Evening all,
Well we had decided to go out on the garden this morning to do a bit but after hanging out the washing i came in chilled to the bone so no gardening got done ,i did get the washing dry.
Glad to hear you nice and warm now Frank ,you might have lower gas bills with the new boiler . I think Ros is right in saying you should leave the meal for a while
Oh dear Gill that polystyrene can make a heck of a mess and i suppose the wind has broken it all up ,they must have known it would blow all over the place in the wind .
So you got your love of gardening from your Grandad Mel ,how lovely that he made you the little watering can and bucket, I remember having a little plot to plant some seeds although it seemed to take for ever before they came up :-D
Ann fancy the chap not giving you the leaflet last time you went for your injection ,you might have been more prepared for the side affects if you'd had that to read . I hope it doesn't happen again this time , how does the knee feel now ? So you'll be ok this summer if you get any wasps :-D Will be thinking of you tomorrow as you say your goodbyes to your sister <3
Oh poor James so much going on for him at the moment i hope the time off work can help him have a nice rest and sort things out ,he has a loving mum and dad there for him . I've heard of MineCraft Jane ,it's a game i think Jake likes playing .
AnnG i like all the cards you've made ,there's some really pretty one there .

Morning All,
It looks like the injection is keeping me awake again! This one was in my best knee but it has been a bit more achey than the last one. Still no red face yet so maybe l won't need to plaster some foundation on my face.
Mel, I remember making a coiled snake from clay at school, a terra cotta coloured oval dish with painted patterns on that I liked, although years later I realised the pattern on the inside l'd drawn did look a bit like a swastika!! First OH knocked that off a table and it broke. The only other thing I made was a taller dish with a narrow opening. That was a lovely Wedgewood colour mottled with white. I think that must be in the loft if I still have it. I would love to be able to make garden pots you hang on fences or walls, but they sound a bit ambitious for a beginner. The 2 day free course is for the over 55s and would be a good way to gain some basic knowhow.
Better start counting sheep again.........

Morning all
No rain so far today, which is good as I think the plants have had enough for now
Luckily Jane the polystyrene was in sheets, but with the wind it broken up a bit, so it made more mess. Sorry to hear James isn't in a good place at the moment, I hope he finds another job now he has some time to look for one. It's nice he has you around for support, it sounds like he needs it right now. Hope the flight goes off okay and the wind doesn't delay Hannah and Gareth. So the fella got 12 months, although like you said it's not long enough and he'll probably only do two thirds of that. I can't see him winning an appeal either.
I love all the cards you made on your blog AnnG and the pretty pics of the flowers and birds. I only had a quick look the other day so it was nice to have a proper look today. The purple cards are really lovely.
Pleased to see you have your boiler up and running now Frank, at least you have peace of mind knowing you've got your hot water and heating sorted now. That's the problem with dust it gets everywhere, you'll probably find you'll be cleaning for a few days before it's gone completely. Congrats to Conrad for selling three villa's.
I see you went to the library Mel and you'll all stocked up for another month, that was nice of her to keep you the books from last month.
How is your face Ann, I'll be thinking of you today and hope the weather is dry for the funeral. Hope you managed some sleep in the end. The new pottery class sounds like fun, pity it clashes with your beading though.
It looks like the boss next door may of made another mistake as there is broken up concrete in the skip which can only have come from the floor of the new extension, so we're not sure what's going on there and why the floor has had to come up, the kitchen is in there now and the new white goods, plus the laminate flooring, so all that is going to be filthy now. It's like one step forward and twenty back with this work. We also noticed the roofer was back looking at the lantern window on top of the extension, so we assume that is leaking to.
The boss is there at the moment but we can't hear anything, so we don't know what's going on, but at least the concrete bits are keeping the polystyrene in the skip so hopefully no more of it will blow out onto our garden. I expect the roofer will be back sometime today to sort out the leak, if there is one. I wonder how long it'll take to finish the jobs now, I doubt the new owners will be pleased if there's anymore delays with them moving in.

AnninG I did see your cards on your blog. Love the dragon ones. Do you have an embossing machine?

Good morning all,
Nothing sort of day here again. Barry is suppose to be coming about midday to cut the lawns, I hope they will by dry enough.I have borrowed Denis's mower until Harvey collects and brings up the mower I bought, also the one he is going to repair, where the handle I took apart, shot the springs out.
Next door to you Gill sounds a right "CASSIES COURT" Not heard that in years. lol lol I would think the new owners are tearing their hair out with all these delays and messing things up. Are they a local builder, with a good track record.?? By the sound of things they are NOT. !!
I have mislaid my glass's the ones I use for the computer. I have turned the house upside down. DON'T LAUGH. I just remembered where they were. In my jacket pocket from the other evening when we went for a bite to eat. What a "SILLY BILLY" I am. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I have shin of beef out of the freezer for tonight. That will be chopped up in a casserole with various veg that Ros bought yesterday. NOT IN THE CASSEROLE !!!
When she went to pick up my denture yesterday, the Company DO NOT TAKE DEBIT CARDS. CASH ONLY. I bet a lot of what he takes goes in his back pocket. !!! We have noticed more and more Chinese Takeaway only take CASH, as do Ros's nail girl. Again Chinese. I wonder if the Inland revenue have any knowledge of these people ??? It does seem that the news says we will soon be a CASHLESS SOCIETY. Not the Chinese Community though lol lol
I had a reasonable night last night. Eos came back from Choir practice about 9.15 I went to bed to read soon after and was settled down by 10.30. I didn't feel her come to bed. I was up by 7.00 Had three COT (LOVELY) and sat reading. Ros came out around 8.30. I made her tea , and I went for my shower and shave. So a nice clean boy now. !!!
I bumped into an old pal in Tesco the other morning, he asked when I was going to come up the Club on a Friday evening.?? I said I might try to make it this week, so we will see if I do.
Birds are very busy with getting ready for nesting. I keep seeing them coming and going with moss and leaves in their beeks. I must have a look in the bushes next time I go down the garden.
Look after yourselves ladies, see you soon xxx

The boss sub contracts out Frank so I don't know much about them all, they seem nice people but watching the work being done......well, put it this way I wouldn't employ them. We've started calling them bodgit and scarper.
Hope the weather stays dry for your OH Mel, while he's building the chicken house. Is it almost finished now?

glad you found your glasses Frank. I know just how that feels as I am always losing my phone and have to think where I last had it. Its usually in my coat pocket when I have been down the local shop. If its not there I have to ring it!
Hope the weather holds for Barry to come and cut your grass.

Grass all cut for it's first of the season. Barry did Tony's back lawn while he was here. As soon as he put the mower away it started raining. We had quite a heavy shower, but it's stopped now. But as they say "The sky looks full of it" another old one. !!!
Ros's Godchild's mother is 91 on Monday, so she's just popped her card in the post. I'm not sure if, or what she sent her, for a present. I don't get involved.
If this weather continues I can't see me wanting to go to the Club tonight.
Sounds a good name for the builders Gill, it made me smile. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I can smell the casserole, I put it on a little while ago, so it can tick along on a low heat. The meat should melt in the mouth by 6.00 pm.

Good afternoon from a bitterly cold but dry Gloucestershire.
We have been to Dobbies garden centre today, even though it is bitterly cold and not my gardening weather.. We already had joined their loyalty scheme when they took over our biggest Wyevale last year. However today we paid £12 to update to the premium loyalty scheme. By doing this we get 2 free cups of coffee a month and 10% off plants, seeds, bulbs etc. (well that is what it said but today we got 10% off everything we bought which even included a reduced book). So far we have saved £3.40 but didn't have the free coffees as we had already had coffee before we joined. that doesn't matter because we will go down there again before the end of the month.
today we bought some purple gladioli corms, 16 basket plug plants and a pack of lobelia seedlings to pot on. couldn't get any more plug plants as we don't have enough room in the conservatory for them (greenhouse heaters are full) we have one more heater that can go in the conservatory. After we come back from our weekend away next week we will be able to buy the remainder.
Frank pleased to hear that you have got your lawn cut Frank, I expect the garden looks all tidy now and a weight off your mind. And I can smell that casserole from here Mmmm!!
Mel, glad you liked the cards. Yes I have a Gemini automatic die cutter/embosser which is excellent to use.
Jane I hope the 5 weeks off that James has been given helps him to adjust to his situation both at work and in his personal life. Hopefully he can find another job as well while off. You might find he just wants to 'lick his wounds' in private so your support will need to be unobtrusive. But just knowing you are there if he needs you will be enough to support him.
Gill glad you liked the cards when you had a second look. There are a lot of garden photos on the blog if you trawl back through the years but craft photos were originally on my other blog (which also had some of Annx's jewellery on it a couple of years ago. I can't believe those builders next door to you, it seems to be one thing after another with their mess ups.
Annx I hope all went well today and that it was not as cold where you are as it is here. Also hope your knee is not giving you too much trouble and your face is not red.

AnninGlos, I see you are looking into the KNIGHTS. Ros was a Knight. Her father was born and breed in Earls Barton, Northampton. He had one brother who also lived in the village. I don't know too much about them. but I do have them on my Family Tree. I can look if there is anything I can help with.
I must spend some time updating mine. I said to my Niece and Nephew last Sunday. I need all the nieces and Nephews dates of Birth of them and their Children and Grandchildren. If and when they give me the info. I will add it to my tree.
Been showering here all afternoon, so not a pleasant evening in store. I can see me sitting at home tonight in the warm. I sit through the SOAPS as Ros likes them. I will turn over to find something later.. that I might want to watch.
Have given the casserole a stir and the gravy is thickening up nicely. Will be great to soak up in the mash. Mmmmm.

Hi Frank, thanks for the offer. However, my Knights (or my OH's) originated in Somerset and Devon and seem to have been pretty static in the area. Mind you I have only taken this branch back to about 1800 so who knows. But if you find any link with Devon let me know. thanks again. My slow cooked chicken thighs smell good cooking as well. :-D

That was timed right having your lawns cut before the rain started Frank, I bet it all looks lovely now. You're not the only one who thought there maybe a connection between AnnG's tree as we have a surname the same too, although we're not sure the area's match. 91 is a good age, our old neighbour is 100 in May and is having a bit of a party at the home she's at. OH, Sandra and I have been invited, so that's something to look forward to, it'll be nice to see her again, although we'll not telling her about her old place as we think it might upset her. I haven't got a clue what to buy her though, so will have to put my thinking cap on.
You did well with your loyalty card AnnG getting 10% off everything including the book that had already been reduced must of been a nice surprise and like you said you have until the end of the month to take advantage of the free coffee's.
What a shame you have rain again Mel, but at least the chicken house is coming along nicely and sounds like it's not far off being finished. I remember having to ring my phone once when I lost it, luckily it wasn't on silent lol.
Well, what can I say about next door. OH noticed an underfloor heating van earlier so we think they're taking the new concrete floor up to install the heating, so putting the floor and laminate flooring, plus the kitchen in was a complete waste of time. Now they'll have to start all over again. I did notice the new owners there before, so I think it must be them that have changed their minds and now want the heating as it didn't look like they were upset by it all. Talk about a waste of time and money. Definitely a Bodgit and Scarper company and one I will definitely be avoiding. I'm glad the name made you smile Frank lol ;-) ;-)

Afternoon All It is pouring with rain here now.YOu were lucky your lawn got done before the rain came Frank.I think Chris will have to ring up soon and see if our mower is ready to be picked up. The lawn is definitely looking like it could do with its first cut of the year.
Nice day out for you AnnG and a bit of saving too :-D. Chris orders lots of things from Dobbies.Soon the postman will be delivering all sorts. He is always interested in what veg we will be growing as he has an allotment and grows all his own veg.He takes his children there in the holidays so hopefully they will grow up loving growing things. As a very young child I would help my Dad pick the peas, beans ,Goosegogs,Blackcurrants etc. I have always loved eating the peas straight from the pods and get a telling off from Chris LOL when he sees me scoffing them . They just taste the best when scooped out of the pods.Chewing the sweet pods is nice too :-D
I see poor Ann was still awake in the early hours. I wonder if it might have been the thought of going to her Sisters funeral this afternoon rather than the injection. I am sure i would not have slept a wink .
Unobtrusive support is exactly what is needed Ann for James. Perfect words :-D. Today he has actually been to help a friend of his who is renovating his new house .I am sure that would have been just the right thing for James today. Doing something physical and not having to talk about all that is going on.I just think a couple of days like this is what he needs right now.I was a bit worried he might have decided to go down to Jess this weekend again. But he isn't. He has been out helping Jake since 8 this morning .I am not sure what time he will be in...(nothing new there :-) )
I expect Hannah and Gareth will now have experienced the Grand Canal in Venice and are now out exploring. I had a look at todays weather there and it looked like sun all day. So the perfect day to arrive . I am waiting for some pics !!!Maybe tomorrow :-)
Hope you enjoy that delicious casserole Frank :-D. I think sometimes a good casserole and mash can be just the best meal.. Chicken Kiev here for Me and James. Chris will have his Fish Pie :-P that he couldnt eat the other night. I really do not like Fish Pie
Janice and Larry are off to Crufts on Sunday. The highlight of the year for them.I have lost count now the number of years that they have been going.

Bodgit and Scarper made me chuckle too Gill :-S :-S Maybe just a lovely card and a bunch of flowers would be nice for May's 100th Gill. The other thing I am thinking of is a tiny vase with an artificial flower set in a clear stuff (that looks like water) They look so real and take up no room. I bought one for my Aunty Betty when she was in the home and she loved it. That might be better than fresh flowers.
How has OH got on today with the new house? He must be nearly there now :-DThe girls will be packing up ready to move soon :-D :-D
Still raining here. Thomas is in and all dried off.
I went into Kettering town centre this morning to a Jewellers to buy Janice a present for her 60th next month. Oh my goodness what a depressing place it is now. No M&S . Burtons, New Look, Smiths, plus other places shut down. Plenty of E Cig shops, betting shops, odd cafes, and lots of empty shops To Let. It is a Friday and it used to be a thriving place a few years ago on a friday with a good market .It was a very sad place to see today.I won't be going back there any time soon thats for sure. Nothing much to go there for :-(It is so sad to see how much things have changed in a bad way in just a short time.

What a shame Kettering town centre has a lot of shops closed down Jane especially when it was such a great place to shop. Thanks for the idea of a gift for our old neighbour, her name is Vi her birthday is in May. I still can't get my head around the fact she was born in 1919. She used to live next door to my Nan before she was our neighbour. She's the lady who had a fall in her back garden and called my OH her hero as he sat with her outside in the middle of winter (January) in the freezing cold until the ambulance arrived 2 hours after we rang for it. Sandra and I made hot water bottles to try and keep her warm, she had a broken hip and it took her a while to recover, but she never forgot all the help we gave her. I really miss her living next door.

MORNING ALL, I won't say good Morning. I had a terrible night last night. How i have done it, I don't know, BUT my RIBS that I broke have been giving me "GIP" Whichever way I turned in bed they seem to hurt. Most of the night, I have laid on my back, which is unusual for me. I always sleep on my right side (the broken rib side). I was up making tea by 6.00 am, as I couldn't lay any longer. It's more comfortable sitting in the chair. So I can see thats where I will be for the day, after my shower and getting dressed.
AinG. It was just a thought when I saw KNIGHT. who knows Ros and OH might be related lol lol. ;-) ;-) ;-) What would that make us ??
Gill, will be difficult to buy for a 100 year old. A nice card and flowers would be perfect I would imagine. GOOD LUCK.
So Janice is 60 soon. For my 60th Jeff my old Boss. Wrapped up a zimmer frame he had borrowed, and gave it to me for a laugh. You can just imagine my face when I unwrapped it. Everyone in the garage laughed their heads off. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Reasonable sort of morning at the moment. Clear sky and no wind. The Forecast isn't great but there again it is still March. Roll on the warm weather. <3 <3 <3
Time for more tea, see you later. xxx
