I know I know.... I have got him a camera...... he has these very good ones... one he inherited from his dad, but you have to do all the calculations and stuff on it... I bought him the other years and years ago... but he has borrowed mine a couple of times, and quite likes the digital thing... he is quite artistic, so his photos will be much more pleasing to the eye than mine... he'll move the hose when taking photos of the garden, for instance.... whereas I wouldn't even see it until I was printing it out!!

Not that we shall be in competition, or anything, lolol!! ;¬))

He was supposed to be having this week off, but there is an emergency at work, so he has to go in.... well, he volunteered, they have been so good with me that it would have been churlish not to.... and yes, special meal tomorrow.

I also forgot the cakes for him to take in...... he will be unimpressed with me.... right, am off now... the call centre down the road closes/changes shifts in half hour.... it'll be heaving in there then, so must go before the hordes, lolol

Huia Report 29 Sep 2009 19:08

My sympathies to you Jac.

Ann, I used to take minutes for a group. I read somewhere that minutes need consist of no more than resolutions which are passed. I put in a bit more than that, e.g. somebody saying their area were going to have a cake stall or something like that. The president wasnt impressed by my minutes. He wanted me to put in everything that was said so he took a tape recorder to the next meeting then asked me to type it all up at the weekend.
It was extremely difficult. Some people mumble and I had to keep rewinding to try to decipher what they were saying, usually finished up putting ...... Then others would speak too quickly so I had to keep putting the tape on pause to type a phrase. I had a very old typewriter which would not have taken the speed that I can do on my computer. When I released the pause button the tape would miss a few words, so had to rewind a bit. No wonder my tape recorder gave up the ghost. Lots of people used um and ah a lot of the time and another used 'you know' after every phrase. The president said I could leave out those bits (very generous of him). There was only one person who was easy to type up. She spoke at a reasonable speed and very clearly.
On the Sunday afternoon the pres. phoned to ask if I was finished. After spending most of 2 days I was only up to page 11 and was a very long way from finished but he came and collected the tape and what I had typed. That was the last I heard of it.

Huia, our minutes are usually only about 3 A4 sides. Everyone normally seems happy with what I put in and leave out - they don't want waffle. I too tried the tape recorder method, as you may remember I am hard of hearing but that is accepted on our Trustees committee because we are a group that works for disabled people and we are supposed to have disabled people on the board. This can make it difficult though as two of the members are a bit difficult to understand when they speak. However, I have been doing the minutes for 6 years now and have them organised. I let them rabbit on then I say, 'right give me a paragraph for the minutes' which they happily do, so they precis it themselves.

Daff, hope the pressie goes down well, and did you get the cakes in the end?

Evening both.... yes, all sorted... they had his Bushmills in as well, so bought him a bottle of that... he doesn't want a meal tomorrow, as he may be home late... so we will do all the birthday boy stuff at the weekend instead.

I am now off to sit with him for half hour... he is just in, but not hungry yet, but he will just help himself when he is... I shall be ready for bed in about an hour.... very tired today, lol... not bad, but a bit of a nuisance, so tomorrow I shall take it really really easy!

Morning all...well, this year, I actually managed to give R a card on the day, and all written in as well, lol.... I am excellent at putting things in safe places, lol..... never to be found again!!

Where he works, they are having a *Macmillan Birthday Party* for him... charging £1 for a slice of cake, for instance... and everyone is taking in something to be sold off....they have been so good!

Thank you for the parcel, BC, lolol... *shakes and squeezes it* wonder what it is? lolol I'll give it to him when he gets home.... I'll try not to bruise it, lolol! It does look very beautiful... shame to open it really!!

Maz, good luck... I hated the referencing, that always took me the longest!

Well.... lets go and have a wander around the boards.... I am not going to do much today at all, BC...but I slept well last night, so don't feel as tired today... I am going to glue myself to my scrapbook, lol

Morning all..... well, he was very pleased with his prezzie...... and with his birthday wishes from people on here, lovely that was!!

I have the sneezes today.... I think it might be all that glitter yesterday.... it got everywhere, lol... but I shall stay in until it either wears off, or turns into a cold or something......

The weather is very nice here... a few little clouds but lots of blue sky... washing is on the line, and another load is muttering merrily away in the background..... The roses are blooming beautifully still.... they need a bit of a tidy up, so I shall do that later.

Right.... off to find some mischief to get into!! lolol Have a lovely day, everyone ~~~~~~~

Morning Daff, Just sorted out all the bird feeders and filled them. Now got washing in the machine which will be 'cooked' in about an hour. OH doing some autumn tidy gardening (i.e. yanking out flowers that are still flowering but scruffy to make way for pansies and grasses. I have the dentist *groan* at 12.30 so, as it will be another numbing one will have to eat at 11.30ish. So I am just going to make a few cards and potter.
Hope everyone has a good day, no more glitter today Daff!!!!
