Good afternoon all. very cold here today and there was a frost this morning but no rain yet. I am not liking the look af tomorrow's weather though it is supposed to be worse then 'the beast from the east' of last year.
We just went round Tesco this morning and had a coffee in the hub. since then I have been floundering around on my family tree trying to find information for a second cousin. That made my head spin a bit as it is ages since I did any FH.
Jane, hope all went well today.
Frank, oh dear another bump, you must go more slowly and not rush at things. Hope it is not still painful and you fixed the light. Isn't it annoying when meat turns out to be tough? can you still use it, mince it up or something?
Mandy hope the blood test went ok and not too much leaked away!
Mel I have given up trusting this weather and always put washing in the tumble drier. I hate putting things on the line and having to bring them in again.
Gill hope your day stayed builder free.

Hi all,
I trust Mandy and Jane got on alright with their appointments.
Yes I managed to get the light cover on. I think it's the heat from the bulb that makes it expand, and loosens it. Might be worth Harvey looking at it, to see if it needs replacing.
The lamb I have given to Tracy for the dog. Pam and Denis have gone to the I O W. So today while Tracy was at the Charity shop I had Abbie her dog. Good as gold as usual, We will have her again on Wednesday and I think Thursday. Mind you, I will be here on my own Thursday as Ros is going to the NEC.
I\ve carved the chicken. It's ready for warming up this evening for dinner. The rest I have chopped up for a Curry tomorrow evening (Ros does that.)
Still not sorted the Programmer get, the Radiators are on. and then off. I just keep my eye on it. I bet it is a simple thing to adjust, but I don't seem to be able to sort it. I have tried. (I know I am very trying) lol lol.
Watching Nat. Geo. very good nature programmes. BE GOOD. xxx

Afternoon All,
Another windy day and the car was moving a bit on the road above the Vale of Belvoir on the way to Grantham. Some poor old Kites (bird variety!) were struggling to hover too. I got refunds on my trousers so that is all done now. I was tempted to buy some 'Stackers' those jewellery boxes where you buy and add layers, as many as you like, but decided I didn't know how many to get just yet.
The lady rang me back about the 2 day Friday pottery course I was thinking of going to, but they have those high benches to stand at to work. She said they have high stools, but being short, my legs dangle on those and you can't work and push clay around very easily like that, so I have decided not to go. She thinks they will have other free courses to try in the future and will send me details, so that is good.
Oh Frank, do you have an 'EGG' on your head like in the cartoons? You will have to be more careful, making yourself dizzy like that. I hope it isn't too sore.
Just 2 more weeks of OH's eye drops to go. He has to be weaned off them gradually so it's just 3 drops a day now.
I wouldn't fancy being in a lifeboat in rough weather Anne. The people who do it are very brave!
Hope you didn't get blood on your sleeve Mandy. They nicked a vein doing my first knee injection and by the time the chap had dashed to get a tissue and back it was running down my ankle.
I'm wondering whether to get one of the climbing Fuschias for a pot this year. Has anyone any experience of them?
I'd better DO something now before OH gets home from Lincoln. Not that he ever notices, just that I get fed up with myself when I can't be bothered. :-D

Afternoon Everyone
Well I am now on the list for a Hip Replacement. :-S . Fitz was put on the list too last week !!!. Would it be hilarious if we were in at the same time. While I was waiting to go in for my hip XRay I thought I would text Chris who was waiting in the car. I was saying how high my blood pressure was ,what my weight was and that I was on the list and just waiting for an Xray . I wondered why he hadnt replied and when I looked at my phone I realised I had only been texting someone else called Chris. It was one of British Gas men who had given me his number after he had done some work here on the boiler. WELL ,I was mortified and quickly sent off another text apologising and saying I wasn't really a daft old bat :-D. The people in the waiting room were in stitches!
How was your blood test Mandy?. No mess I hope. Its a devil to get out of your clothes . I think we will have to call you Mr Bump Frank after the Mr Men :-D. You could have done yourself some damage there.
Ann, You would be so uncomfortable on those high stools doing pottery. I would be just the same. If we are out at a pub and the only seats left are those stools I will just stand.Just getting on them is a floor show and embarrassing and then not being able to reach the foot bar too. Glad OH has not got too long left for his eye drops. I bet he will be glad when they are finished.
I must get the grub out of the fridge for dinner. Chicken Kievs for the men and a Cottage Pie for me. They are just spares left from the other day.
Hannah and Gareth are coming to stay tomorrow. :-D.They will stay for 2 nights and then go down to Gareths parents for the weekend. They should have landed now so hopefully I might get a call later.

Oh Frank what are we going to do with you bashing your head like that :-0 it can make you feel light headed though when you bash it like that . Did they show you how to use the programmer ? as you say it's probably a simple thing you have to do to it.
Ann that's a shame about the pottery course and it was free too ,but it's no good if you carn't sit comfortable while your doing it and it wouldn't be good for the knees . I haven't seen the climbing Fuschias so i'm going to have a google and see what they are like . I bought a packet of Night Scented Stock seed today ,mum use to have them and they smell so lovely in the evening .
So your on the list Jane ,did they say how long it would be ?i think Colin had to wait about three months for his last one . It would be funny if you ended up going in with Fitz :-D
No leaks with the bleed test this time ,she had a job to find a vein ,first she tried the right arm then the left and then back to the right . They don't put plasters on just a bit of cotton wool with sticky tape but she did use extra tape when i told her what happened last time .
Sounds as if we're in for more windy weather tomorrow .

Ours use the cotton wool and a bit of micropore tape too Mandy. I have to keep an eye on any tape they use as I come out in a red rash with a lot of them. It can't be very nice if they have to keep digging around to find a vein.
Jane I had to laugh at you texting the wrong person with your 'measurements'. :-D I bet he laughed too! So you are on the waiting list for a hip replacement as well as Fitz! What with me needing new knees as well, I think it must be that trip to Luton Hoo that's turned us into old crocks!! I forgot to answer that the Pesto Restaurant is Italian like you thought. I haven't a clue how to pronounce most of the menu so there will be some 'pointing to things', methinks.
It's good you got a quiet day today Gill with the only walls being knocked down the ones in your family tree! I must get back to mine too.
I bet Ros is off to the same craft show at the NEC that my friends go to Frank. It is a good one and you see things there you don't get elsewhere.

Micropore and a bit of cotton wool. Thats what I meant but could'nt think what it was called. The main thing is to hold it down really hard even after they put the tap on as this is what stops the bleeding.
Jane it would be funny if you and Fitz had the same day appointments for the hip surgery. I hope it goes off for you ok.
I have done a pile of ironing this afternoon so I am feeling pleased with myself and have given myself a gold star!! He he :-D :-D :-D
Shame about the pottery course Ann. I don't have trouble with high stools as I have one in my shed and my feet reach the bar ok. I can imagine it would'nt be nice to stand and do it with your knees Ann. Were they electric wheels. When I did it at school we had to drive the wheel with our right foot.
Spag bol for dinner so I just have to cook it now and we will have some nice garlic bread with it.

Mandy the Consultant said likely near the end of the year. But as we all know when it is winter ops are cancelled because of more admissions and no beds. Ouch 3 tries for your blood today!. I have always been lucky with good veins and the first stab does the job. When I used to donate blood it would fill the bag really quickly . I can't donate blood anymore because of the tablets I take for Psoriasis . If and when I stop taking them I still wont be able to give blood for another 3 years !!!!. It is because if my blood was to be given to a pregnant woman it could affect the unborn baby. So whatever it is I am taking it must stay in my blood for that long .
Storm Gareth is on the way :-D.I will blame Gareth for that one :-D :-D It does sound as though it could be a pretty bad storm. Not sure though what parts of the country will be hit worst .

A lot of the high stools they use in places like schools are really ricketty as well Mel, so it's hard to balance unless you are like my long legged friend who can keep her feet on the floor. Yes I asked if they are electric wheels and was told yes, but there is only 1 wheel between 12 people, so most would have to make things not using the wheel. Kneading and rolling clay all by hand while trying to balance on a wobbly stool doesn't appeal to me. :-S It was a bit like that with silversmithing and at one of the fused glass things I went to. You had to be getting up and down all the time too at those classes to fetch equipment as it's shared. Well done on getting your gold star for doing all the ironing!! lol. I sorted out the sheets and pillowcases in the end and threw some of the oldest ones out! :-)

Jane it sounds like you and Fitz could be the walking wounded together. I had to smile with you messaging the wrong Chris, an easy mistake to make. You must be really looking forward to seeing Hannah and Gareth again and hearing all their news. Good for James too I imagine.
Pleased to hear you didn't lose a lot of blood after your test Mandy, the phlebotomist at our doctors always uses cotton wool and micropore tape. She also has a job getting any blood out of me not helped by the fact they can only use my right arm because of my lymph glands being removed on my left side.
Frank hope your head isn't too sore after bumping it, you are certainly accident prone, please be more careful.
It's a pity Ann you won't be able to attend the pottery course because of the high stools there must be others that have the same trouble. Being 5ft 7ins I would be OK.
Mel it must be a day for ironing as I have also ironed, mostly Richard's shirts and some trousers of his too and a couple of blouses of mine. It's a nice feeling when it's done isn't it. Not a favourite job of mine along with dusting.

Jane I'd love to have seen Chris, the gasman's face, when he read your text. I hope you don't have to spend too long on 'the list' if it's decided that this is the best way forward for you.
I had a medical review today and the consultant is considering changing my medication, so gave me a leaflet to bring away and read. It's good that they do this, but I hate reading all the possible side effects and weighing up whether or not I want to change. It would seem that risk of infection is one of those mentioned. As I go into a primary school as a volunteer at least twice a week and also help at an after school club, it might mean a big change in my life if I want to avoid infection risk. The consultant is offering, rather than fully recommending that I change, so I will read the leaflet thoroughly. Decisions, decisions.
It sounds as if several of you have had very busy days and are preparing for outside jobs soon. I hope your bruises heal quickly Frank.... You must have given yourself a real bang.
It would seem that several of us have been having a lull with our family history. I haven't delved much lately and have several areas where progress is difficult, ...well I have got 3 different branches of JONES and also DAVIES marrying Davies in Wales....but on the other hand have been contacted by someone in New Zealand, who descends from my great grandfather's brother who emigrated and married a Maori lady. We have been e mailing, but now might meet, when she visits UK later this year. The Maori people have been keen to learn more about their English links, as they are so interested in family lines.
Bright blue sky today, still very windy, but not so fierce as yesterday. The sea was churning and choppy, when I saw it this morning. Lifeboat personnel are indeed brave to venture out to help others.

Anne I love to see the ironing piling up when its done and feel like I have acheived something when I put it away. I hate dusting as its back nearly as soon as you have done it. I don't think my little cheap hover helps as it seems to blow out dust as well as suck it up.

Morning all
Pouring with rain here today, they say the wind is going to be bad for a few days starting this afternoon........not looking forward to that. Luckily we don't need to go out for anything so will be safe indoors.
Two bumps on the head Frank....take more water with it lol :-D :-D Pleased to see there was no harm done, but please be careful, you might not be so lucky next time. At least the light cover is on now, lets hope it doesn't fall off again. Maybe it's a good idea to have Harvey change it for you, just to be on the safe side.
AnnG I found looking at my family tree a bit strange to start with yesterday as I'd been searching Australia for so long. I'd forgotten half of the sites I use for the UK so it took a while to get back into it. Yes, we stayed builder free yesterday and there's no one there again today. It's nice and quiet which is lovely, but it also means it'll take longer to finish if they're only doing a couple of days here and there. So mixed blessings. Did you find the information for your second cousin? I find if I'm getting nowhere a good starting point is the electoral rolls as the person I'm looking for may of moved, sometimes it helps. Good luck.
That's a pity you can't go to the pottery class Ann, maybe some of the other class's she's going to let you know about maybe more suitable for you. Not long now before OH's eye drops are finished, how are his eyes doing now?
Oh dear Jane, I wonder what the Gas man thought of your text lol :-D :-D It'll be nice to see Hannah and Gareth today, hope the weather isn't to bad for their journey. So you're on the list for a hip replacement and Fitz to, let's hope it's not cancelled as like you said they cancel a lot of ops in the winter.
Pleased to see your arm didn't bleed this time around Mandy, but what a palaver trying to find the vein I hope your arms aren't to bruised today.
It sounds like you've got your work cut out with your family tree Gwyn, with Jones and Davies, lets hope the lady from New Zealand can help you. It'll be nice for you both to chat about the different life styles each of your family members have, it should be very interesting. I remember the sea being rough in bad weather from when we lived near the coast, I think the lifeboat volunteers are wonderful people, but I do worry about them out on the rough sea. They all deserve medals for doing such a grand job.

Morning all,
Wet wet wet here this morn ing but its not windy YET. Its one of those gloomy old days today when you need the lights on to see what you are doing.
Had a lie in this morning. I was so cosy and comfy in bed I did'nt want to get up but knew it was shopping day so better make a move.
Rined all last night here and everything is soaking and soggy today.
Must fill the bird feeders up too as they are eating me out of house and home.

Morning All,
WET, WET WET here too and still raining. :-S :-S I have a hair appointment after lunch, so will probably look like a drowned rat after as 'Gareth' should be here by then! I just rang to see when I am likely to get a hospital appointment through from when I was referred before Christmas!! Last time they said March, now it will be May!
I hate dusting too for the same reason. We get a lot less now we have less carpet, but where does it all come from in the Bathroom?? LOL.
It sounds like you have the same weather Gill, so you are best to stay inside as you say. At least you may get a bit more of your FH done. :-)
I have some Jones's as well Gwyn, very often too many of them to search through with the same name!
Better get changed now as OH is dropping me at the hairdressers after we've done some errands.

Good morning to you all,
Same weather here. Wind and rain, I saw a BLACK BIN tumbling down the close this morning. I try to get mine in as soon as I am up and dressed.
New hips for you and Fitz then Jane. It would be funny, if you both had them together.
I don't envy the Lifeboat Crews having to go out in this weather. I remember when I was only married 8 months to my first wife. I was lost in a GALE FORCE TEN GALE. They had The Clacton, Southend and two others out searching for us. It was a weekend in June 1960 When there were, navy ships and steamers running for protection to various Harbours. We set of from Westcliff on sea at 6.00 am on a beautiful sunny morning. I rowed the six of us on a flat calm sea, to the cruiser we were delivering to Burnham on Crouch, when we were hit by this storm. The engines had a job to keep us upright. We were finally picked up at 4.00 am Monday morning.
Anne, what a pity you can't do the pottery class's. I believe they have one on a Tuesday Evening in Blisworth, that Ros is considering joining. That will be another evening added to the other things she does. Mothers Club, Stitchery Do, Choir etc.
It's the Blisworth mothers club 50th anniversary this coming week. They are having a celebration meal in the Village Hall. Some of the founder members will be guests of honour.
The poor birds must have a real job, flying around in this weather. POOR THINGS. The forecast is an absolute begger for this week. GARETH has a lot to answer to :-P :-P
I hope you manage to get around the shopping treck Mel, without being blown into next week. xx <3 <3
This new boiler is so much more efficient than the old one. It gives out so much more heat, that we don't have it on above 21 degree. Where as the old one it was up to 24
I have cooked down some onions in the gravy from last nights Chicken. Eos will then chop up the chicken and add the spices. I cleaned the carcuse last night and put it in the fridge.
You can hardly hear yourself THINK, with the rain bashing against the conservatory. If this is what we can expect for the next few days,we won't be going anywhere.
Carolyn said the CARPET FITTERS were in the pub yesterday, so it seems things are moving on. It will effect the Football Clubs takings, as they have been opened every day since the pub closed. I expect they will go back to their old opening times.
Stay safe and dry. Catch you later.xxxx

Sorry I neglected to say good morning to everyone. Looks like we all have the same weather. Just had a minor panic, trying to charge my new camera. I now have three cameras all in the same series TZ60.70 and 90. The first two use the same charger and I was assuming the third would too and couldn't work out why the charger wouldn't go into the charging slot on the camera. Until OH said it was the wrong charger, and I looked in the new camera box and found the RIGHT one. Panic over.
Gill the part of the family I am trying to sort out is from 1846 and before. I do have quite a lot of information but there is some that is conflicting. However I have an email from a 4th cousin in Australia from 2007, I contacted the address last night and she has replied so hopefully she can help sort it out for my second cousin. My Great great Great Grandparents are Joseph and Sarah, and so, it seems are many of the couples around them. :-D :-S
