Gillx Report 13 Feb 2021 16:31

Just rang mum it was her vaccination she was going for today, so I've not completely lost it lol. She said everything went well and she didn't even feel it. I did mention that she might have a sore arm tomorrow and she said she was told she might have a bruise with being on blood thinners, she'd only just got in and hadn't even took her coat off when I called, so I didn't stay on the phone long as she was cold and wanted a hot drink.

Annx Report 13 Feb 2021 16:31

Afternoon All,

Still cold but not much snow left here. I'm glad you mentioned that about the date on the computer Mel. All these years and I hadn't noticed that! It will be a big help in these times when I often am unsure what day it is, even if I know the date. :-)

Gill, Sandra seems to have hopped between a rock and a hard place if she's back with the couple who were using her to pay for things. Still, as you say, it is better than her sleeping rough. I cannot understand why SS haven't found her somewhere better short term as surely they have some responsibility for her wellbeing now. I wonder if Sandra has thought about the possible impact on her benefit payments when she is gadding about wanting to be so independent and able to do everything for herself? I expect not. She could certainly attract Police attention and a fine with all this going in different houses and mixing too. What a worry you have and little control. Isn't she bothered that he has ended up in custody? I hope your mum will be ok now she is home again.

What a thoughtful gift AnnG! It will make the family feel close and Teddy will need some cuddles from you! I love his smock message! :-)

I have been doing the Asda order for tomorrow's drop. So much is out of stock, including the tasty wiltshire ham and leek bake we like. I have added a few naughty treats this time as it will be Valentine's Day. :-D

OH said his legs were burning this morning after pumping my tyres up yesterday. I keep telling him he needs to move more as he doesn't even do any stretches. I'm giving him a few jobs tomorrow. ;-)

back to my list of admin jobs now!

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 13 Feb 2021 16:32

I'm here now Mel. I've just been having a busy day. I keep doing one small job and then finding it leading to another and another.

We haven't had any more snow but it is still bitter cold here, with an icy wind, and it hasn't thawed anymore today than yesterday. It is supposed to get a little bit warmer tomorrow.

Our conservatory is unheated like AnnG's, Frank. You wouldn't want to be sitting out there reading at the moment; you'd freeze. It can get warm enough to have our lunch out there at this time of year but only if there is lots of sunshine coming through the glass. Your book sounds good.

What a lovely thoughtful gift from your family AnnG. That will be something you can treasure.

Sandra is a worry at the moment isn't she Gill. It doesn't seem ideal for her to go back to that couple but at least she is indoors in the warm and perhaps she will be a bit more careful about handing over her bank card now she knows what they are like. Do you think she will be OK in a flat on her own? It could get very lonely and then she might start inviting all sorts in. Will Social Services keep a close eye on her? If Sandra has developed a cough, should she get a Covid test? I hope your Mum gets on OK. It seems to be one thing after another for you at the moment.

I think I had better post this quickly as our internet seems to be going on and off. It doesn't usually happen but maybe it's something to do with the weather.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Feb 2021 16:57

Glad your mums back home now Gill and she will soon warm up once she gets that hot drink inside her.

Our snow stopped about 1pm When I went to the shop there was no snow in Shebbear. There was more on my car than on the roads there.

I now have a nice pile of cards and presents to open tomorrow and this morning as I went out a van driver came in and when I got back another box of 150 fat balls for the birds had arrived. Oh said he'd buy me another box. I am down to the bottom layer in the first box. The birds get through at least two a day if not three. I like presents like that something I can feed my little feathered friends.

Yes I was wondering about Sandra's benefit payments. You used to have to have an address to get your benefit but I suppose its all done through the bank now. I really think she needs a good talking to even if its by the police.

Annx Report 13 Feb 2021 20:51

Did you manage to start on the garage today AnnG? We haven't started again on ours while it is so cold. Yours should be a bit easier hopefully as you had space for a car and we can only fit OH's Corgi cars in ours that came with everything else from MIL's.

That's good your mum has had her vaccination now Gill. She must remember it isn't fully effective for 3 weeks though. It sounds like she will be ok now as it was her meds causing the problem for her. One less worry for you! Sandra's not going to get much sleep again if she's sleeping on the floor is she. I expect she is banking on getting the flat she is seeing on Monday. Will she know what to check and know whether the rent is too much for it though, or will she just grab it anyway.

i had my thyroid test result letter today and there is no change so no tablet dosage change.

Are most of your pile of cards Valentines Mel. lol ;-) ;-) It must be nice in some ways to have a day with a double celebration. Speaking of which I must write mine next.

AnninGlos Report 13 Feb 2021 21:21

No Ann it was much too cold to go out to the garage so daughter was playing with new paints she had bought, I was answering e mails and writing emails, reading the paper, finishing my shopping order and generally doing nothing. Oh I started a hat for me as I finished Inara’s last week.

Annx

Annx Report 13 Feb 2021 21:50

Did Inara like her hat? What colour wool will you use for yours or will it be the same wool? Full of questions aren't I. I remember now that you said your daughter paints. Watercolour is a quite portable hobby without too much paraphernalia which is good. I have just about finished last Wednesday's painting so will send a pic tomorrow when the light is better for taking a photo. . It sounds like you have had a quite relaxing day which is good.

It's amazing what difference a few miles can make with the weather Mel. Is it higher ground at Shebbear? The city here is in a valley, but the outskirts always get more snow as well as fog. We still have a bit of snow left, the same as yesterday so it hasn't been warm enough to melt any more.

I'm off to bed now. I want to be up earlier tomorrow to get lunch early ready for the wipe down in the afternoon. :-S

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 Feb 2021 08:51

I didn't give her the hat Friday Ann as I will take it up it was a bit too confusing with all sorts of stuff being transferred between cars as it was. My had is a bluey grey and white mix wool, I am not sure if there is enough wool for a second one in the pink mix.

Just realised my Tesco shop is due 10-11 today, an hour earlier so had better get moving.

Good morning anyway, a cold looking grey day out there but already 3 degrees,

:-D :-D :-D HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEL :-D :-D :-D
I hope you have a lovely day and get thoroughly spoilt.

The temperature here has reached the dizzy heights of 0 degrees. This afternoon it’s supposed to get to 1. I can hardly wait. The snow has mostly gone from the paths though they are quite icy, but it’s still laying on the garden and on benches and the table.

I’ve just showered and washed my hair and, boy, do I need a haircut. Do you think the dragged through the hedge look will ever come into fashion? I can cope with the sides and back getting longer but it’s the top. I look atrocious with a fringe because I have a really low forehead and my hair is usually short and combed back. Now it’s between short and long and just a mess. OH offered to use his clippers on it. Er...I don’t think so ;-)

I’ve no plans for today, it’s just another dreary day with nowhere to go and no-one to see. I’d better buck my ideas up and find something to do. Just heard the kettle go on so I hope OH is making tea. Enjoy whatever you are doing today.

Sorry Mel I forgot to say happy birthday, hope you are having a lovely day <3 <3

Vera it is definitely warmer here today but not warm. Shopping was on time and smaller than usual so all wiped and put away.

Hope you are enjoying your cards and pressies! :-)

Back to dull and dreary here, but some nice Valentine cards from OH and one that made me chuckle, so that was a good start to the day.

Better dish up lunch next. I tried a packet of supposedly delicious roast chicken gravy and ended up pouring it down the sink it was so full of thyme and sage, overpowering. I then did my own mix but Asda had sent their own stock sachets as a sub. OMG all that salt,,,,,,half down the drain too while I found some of the old ones left to mix with the Bisto,......Ahhhh! "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" AuntieMel. xxx

Nothing special weather wise here either, looks like we could get snow/sleet or rain sometime today. We aren't gong anywhere, so it won't bother us.

Ros has just bought me a coffee, wth some CHOCH Bickies. I will eat those while I am on here.

Last night I went to come down into the dinning room end of the room for something. I can'r even remember what it was.I tripped and went down backwards, It knocked the wind out of my body and really hurt the bottom of my back. Ros was unable to get me up, so had to call Tony to my rescue. (good old TONY) Between the pair of them, they got me to my feet and steered me through to the bedroom. Ros had turned the bed down earlier, so I was able to get into bed, I don't think I moved all night, until I got out for the loo at 7.00 am. I went back to bed and slept until 9.30 am, which is late for me. I am now nursing a very sore back.

Roast leg of Lamb for dinner today. Ros. has prepared all the veg, while I sat in the conservatory on a hard back chair, reading my book.

No running around the block for me today, lol lol I am going to try to sit in an armchair and read the paper. Not that there is anything of interest in it,

Have a pleasant afternoon all. xxxx

Sorry you're all so cold as its a balmy 8.5 degrees here today and rain in the wind.

Thank you all for your lovely cards which are all displayed on the windowsill. Had some great presents, choc ginger and a huge toblerone from oh plus 18 lovely pink and white roses and a hamper from SIL and two small bars of ginger dark choc from other SIL and a lovely bottle of my favorit wine from Em and the boys and a shopping bag with chickens on so I have done really well htis year. I'm told there's more flowers on the way as oh had trouble with Moonpig this year so some flowers are from someone else other the the usual Moonpig.

Its rather nice to have some different coloured roses other than the red ones I usually get. O and oh bought me another 150 fat balls for the birds. Di my friend gave me a lovely little bronze hare to go with my other one on the windowsill so I was really pleased with that. <3

Thank you to Anng for the lovely handmade card too. <3

Snap Island we've got ours going too ,just put two logs on so we're lovely and warm ,step outside and it's a different matter ,still have plenty of snow laying about ,we watched people trying to walk down the path in the churchyard one poor chap went down a wallop ,it's like glass on the path .

Vera I think we will soon all look like we've been dragged through a hedge backwards with no hair cuts on the horizon, Colin said yesterday would I get the clippers out and give him a trim .

Ann hope you managed to make a decent gravy in the end ,I like Bisto.

Oh dear Frank I hope your poor back soon feels better .

Mel sounds as if your enjoying your day and you've had some nice pressies .

We're having Jacket potatoes tonight with Tuna ,we had Toad in the hole yesterday and we had the sausages from the butchers pack ,they were the best sausages we've had for a long time and I'm fussy with sausages there's not many I like .
