Am very proud of her today...THey have a little competition in H's class, new this term, they have a dragon, and the child who uses welsh the most in the class, but around the school too, gets to bring the dragon home for the weekend.....guess what H came home with?! Dilwyn y ddraig is sat on top of the stereo (mainly so O can't get to him a pull a leg off!) in pride of place today!

Daff, you BAD daughter..... pmsl...forgetting you Dads birthday...i'd never do that......(I do it EVERY year...realise 2 days later every year without fail!!!)

Jude - MWAH to you and V

Ann - ~~~~~~~~~

Star - my sister had a brace fitted 2 years ago....it was torture (for us....!) for a few weeks, but she soon got used to it, and then a year later had a bottom one fitted too. She's now had them removed, and only has a retainer for a few hours a day. hope your son is ok.

xxx to all, especially those I missed! xxxxxx

Hello everyone, home from the Malvern Show. Got there at 0915 and left at 3.15pm, daughter and S i L still not home, they have more stamina than us and always stay longer. The weather was great and it was packed, they must have made a packet at £15.50 each for entry, plus what they take in stall rental.
There were loads of stalls to see, we started with the food hall and bought a Welsh oggie (a huge one to share between the two of us) and a Steak and kidney pie for this evening (sort of a tradition to buy a pie when we go to the shows). We also bought a bottle of cider to wash down the oggie. Then we went and had 'breakfast, a sausage and egg bap in my case, bacon and egg for OH, similar for daughter and S iL.

Then we split up and I found a rather good craft stall in one marquee and bought a few bits. We also bought some grasses, pansies and miniature daff bulbs, a bird feeder, I think that was all, waiting to hear what daughter bought.
We went back to the car for lunch and after a rest attcked the show again, this time T and I went round the show tent and looked at all the wonderful (huge) Dahlias and veg, I looked at the WI flower displays, some I liked some I wasn't keen on, took a few photos. Then we stopped for coffee and watched the heavy horses showing how they used to pull the plough. another demonstration was from dogs, I think mainly spaniels and retrievers fetching a 'dummy'. One little black one was so sweet, her mistress threw the dummy (blue), at the same time another one (red) was thrown for another dog, they were in a circle, this little one, when given the instruction to fetch, shot off and brought back the red one which was round the circle to the right, she brought this back, looked at her mistress, wagged her tail and immediately shot off and fetched the blue one.

We looked round a few more stalls and by then were feeling tired and footsore, especially T who has had a poorly foot, so we came home. It was a great day, thoroughly enjoyable, not cheap but I think we got value for money.

Sorry, wrote an essay there.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To everyone.
Sounds a good day Ann:
Snake and pigmy pie sounds lush, washed down with zum Zider!
Enjoy!
this blooming keyboard is behaving like it's had a drop of the red stuff!!!! mind of it's own and not keeping up with my typing speed! anyone any ideas what's the matter with it? ))))
edit: that should say Gardening Club - sheesh, I told you it had a mind of it's own tonight!
Sounds like a brilliant day, Ann.... and hasn't the weather done you proud?
I could murder steak and kidney, right now!! lol
Jac... I am a technophobe..... keyboards are techno....... can't help you, 'cept to say, slow down, lolol!!
I have spent all day adding just 6 people to my tree... stoopid thing is, I knew all their birtdays, roughly when they were born... but couldn't find the records to add to my tree. *sigh* I couldn't work out how to do a quarter by quarter trawl... I would have found that much easier... I punched in one date, and it gave me details of folk who had died before he was born!! Grrrrr
Jac, you will now need to aim for the Spring show which is the end of May, They are really good days out. Daff, yes the weather was really kind to us and the steak and kidney pie was lovely with oven chips and beans. can't see straight now because I have been drinking to everyone tonight. White wine, red wine and toffee flavoured vodka. Hmm, should be a good day tomorrow.
*nods wisely to Ann* It'll be the toffee flavouring that'll cause the damage, mark my words, lolol
Wmsl at Gizmo... poor little mite, most of mine have fallen in the bath at some stage..... we don't have a bath now, just a shower... but both Jethro and Hermie have got soaked in the rene at the back of us.... Jethro fishes for eels there!
I have to do some swearing today.... my vacuum is sat looking all pathetic at me dragging it out of semi-retirement, lol... my sister is coming for lunch... bit of a landmark, with this sister... the others are well used to popping in and finding me and my house in a state of disarray, lolol I have to do it.... a little dead bird... a blue and yellow one (one of the tit family but haven't a clue which)... was neatly placed in front of my spot on the sofa..... sister has a *thing* about feathers, or at least she did as a child and up until 5 years ago, so I don't expect she will have changed much.
The weather here is beautiful, again.... I have to water the pots again!
Ann, my rose is flowering magnificently!! Loads of blooms... I gave it a half strength feed last week, as it was still pushing out flowers, and it has just burst out... it is stunning! I have it on the little area where we sat... I can see it from the kitchen window, and from the hall window.
Gosh Daff, that Rose has done well hasn't it?
Felt fine this morning so the vodka toffee thingy must be a pick me up tonic. feel a bit tired now they have gone though, went to The Quays for a look round this morning.
Little yellow and blue bird is a blue tit, poor little thing *sobs!
Hope you enjoyed lunch with your sister. It was lovely here first thing but clouded over and is quite dull this afternoon.
Hiya Ann.... sis didn't come over, after all...... but says she might tomorrow. She has a bald tyre and her brake pads are worn, and has to have them done in the morning.
Poor little bird....... but there are magpie feathers outside, as well... and some cat fur... we did hear a spot of bother about 6.... I wonder if the magpies had got the bird first? Mine usually bring them in alive....... I am supposed to catch them and then let them free outside... in fact, only once before has a bird been brought in, it is usually mice, voles, eels, dragonflies and a bat!!
I know this is dotty.... but I like to think my puddy tat saved the little bird from the nasty big bird, lol.... I know, I know..... unlikely, lolol!
Lol Daff!!!! Visualises magpie carrying blue tit into house??? Or.... magpie holding blue tit with cat on magpies back, lifts up magpie which drops blue tit, which dies of shock!!! Or (more likely), cat grabs blue tit which dies of shock!! That's life in the animal world, whatever we like to think, cats like chasing birds and nothing will deter them.
Huia Report 27 Sep 2009 19:54
I tell myself that 'the bird must have been sick to have got within reach of the cat.'
I have had a couple of Welcome Swallows (Aussie overstayers) flying around our front verandah over the past week. I am wondering if they are thinking of nesting under the eaves. They even flew right up to the window when the cat was sitting on the back of the window sofa. I got some good photos of them sitting on the verandah rail, using the zoom function on my digital camera. I love that camera.
Good morning Daff,Maz and all:-) Rather grey looking skies here but quite warm. Is it too early to start putting food out for the birds. I saw a Robin hovering yesterday but I know as soon as I start, ten dozen pigeons and their pals will hear about it on the pigeon grapevine and ascend on my little patio...lol...My hairdresser and I are doing a barter this evening, he gets a bed for the night and I get a lovely haircut.
Happy Monday everyone:-) BC XX
Good morning everyone, a grey start here, hope it will clear later on.
MrDaff Report 28 Sep 2009 09:38
Morning all!!
Maz, that is late, for you, lol
BC, I don't often put food down for the birds in my garden, but one of my neighbours does all year round.... they do put more fat balls down from about October, though. They were kind enough to supply me with fresh veg from their allottment this summer, so I have been popping food for the birds across as a *thank you*... they love the birds, and I can see them from my window, so I get pleasure, too. I don't put food down cos I feel it is inviting them to their death, with the two boys being quite prolific with the hunting skills... and Rosy isn't too bad, either! Poor Pol can barely get up on the sofa most of the time!
What are you up to today, Ann? Going anywhere nice!!
I had two glasses of red yesterday... half of the second is still there, but I was still the worse for wear... *sigh* ...... think I shall have to give it up as a bad job, lolol
Not sure what I want to do today... I have a very lazy head on. I think I shall just swan around.
I have been *tidying* up my tree... but have found that looking through lists of info very soon makes me feel a bit nauseous, like travel sickness... It was something I suffered very badly from after my last chemo... I was very disorientated, and my balance wasn't good... I also had severe tremors.. it has virtually all resolved now, but this must be the final little bit, along with my sense of smell...oh well, I'll just have to do it in little bits... I find that frustrating... I am an all or nothing girl, me, lol.... a bit obsessive, really.
Well... lets go and have another cuppa and make a list ;¬))
Have a lovely day, everyone
Love
Daff, when did you last have your eyes checked? Is it possible that the treatment has affected your eyes so that your glasses are not correct?
Not doing anything much today, washing, tidying up, walk round for the papers and starting the monthly household accounts balance.
