Morning Frank and all,

We have sunshine but I can see the trees moving out the front so its a bit windy too. I hav'nt ventured out there yet I am just sitting here having my COT.

Usual things this morning like getting the paper and the egg delivery so quite boring really.

Sorry to hear you had a bad night Frank when you had such a good one the day before. Now you hav'nt been trying to do too much as you know you're not really healed properly yet. I too sleep on my right side.

I had a funny dream abot a huge oak tree that had the whole middle of it hollowed out so you could walk right insdie it. I was going to make it into a grotto. It was growing right up against our stone wall and was about 7' arcoss inside it with the perfect arched doorway. Then I woke up with a stiff neck and a headache.

Mel you have been reading too much Enid Blyton. and now you have me trying to remember where I have seen a huge tree that you can either walk inside or through. Hope it comes to me later.

Frank Could you have turned or twisted awkwardly and pulled a muscle on that side? Hope it eases over the day. Have you got any deep heat you could put on to see if it is a muscle?

You all seem to 'know' each other so well, so I will read back a bit to get to know you all a bit.

I'm having a lazy morning after an evening out yesterday.
We went to see a production of War Horse in Canterbury. Really skilled working of the puppets with realistic twitching of the horse's ears or tail.

Those puppets are amazing arn't they? The film was good too and a real tear jerker.

I had a look at all those huge trees on the link you put up. They are all so majestic and I bet they could tell a tale or two if only they could speak.

Hi Gwen, Welcome !!. War Horse was an amazing film. I had to see it twice, and if it comes on T V again will watch it again.

That wind has really got up here. It's blowing a gale. I did put my nose outside, but soon pulled it back. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Ros will be cold when she gets in, I don't know where she went shopping. I hope she stayed away from the outside garden centre.

I had had an hour doze in the chair earlier, now I feel really tired. :-( :-(

John and Carolyn are back from the USA tomorrow. Ros will get them milk, bread, butter etc. So they can have a drink, and sarnie when they get back, if they want one.

I had better put the kettle on for when Ros gets back. She will be surprised that I haven't walked up the club for the football.

Village news. Somethone mentioned that there is someone interested in taking on the PUB. They are looking for staff, before they decide, so fingers crossed. ;-) ;-)

Welcome Gwyn. It is always nice to see someone new here. The War Horse is something amazing but I would find it too upsetting with it being so realistic. I can cry at anything (I did in the Lion King ) but I know I would be a blubbering wreck with the War Horse.

Oh Frank,you do sound in a lot of pain. Hopefully as AnnG says it might just be muscle pain.Try the rub if you have it or even a heat patch. If the pain continues I would get it checked out just in case of of the ribs is causing the pain. Can you breath in and out OK?

I have just sent pics of H&G arriving in Venice.I though you all might like to see.

The wind is bad here again and with all the roadwork signs and barrier things they are being blown across the roads :-S. The sun is out at the moment but there have been a few showers.

Gill I see on the weather that snow is forecast up North or maybe even your way. Do you think you might get any?

Don't they look relaxed Ann :-D They are not going to do a Gondola ride. It is 80 euros for 30 minutes !!!!!. We never did that either as it is not as Romantic as you imagine as there are so many and it can be like being stuck in a traffic jam :-S. The Japanese though just love them .

Mel what a dream that was. I think I wrote a story at school once about living in a Hollow in a big tree. Magical :-D

Hi to Gwyn, and welcome to join our chat! I loved the Warhorse Film and would have liked to see the stage play too.

Another really breezy day today. We are just back from the carvery down the road and the chairs around the tables outside were blowing over and towards me as we went inside. The red face was back by teatime yesterday, exactly like last time so I expect it will be the same as before and be ok by Monday! I had the headache too but at least I know it is all nothing to worry about this time. Luckily the redness wasn't there for the funeral. It was freezing waiting outside the crematorium as the covered canopies seem to form wind tunnels! It all went well and my sister's ex didn't turn up with my brother after all. I suspect my brother didn't want to go in the end as he doesn't like social situations and much interaction with his illness as he finds it stressfull. The wicker coffin was really nice, more homely somehow and less austere than a wooden one. We were a bit disappointed that our flowers arrived without the card we had written attached to them, but I expect these things happen at times. She had never told me, but it seems she had lymphodema after she had cancer treatment at age 42 and this helped cause the problem with the circulation and healing of her leg. I also found out that she was also diabetic, something else she'd never mentioned. We may still have months to wait for the coroner's verdict on her cause of death.

Jane, it is a shame how so many towns are becoming ghost towns with so many shops closing. We read in our local paper last week that we are now to lose Waitrose in the next village. It has been there over 40 years as well and I went there every week at first, as it was the only supermarket around here then. I don't think it has helped that the local council started car park charges a few years ago. People go to the retail park a couple of miles away instead where there is more choice as well as free parking. I expect it won't be long before other shops close as well. Hannah and Gareth look as if they are enjoying Venice and the weather looks nice and sunny.

Frank I expect it will be cutting the lawn that has made your ribs hurt, so be careful won't you or you will set things back. I think your new boiler will be more efficient than the old one, I know ours was, and it will save you more pennies!

Gill, I wonder if your neighbour might like a nice perfume to dab on? I suppose you would need to find out what she likes from her daughter though. Maybe a selection of birthday cards she could give to the friends and carers in the home she is at would be appreciated? Or a nice clock with big hands for her bedside table? It is a bit of a difficult one isn't it. Fancy the work having to be redone nextdoor with the underfloor heating needing to go in. That will slow things down even more.

OH has gone to a match near Nottingham with a pal he hasn't seen for a while, so I think I will pop out for a while. My car could do with a run as it has been in dock this week! Mind you I shall be returning more trousers at Grantham on Monday so it will get a really good run then. BBL

Hi to Gwyn ,nice to have you with us :-D i haven't seen War Horse but i have seen the model of the horse when they were advertising the film and it looked amazing with the people working all the limbs you almost believe it's real .

On our coast at Wells Harbour in Norfolk they have The Lifeboat Horse - made from steel bars and old whisky barrels - was created by artist Rachael Long for the 2018 Wells Heritage Art Trail and it is her property but now the town has raised £15,000 to keep it there ,it gets covered by the see when the tide comes in .

Oh dear Frank do you think it might be a muscle you've pulled ,perhaps when you got the mower out, i hope the pain eases soon for you .
I think you'll get blown to the pub if you go out ,it's quite rough here ,we've had a few heavy showers but some lovely sun shine in between the showers it's really warm through the glass.

I had a strange dream last night for some reason Colin and i were on a bus ,he hopped off to go to Boots and the bus took off with out him so i was left with all the cases and then i woke up. :-D

Afternoon all

Blowing a hooly here as OH has just said, not sure what hooly is but it's very very windy. OH had to move his car this morning from outside our place so the big concrete truck could pour the concrete into the container for the workmen to re-do the new extension floor, then had put underfloor heating in, so we were right. I should imagine the laminate flooring will be going back down sometime next week. The workmen were really nice, explaining that with all the wind they were worried the concrete might be blown onto the car, they are the first workmen to mention possible mess and give OH the chance to move the car out of the way, they even hosed everywhere down and left it all nice and clean. I wish all the workmen were like that.

Talking of the War Horse, it's just reminded me I've got the DVD, I've had it for a few years but never got around to watching it........now, where did I put it???? :-S

Hello Gwyn, nice to see you on here, I hope you stay. I've just taken a look at the woodland trust site you put on here and was hoping to see the oak tree in Cheshire (that's where I live) but when I read further it's in a private garden :-( It would of been nice to have seen it. I wonder if the owners have done anything with it.

That was a strange dream Mel, I hope your aches and pains have gone now. Maybe you were trying to look up into the trunk in your dream and twisted yourself.

So we might be getting some snow then Jane, that'll please Sandra, you know what she's like and the last time we had a bit it was to wet for her to build a snowman. Fingers crossed if we do have some she'll be able to make one this time around. I haven't check the weather for a while, so will keep a look out later. Love the pics you sent, they look like they're having a great time. 80 euros is a hefty sum, they only want to go on it, NOT BUY SHARES IN IT LOL :-D :-D ;-)

What a shock that must of been finding out all those things about your sister Ann. It sounds like it was a nice send off for her. Pity the weather was so cold though.
Yes a bit of a delay but not much by the looks of it, just the laminate to go back down which shouldn't take to long then it'll be back to the way it was, it only took a few days to do which isn't bad.

Thank you for all the idea's for Vi's 100th, I have a bit of time yet, so will take a look around to see what I can find. I'd like to get her something with 100 on if there's anything out there, I've seen things with other ages on but there doesn't seem to be much around with 100th birthday on. I'm sure I'll find something nice for her though, we're just looking forward to seeing her again and hopes she has a nice time on the day.

Ros came back from Morrison's loaded down with more plants for the garden where she will put them I don't know. But she does love her garden. xx

My back feels a lot better this afternoon, so it could be I pulled something. I do try to be very careful with it. I isn't do any mowing yesterday. Barry came and did the first cut and trimmed round the edges. I might try doing my own, until I need other things doing, then I can call Barry again.

Denis and Pam are off to the Isle of White tomorrow to Warners at Bembridge, together with his best man and Pams bridesmaid. (husband and wife) they are celebrating the DIAMOND WEDDING. We have bought them a "DIAMOND WEDDING ROSE" which they are going to put in a big pot in the front of the bungalow.Lets hope it lives and blooms in the summer. ;-) ;-)

I have just had a large piece of French Stick full of Prawns and dressing. Full up to the brim now, so doubt I will want to eat tonight.

Martine's husband Brian has been back to the hospital about his LUNGS. They have told him there is nothing more they can do for him, so he will have to live with it.

Just going to put up the football matches so I can follow the scores through the matches.

Ann so nice everything went off ok yesterday and you did'nt have the dreaded red face. Fancy your sister not telling you about the other things that were wrong with her.
The coffin sounded nice. I would rather fancy one of those for myself when the time comes.

Mandy tht horse is lovely and I can see why they want to keep it there and it would be a shame if the lady took it away.

Jane, amidst all the tension of the story, there were also amusing little moments to lighten the mood. A farmyard goose chased around the set a few times and got a great cheer when the puppeteers came on stage at the end of the show.

Folkestone was lent 2 of the Antony Gormley figures for an Art project. I went to see them sited just where the tide would lap them at certain times.
They've gone now.
I'd like to see all his beach figures looking out to sea.

It's been wild here most of the day, but sounds calmer now.It's been dry though.We often have strong winds funnelled through the Channel, but usually escape the worst of the winter weather, so I can't complain.
It was warm and sunny a couple of weeks back and I did some long overdue gardening. Trouble was I knew the forecast was not good, but boy did my back know the next day that 3 hours as a beginning was not the best idea.
I used to wonder when I was a child, why Mum would stop and potter on her way back to the house from the garden. Now I think the gentle potter is probably ideal for keeping weeds down in a more manageable way and for noticing the next job to tackle.
