Evening all... I am losing the will to live, lolol.... it has taken me numerous attempts to log in... and it hasn't let me add any posts yet... fingers crossed for this one./... I am off to bed in a mo... nothing on tv, and all my achy bits are playing up... must be the weather!

Ann, I'm sure it will still look lovely... and the gravel in that spot will leave you space for a few tubs, lol

Mau, they come out with some funny things, don't they? My two are in their mid 30's now.. and we still use some of the things they said when they were small, like strangled eggs, and smashed potatoes!!

Huia... it is a lovely saying, and brings perspective back when things are tough... I have been a little bit maudling the last couple of days, so it was a timely find for me, too!!

BC.... what colour do you want the jacket, and do you mind a sewn one rather than a knitted one... I don't do knitting!! lol

Well... off to bo bo's now, see you all tomorrow!

Morning Maz... sun is shining here, too!! I feel sooooooo much more cheerful than the maudling wench I was yesterday, lol.....

Ann, have a wonderful day........ xxxxxxxxx

Well... we are on a generator at the moment... there is work going on with the electrics in this area... so I have decided to go out again, lol... they have asked that we take it easy with the equipment we use (no dishwasher, washing machine or vacuum cleaner for me today ;¬))

I have made an appointment for the GP for next week... well, the 8th, actually.... as my achy bits were very bad yesterday... better today, but still not wonderful... and I now want some answers... we have proven that I am not a malingerer.... if I say I am poorly or in pain then I flipping well am!!

Of course, I had a lot of scans and x-rays while in hospital, and they have proven that there are some actual problems that were being ignored... my spine, for instance, has mechanical damage....it showed up on a ct scan.. so I really do have backache, and it is not a part of my menopause!! But all of these scans etc were to rule out damage from the treatment I was having... I now need to see other specialists to find out why I hurt sometimes! I was unofficially diagnosed with RA... but never got to see a rheumotologist... and I wonder about that, now, as although I have many of the symptoms, I do not have the hot joints, although they do swell a bit.

Right.... back to being positive, lolol.... I am not sure what I want to buy... I have a nasty suspicion that I really am going to have to concentrate on the necessities, like bread and milk.... and catfood, lol... which is just sooooo boring. I have written a list, and there is nothing frivolous at all on it!! Now that just isn't like me... I think I shall just go to a different supermarket for a change... we have a nice Morrisons a few miles up the road, I think I shall go there!! Now there's adventurous, isn't it? lololol

Must go and get ready... and switch off my pc, lol!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

ah, you all make me feel so clumsy and unartistic! H is so good at craft things, she clearly takes after my sister as she has a really good eye for card making! she also draws much better than me already!

Daff, take it easy if you achy, esp if you have RA, you don't want to do any further damage......!

its been lovely here so far, and now its clouded over and started raining, just as I was thinking about putting the washing on the line! ych!

mwah..to you all,

Afternoon, Maz and Mamiddau and hope the sun has come out again:-) And to Ann, hope you are having a lovely anniversary with a glass or two, of course! Now Daff, I am really worried about you.....nothing frivolous on your shopping list?? Tsk and another tsk....put some exotic liquour on your list immediately...or those Greek baklava wotsits or Turkish Delight with pistachios...*drools a bit....

The sun is shining through my window and I am contemplating having words with my upstairs neighbours about the two large, noisy dogs they have. I have put it off for a while but will have to tackle it soon. Daff's little words about having the courage, etc, jogged my memory:-) I really hate confrontations but then again who does?

Mwah to all for now.

Daff, you get those aches sorted before the winter.

I have put up a separate thread with our thanks for the flowers and chocs. But thank you again they are beautiful.

We have had a lovely day. Westonbirt was lovely and green, the sun shone most of the time and there were some very talented woodcarvers there doing chain saw carving, excellent. We then went on to tetbury, had a snack lunch (I had lovely chunky prawn sandwiches, T had a BLT baguette), then we walked around Tetbury, saw the Chipping steps and the wonderful cathedral like Gothic church. Then called in at 2 garden centres on our way home. This evening we are having a take away Indian.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for my sister, she had breast cancer not sure if it is 2 or 3 years ago and had a lumpectomy, because they caught it early she didn't need chemo only radiotherapy. However yesterday she found a small lump above her collar bone - she says it is in a lymph node - She has phoned her breast nurse and is to go for a check next Tuesday. I do hope it is nothing to worry about.

Huia Report 27 Aug 2009 20:47

Good morning ladies (well, evening to you). Today Friday the 28th is daffodil day here in New Zealand when there is a big fund raiser for cancer research. They sell daffodils (tis the season when they bloom here) or we can have an artificial one which lasts forever. I have 2 or 3 of them. I will be thinking of everybody who has or has had or suspects they might have cancer. My father died of the same one that our Daff had, 40 yrs ago, I dont suppose they had the same good treatment then, or perhaps they were too late finding it and he was older anyway (not that I know how old Daff is!). My younger sister died of bowel cancer over 20 yrs ago. A nasty disease, cancer.

Huia.

Evening all... spent some time at my sisters.... did some very very boring shopping.... forgot my note, but only forgot two items, so I am very pleased with myself, lol!!

I had a pork pie for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it... I haven't had one for a couple of years now, lol.... but I do so love them!

Mamiddau, I was getting a bit worried cos I hadn't seen you... I thought you might have been buried on the beach somewhere by O, bless him!! School will soon be open... sanity can return... how is he doing on the po? Is he really clever at it now?

BC... I promise I shall get sommat frivolous tomorrow... I am going out dog walking with my sister.... the one with two large dogs, a boxer.... and a rottie/mastiff cross who happens to be on heat... she has a special pair of knickers to wear, lol... but she is a bit of a scaredy cat as well. and is sopoooo not a happy bunny.... she has a spray that does work to keep the big dogs away, but for some reason, the smaller ones can just about detect it, lol..... I am talking Yorkies and Jack Russels here... she is petrified of them, the wimp!... Did you talk with the owners of those two noisy big dogs??

I had some difficult news from one of my sons today... he will be coming home to stay at the end of the month, as he and his partner are splitting up... but he is devastated, as he has been the main carer of Princess Thugette.... and she will be staying with mummy in Scarborough. There are no jobs for him there... so he is coming home until he finds his feet again... not until the end of September, to give his soon-to-be-ex partner time to re-arrange her shifts, and get extra childcare in for the little one. I did wonder if he would go back when he was down here last week... I guessed something was up, but didn't mention it... he knows he can talk, and does when he is ready. He wasn't ready then.

Oh well... that is what parents are for. I have my thoughts.... but will keep them to myself for a while, lololol......

Strangely enough we have taken to having the occasional mini pork pies lately, didn't eat them for ages and then had one and now sometimes sneak them in with the shopping for lunch!

The Indian meal was excellent, and much too much. Had a glass of sherry and we shared a bottle of Cava, and strangely enough I am stills eeing straight!

Sorry about your son and his partner Daff, always a shame when that happens. Hope little one copes when Daddy moves away. Nothing you an do daff, they have to sort it themselves.

Hi all,

Daff I am sorry about your son and his partner and how he will miss his little one, and she him.... I hope they can sort things out so he can see her lots and you too. Of course you wouldn't turn him away but it will be hard to have him at home all the time I expect when you are used to your own time and space but of course, we want them to feel loved and supported while they work through their problems, don't we?

I am drooling now cos you mentioned pork pies, I love them too but we don't often have them cos K says he mustn't eat pastry now, due to his cholesterol problems. Stupid man, so it's ok to bring back gooey naughty chocolate creamy deserts that have 304 calories each, when they are reduced but not have a mini pork pie? I sneak one in now and then when I see them reduced and he is on the late shift lol, I particularly like the ones with cheese and pickle in too.

Love to everyone, still trying to find a holiday place for us, my head is in a spin looking at cottages etc

Daff so sorry to read about your son, we had the same situation with our daughter going through a nasty divorce, she came back home with her little boy,and she is still with us, but wouldnt wish it any other way, it was hard at the start, but now as the years went by we have a great relationship, grandson is in his own place.now we look after each other, although roles are reversed, we are the kids and she has become the parent or so she likes to think...LOL....... but I do hope things will remain amicable between them for the little ones sake and yours...

Lovely morning here so I must get out in the garden and do some sorting before I come back on here, the Rosemary bush that I always prune (it is a weeping one over a wall) needs a hair cut yet again.
Be back Later. (or BBL as they say!).

Morning everyone.

Thank you. Well, the news isn't a total surprise, there have been quite a few problems over the last 18 months or so... he will be in a place of his own as soon as he can... if he can get into uni or get a reasonable job here, at least there is more choice in this area, even with a recession on!

I am about to do some research for him.... he has asked me to, so I am not interfering, lolol...

R has today off, but he didn't tell me until after I'd done his sandwiches, lol... he can have them at lunchtime, the wretch... I've put them in the fridge! Grrrr!!

The weather here is lovely at the moment... but the forecast is for rain, rain and more rain........ well, no washing on the line for me, is there? lol

Off now to start googling....... see you all later.

Morning Daff and all, and like everyone else I am so sorry to hear about the break. up, it is upsetting for everyone. Sun shining here through a cloudy sky but there is quite a breeze so it looks untrustworthy! lol I am going to try and put order in my flat today, as since the children left I have been feeling a bit fragile and haven't bothered. I keep tripping over one of F's many cars! No, I haven't tackled the dog problem yet...maybe tomorrow:-)

Have a good day everyone.

Go on Daff, you are pleased R has the day off really, it isn't really really going to interfere with your sticking is it?? Well not much anyway Lol!!!!

Keeps looking like rain here so I did my small bit of pruning early and it was like October, really sharp wind. However, it has warmed up a bit even if it is blowing a hooley, been round to get the papers and collect our prescriptions, got about an hour before T gets in from golf. Then this afternoon I have promised to help him tackle the garden. And.... I have noticed that I don't get my soap fix tonight, well I get a foreshortened one as the blessed football is on yet again. I do soooo hate foorball.

Hiya all! Noooo not buried on a beach, had a week (nearly) without them, they've been on their holidays to my mum and dad! SueM probably heard the racket.....lol! I had some really horrible stuff to do this week, which I don't want to share on a public board such as this, but....I had the BEST outcome, and will eventually come back to earth with a bump - am meeting Taff for coffee on monday to bore her stupid with it all!!!! She's been an amazing friend - so if you are looking in Taff , a special MWAH! for you!

Daff, sorry to hear about your son, Scarborough is so far isn't it? my in-laws are in Whitby, and my baby sister's natural grandparents are in Scarborough, we used to try and combine visits, but she doesn't go anymore! I hope they can arrange things so she doesn't miss your son too much, and he her!

O doing REALLY well on potty, hes been reluctant to poo on there, (sorry if that too much info peeps!!!) but over the last couple of days has done so! My mum has had him in big boy pants, so he's mad real progress over the last week, H is ready to go back to school, she's missing her friends, and her miss, and the work!

BC....you're talking my kinda cake.....Greek cakes are the bestest in the world...now I may be biased being half greek, but you cannot beat them!! imho!!!! Be Brave and tackle the dog problem....you know you can!! will be sending you some cyber courage now.....!

Ann, cava is lovely isn't it.....but I always wish I hadn't next day, red wine doesn't make me feel half so rotten, wierdly! glad you had a lovely evening.

Hi Mamaddau, glad you ironed out your problems this week, sat hello to the lovely taff for me, I do miss her on here.

Yes I* do enjoy Cava, although it always seems nicer when we drink it on holiday in the sun. Last night it was a pink one and very good. It doesn't affect me the next day but usually gives me heart burn in bed. doesn't stop me drinking it though!!!
