Daff I hope that foot is ok you might need to rest it
Bc i need a camera for Gizmo although perhaps i might not want to know .
Daff i havnt seen the cat that was nicking toys but i read about one who was pinching washing the owners had to report it to the police .
It is warm here a lovely bright morning

We used to have 2 cats opposite us who used to arrive home frequently with sausages, cooked and uncooked. Don't know itf it was always from the same house or all different!!

Morning all, from a grey, damp and quite chilly South Wales. It is drizzling here, but that lovely drizzle that soaks into the gardens and gives it a nice long drink.... lovely.

I am all packed and ready. Tickets and hotel receipts printed out, and put safely in my bag. I just have to shower and fiddle with my hair and away we go. R, of course, is still fast asleep. I have put in a load of washing while I am waiting, written a list for son - bin day tomorrow, and it is rubbish day, not garden day. I have my wheelie bin washed and dressed for me afterwards these days, and the lads need to be paid. Plus with Littlie coming on Friday, there are jobs which need to be done, and son will have to do them for a change. So as you can see, lots of onerous tasks *rolls eyes*

My foot is a little better today, still swollen but not too sore. Not so sure about the shoes I was going to wear... it might have to be the red *Dorothy* ones, as I have an extra insole in those that I can take out. And they are comfy. They look fine, with the right clothes, but I am not sure that what fits is right with them.... but hey, who will be looking at my feet?

Good morning Daff and All from a glorious day in WBay,gardens were watered by mother nature overnight so looking lovely and fresh!

Hope your tootsie is okay now Daff,i know what a sting's like,as I was bitten on the bum once when coming out of the sea,not nice at all :O(

Morning all another ping pong ball has arrived been trying to look in the back gardens see if there is a table tennis table .the only thing i can think of is that they have been nicked from youth or a sports shop and dumped somewhere lol

Maz your cat really does make me laugh and theres us thinking they lay there all day doing nothing, lol.
Mau, Ed didnot enjoy his hydro, worked him to hard so was in quite a bit of pain ( mind you he is not moaning.........he says no pain , no gain !!!!! )
Right better get a move on , going to stay with mum for a few days and so looking forward to it.

I think Gizmo should be the thread mascot, he will keep us entertained and if we feel the need to play tennis or suchlike, he can supply the balls. But no birds please:)) lol

I have finally given in to the bleddy (but lovely) old carpet that runs down my hall. I am forever adjusting it as it rumples and slides everywhere in spite of all I have tried. So I am going hunting for another one. I shall miss the glow of it (kind of coral) as it has been there about 15 years and very good quality. But I have given it a fair chance, I think...lol...

Hope you had a lovely evening at the theatre Daff, I haven't been to see a show for ages as Les Mis was a sell out here and so I missed out when it was on and nothing else appeals to me at the moment.

I love reading about Gizmo and can picture him getting up to mischief lol.

Mummo best wishes for your visit with your Mum, I was sorry to read the news wasn't good.

Hi Ginnie, what a pity you missed Les Mis, you have to get in early with booking, even more so I think since Subo made I had a dream so popular last year. We will be seeing it for the fourth time in a couple of weeks, can't wait!

~~~~~~~~ waves to everyone.... I am exhausted, but very very happy.... as Ann will tell you, I bought the tickets for hubby for Christmas... but didn't really fancy it myself. I only started to look forward to it because there was a night out on the tiles, and a posh hotel stay, lolol.... but

It was fantastic. I was hooked from the opening song, the power and the passion... wow... I cried so many times, and then laughed my socks off at the comedy elements... which I have never seen, the marchy bit is usually the bit that they show on previews and things like Children in Need and the Royal Variety show....

I came away absolutely drained and exhilarated (sp, lost my spellcheck again) all at the same time.

My back was sore... it was a long time, but it was well worth it, to say the least. We shall be going again. No doubt about that.

Ginnie, it is such a shame you missed it..... but it will be around again, I am sure.

BC, yep, I think 15 years is long enough.... I have sorted my creepy rug out, by the way, with LOTS of the sticky tape. It cost almost as much as the rug, but it hasn't budged for a couple of months. Mind, I haven't tried to lift to clean under it, lolol I just clean around it.

Mummo, have a lovely time with your mum... I know it is a strange thing to say, but enjoy being with her. Oh and wish her a happy birthday, as well xxxxx

Maz, Gizmo makes me howl with laughter, lolol.... he is such a little tonic.. yes, BC is right, he is our *thread cat* Mascot, lol

Swelling has all gone down now, no itching or anything, so it is just a distant memory, lol

I am off to do nothing at all but enjoy the rest of the day with R at home... we might pop to the garden centre in a mo... but then we might not... at least we don't have to water the garden today! Although the toms need a feed.

See, told you so!!!!! LOl!
I said you would enjoy it didn't I? I am sooo looking forward to seeing it again and seeing if this cast are as good as others we have seen. Lots of soggy tissues then? I saw your remark on Izzies thread and 'Bring him home' gets me every time. Did you have good seats and whatw as the hotel like? Did you get to cribbs on the way? Sorry too many questions there.

The seats were brilliant, Ann... Orchestra circle, but about two thirds back... we had a brilliant view of the entire stage, and didn't miss a thing. The seats were placed in such a way that no-one's head blocked your view at all, as well... it was superb, The set changes were so brilliant... and the set itself was superb... and it just sort of folded into the plot. Watch out for the Soliloquy... it was superb and at the end... amazing!

The cast? Well, some of them it would seem are Les Mis *old hands* but there was a good run of new talent as well... Cossette was on the Lloyd Webber search for a Nancy... left at Bootcamp stage... and then was in the last couple of the search for a Eurovision singer... her voice is sweet, and very pure... perfect for the part... Gareth was Marius, so he, too was perfect.... Eponine was Rosalind James, and she had a superb voice... again, perfect for the part.

John Owen-Jones played Jean Valjean. Omgoodness, he brought me to my knees he was superb, what a voice, what an actor. I am in love!

Earl Carpenter was Javert... and he, too, brought me to my knees, his despair at the end! wow...

Well.... all of them, they were just superb.

They had a standing ovation at the end, and my hands are still sore from clapping. I had to stop myself from standing and clapping a couple of times through the show, I really did.

Just at the start of the Soliloquy, some bright spark had left his or her phone on, it sounded like an alarm of some kind, which spoilt it a bit... but even so, once the orchestra got going, and that voice started to let rip.... well, wow and double wow.

So I had a wonderful time.

Sounds good then. We have seen John Owen - Jones and Earl carpenter so that is good, as you say both brilliant singers. Doubly looking forward to it now. And I bet you can't get the music out of your head!!!

Oh dear, sitting here and my dear mum is fast asleep, when l came in this morning l said hello and she said she wanted Linda, when l told her l was there she really just couldn't seem to grasp it then she ask me when l was getting married when l told her me and Ed had been married for 40 years she replied.......oh yes l remember now.
Anyone else been through this, really donot know what to do , l have been told today that she may last a couple of days or might be a couple of weeks.
How do you get through it., l donot want sympathy just some advice, please.
Sorry l have posted this on your thread Daff but my mates are here and l'm not good talking to my family ( except Ed) and my brother is ill at the moment , he has to go to hospital next week for the camera so lets hope they find out whats a matter with him, oh dear he has gone to bed now, thank God Ed is feeling ok, lol. x

So glad you enjoyed Les Mis I knew you would , I have seen it twice and have the cd and the video recorded at the Albert Hall, I listen to the cd often. Always on the lookout for it to come back, it will I know but I am impatient as usual lol. The music stays with you for ages.

Sorry to hear about you Mum,could it be her medication that is making her forgetful, I haven't been in your situation ,my Mom had dementia for many years so it was expected. i am sure someone will come on to help you but I am thinking of you and your Mum . Be kind to yourself

I used an awul lot of *superb* there, lol.... well, it was!!

Mummo, that's what friends are for.

What you describe is very common... memory for day to day things is short, but memories from many years ago as sharp as if it happened yesterday.

Just as an example, imagine waking up tomorrow, with your memory of today and the last 40 years wiped out, even if only temporarily. You might not recognise Eddie as he is now, but if your son looks like him, you might think he was Eddie. If your daughter or your niece looked like a sister, you would think that was who she was. You would not recognise where you are, as it wasn't like this, or even *here* then. So she might be looking for a much younger Linda sometimes, when her memory is playing games with her. So she sees you, and links you to someone who looks like you do now, back then... maybe another relative, long gone, or maybe even her own mother.

There are two schools of thought on how to deal with this. One is to continually remind her of reality, the other is to go along with her memory. If she thinks you are her mum, or her sister, don't put her right.

I believe a mix of the two is kinder, especially when there is not much time here left. It causes too much anxiety.

If she is asking for you, and you are there, then yes, tell her who you are... but maybe your niece looks a bit like you when you were young? So her love for both of you is becoming mingled up into one person. But she still loves you both.

That of course is conjecture... that she is getting you mingled up... but it is based on what I have witnessed myself.

Trust your instincts, and just carry on loving her. Your much loved mum is still there.

Loads of ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) for you.... and I hope that her time, however long she has, is peaceful and painfree.
