The plot thickens Vera. A car registered just before the first lockdown. It sounds like they may not be needing it for work if they are working from home or have another car in the family. It sounds like they have SORN it and just taken it off the road for now and claimed the remaining road tax back as they are not needing to use it. They may have been in hospital for months like AnnG's T was and the family knew the car wouldn't be used.

Mel, remember many employees are working from home now with all the distractions there eg children.so I think mistakes could be more likely to happen just now. BBC Watchdog have picked up mistakes DVLA make in the past. The leaflet I was given says that tiredness can be an after effect so that is probably why you went to sleep.

I was walking out of the bedroom this morning when my calf at the back of my leg went into a minor spasm a bit like cramp and it has ached nearly all day and now I've noticed a bruise the size of the palm of my hand. It has eased a bit since this afternoon and isn't hot so I think it must have just been a cramp! If it isn't one bit hurting it's another!

It's pouring with rain here now.

Island I would say it looks like Sphagnum Moss like you can line hanging baskets with. Lucky you with your Daffodils. Ours have a way to go yet! I hate that invader thing people do. You can feel their breath on your neck sometimes. I tend to step forward leaving my back foot in place so they can't close up. Or I step back a bit so they have to move.

SuffolkVera Report 7 Feb 2021 04:06

Morning Ann, can’t you sleep either? I agree with you. Island’s plant does look like sphagnum moss. Going to read for a bit now.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Feb 2021 08:47

Morning Vera and Ann and all,

I replied to Island on an email about the moss.

How many back feet do you have Ann?

So no need to ask how you all slept last night as I can see two of you did'nt by your up with the lark posts.

Dull and miserable here this morning and its so dark I need the light on.

AnninGlos Report 7 Feb 2021 08:47

Ah yes, now you say it it does. The birds will soon remove that for their nests.

If I had known you two were having a party I would have joined you I was awake but can't really prowl around without waking the others so I stayed in bed. Brain is too active to sleep at the moment.

Anyway good morning all very grey but dry so far and no snow or frost.

Morning àll,

Not a flake of snow so far and no frost either this morning but the wind is so strong cuts through you like a knife .

Lovely lot of daffs you have there Island looks like the ladies have helped you with the plant .

Oh phones ringing BBL

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Feb 2021 10:01

Have I missed Island daffs? I only got the snowdrops.

Is it today Colin's jab?

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 7 Feb 2021 10:23

I don’t seem to have the daffs either Island.

I hope the snow stays away from you Mandy and Colin gets his jab OK. It’s been snowing here, with those small flakes, since early this morning and the garden and roofs are covered but it doesn’t seem to have settled on the paths yet. Unfortunately for us the forecast has been reversed. It was supposed to be heavy snow today and light tomorrow but now the heavy snow is forecast for tomorrow with wind as well. I am just praying that we will be able to get to the funeral tomorrow. There are at least 11 of us with a longish journey on difficult roads so keep your fingers crossed for us please.

Fingers crossed for you for tomorrow Vera hope you can get there and back ok

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Feb 2021 10:49

Yes I second what Mandy said and hope you get there and back ok tomorrow. Snow always seems to come when you don't want it.

Ha Ha there were some bleary eyes in the middle of the night - had me worried for a mo' lol. I had spotted a couple of small clumps of daff leaves which are about 4" up but I'd put my camera away. Thanks Mel for your quick off the drawer answer last night.
I never knew sphagnum moss was leafy so thanks all for that. It's very pretty, I love these low growing plants, they're like tiny gardens :-)

We had a blanket of snow late last night but by early morning there was no sign of it :-0 I thought we were going to be building snowdogs. I think there's more forecast for tomorrow but what do they know LOL

Stay safe and warm all

Tesco shop arrived and all put away seems very strange going back to large chickens.

Luckily we all share the cooking so that is not too much of a shock. I see on the list I only have todays roast to do this week. So that is easy.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Feb 2021 11:59

Cor its really bitter out there this morning. I fed the chickens and my hands were frozen by the time I came in and I want to clean them out today. Just having a warm up before I go out again. Its the wind thats so cold.

Iv'e a few daffs showing colour but the first one that was nearly out seems to have been knocked over or eaten by a hungry slug I shall have to go and investigate. The small ones in the front tubs have buds in them too. I must go round the back of my shed and see what my little ones are like inthe window boxes and bring them up to the patio so I can enjoy them. I used to buy them in pots in Morrisons each year and then put the all in the small window boxes which fit nicely round the edge of the patio.

Birds are feeding like crazy so all feeders have been filled up.

I think the moss is lovely round the top of your pot and I would leave it and not clean it off. Its a fairy garden.

Afternoon All,

I see Vera had a bad night too. I expect she has the snow and her son travelling at the back of her mind. I had this niggling pain in the back of my calf not helping. The muscle was stiff again this morning but has started to ease again since my shower.

It sounds like Colin will get his jab before the snow arrives which would be good. It's not that cold here yet but the wind is picking up.

Good luck with cleaning the girls out in the cold Mel! It might actually warm you up though.Yes It did sound strange me saying a back foot. Sometimes it would be nice to have four feet!! I would have to make sure four shoes matched then wouldn't I.

Lunch is ready so I'd better dish it up!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Feb 2021 12:29

Fingers crossed for Colin's jab, hope the snow stays away for you.

Annx I wonder if the vaccine aggravated that muscle if it was maybe already weak. did you have any other side effects.

Vera I do so hope that the snow doesn't prevent you getting to the funeral, heaven knows these times are bad enough without the worry of the weather. <3 I hope you can get there and that all goes well with the funeral. Covid has taken over every aspect of our lives from birth to death. With mothers and fathers sometimes separated for the birth (it seems to vary as to where you live) and funerals reduced in time and how many people can attend. Rotten disease.

Afternoon all, Yesterday Ros called at a new butchers for a small shoulder of lamb. It ws HUGH. I tried to cut it in half, but without any luck. This morning I thought I would cook it, and slice it. After only one and a half hours it was cooked and had shrunk to under half its size. With a bit of luck I might get enough off of it for two meals. It cost over £10.00 so I'm not impressed, and told her not to go there again. !!!!

I nipped out to the garage freezer earlier, and I am sure I felt snow on my face. I can't see any snow anywhere, so I might have been dreaming. The forecast is for 2 to 4 inches around here, and up to 8 inches up north. We will just have to wait and see.

As you can imagine we have ROAST LAMB for dinner today, I have done Roasts and parsnips, Runners, peas and carrots, and brussels. Not sure what time we will eat.

I have been sitting in the conservatory reading my book this morning. I will now have a look through the paper, not that there will be much news, always loads of DOOM AND GLOOM. lol.

Hope you are ll well, I might get back later today. xxxx
