Plenty of noise here, one little four year old has non stop chatter. We have a running commentary of what she is making with the connect. And she is very amused that great grandad has just snored. He is sleeping through the noise here.

That's annoying Mel, but at least he admitted it was them with the big tanker that did it. You would think they would know not to bring the big tanker with your oil by now.

Another parcel arrived for Mrs O today. She was in the garden the other day but was out this time. Her hubby came across to collect it this time when he got home from work. He kept a much better social distance than she did and he was wearing a mask too.

Today I used a pack of lamb mince to cook in a big pan with onions then added carrots, a pepper, few runners, courgette, butter beans and a small can of tomatoes, garlic paste, oregano, black pepper and some stock cubes. Half today with wholegrain rice and half to freeze for another day. I do like it when you can use up the odds and ends of veg in the fridge. :-)

Still not got to my drawers in the bedroom as I had to do the last course evaluation on line and do the bulk of my food order ready for the next delivery. Don't they soon come round! Next I need to arrange tomorrow's zoom meeting with my friends and download some photos. Hubby is doing more notes after a weeding session cut short with the rain. It doesn't seem to know when to stop now.

I hope Island is ok too, also Fg's daughter.

What I want to know is why they tried to get the big tanker down here when it was specifyed on the order BABY TANKER. Oh has managed to push it back a bit today with the mower as it was so wet.

I told the driver today that my husband was disabled and could'nt rectify it and was the firm going to pay for me to have it done. He told me to take photos and get in touch with the firm.

Ann does Mrs O have her parcels delivered to you then?

Made a big quiche for tonight just have to do the salad and we can eat.

Annx

Annx Report 27 Aug 2020 19:46

I think I would do that Mel. It wouldn't be easy to put right yourselves anyway, What have you put in your quiche? I have a substitute savoury pastry case I want to use up and a quiche sounds like a good idea.

Mrs O doesn't have things delivered here. She hardly ever goes out anyway and I don't think can drive. Workmen have moved the car on their front drive when it's been in their way. On the parcel we took in for her the other day it said to leave the parcel in her front porch, but she was at home and was in the back garden. She didn't hear the courier ringing the bell and had stupidly left the front porch locked so he couldn't leave it. We didn't ask, but today her hubby said they hadn't been notified the parcel was coming today.

It's stopped raining here now and OH is resting his brain flopped on the bed and watching sport. He's whizzed along with his work today though.

I put cheese in the bottom then cooked bacon followed by pre cooked onion, chopped home grown toms then a sliced mushroom (big one) more grated cheese then I put the eggs and milk in (4 eggs home grown) about a quarter of a pint of milk topped off with more grated cheese and topped with sliced tomatoes home grown. I forgot to take a picture of it!! and we ate it all wiith a green salad. It was the first one I have cooked in the quiche or flan tin I bought and it was a big one so if you have a bought pastry case when I use those I put two eggs and milk in those.

Sending love to Jane and hope FG's daughter is improving. I must email her again to see. <3 <3

Love the pic of your daughter's dog Vera, Olive is so cute. What breed is she?

I've sorted another drawer out today, plus all the housework, but I've stopped now as I'm not feeling great, I think I've got a water infection and have a terrible pain in my kidney, if it's no better in a day or two I'll ring my GP

I hope you had a lovely anniversary AnnG

Oh dear Mel, that's not good what the oil tanker did, will it take much to fix?

I like it when you can use up all the bits of veg to Ann. Your meal sound delicious, good idea to freeze some for another day. I tend to make to much so end up freezing some as well. Although I noticed today our freezer needs defrosting, so I'll be running it down over the next few weeks so I can de-frost it. Pleased to see Mrs O's OH kept good social distancing. I read online that there have been 75 staff who tested positive for Coronavirus in a chicken factory in Norfolk and lots of families are now self isolating. It's a bit worrying isn't it?

Well we had a lovely day and again thanks for all the good wishes and cards. Annx did you draw your card? I am intrigued as it looked so professionally made yet
I felt it was hand made.

This afternoon we had a fabulous afternoon tea. Either a selection of sandwiches, miniature qiches, tiny sausage roll, scones with cream and jam, several different cakes and a couple of lovely chocolates. Too much for us so we brought some home. We also had a glass of Prosecco and as much tea or coffee as we wanted. And daughter and SiL treated us.

Our table was in the conservatory of a country house hotel near Keswick and from the window across the grounds we could see the lake, most of the time it was. Lear but it started to rain just before EE left to come home.

There is only one problem, whatever OH has done to his back it is frslly painful when the car goes over bumps or traffiic calming bumps.

What a cold, wet afternoon and evening it’s turned out to be. It’s really autumnal today. I am wearing a long sleeved jumper and a cardigan tonight.

That’s a nice photo of you and Inara, AnnG, one to keep for the family album. I think I’ve said it before but Inara is so like our great niece who is a couple of years older (6 in September). They have the same colour hair and just the same general look about them. I hope you and T have had a lovely day in spite of the restrictions. (Edit: I see you did. The tea sounds yummy. Shame about OH’s back)

Mel, your quiche sounds good. I used to make a lot of quiches but I’ve got lazy over recent years and usually buy them now, but they are never as good. Our favourite home made one was tuna and cheese. It had sweet corn and onion in it. I must see if I can find the recipe.

I’m sorry to hear you’re not too well again Gill. Get OH to buy you some cranberry juice as that can be quite helpful for water problems. Olive, the puppy is a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois cross so she will grow into quite a big dog.

You do keep busy with your courses and Zoom meetings Ann. You put me to shame as I don’t seem to be doing very much at all. Yesterday I just faffed around all day but didn’t seem to achieve much. Today has been a bit busier. This morning I had to pick up my meds for the next four weeks so we called at Sainsbury’s on the way back and got some fresh veg and bread. It was OK in that everyone was masked and keeping a distance but I was glad to get out.

A friend was 70 at the weekend and the plan was that we “girls”, 12 of us, would take our own chairs and drinks and sit in a big distanced circle on the meadow opposite her house, meeting at 2.30. At 11.30 I got a phone call saying the time was changed to 1 pm as there was rain forecast for later, so it was a rush to shower, dry my hair, grab a very quick snack and get a present wrapped. As soon as we got there it came over very black and so cold. I was frozen. The birthday girl unwrapped her presents from us all and cut her cake and we all had a piece with a glass of non-alcoholic fizz and soon after 2 pm the rain started. One of the other ladies who also lived nearby invited us all into her house and I think some would have gone but I and a couple of others declined so no-one went. I couldn't believe anyone could have considered it. This lady has a tiny living room and minute kitchen. You’d be hard put to get a proper distance between 4 people in there, let alone 12! It was a shame for the birthday girl, who’s the youngest in our group, but things are what they are. We had discussed whether we should stick to the rules and only have 6 in a group which would have meant breaking into two lots but we felt that in a large meadow we could stay in one group and still keep a good distance.

I hope you are having a good day Jane and I’m also sending best wishes to fg’s daughter <3

Night, night everyone, sleep well.

Good morning. We again have Inara while daughter and SiL go to get some bits from Morrison’s. It is quite cold this morning and I do wish these mums would dress their little ones for the weather she has a sun type top on all bare arms and shoulders. Makes me feel cold. It is a bit hoe mum would dress she doesn’t feel the cold. I have a camisole, tee shirt and long sleeve tee shirt on and am still cold.

The longer this goes on I begin to question some of the rules. If everyone in a group meeting outside is two metres away from everyone else why does it matter if there are six or twelve. I can quite see Vera that twelve in a small house would not be safe though. That is why our garden interests group can’t meet

We have relaxed rules a bit here with having Inara and also having Joe’s girls but we did socially distanced from them indoors and they are very good at keeping a distance, one is a community nurse and one I think is a physiotherapist.who does home visits.

All this sticking to rules by us and people like us does not seem to be helping though as cases continue to rise.

Morning all,

Cloudy and bright this morning at the moment. Its grey out the front and sunny out the back. The fox is in the garden as I type and I have just taken a pic. Its a young one.

Got up in the night for the bathrroom and going back to bed I stubbed my toes on the wooden leg of the bed and cried out. It hurt so much it made my head shake if you know what I mean. Got myself into bed just aboutd must have fallen asleep but this morning there is blood all over the quilt cover and the fitted bottom sheet so its a bed change day today. the strange thing is I soaked my feet last week and cut all my toenails really well but the toe I have stubbed has a long nail on it so I must have missed that one and perhaps thats why it hurt so much. Not sure if I will be bale to get a shoe on so it may have to be sandles for a while.

Hope you all slept well and enjoyed yesterday what ever you were doing.

Wrote this and did'nt post it!!

Had this from FG yesterday and had'nt opened it.

Hello Mel,
Just a quick update about our daughter. They now know what is wrong with her, It's called Brain arterievenous malformation! It's a condition she was born with and for some reason flared up, why, we don't know! She is on medication to prevent seizures and she should be able to go home next week. In six weeks after the blood in her head has completely dispersed she will have another scan to see if she will need an operation to repair the lesion where the bleed occurred. I think she will be ok, but it may be a long haul, and as you can imagine we are pretty worried particularly as tonight when we talked to her she was so tired and quite tearful.
I won't be back on the thread for a while, but I will keep in touch. Please tell the others what the state of play is, and thank you for your concern.
FG x

Oh my goodness that must be a terrible worry for FG.always horrible when our children are ill. I am sure too that is frightening for her daughter. I hope the medication will help and stave off any seizures and then hopefully she can feel better. <3

Jane hope you are ok, as always thinking of you <3

SuffolkVera Report 28 Aug 2020 14:46

I'm sorry to hear about fg's daughter. I do hope the medication and treatment mean a speedy recovery for her. She must be feeling very down and a bit frightened. Your children don't stop being your children just because they've grown up so it must be a worrying time for fg and her OH as well. If you are in touch with fg, Mel, would you pass on my very best wishes please.

Where's Frank? I miss him when he doesn't post. I hope all is OK.

The day started grey but dry here so after doing the necessary h/w I went out to do some deadheading and tidying and, of course, within 10 minutes the heavens opened again. Since then it's been on and off heavy showers so I won't bother to go out to the garden again today.

You might remember that for about 6 months OH was taking a friend back and forth to hospital for chemo. That finished in May and after scans in June he was told that he could now have the eye treatment that was cancelled to allow the chemo to go ahead. His first appointment is today and OH has taken him to that. This time he has got to go to a hospital 35 miles away. OH will have to sit in the car while friend is in the hospital so I hope they aren't running late with their appointments or goodness knows how long OH will have to wait. He's taken a drink and a book with him but knowing my OH he'll probably doze off.

I am feeling very pleased with myself as I have managed to get my Family Historian program up and running on our new computer without getting in a muddle and without losing anything. I had to download the program again which meant I had to find my original registration details from years ago or pay for a completely new program. Thankfully I managed to find where I had filed them. I decided to do it while OH was out or he would have been hovering over me mansplaining and getting me all uptight and stressed.

I hope you're feeling better Gill and that you are having a good day Jane. Love to you both.

Well, I had better go and think about what we are going to have for dinner tonight and get some veg prepped. Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.
