Your poor OH, AnnG, it’s horrid to be in pain like that and difficult for you as well. Have you got a pear or two, or some rhubarb? They can both help with constipation. Make sure he has plenty of water too.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Sep 2020 18:15

In fact any tinned fruit would do.

We have just had a very short heavy shower of rain just as I ws going to corn the chickens.

I hav'nt done anything today except get the lunch. Oh is doing a chinese for dinner so a good day off for me.

Annx Report 23 Sep 2020 18:54

Woody is a beauty Mel. I've said it before but you are so lucky with all the wild life you can see.

The poor chap AnnG. Of course not being able to exercise won't help constipation either. Apricots have lots of fibre so would be good as well. I buy the ready to eat prunes and usually have a couple each morning, much nicer than tinned ones which I don't like. I have them for the antioxidants mostly as I make sure I have plenty of veg, but they must help in that department as well.

I have been trying to fathom where to find and how to use some more of my camera settings and have had some success, but so much is hidden away in expanding menus 5 minutes later you forget where you looked! The handbook could be half the size if it wasn't for all the languages and there's a CD as well, but it's in the top cupboard and I'm not climbing up there today.

OH has been complaining about a stiff neck all day, but has a virtual meeting now which won't help it.

We have had a few sharp showers today, quite heavy at lunchtime and the birds in the trees in the field were doing lots of preening after. Four Collared Doves joined the Jackdaws and Magpies, but most of the Pigeons have disappeared. It may be the Buzzard taking them. We'll soon tell when it gets frosty as there can be a couple of dozen of them in the trees then. OH saw a squirrel on the side fence through the window. It was heading in the general direction of where we think the Walnut tree must be. :-)

Still feeling a little under the weather but not as bad as the last few days, hopefully I'll be fully recovered from this bug soon. I've heard a few people have it, so it must be doing the rounds. I was worried it might of been Covid but now realise it isn't. I went out the other week and wish I hadn't bothered as I've obviously caught the bug then. Sorry I haven't read the posts yet, hope everyone is okay.

SuffolkVera Report 23 Sep 2020 20:20

Good to see you posting Gill. I hope you feel fully recovered soon.

Mel, I forgot to say earlier that you got a lovely pic of Woody. He’s a handsome fella. You do get some nice wildlife round your way. We’ve lived at this house for just on 7 years now (moved in on 28th September). I thought I would miss my lovely house and big garden but all I really missed was my veg. garden and the wildlife. We used to get the spotted and the green woodpeckers. One green one got quite bold and would come right to the edge of the grass by the back door looking for ants. But don’t they make a racket when they fly off? Their wings sort of clatter and they have that raucous screech that goes right through you.

Ann, I have several prunes every morning but I quite like the tinned ones, provided they are in juice and not syrup. I had some bowel problems a few years ago and am on a surveillance programme from the hospital so have to be a bit careful and the prunes help.

It’s a shame that your OH doesn’t seem to get on with co-codamol as I find them the best painkillers by far. Ibuprofen do nothing for me and paracetamol on it’s own has a limited effect. But we’re all different - it’s horses for courses.

Frank, don’t complain at £20 for a doctor’s note. I had to pay £41 last year to get the surgery to complete an insurance form, most of which I had filled in for them.

I had an appalling night last night and have been a bit like a wet weekend today, so I might be having a fairly early night. I hope all of us get a good sleep tonight.

Morning Mel and all

Blue skies and sun at the moment. I had a better night last night tho I still feel tired. OH is going to town shortly to pick up my meds, otherwise there are no plans for today. I’m a bit frustrated because I have so many jobs to do in the house and garden but I can still only hobble about a bit and nothing’s getting done.

I hope you all have a good day

Good morning pouring with rain here with occasional 30 second flashes of sunshine. OH has the Osteopath at 12.00

His back is still very bad but so far today his headache is not too bad. Yesterday as I think I said, he decided to stop the cocodomol, they were just making him dozy and wanting to sleep so he took a nurofen. unfortunately we then realised after I got in from the optician that he didn't have more nurofen so he switched to paracetamol. He took a couple of those last night and two this morning. He apparently slept well. I am pretty sure they won't help his back. Have to go out later and get nurofen.

Doctor rang him this morning for a chat, a different doctor but clued up by our own doctor. apparently our doctor after chatting to the neurologist, has requested a cat scan for his head so we have to wait for that to come trough, another trip to hospital. Not forgetting the op on my face next Thursday. So fed up with medical matters. But we can't fault all the attention, doctors and hospital. doctor has also sent a prescription to our chemist for the nasal spray that was wrong on the hospital prescription.

Vera it is so frustrating for you not being able to do jobs but hopefully resting the foot will help it heal.

You will be pleased to know that veg soup, chunky skin on chips like wedges and a tomato and apple sauce with dinner worked as well as prunes last night so that is one problem out of the way. :-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 24 Sep 2020 12:10

Well he drove me to Tesco and stayed in the car so I could get round more quickly so I got his nurofen and a few other bits. He then had a coffee and a currant bun when we came back and did the lounge floor. Head still seems ok and he found driving ok so he has driven to the Osteopath himself which is in the village.

Good morning to you all,

Oh what a HAIL STORM we are having. I thought the roof of the conservatory was coming in. Poor old Tony has put his washing out.

I forgot to mention yesterday, on Tuesday eveningI went to be at 10. 30 pm was still awake at 3.00 am. Got up, made a drink, when Ros came out. I finished my drink and went back to bed. I was still awake at 5.00 am but dropped off until 9.00. am I never rested my eyes during Wednesday. Last night I managed to stay awake until 11.00 pm and slept until 7.30 this morning. By 8.30 I felt so tired that I want back to bed until 11.00 am. Ros has made me eat cerial and toast and marmalade and other COT.

Sitting here now waiting to get a shower. I don't think Ros will be long now.

We have the funeral arrangements for MAGGIE The woman who passed away last week in her car. She was in so many village activities, that in appears they are lining the route around the village to the church. I expect half the village will turn out, so lets hope the weather is kind to us.

Another death reported to us yesterday, by Tony. the guy who lived opposite us, has been very poorly for ages. His partner Maureen had a PROPER Hospital bed installed in the lounge and cleared all the sideboards out to fit it in. It appears h
e passed away on Saturday, but we were only informed yesterday. His funeral is the 9th October. Maureen his partner has invited us, so as we can take Pat and John her neibours, as he has given up his driving licence.

I have had three more ANXIETY ATTACKS since yesterday. Boy oh Boy do they take it out of me. I feel as weak as a kitten after them.

Right bathroom empty, so I am off. Trust you are all feeling o.k. xxxx

OH got on quite well as far as I can make out. He said the Osteopath was an older man and very pleasant. He was gentle not manipulating and with a model explained what he thought was the problem. explained that the problem is where the pelvis meets (I think that is what he meant, at the top of the legs) and he told OH it felt as if it is locked but it actually trying to free itself. He also felt the top of his spine around his neck and back of his head and said that also felt very tight. He wants him to make an appointment for Monday week, would like to do it sooner but fully booked. Sods law they have just phoned and offered an appointment on the 1st October but that is the day of my hospital appointment. Ah he managed to get an appointment for 0930.

OH has been fine from 1.15 when he got back until 2.30 and has been pottering around, ate soup (home made) and bread and butter and made a cup of tea. However the headache has just come back so he has gone to lie down. Osteopath said he would probably be sore from the treatment. I thought £70 was quite good for an hou's treatment.

tHAT HAIL WILL RIN THE FLOWERS IN THE GARDEN. wHEN WE GET THEM THEY MAKE BIG HOLES AND MARKS ON THE HYDRANGA LEAVES AND SPOIL AL THE FLOWERS. Sorry did'nt mean to shout!! I had been labeling files.

Suns out here at the moment but we have had showers on and off all morning with sun inbetween.

A fox was in the garden this morning and exited through the hedge on the east side of the orchard.

Frank did you tell us about Maggie?? I don't think I knew. I hope they keep to the social distancing in the line. Sounds like you may have caught up on somemuch needed sleep.

Anng if oh gets on better with the nurofen then he is best to stick with those if they make him comfortable. Hope he gets on well with the Osteopath. He must have felt he would be able to drive himself so thats a good thing.

Thinking of our Jane and hope she is having a better day today. <3 <3 <3

Morning all .

What a wet old day we're in for ,the wind is quite strong and could get up to 50 mile an hour today .
We've been busy in the garden as we had some nice days ,sorted out all the pots in the green house so that's all clear ,I've put some of my hanging baskets in there now ready to take the dead plants out ,Colin has been painting the front fence to tidy that up and we now have a few tubs to go to the tip.

AnnG it sounds as if your OH got on ok with the osteopath let's hope he can help the bad heads so the poor man can get some relief .

Mel that was a lovely photo of Woody, don't they have some lovely coloured feathers .

Frank it will be nice for you if you can use the mobility scooter it will give you a break from your four walls and you'll be able to chat to a few people even if it is from a distance.

Son is enjoying his work he said there's so much to read up on and lots of extra things to do with covid ,he is in one of the bubbles and can't go into the other classes while the children are in class so if anything needs doing it has to wait until the children have gone .

Love to Jane as always <3

Better get my coffee drunk before it gets cold .

Right must ring for the scripts.

Good Morning all,

No rain here (YET) but plenty of wind. Trees are all bent over.

We have been informed that we can follow Maggies funeral on ZOOM whatever that is.

Send some of your sunshine up here PLEASE Mel. We had a lot of rain yesterday, and could do with drying out a bit.

Simon and Sally rang this morning, after me leaving them a message. They are free on Sunday, so I have suggested metting here, and going for LUNCH together. I have been left to book the table, which I will do soon.

Nice to get your tablets delivered Mandy. Our Doctors dispense their own, so Ros pickes them up from there. Only a few minutes away.

I have heard back from the RAFA regarding the scooter. They will allocate a staff member to help process the application, and I will hear from them soon. I expect they will want to know about my income and expenditure and what savings we have.

I haven't eaten yet today, so will get an early lunch, as I am feeing peckish.

See you all soon, take care and stay safe. xxxx

SuffolkVera Report 25 Sep 2020 11:45

Morning Mandy, Mel and all

Cold, wet and very windy here this morning. Autumn has certainly let us know it’s arrived.

It’s good that OH got on well with the osteopath AnnG. It sounds as though he may be able to help. I didn’t say anything before T went but my OH had a terrible experience with an osteopath many years ago and won’t go near one now. This was a woman recommended by our then doctor. In manipulating one side of his back she managed to put the other side out and he has had problems ever since. It sounds as though your osteopath is a good deal better.

I’m pleased your son is enjoying the job Mandy. It must seem very different to the last time he was working there with all the changes because of Covid. I was talking to my daughter yesterday evening and asked her if her students were much behind with the work. She said that wasn’t much of a problem but quite a few of them have some sort of mental health or anxiety issue. A big intake in her school is from deprived areas and sometimes the school is the most stable thing in their lives. She’s also unhappy that, because of cleaning and sterilising and waiting so many hours before re-use, the lunchtime canteen now only opens twice a week. On the other days the kids take a packed lunch. Quite a number have free school meals and the school is providing them with packed lunches so they don’t go hungry but for many of these youngsters their school dinner is the only proper hot meal they get. What has to be, must be but I think some of our kids have suffered more during the past few months than we have realised.

I’m being a bit gloomy this morning aren’t I? Put it down to the weather. It’s starting to blow a real hooley out there now. On the good news front, my foot is improving all the time. It still has a way to go but I am using the chariot less and this morning I managed to drag myself upstairs for the first time in 6 days. I had a load of towels to bring down but couldn’t carry them and hang on to the stair rail so I threw them over the banisters into the hall.

Going to ring my brother now as I haven’t spoken to him since he was here a week ago. Doesn’t the time fly by when you get older. Sending a hug to anyone on the thread who is unwell or feeling down.

Enjoy your day everyone, whatever your weather is like.

EDIT. Missed you when I was typing Frank so I am waving hallo ~~~~~~~~
