MrDaff Report 18 Sep 2009 08:48

Lol Huia.... thank you, did you treat yourself to anything nice when you were in town???

Maz, the time goes so quickly, doesn't it? How is the job going? They are so funny at that age, kittens, aren't they?

I am just having a cuppa.... the boys have let me sleep in a bit late, so I have only just fed them... I expect the girls will emerge soon... Pol will be velcro-ed to son's duvet.... she always adored him, even as a kitten, and follows him around like a little lamb, lol

Better go and tidy the kitchen, I suppose, and then work out where we are going to put the bookcases, when we get them... he has brought home billions of books!

Morning Maz, wont be long till Gizmo is Free! Nice, sunny day here, just finishing breakfast. Glad yesterday is over with, it was the first anniversary of my brother's death and I found it very difficult. It was the liver that started me off! (I eat liver about once a year). I suddenly remembered he had cooked this amazing dish, with Brandy and Cream and he had received the recipe as he was walking a picket line. His friend would walk towards him and hiss...has to be calves liver...and more walking...and next time would say...two minutes only otherwise you are banjaxed....and so the recipe was given, bit by bit, walk by walk.. Wel it made me laugh and cry at the same time. Great memories:-)

Your household will be different for a while Daff with your son coming home to roost, I'm sure it will be lovely:-)

Happy Friday everyone.

Aw BC........ *passes best lace hankie, nicely clean and laundered*

These memories grab us at the most unexpected times, don't they? So bitter sweet. (((((((((((((((((gentle)))))))))))))))))

S'all right.... I still have virtually no sense of smell.... can just about sniff Estee Lauder's Cinnabar... and two of the roses if I concentrate hard enough and after they have been watered on.... but I can't smell nasty niffs.... hadn't realised how much of my cooking was accomplished by smell... yorkshire puddin for instance........ when you can smell it, it is almost ready.

I have had a couple of Kitty-esque disasters, lolol

Glad they got home safely Daff, a long drive for R.

Jac Report 18 Sep 2009 10:21

Morning girlies all!

Grey and rather cold here, so really an ideal time to get in the garden and tidy up!

Just been to feed next doors cats! we have developed a lovely little routine through this week and they now come when called - their owner has left strict "written" instructions that they can stay in throughout the day if they want, but MUST be booted out at night, no matter what excuses they make! Seems odd to me cos I like Jackson in at night time but I have to follow instructions. Poor little babies, it's been quite cold here for the past few nights, and I wonder how they will fare during the Winter.

I guess it's cos there is a newish Baby next door and they dont want the kitties jumping on his cot or something during the night??? I really have no idea, so as a treat for them I have been feeding them 40 grams of food each morning and night, rather than the 30 grams of food specified on said written instructions - lol lol They dont look much fatter, but they are now my friends! )))

Take care everyone.

Bi for now

Morning Ann... it was like that here earlier, but the sun is just beginning to break through, so hopefully it will be another nice day... I prefer nice autumn days to nice summer days.... the latter gets to hot for me!! I love all the shade in my garden cos I don't do sun very well, lol

Now... R is up, and all his joints are protesting.... so no gardening there then......... B is fast asleep, I'll wake him in an hour or so.... he is not lazing in bed all day and prowling the house at night, lol..... he can wash my car for me, I think, and I shall do his favourite dinner (well, other than roast beef or lamb) of pork loin, vegetables and apple rings in cider based sauce... I use apple juice for that, and add a dash of balsamic to round the flavour off.

I am going to pop onto freecycle and see if there are any bookcases going spare... he'll need them, lol!!

Now, one more thing.... I am a little perturbed.... and not sure if I am being a mite too sensitive!!

B has brought home lots of lovely artwork that little princess has done at nursery... she is very gifted, you know, and they are now proudly displayed around the house.

However... most have her name spelt incorrectly on them... the staff do that, and I feel that they should know better...... but those which have the correct spelling have been written in such a way that it is for adults to read.... sort of very grown up, joined up handwriting of the type that is not taught in schools anymore...... I think hubby's lot were the last to be taught that way!! Now, I know she is only three... but a big part of early learning is the recognition of your own name........ My personal opinion is that sommat needs to be said... if it was just the odd thing, then ok.... but not all of them!

Rant over!!

Aw bless them, Jac.... they deserve a little treat.... mine have the cat flap, so come and go as they please... as do all the neighbouring mogs.... and I noticed yesterday that the feral ginger tom is back, so the nights are drawing in... he'll stay quite close all winter, now...... but I do notice that mine have no inclination to spend their nights outside.... and will cross their legs rather than pop out for the necessaries, lol.... once the nights start closing in.

Watch out though... they might love you so much they pack their little bags and move in with you, lolol

~~~~~ to Mamiddau...... it was a long day... and we all have a fair bit of adjusting to do...
B tends to be a bit of a night owl, and that never used to bother me as I slept like a log, but I don't any more, and it takes me ages to get back off to sleep. I have now got myself into a sort of pattern.... he is going to have to conform to that, as I am going to be totally selfish and insist. Apart from that, he is easy company, and I enjoy having him around.
He'll be home for about a year..... today he is sending off all his application forms for York Uni next year, registering with our GP (he had a very serious car accident a couple of years back, fractured his spine and massive internal injuries, including ruptured spleen, so his immune system isn't wonderful).... and contacting DVLR re his lost driving licence. He will be closely supervised by yours truly, otherwise he won't do it, not deliberately... he just gets side tracked (wonder who he takes after? lol)... he does need a kick up the bum, sometimes, lol!
Well... off to have a shower, and then strut some domestic goddess stuff... oh, and freecycle... remind me to be strict with myself, please!!
hi Daff....they certainly should be spelling her name correctly (I get really miffed when people put an extra letter in H's name, and just get O's wrong) but H is learning cursive writing in school.....proper cursive with lots of tails and loopy bits.....! very "old fashioned" handwriting ....or proper depending on your opinion! am off to get H now.....c u all later ! xxxxx
AnninGlos Report 18 Sep 2009 16:47
Hi again, it is a lot brighter this afternoon but the sun is only just beginning to show its face. Not cold though and dry. We called in at Morrisons first thing for a paper and a cup of coffee, glad we were not shopping s the place was heaving. Supermarkets are in very short supply inthis area. We then set off towards Charmouth but a couple of miles down the windy road the traffic came to a standstill, and didn't move, it was single carriageway but with a central barrier and there was a side road exit just in front of us so we changed our minds about Charmough and turned round and headed into West Bay, by then the jam was a few miles long so we guess it was an 'incident'. In \west Bay we went into a fish and chip cafe, attached to a fish and chip shop, and had the most enormous piece of haddock and a plate full of chips, bread and butter and a cup of tea. It was absolutely lovely -, and I couldn't eat it all!!! We then wal;ked out round the harbour and sat looking at the sea for a while, back to the car via a fishmonger where we bought a pot of white crab meat and a pot of crayfish tails for tonight in rolls. Back to Burton beach to sit in the car in the NT car park overlooking the bay and read the paper. Not a very energetic last day but a pleasant one. And now I must pack which is sad, this week has flown by.
I am sure that S will be fine at recognising her name Daff, don't worry.
I can't believe that you get side tracked!!!!!! Have you got him sorted?
Ann xx
MrDaff Report 18 Sep 2009 18:27
~~~~~~~~~ to Mamiddau, Maz and Ann....

Yep, almost got him sorted.... had a busy but strange sort of day..... nothing really completed, but lots of essential stuff started, like getting the forms from the GP, and getting my car insurance altered in case he needs to use it for interviews and suchlike... then there was filling in all the forms... R is in charge of that, lol... for his driving licence... and photocopying his degree.... I am sure we have done more than that, but can't for the life of me think what!!

Sounds like you have had a lovely relaxing last day, Ann, and an idyllic week.

Right... must go and feed the mob... I had mine earlier, but they wanted to leave it another hour or so.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 19 Sep 2009 05:13

Just a quick response as I need some sleep.

First off, Daff, don't forget the wonderful Gumtree, there is a Freebie section, a Household furniture one and a General one, any of which could have the perfect bookcases for nothing or next to nothing or a bit more depending on quality and how soon the person wants rid of them.

Also before you start gardening scrape your nails along a bar of soap and then when you scrub your hands later the soap dissolves and brings out the muck and soil with it.

I read a while back that if you come or brush your hair into shape the minute you get up, while it is still warm from sleep, it will go into shape better. i am sure your new haircut looks great tho, once you get used to it and how to deal with any errant spikes quickly.

I am going to have a good holiday I am sure, just all the last minute stuff o.h. is fussing about, if he just left me to it I would be happier but he will keep saying, what's this here for and what about that till I am demented. Two whole days of him plus some before we go, I will be fit to fly way before we reach the plane lol

Catch you all later I hope before I go, and take care everyone, I will so miss seeing what everyone is up to.
