste and when I was first married we didn't have a lot of money so things would be repaired and worn for longer. After watching The Great British Sewing Bee I found myself wondering if there was anything in the bags that I was taking to the charity shop that I could make into something else!!! lol. I had to stop myself going and having a rummage. :-) (sorry if I already said that before!) I'm sure OH wonders why I rush to get the bags out of the house so quickly, but it's so I don't have chance to have second thoughts about what I'm chucking out. :-)

Gill I worry about our new wall pots dislodging and smashing with all this wind. We must see if we can put an extra screw in the wall or maybe a bigger screw. For now I just keep them well watered so they are nice and heavy. Another way to stop pots moving is to hammer a 2 foot metal bar that will fit through the hole in the bottom of the pot into the ground so it sticks up into the pot about 12 inches. We did that with 2 chimney pots and it stopped someone stealing them. You couldn't move them around the garden then though. Has your OH finished painting the bathroom now? I wonder how far the workmen have got with the inside next door. I bet the couple moving in must be getting on to the boss and are fed up with it not being ready yet.

I wonder if AnninG will make the trip to Portsmouth today? I wouldn't want to be on a ferry in this wind, even if it could sail. All that pitching and tossing would send my tum funny.

Bacon and tomato is a lovely match Frank! Glad you had a nice meal and we would agree with you about children racing about and hot food! At the Farmhouse Inn place down the road that does carveries they have made it so children are only allowed in the big area at the bottom end and not around the bar area either. You should see the reaction of some parents who try it on to sit in the other areas with their children when the staff ask them poliitely to move! I saw one protest loudly that their child was well behaved etc yet the little horror was already racing around the other tables and fiddling with the cutlery on empty tables. Another time a family knocked their chairs over on the floor before they moved! What an example to set!

OH has gone with a pal to Yelvertoft to a match that is on. It's a woolly hat day today as he says any other hat will blow away. I might pop out, but this wind isn't good for photography. I just fancy a change of scene for an hour.

Jane Report 16 Mar 2019 14:17

Afternoon All

I cant see AnnG doing the Ferry today if it is as awindy there as here. Its dreadful.
I am ot sure if it is classified as storm Hannah yet though Gill.It cant be far off though.
I had one heck of a job trying to lift my shopping out of the trolley and heavign it into the boot whilst holding on tightly to the trolley as it was blowing around all over the place.I wa sso worried if I let go it would crash into someones car.

I love a Bacon a nd Tomato Toastie Frank :-D. We dont have bacon often but I always get it in when Gareth is here as he always cooks a bit of breakfast for himself. There is something about the smell of Bacon which is so good.

As for children being allowed to run around in restaurants or Pubs it could be quite dangerous with hot food being carried. Some parents sadly just let their children do what they want and b****** any one else. I know they probbly get bored but a colouring book or a sticker book or something can keep them well occupied for ages. I know that Michel always has something like that for William and James.Or even a tablet (I think they are tablets) to play computer games on.Anyway those hand held things children always seem to have these days. I am so out of touch with anything that children have these days.Janice will often mention something William has or kids tv programmes and I just look blank as I have no idea what she is talking about.

Mend and Make do. I remember Mum doing that when I was young.Turning Dads Collars and darning socks ,doing something with sheets too(I can't think what now)
OH will certainly need that wooly hat at Yelvertoft for the match. Mum was in a home near there for a while. at Sibbertoft. I wonder what the TOFT bit is.Is there a river Toft?

Love the sound of your cake Mel. I prefer a nice good old sponge cake with jam and cream rather than some of the more fancy cakes.I dont bake cakes now. The only cake to be made in this house these days is the Christmas cake and Chris makes that.

Gill you should be able google your emergency dentist in your area. I hope you havent developed an abscess .It could be your sore throat is all connected .It is never good to have something like this at a weekend. Gill can you not get registered .I would be so worried if I didnt have a Dentist. I actually have a check up this coming week. Hannah still is registered here as she trusts our Dentist .He can bore the pants of you with his talk but he is a brilliant Dentist.

I do hope everyones wall pots hang on tight and everything else in the gardens . I really keep expecting some of the panels in the greenhouse to pop out but so far all are in place. Chris was planning on doing the lawn but he will wait until tomorrow now as the weather looks like it might be better.

I will not be watching Rugby.I might see if there is something I can catch up on. Fitz keeps saying we need to watch The Crown. We had a good hoover and dust this week and I am up to date with all the laundry so I think this afternoon can be a free afternoon :-D. I just seem to feel extremely tired all the time at the moment.I don't know if it is my tablets but my energy levels are rubbish :-S
I must ring Specsavers as I am due an eye test and am sure I could do with new specs. My Mammogram appointment came yesterday so it is my turn now Mel :-D Aprl 12th at 4.09pm.

Frank there must be something wrong with your phone if £20 has gone and you havent used it. I do think it is sensible though for you to have your mobile with you .What if there was an emergency?

I might have some news for you in a couple of weeks. Don't ask me anything just yet. :-D

Katie and Lacey stayed again last night but have gone home now ,Chelsea wanted to stay to night but after having the two we need a rest today.

Frank that's odd the money has gone from your phone ,your sure it went on in the first place ? do you swipe a card for it or tap the code in ?i hope Ros can get it sorted you don't want to lose twenty pound .

Oh lovely sponge cake Mel i'll be round too with Ann :-D

Ann i would have been like you and wanted to have a rummage after watching The Sewing bee it's surprising what can be made with scraps ,i think the young lady that made the lace curtain dress has a good chance of winning she's very good .

Oh Jane :-D two weeks is a long time to wait .....could we not have a little clue :-D

I bet Hannah's pregnant OOOOOooooooooooo how lovely. I hope so anyway. Jane and Chris will make smashing grandparents and an uncle James too.

Sorry no cake to spare for anyone else as we are going to eat ALL of it ourselves like little piggies. It smells delish too. I'll let you know how it tated later when we have had some.

Its been blowing like wildfire here all morning and I had to watch the car door when I went next door to Em's to deliver the eggs as where I park there the wind comes across and could take the door off. When I got to the hsop I hung on to it but it was blowing the other so had to make sure it did'nt blow back at me whilst trying to get out of the car. I always have visions off the door going off up the road without me! :-0

Suns gone now and its rained a bit and come over much duller now. Washing wrapped itself round the line and I can't get a decent size washing line anywhere. I have the skinny one that goes in those whirligig lines and the pegs don't hold on it very well. I have even looked on Amazon for one.

Ann I do that with not going to Holsworthy too much now I put stuff in the Hospice shop bag and then take things out again. I must remember to take it with me next time. It would'nt have done me any good this week as the shop was closed for refurbishments.
