Ooh a live mouse Ann. You were good to be able to catch it and give it a second chance. Thomas eats any mouse he catches. He brings them home but eats then just outside the back door on the patio. I just have to get rid of the bit of inners that he leaves :-S
I had a google for the Sea Horse Mandy. What a wonderful sculpture. I watched a little video clip of the sea coming in and covering it. Frank,I am glad you are feeling easier now with the rib pain. It does sound as though you have just pulled something rather than it being a rib problem .
Ann, I am glad everything went off ok yesterday at the funeral and that her ex did not appear with your Brother. That must have been a huge relief for you. How sad though that your Sister had not told you about having Lymphedema and Diabetes . The Lymphedema explains her leg trouble.I hadn't realised she had had treatment for Cancer when she was younger. I wonder if your card on the flowers just dropped off in transit.I imagine that could be easily done . I think Wicker Coffins are becoming more popular these days. I have even heard of Cardboard Coffins!.
I am being called as someone is on the phone for me

Gwyn my OH goes for it sometimes with gardening and then has to take paracetamol for his bad shoulder (and other aches). I think the problem is with our weather everyone wants to get as much done before the weather changes. We wouldn't have this trouble if we lived in warmer climes .I remember my Dad digging for hours in veg patches and then hrdly being able ot move. He already had a bad back :-S What part of Kent are you? OH's parents lived in Herne Bay.My son James went to Uni in Canterbury and would often go to Whitsable and Herne and have Fish and Chips on the beach. You are so lucky to live near the sea .I grew up by the sea and the beach was a 10minute walk away .Now I am so far away from the sea and I hate it. We are going to North Yorkshire in May and I am so looking forward to going to the coast there. There is just something about the air ,the smell of the sea, sound of seagulls.I really miss that. I shall start getting maudlin in a minute LOL
Just kicked Thomas out .He has been sleeping most of the day.I don't think he has even left the garden which is most unusual.
Sausages ,Mash, Spring Greens and Carrots tonight with lashings of gravy :-D

Thanks for putting that link up Mel ,it is a sight to see ,when they first said about it i thought the boats might catch it as it goes right under the water at high tide but it's further over on the bank not where the fishing boats come in .
Ann i'm glad yesterday went off ok but it must have been very sad for you hear all that about your sisters illness's ,i wonder why she didn't mention them to you . Perhaps the card on your flowers got blown away if it was windy .
We've had a lazy afternoon ,it's been one of those days when you just don't feel like doing any thing .....so we haven't :-D

Our electric went out this afternoon and it was'nt our fault because it came back on for a few mins and then went out again.
I hav'nt done anything much this afternoon. Oh has though he now has the roof on the new house and has put the doors on and put a bar across to keep them closed so he did'nt have to put a divider between them. It will make it so much easier to clean them out for this old girl. I can just open them both and get the old plastic spade in there and it will only take me a few mins to do. The only thing is I have a lots of little shelves round the edges which will have to be swept off. The old house only had flat sides to the floor.
Usual fillet steaks tonight with chips asparagus, mushrooms and sugar snap peas and a nice bottle of wine. Mmmmmmmm

The new house sounds as if it's coming along now Mel ,good old OH he can turn his hand to all sorts and that's good it will be easier for you to clean out with it having the double doors on , i'm sure you'll be able brush those shelves off with a broom . The girls will have to wipe their feet when they go in :-D
Do you think it was the wind that might have taken the electric out ?

The lifeboat horse is a nice sculpture Mandy and looks good emerging from the waves so it would be a shame if it couldn't stay.
I liked the Anthony Gormley figures near Formby, where the Red Squirrel Wood is, Gwn. They look so dramatic just standing there, some in the sea at times.
It's how my sister was with everything Mandy, she'd think she'd already told you things, then years later she'd talk to you as if you already knew! It was through not bothering to go for her smear test at age about 42 that her cervical cancer wasn't picked up quickly. They told her if she'd delayed a few more months it would have been too late. Her youngest son kept telling her to go and so she eventually did. Luckily it hadn't spread and a hysterectomy saved her.
With all that's been going on Frank I forgot about Barry doing your first lawn cut. It does sound as if you have overstretched some muscles somehow though. Maybe it was the cold on your back from the heating being off and until the workmen fitted the new boiler.

I see you're starting to feel less pain now Frank, that's good. Just take it easy for tonight so it does't flare up again.
My mum sounds like your sister Ann, she'll talk to me about something thinking she's already told me, it can be quite confusing having conversations with her at times.
The wind has died down now which is good, I really don't like strong wind especially after dark, it can be so windy here sometimes and the sound of it can be quite scary and it's not much fun seeing all our pots being blown over either.
I watched the weather forecast Jane and it does look like we might have a bit of snow tomorrow, that'll please Sandra if it's the right type of snow for her snowmen.
The chicken house is coming along nicely by the sounds of it Mel and being able to clean it easier is good to. I was thinking you could use a brush to sort out the shelves before you tackle the floor. Loved the horse in the sea. Hope your electric is working okay now. I wonder what made it go off, unless, like Mandy said it was the wind.
I've had a bit of a lazy afternoon to Mandy, I spent the morning colouring my hair and then I had a lovely hot bath which really relaxed me. I'm just watching Crufts with OH now, we didn't know it was on so have missed most of it, which we think might of been on during the week, but at least we can watch it over the weekend now I know it's on. I've put the first of the F1 on my planner as it starts again next Saturday, we're really looking forward to that and I watched the first of Gardeners world which was good as they were talking about conifers which OH and I were talking about buying, so that was interesting to.

Morning Mel and Mandy, morning all
We've got rain and SNOW like Mandy and it's very cold. Unfortunately with all the rain I doubt the snow will lay, plus there isn't that much of it at the moment. I'm wondering what the cold weather is going to do to all my bulbs as some of the Tulips are in flower and we have lots of other flowers now including primulas which I know don't like the cold. I hope we don't lose any and they recover nicely when it warms up again.
It's Sunday so Gladiators and 60 minute makeovers are being recorded ready for us to watch, it's become a routine now, which is nice on days like this. The heating is on so it's nice and warm.
I think it's going to snow where you are to Mel. If I remember correctly, it looks like most of the west coast of the country is going to get some snow over the next couple of days, so enjoy the sun while it's around.
Just going to put some food out for the birds. There's no workmen so far today so hopefully the birds will come for the food, which will please Sandra. I saw a couple of goldfinches the other day so I'm hoping they'll come back again and there's been lots of Robins and of course the various tits around to, I think it's because there's no workmen outside anymore so it's a lot quieter, we didn't have many birds visiting the feeder when they were working outside, so it's nice to see them back again.
I did laugh yesterday with all the wind, a poor Blackbird was trying to get a worm on the grass and the wind blew right up his bottie you should of seen him run across the grass, it was so funny to watch, Sandra was laughing her head off.
Hope the sun stays with you Mel, so your OH can get on with the chicken house, I should think it isn't going to be to much longer now before it's finished.
It's stopped snowing now and the sun is trying to come out, if that's the case then hopefully my plants will be alright. I worked really hard last year planting all the bulbs,(over 500 hundred of them) so it'd be a shame if I lost them.

good morning Mel, Mandy and gill, morning all. We have similar weather to you Mel, not been outside only just up and showered but it looks cold so not sure what we are doing.
Gill if it snows the flowers will be ok if they are not beaten down, they are fairly resilient but still it is nature and it will sort itself. If you are worried about any small pots of bulbs (i.e. not heavy) why not put them in the greenhouse while the weather is bad.

The rain and snow has stopped and now we've got the high winds back, it feels like winter again. At least the sun has made an appearance which is nice. The bird food is out so if they're brave enough to battle the weather there's food for them. Our garden is water logged again, but not as bad as it used to be before next doors extension went it, so it looks like our back garden is going to be slightly better now, unlike next doors front garden, that is like a swimming pool at the moment as their drive is higher than anyone else's so the water collects on their lawn. No doubt that'll be sorted once the new drive goes in.
Sandra's TV is playing up so she's just putting all her recordings on our TV in our bedroom. We have independent aerials and we think her's has blown around a bit so she keeps losing her signal. Luckily because she is on benefits she can have the aerial sorted for free, so I'll make the call tomorrow and have it sorted out for her. It to dangerous with the wind for OH to get up there and do it and the roof is quite slippy with the wet weather, better to get someone else to do it, I wouldn't want OH falling off the roof. In the meantime Sandra can watch her programmes in our bedroom until it's sorted.
Lunch is all prepared, so once Sandra has finished putting her recording in we're going to watch the Gladiators, Sandra looks forward to that programme every week.......bless her. Her favourite is WOLF, she thinks he's funny.

Didn't see you there AnnG, yes we were thinking of popping them back in the greenhouse but the snow and rain has stopped now and the sun is out so we'll keep an eye on the weather and put them in there if we need to. It's blowing a hoolie as my husband says, so not very nice weather to do it just now.
Sandra's just come into the living room, I assume her recordings are now done, so we'll watch the Gladiators before I put lunch on to cook.

We've had a short sharp hailish shower and now the suns out again. The wind is blowing a gale.
We have a problem with our flat roof over the half the lounge. we have a drip coming through onto the fireplace but nothing can be done till we get a good dry day. I have a bucket under it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just had two Long Tailed Tits on the feeders. I was only thinking the other day that I had'nt seen any lately and then they turn up.

We haven't seen any Long TTits for a while either Mel. Are they the ones who move around as a group all winter then split into pairs for the mating season and become territorial?. Still very windy here, one light shower but so windy that it was blown on its way very quickly. We decided not to go out so I have just potted up 16 small basket plants, can't think why it made me feel so tired, such a little job. I can only assume it was standing for almost an hour doing them.

Afternoon All My what a wind! There are bits flying everywhere.I think the little birds would be sensible to stay in the bushes today. It can't be much fun for them i nthis weather. I still havent seen any LTTits this year. Yes AnnG they do stick together in groups and I believe sleep together on a branch in a line to keep eachother warm. I wonder if the ones on the end get a chance to get in the middle at all :-D I think they are such sweet and pretty little birds.
Oh Mel not a leak in the roof !!!! Is is an old flat roof? We have a flat roof on the garage which must be coming to the end of its life (touch wood no leaks yet) and another flat roof on the extention porch room at the front.Again no leaks there so far.Our garage roof has to be over 20years old now. We did have it done but I cant remember when.
So you did have a bit of snow then Gill. I can just picture Sandras face :-D. Shame not enough for a snowman though.I think it rained quite a bit in the night. I know it was raining when Thomas went out at 4am.I think he probably just went straight into the summerhouse :-D
I expect Hannah will be enjoying her Birthay today.I know Garteh had booked somewhere for lunch and I think they are going to a concert later. I think it is Anns OH's Birthday too today. So Happy Birthday to them both <3

Afternoon All,
What another horrible COLD day. I have just been to the bin and the wind is blowing a gale down th side of the bungalow. We had a shower earlier now clear blue sky's.
Ros is sorting out her flowers in the vases and her ORCHIDS. When they go over she puts them in the porch to die off. Then, if they show signs of life again, she brings them back into the kitchen, and puts them on the windowsills. She always has loads of these.
I am watching Liverpool on BT sports. 2-1 up at half time. Conrad will be pleased. It's Jan's birthday today. Kerry, Mark and Alexander have gone done, Jo and Ella and Jans sisters are all meeting up for a Carvery Lunch, so that should be nice for her.
I am trying to sort out the thermostat/ timer on the Central Heating. The programmer seems to have a mind of it's own. I'm not a technical person, so will just have to do the best I can till Harvey comes up.
Roast Lamb, home made mint sauce, with all the trimmings. I did all that before 7.00 am this morning. Eos had a bad night again with her SIATICA (sp) So I let her lie in, she came out at 10. 30.
Nothing much happening, I see you are all well, which is good. xxxx

Just opened an Email from Ancestry from a woman who's MIL is 82 and has the name BROARD in her Family tree. which is the name of my Grand Mother. Her MIL is from Dagenham and my GM is from Canning Town, not a million miles apart. How strange. I have passed on all the info I have, so will wait a see. !!!!

Happy birthday to Hannah, Ann's OH and Jan, hope they all have a lovely day.
How is James at the moment Jane, is he having any luck finding a new job? Yes, we had a bit of snow, but nothing to write home about, it's still very windy and the sun is out. OH has had to move the table and chair down to the back of the garden as it blew over, hopefully they won't blow over again as it's more sheltered down there, behind the tall conifers. Even though it's very windy, the little birds are coming to the feeder for food, so that's nice to see, they collect the seed then go into our tall Red Robins to eat them where there's some shelter.
Sorry to hear you have a leaky flat roof Mel, looks like your OH will have another job on his hands now. Hope the weather improves soon so the job can be done quickly.
How are you feeling AnnG? I hope you managed to have a sit down and feel less tired now. What seeds did you plant up in your baskets?
Have you sorted your thermostat out yet Frank? Hope Harvey can sort it for you if you don't manage to do it yourself. I'm the same as you and not very technically minded. I'm pleased Liverpool are winning the match lol ;-) ;-) I hope the woman comes back to you, I'm sure she'll be very pleased with the information you have passed onto her and hopefully there'll be a match between you both. Good luck :-)
