I've just spent the last few hours doing a mini spring clean, the dust from next door is blowing through the air vents with all the wind we have, no doubt everywhere will be dusty again tomorrow, but for now it's nice and clean :-D
It's just started with light rain here, the wind is really blowy and it's not very warm. I've just had to put a clip back on a piece of glass in the greenhouse, so thought I'd better check all the other clips, we don't want the glass falling out, luckily it was just the one clip. I only noticed it because I stood on it, good job to as the only remaining clip on that piece of glass had moved down so the glass wasn't secure.
At least your chickens are sorted now Mel, now onto the bathroom and little loo. ;-)
I've never had a leak pie, it sounds nice Frank. Hope the weather isn't to bad when Ros goes to the NEC tomorrow. I only have a little camera, I don't even know what it is, I'd have to check. I'm the same as you Frank and don't know how to put the photo's on my laptop, it's really annoying as I'd love to email everyone with pictures of our gardens. Maybe I'll take another look one day, I might surprise myself and work it out lol.
Good idea to leave the charity shop for a drier day Ann, you don't want to get wet and cold. I think this bad weather is only lasting today and tomorrow then by Friday it should be a lot better.......well, I hope so anyway. Each time I look at the weather forecast it changes, so now I just look out of the window to see what the day holds.
Going to look at my family tree now, I got distracted with the housework so haven't looked at it yet.

Afternoon all,
No change in the weather, and it looks like it is going continue into the weekend.
Gill the light rain will help to dampen the dust for you. So you may not need to Spring Clean again for a few days lol . If you would like to try LEEK PIE. You will need a piece of pork, chopped up with chopped up leeks in a Bisto/oxo gravy. Boil until all is cooked. Let it cool then transfer to an oven proof dish, put in a funnel to stop the pastry sinking, cover with a Flakey Pastry, and cook until the pastry is nice and brown. All you will need then is mash potatoes. EASY MEAL, that I am sure you all will enjoy. Ross Baked Onion Roll consists of a Suet Pastry rolled out, she then adds Stewing beef chopped up, Potatoes chopped up and onions chopped up, sprinkle with Bisto powder. Wrap up in Greaseproof paper. Then Roll it up into a clean tea towel , tie each end with string, place in a large saucepan and boil for 2 hours plus. Serve with cabbage or brussels. Again a nice filling meal at not a lot of expense.
Cooking lesson over for today folks. I am going back to my book now. See you latter. xxxx

I see Frank is repeating himself again!!!!
I hav'nt made a bacon roll for ages. Same as the one Ros makes but I use bacon and onion in it and roll it up and wrap in greaseproof paper and a pudding cloth which I have had for years. Boil for the two hours again. Mum used to put mixed herbs in hers but I don't like those with bacon so I don't put those in. Nice bit of pepper though. Its nice with greens and mash.
I have done the bathroom and the little loo so feel I can have a rest this afternoon and do what I fancy. May do a bit of felt work.

Well the meal was delicious and different and we would certainly go again. On 2 of the set price lunch menus you could choose 3 items from a whole range of things so that was what we fancied. I had chicken fillets in a tomato, basil and oregano tomato sauce, garlic mushrooms and mixed roasted veg. OH had chicken the same, but with a roast potato, olive and pepper dish and a lasagne in a cheesy sauce. We did a few swapsies with each other too. We were surprised how much we got and even OH had no room for a desert which must be a first for him!
Yes, up the spout was about right Mel! The washing is out now though and a second load in the machine! It's got windier since we went out though. Aubergines are something I don't like either.
After my cot I'm off to The Works at Stapleton. The other day they had some large artist pads for acrylic painting and I hadn't seen such big sheets in pads anywhere before. I left it as I thought I could get them at The Works in the garden centre down the road. Blow me, when I looked there yesterday they hadn't got any and when I tried online I couldn't see any, so I'm hoping they haven't all gone now! :-S
The pie sounds very nice Frank and tasty with the flaky pastry and mash!! I bet it will be buzzing with people at the NEC. I must text my friend and see if they are going on Friday otherwise I could be turning up for beading to find no-one there!
Gill and Mel you are putting me to shame with the HW!! I think I will need to dust the dust off the dust in places soon!

It's a nice feeling when all the jobs you're set yourself for the day are done isn't it Mel? Did you do any felt work? I've had the error page to.
The recipes sounds very filling and not expensive, like you say Frank. Thanks for passing them on to me. Unfortunately the rain didn't amount to much in the end, so no doubt the dust will be back soon as it's still quite windy.

Just noticed your post Ann, I like the idea of the swapsies with your meal, both of them sound really nice. Did you get your artists pads in the end?

We do tasters if we have diffeerent things when we eat out too.
No Gill did'nt do any felt work. I must bring my mobile table back in the kitchen so things are to hand. I put it in the lounge at Christmas and thats where its stayed.
I have chicken thighs in the oven and am doing roast carrots and pots with a bit of cauli and peas so theat should keep him quiet.
I should really finish off my flying keys as they are still sitting on the kitchen table just waiting to have their wings stuck on and their strings attached so I can hang them from a ring at different lengths.

Evening all,
What a windy old day it's been ,the wind woke me up about half past four this morning it was so gusty ,it was bin day today and one or two bins had turned over we haven't had much rain just an odd shower this afternoon
Frank the Leek pie and the Bacon roll sound nice but not for me if i have much pasty now i seem to suffer after with indigestion so i steer clear of it now . So you've had some nice company today having Abbie at yours ,i bet she loves coming if she's getting spoilt :-D
Gill that was lucky noticing the loose clip on the green house with this wind you could have lost a few panes of glass once one had gone .
Good girl Mel getting your bathroom jobs done before you started your crafts , gold star :-D
Ann the birthday meal sounded nice what a good idea being able to pick like that ,and swapping was a good idea to so next time you go you know what things taste like , must have been good portions if you couldn't eat a pud :-D Did you manage to get one of the big pads from the Works ? We should be having The Works shop in the town soon ,i go into the shop in Norwich but it be handy to have one here in the town ,the childrens books are good value .
We have at last bought one of the match pots to pick a colour for the lounge ,i thought this was the one but now after i keep eyeing it up i think it's just a little to dark so i'll have to get another ,we've plenty of time as we're not starting it until end of April/May ,this one was Dulux Chic Shadow but now i think i might try Frosted Steel .

Yes I got the A2 art pad I wanted Gill and Mandy. :-) It looks a bit daunting to fill a big space like that with paint though.
Mel I still have quite a lot of things to finish off. Sometimes it's hard to get back into doing them again once you stop. I feel so tired today I think I shall have an early night and hope to do better tomorrow.
I must have a look at those colours Mandy, they sound nice.

...Just a quick 'Hello'.... I've another busy day tomorrow and it seems each day this week is just as packed. Retired? How ever did I find time to go to work? Got absolutely drenched yesterday, when on my way somewhere, so spent the next hour an a half at the venue, while the cold from my sodden clothes seeped into me.
Will read back on the thread and 'chat' soon, as I really should get to bed.

Morning all
Sunny here today and the wind isn't as strong, so lets hope that's the end of the bad weather.
Yes, I was lucky Mandy spotting the clip otherwise I think most of the greenhouse glass would of been blown out if that one had gone. I have noticed this morning a panel of glass has gone from our neighbours greenhouse, it must of happened in the night, luckily we have a place around here that has the glass already cut (standard) so you can pick up the pieces you need without having to wait for them to be cut to size. Your paint colours looks nice.
Are the flying keys and the other things you have made for a craft fair like last year Mel?
I see you managed to buy the A2 artist pad, I'm sure you'll find something big enough to paint on it Ann, you are very good at your painting.
Have a nice time away AnnG, are you going somewhere nice? I hope the weather is kind to you. Pleased to see you sorted your tree out, it's good when you manage to sort out loose ends.
It sounds like you are meeting yourself coming back Gwyn. Oh that's not nice sitting around in wet clothes, I bet you were glad to be home and be warm and dry again.

Morning Gill and all,
I had a well earned lie in this morning and oh called me at 10.45am. I was dreaming about having an appointment somewhere and having to park the car next to a big high chainlink fence. The nearest place to where I ws going was too near the back doors of the mobile thing I was going in and a bit further along there were double gates in the fench so not there. I drove on a little bit and there was another gate so I reversed up and decided to go in just after the double gates. people were coming out of those gates and I reversed into the fence and all the people said "that was silly was'nt it?" then I woke up.
Its rain rain and more rain here this morning and dreadfully miserable with it. There will be nothing done on the new chicken house today thats for sure.
Are any of you watching Traitors? Its quite good. Its on channel 4. I know Jane is watching Baptist and I am really into that now.
O Gwyn you ust have been so cold and uncomfortable sitting around for an hour and a half in wet clothes. I hope you got home and had a nice hot shower or bath and a drink. I remember once as a child slipping on a rock into the sea and I had on blue watch tarten slacks. Gosh did they feel prickley on the long walk back to the caravan and horrid too. Ever since then I can't stand to have wet trousers on my legs. It must have been off season too as I know I had my mock suede coat on wtih the fur lining. I must have been about 9.

Morning Gill and All,
Oh what a night I had. !!! Couldn't sleep to start with but finally dropped off after midnight. Was UP AT 3.50 AM making tea and reading. I called Ros at 7.00 so she had plenty of time to get showered, and ready. The Mini-Bus was outside Carol's at 8.45 so she walked down to get a front seat, with plenty of leg room. I have ordered her a electric scooter to get around. £15.00 a day. So not bad, at least she will be comfortable.
I have ABBIE again this morning. Tracy will pick her up around 2.00 pm. She has had the last CHEW STICK ,so I have put them on the shopping list. She is laying on the mat in front of the sofa, so no trouble at all.
Hope you have a nice break AnninG. The forecast isn't good anywhere in the Country over the weekend, so just GRIM AND BEAR IT. lol
The only way I could get on here today was go through the pages a 150 at a time. Finally got here. That Error page is getting a right pain in the A@@@.
Nothing worse than standing around in wet cloths, you seem to get so cold very quickly. Great when you can get out of those and into a hot bath/shower, and dry cloths on again.
Anne you seem to be very lucky with the restaurants around your area. You do get great selections of food. We have CHEF AND BREWER, HUNGRY HORSE, TOBY. to name a few, food O.K. but nothing like the food you described.I think John and Carolyn go to an Italian in Town, but haven't tried it.
Harvey popped up last night with the Mower. He said he tested it when he picked it up, and it looks in good condition. I have put it in the garage this morning, after it spent the night in the conservatory. I must get Denis's brushed down and return it to him. Barry only used it once, but was a great help.
I am going back to my book, not much more to read. Then I can look to see what Amazon have on offer, for my next adventure.
Wind has been very strong here with rain in it. So won't be going out. Stay warm and safe. See you later. xxxx
