Afternoon all

Another bright sunny day, I guess the weather forecast was wrong as they said it was going to be cold and wet, not that I'm complaining as I have another line of washing out.

Oh dear Jane, not good about your alarm. I know how you feel though as we had a similar problem with our car alarm not so long ago and they're not quiet are they? At least James will be at home so you don't need to worry when you're away. I hope the nice weather stays around so you can have a go in the hot tub. You're not on your own there though, as I've never been in one either. Have a lovely time away.

Enjoy your walk in the park with your OH Vera, the garden isn't going anywhere and it will be nice to have a change of scenery. I noticed you posted very early this morning, I hope you have a better nights sleep tonight, maybe the fresh air on your walk will help.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions I wish I'd kept hold of the clothes now, some were beyond help so went in the bin which was emptied today and the rest went to the charity shop. Still it's an idea for the next time I have a sort out.

With OH's shift being changed from days to nights last night I've decided to do roast lamb while he's home as neither of us have had a roast dinner in a while. It smells lovely and should be ready soon. I'm getting there with my sorting and don't have to much more to do, then I'll take a look online to see if there's anything I can find to do, or take another look at OH's tree as I was finally getting somewhere with it the other week. The shed needs a good sort out, so if the good weather sticks around I could always have a go at that.

I hope your OH managed to speak to his GP AnnG and got some help, it's not much fun being in pain. I hope he feels better soon.

I woke up about the same time as you Mel, but then I didn't go to sleep until around 3am, I was sorting stuff out until about 2am, with OH working nights I lost track of time, but I did have a good nights sleep so I can't complain. I was watching a few programmes on Legoland I recorded, they were very interesting and looked a lot of fun for the children.

Going to check the lamb now, it'll need dishing up soon.

We've got leg of lamb steaks tonight with new pots and broc.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 31 Aug 2020 16:36

We have a lamb shank between us. Just picked a few runners and baby carrots to have with it with mashed potatoes.

Busy day today. Two lts of washing done and almost all dried (in the drier). Accounts sorted, end of month.

wretched e consult form completed for doctors, now have to wait for that to be sent to our surgery to see if he can have an appointment or phone call. Awful form and of cours headache flags up so much stuff. Last question was the number of alcohol units consumed and if he smoked or used to smoke.

OH has cut the lawn and tidies up a fe bits and picked in a load of apples. they are not as ripe as we's like but keep going rotten on the tree because the birds peck them. They keep well though and can be cooked as well.

Might make tomato chutney this week some time as well.

Evening All,

Being much the same with erratic and little sleep at times I know what it is like Vera. I stayed up to watch Strike which was vg, then couldn't get to sleep till about 2.30am. I woke at 8.00am so got some sleep in. If I alter my bedtime or have to be up early for something it seems to put me all out sleepwise.

How lovely, all those baby fish Mel! It will be interesting to see what colour they eventually become.

It was still and sunny enough to eat outside at lunchtime but we sat in the conservatory to do our puzzles. I'd put little pots of the pansy seeds to ripen on the window sills and blow me some had popped and scattered their seeds everywhere by this morning!

I hope your OH can soon be seen by someone AnnG as it must be miserable having both your head hurting and back as well. We spotted some weeds in the front today. Our neighbour has that awful creeping yellow clover in his lawn and he never treats it and we have an invasion of it now. OH went out with his trowel and has got rid of as much as he can, at least all the flowering bits. I looked at our surgery site and no mention of flu jabs yet.

I think Jane is about 17 miles from us so if her weather is the same she has had a nice day today weatherwise. I bet the locks (I think it is about 13 if I remember right) will be busy with holidaymakers on boats.

I had good intentions for today but none fulfilled!! OH has done his work most of today but we went out to fill his car up and to charge his battery we went for a little ride round.

I hope the weather is nice for Jane and she has a nice relaxing time away.

Sorry to hear you're not sleeping very well Ann, let's hope you have a better nights sleep tonight. I don't sleep very well if I know I've got to be up early in the mornings, that's why if I have to have an appointment for anything, I try to make it in the afternoons now.

It sounds like the e-consult form was quite long AnnG, I hope your OH hears back soon and can see a GP. We used to have lots of apples fall off our big apple tree if we weren't quick enough to pick them, they made such a mess so we took the apple tree out. I must admit I do miss making apple pies, so might treat myself to a smaller apple tree next year that I can grow in a pot. We do have one in a pot but it's very old and for some reason it didn't produce any apples this year.

Going to watch Gardening Together with Diarmuid Gavin now, it's the last one of the series and has been really good.

AnninGlos Report 31 Aug 2020 20:10

Gill I didn’t think there were many apples on the tree but I think oh said he has picked over 20 apples.
The lamb shank was tasty tonight and the runner beans and baby carrots were good too.
Doesn’t it get dsrk early now ? Eight o’clock and it is almost dark here.

Good morning. Oh dear the 1st September. goodbye summer. Just seen Glos had 9 new cases in the past 24 hours 3 of which are in our Borough. Seems like there is no stopping the blessed thing. Should have stayed in the LD not so bad where daughter is.

Morning all,

Bright and sunny blue skies and wispy white clouds here and there and it promisses to be another lovely day.

I had a good go at the front of the bungalow yesterday afternoon and was out there till past 7pm. It looks a lot batter now but theres still mre to do.

Jane's lodge look amazing so she should have a great break away.

Lots of subs on the Asda order this morning. They have sent decaf coffee for oh so he won't be pleased with that!! as he only drink coffee. I may keep it and have some myself. They have also sent me a 6 pint bottle of milk and I am not sure I can handle that with my hands. We'll have to see as I can't be without milk. They have sent a two pint too.

Anng yes it does get dark early now I was only thinking that the other day while shutting the chickens in.

Ooh he was quarter of an hour early, good job I was ready. A couple of hiccups down to me. somehow managed to order 3 Skyr yoghurts instead of one. One lasts me a week. Luckily they have a very long date on them. And goodness knows how I ordered 2 packs of walnuts instead of one. Mind you I was checking the list when tired from travelling. Nothing untoward though and no subs I wouldn't want, in fact on;y one sub at all. So all wiped and put away while OH was pottering out in the garden.

Morning All
We have had a lovely sunny morning so far and sat out for breakfast.Still sitting out now waiting for J&L to arrive. They will be here about 12.30.
Lots of dog walkers along the little canal path.It must be a popular route. So quiet here it is bliss.

We haven’t had a Tesco delivery for 3 weeks now as we seem to manage fine without.chris goes shopping once a week and James is happy enough now to go to Tesco.Me too occasionally.

I don’t know if I said but I now have a Blue Badge for the car.It took less than a week!!
So much easier for parking now.I do get terribly puffed out even just walking a short distance :-S

Better get these sandwiches made ready for lunch as I don’t want to be faffing about in the kitchen when they arrive.
Hope everyone had a lovely day today.
The weather is certainly better than I thought it was going to be

Afternoon all,

Jane it looks a lovely place to stay and you have had a good start weather wise I hope it stays that way for you all, what about the hot tub? been in yet .

I never turned the lap top on yesterday so I'm all behind with the posts ,lovely photo's of all the garden produce though ,I think we've all done ok withTomatoes this year our runner's have slowed up now but there's loads of little ones now coming along .

Been cleaning my oven this morning my goodness it needed doing ,nice and sparkly now .

We have had quite a lot of wasps in and I said to Colin there must be a nest close by ,just happened to look up at the roof when I went out and there were all the wasps going under a tile ,son ordered us some powder which came yesterday so this morning he was here nice and early and got the ladder out and has puffed the powder all over and under a few tiles ,I went out and had a look just now and there's not so many about so hopefully it will do the trick.

AnninGlos Report 1 Sep 2020 14:43

Jane that looks a lovely place for a relaxing break. I hope the weather continues to be good to you and Hope J and L arrived ok.

Mandy I hope that is the end of the wasps nest. horrible things wasps aren't they?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Sep 2020 16:05

Oh gets a foam spray for wasp nests as we get them under the tiles too some years but we've been pretty lucky this year. Finger crossed.

I have got two jars outside with old cider, jam and plums in and thats caught loads. I am thinking of putting one on the kitchen window sill as I get so many flies in here. Must be the wellies sitting by the back door ready to go to the chickens.

Super place Jane's gone to. I replied to her email this morning after posting.

Its clouded over here now but its been a lovely morning and I did all the wiping down and we had chicken and bacon slices for lunch so nice and quick.

I did'nt send the decaff back because I thought I would try it. I can't drink ordinary coffee with caffine in or tea. Decaff tea is horrid so I mainly drink Ovaltine and hot water with milk in. Can't stand hot milk on its own. LOVE cold milk though.

Annx Report 1 Sep 2020 16:41

Afternoon All,

Lovely sunny day here and it looks like Jane is having the same which is nice. The lodge is in a nice quiet spot with great views so ideal for a nice relax.

After watching the second Strike and enjoying it I slept well despite fretting I would wake up for my hair appointment this morning! I didn't want to be having a drink just before setting off as I didn't want to use the toilets while I was out so got up even earlier. All shorn nice and short again now, but I thought it was a bit disappointing the gym reception staff weren't wearing masks. I had to hold my mask in place with a hand while she trimmed round my ears and they had reduced risk even further this time by not blowing the bits off your plastic cape with the hairdryer or using the hairdryer much on my hair. I suppose it reduces the virus being blown around too. My hairdresser said she hasn't wanted to eat out anywhere yet either or go shopping. After I was done I drove to the next village where the stream runs through. I wanted to top my battery up and to look at this year's yarn bomb as I drove through. There were more exhibits this year but not the same standard as last year I thought.

After lunch I set the oven to clean itself as it has been working hard these last few months and it was showing on the inside! I don't think you are supposed to leave the shiny racks in so will do those later.

Hubby is going to his first footie match tonight at a very quiet little ground where very few attend so he will be able to keep away from everyone. It will be quite nice to have the bungalow to myself for a few hours.

Mel I seem to be getting more substitutes now and things out of stock. We had the Moussaka for the first time today, but we both said the leek and ham bake and shepherd's and cottage pies were nicer so won't order it again. I didn't remember the prog on your link but it looked good! I try to cut out most caffeine now so have everything decaf! I still think it was anxiety that caused my heart to race that time and me need tablets so I don't need any stimulants like alcohol, too much chocolate or caffeinated drinks. Could you decant some of the milk into a rinsed old milk carton or a bottle to make it less heavy? I think I would struggle with 6 pints!

I would have loved your dinner yesterday AnnG. Lamb shank is lovely and tender. I think we all make the odd slip with our orders, it is a tiring job anyway. Save me some date and walnut loaf!! :-D :-D

I hope the powder has got rid of the wasps Mandy. As you know I give them a wide berth now and you want them gone for when the children come round.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Sep 2020 17:00

Glad you are all shorn again ann. and a nice drive around the village.

Our next hair appointment is the 12th.

If I had any date and walnut cake I would certainly send you some but I am not sure where that came from as I haven't. did mention packs of walnuts maybe that was it. We have got some banana loaf that our neighbour made and froze while we were away. Using our manky bananas'
enjoy your peaceful evening.

Drat and double drat :-|. I have just lost a long post. It was my own fault this time. I was doing it on the iPad and accidentally slid my finger across the keyboard and must have wiped it somehow. I’ve tried to get it back but no luck. I don’t have time to redo it now so excuse me while I go and have a quick swear.
