Afternoon All

I am home again after a lovely weekend. I feel quite exhausted now lol . The show was a Musical called Everyone's talking about Jamie. It was brilliant. Funny ,sad and certainly gave you food for thought. It was about a 16 year old school boy who's dream was to be a Drag Queen. His Father ,teacher and some class mates were not kind and a lot of nasty bullying from one particular boy. But he was determined and 'did it' :-D. It was based on a real boy called Jamie and there has been a Documentary about his story. It was a fast paced ,with singing and dancing and the whole audience gave a standing ovation . I loved it.
When I came out of the ladies in the queue was Sandi Toxteth(wrong spelling) :-S But you know who I mean :-D
After the show we had a couple of drinks outside a bar in Soho and enjoyed an hour of people watching. My goodness you really do see some sights !!!!!!. Anything goes :-D :-D

I'm glad your friend enjoyed her trip to the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition Vera. Rather more sophistacted than my day :-D :-D :-D

I have just skimmed through a few posts as i need to get unpacked, wash my hair and have a bath. I have Physio again early tomorrow so it needs to be done now.

Great news about Lola :-D :-D She is going to be one very lucky little dog :-D. I hope it is not too long before she is able to come to England.

Wowzers what an egg Mel !!!!!!!!!!! Only a double poker though. I was hoping you might have had an extra one there. Poor Mona lot delivering that !!!!. I'm suprised she didnt need a rubber ring to sit on after that :-D :-D

Hope you sore hand is no worse Gill. It is a horrible place to give a nasty bash to.I suppose its because there is not much padding on the back of hands. You won't be giving OH a hug again next to that bit of corner worktop :-D

I am pleased to see little Lewis is doing well Mandy :-D.I expect each day is easier for him.

Right I really must get a wriggle on . The quick wash has just finished so it will be tumble dryer here now :-D. Other than it being so wet outside the washing line is totally broken now . Chris is picking up a new one tomorrow when I am at Physio.

Hope you manage ot get hold of Lewis Frank to see what he fancies to eat tomorrow.

Evening All,

Glad your back is a lot Better AnnG. I try to avoid painkillers too and try a heat patch or hot water bottle first. I must admit that since I had a hard mattress the same kind as Frank's Ros, my back has been so much better in that I can go to bed with backache sometimes and wake up with it gone. It took a bit of getting used to as you can't sink into it, (Frank will agree!) but I wouldn't be without it now.

Vera, we do that with clothes so there's minimal ironing too. OH wears mostly short sleeve shirts, open necked and we put them and my t shirt tops on coat hangers on the rotary to dry. We sometimes use the dryer facility on my washer dryer in winter for the towels but that's about all. Life is most definitely too short to iron knickers as you say, but I can remember people who did and ironed tea towels and socks too!

So it was double yolker then Mel! :-) I bet it was very nice too! No wonder she's a Mona Lott!!

This afternoon we went past where the car had gone through the hedge and it had been taken away. There are no trees, so no leaves on the road and it was bone dry on the road yesterday, although it might have rained during the night, which might be when it happened. It happens a lot in the lanes round here though and it's often young men. The most lethal hazard for making the roads slippery is the mud from all the farm vehicles and also lorries from all the new building sites there are in every village round here now.

That's good you enjoyed your trip and the show Jane! I doubt it would have been something I would have enjoyed, but you never know as it seems it went down well with the audience! :-)

Frank what a great result for LOLA and nice that Conrad will be able to see her when he comes home! NO don't be tempted to do the shower yourself, you know how it is, new holes will need drilling as the old ones are bound to be in the wrong place! :-)

We ate at home today and somehow I managed to spill boiling water over my fingers as I lifted the lid to refill it. I ran my hand under cold water for a while, but had to wrap my hand after as it was so sore. It has settled down now though.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Sep 2019 22:53

Ooooo thats not nice Ann. I hope its ok tomorrow but burns can linger for a long while. You did the best thing holding it under the cold tap. Thats what I do usually when I burn myself.

So you did'nt find out if the person in the car was ok or not then?

Jane it sounds like the show was just up your street and you had a wonderful time. was it just Hannah and you or was Gareth there too?

We had the food cleared from the bowl last night and thought it was'nt a hog so tonight I have had the camera in front of me all the time. I saw the fox looking at the food in the pen so took a shot at it. I did'nt hit it but it scared ti away and it ran off down the garden and must have gone over the bank.

Morning all,

Another dull and dreary day here and its been raining and still maybe for all I know as I have'nt been out there yet. The only good thing is today that the wind seems to have dropped as it been very windy here over the last few days.

Slept well last night and hope you all did too.

Hows the back this morning AnnG? Not as painfull I hope and getting better. Now don't do anymore stretching over plants.

Hope little Lewis is much better today and well on the road to recovery. Sending love and wishes.

Finished the other Fairy Sleepover sets yesterday so now they are all done and their bunting so they can go in my box of makes for the stall at Christmas.

AnninGlos Report 30 Sep 2019 10:05

good morning Mel, and everyone.

sadly my back seems to be worse again today, really tightened up again. No explanation as I didn't do anything yesterday to aggravate it. I assume it will just take time but it does drag you down.

Sunny here this morning but it looks as though we had rain overnight. I am not going anywhere, OH has gone to golf.

Gillx

Gillx Report 30 Sep 2019 10:48

Morning Mel and AnnG

Sunny here at the moment but boy did we have a lot of rain yesterday and through the night, the gardens loved it though and it's saved us having to water all our pot plants.

Oh dear AnnG, I'm sorry to hear your back is worse today. Do you have a bath? A nice soak might help. Maybe you should see a doctor incase you've done something you're not aware of. I hope it feels better soon. <3

So it was a double yolk egg in the end Mel, I bet it taste nice, much better than shop bought ones. It sounds like you're getting on well with all your makes for your Christmas stall. I've just realised it's the 1st October tomorrow, where did September go? :-S

How lovely Lola has found her forever home here in England Frank, Conrad will have peace of mind now and can visit when he's in the UK.....best of both worlds.

It sounds like you had a great weekend Jane, the show sounded very emotional. You'll be packing again ready for Plymouth now.

I hope you hand is feeling a little better today Ann after you burning it yesterday. Running it under the cold tap would of helped.

My hand is feeling much better than yesterday, although it's now purple as well as black and blue, at least the bruising is coming out, so it shouldn't take to long to heal. It was very sore yesterday, but at the top of my arm, which I thought was strange. OH said maybe I'd hit a nerve which was connected further up my arm, I don't know where all the nerves go, so he may well be right. All I know is, it was very painful all day. Thankfully it feels much better today.

OH is taking the screws out of the old fence that was taken down when next door put up there 5 foot fence. It's pieces of wood about 6 inches wide by around 16 foot long. Now the screening is finished at the side of the bungalow I'd like to make a nice area of plants and flowers for Sandra to look out on from her bedroom window and re-use the wood, putting it around the pots to make it look like a raised border, it would also stop the pots being blown around in the wind. I'm also hoping to put a few lights out there and have the switch in Sandra's room so she can turn the lights on and off herself. I think electric lights would be better than the solar ones, then we're not relying on the sun all the time. Sandra loves lights, so I might see if I can find some pink flower ones for her to look out on, she'd like that and maybe some coloured lanterns too.

Going to make OH a cup of tea now, then settle down and watch Sanditon while I'm on my own.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Sep 2019 11:16

It sounds to me as though you have spit a vein in your hand Gill. That would make a bruise if you had a little leak there and also give you a pain up your arm if the vein is bruised.

Sounds nice what your going to do with the wood and as you say it will keep the pots from bowing over and make it look like a raised bed.

Afternoon all,

After trying the shower about 50 times, I GOT IT ON. I showered and washed my hair, and Ros said leave it on for me, So she went in once I was out.

Waking machine is on, doing all the towels, then more coloureds, she did a Whites wash yesterday.

I feel absolutely drained, had another bad night, and feel so tired. Will try to catch up pn the posts later. Dull and dreary here, JUST LIKE ME. xxxx

Frank your email...... OUCH!

Gil, it is just a strain and will eventually pass I am sure, not worth a GP visit. Hope the bruise eases more over the day. You must have given it a hearty whack. Lesson, don't get so excited giving OH a cuddle!! :-D

Jane Report 30 Sep 2019 16:47

Afternoon Everyone
The rain had arrived here now. I was just speaking to a friend who I will be seeing on Thursday . She is just the otherside of Saltash in Cornwall and she says it is tipping it down and thick fog too. She has put her heater on. I said I will make sure I wear something thin then on thursday as I will over heat if she still has that on.

Had my second session of Physio at the hospital gym this morning.I am finding it very useful even though I am stiffening up .4 more sessions to go.

Your poor back Ann sounds so sore. The problem with any kind of strain is that it can takes ages to stop being painful . That gel you are using sounds ot be helping. Is it as good as the big brand one?

So you are all clean after having a successful shower Frank :-D. That was a good idea of Ros to get you to leave it running so she could hop in after you.I hope you find someone who can fit the new one for you soon if as you say it might be a while before Harvey can do it.

Mel ,I reckon your Fairy Beds and bunting will go down a storm and sell well :-D

When I looked at your email of you and your nose I couldnt see what I was supposed to be looking for !!!. I must have missed something :-S Nice to see you though :-D :-D.

I have more or less packed my case again . I think James has been packing his. I am not taking food for the cottage other than tea, coffee cereal etc as I think we will eat out mostly . If I decide to do a meal one evening then there is a big Morrisons quite near by. I am hoping James might fancy having a lovely Cornish Pasty for one meal as I know a good bakery close by :-D :-D. I am almost salivating now just thinking about Pasties :-D :-D
We shall probably leave here about 10 tomorrow and get to Plymouth early afternoon . But we cant get into the cottage until 3 so I have said to James there is no need ot rush !!. I know I am just going to have to bite my tongue in the car lol.

I may take my laptop with me .

Frank are you going for a meal tonight with Lewis?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Sep 2019 16:48

Done clearing up throwing stuff out and ironing and now if the rain has stopped I am going to go and corn the chickens then make a drink as my mouth is like the desert, very dry.

Frank Report 30 Sep 2019 16:58

Still horrible here dark and raining. Have been waiting for a call from Lewis. He said he would phone about going out for a meal this evening for his 21st. Typical of a lad of his age. NO CALL. We can't get him or Julia on the phones. Something wrong somewhere. So I have sent him an Email. If we don't hear by 5.30. We will go out, as I haven't prepared anything for dinner. KIDS. !!!!

Jane

Jane Report 30 Sep 2019 17:26

You just answered my question there Frank :-D I can see it is just you and Ros eating out tonight.

Mel, isnt another expression about a dry mouth something like The bottom of a bird cage? :-D

Easy dinner tonight. I just need to brown off some diced chicken and then add sauce (from a pouch) Pouches of rice and a bag of micro veg. Lazy or what !!! I dont care :-D As long as it is tasty and edible that is all that matters this evening. Chris will be fending for himself for the next few days.Although I think he is out to lunch tomorrow with his old friend Sue from work. So it is just wed and thurs he will have to cook . When James and I get home on Friday we will have a home delivery Chinese.

Gillx

Gillx Report 30 Sep 2019 17:36

Oh dear Frank, you're not having a good day are you, first the bad nights sleep, then the shower and now you can't get hold of Lewis or Julia. I hope Lewis can make it to the meal as I know you and Ros have been looking forward to it.

So you're all packed and ready for the off again Jane.......you little jet setter you lol ;-) I hope the weather improves, it sounds very wet by you.

I decided I didn't need to see the GP AnnG, it's just a bad bruise and will go on it's own. It feels a lot better today and the ache in my arm has eased off a bit to. How are you today, I hope the pain has eased for you to?

I didn't think about the vein Mel, you could possibly be right as I did give it a good whack. Like AnnG said I need to be a bit slower giving OH a cuddle in future. ;-) It sounds like you've been busy today to.

Well OH timed his outside jobs just right, he'd just finished when the heavens opened, it's like a monsoon out there now. I gave him some help, not that I could do much but at least I managed to move some of the smaller plants into place while OH moved the bigger ones.

You should of seen the massive smile on Sandra's face.......bless her. She can't wait for it all to be finished, although she might have to wait a while for the lights as the Garden Centre hasn't got them all out on display yet, they've just started with their Christmas area so we're not allowed to go into that area yet, but once they are bought and in place she will finally have something pretty to look at.

I took a look out of her window before and realised we need one taller plant in the middle. I forgot our bungalow is two steps up from the ground to you have to look down a bit to see the full effect of the plants. If I put a larger one opposite her window she'll be able to see it better, plus it'll cover where two pieces of screening join. At the moment it shows a bit of the black plastic behind it.

We have a tall plant in the back garden we're going to use, so it won't cost us anything. We just have to wait for the brighter weather to come back so we can do it for her. I love making things for her and seeing her face light up, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Now all I have to do once outside is finished is think about what I'm going to make for Christmas, I still can't think of anything that's quick and easy and includes lights. Sandra loves making things for Christmas with me and has lots of things in her room now.

Over the years I've made Advent calendars, pictures of snow scenes, two 3D Christmas scene inside shoe boxes that stand on it's side with lights and tinsel around the edges and of course Christmas decorations for Sandra's pink Christmas tree. So now I'm running out of ideas of what to make next that Sandra can and I can do together.
Any ideas would be great, if anyone can think of anything. <3

Jane Report 30 Sep 2019 19:15

It will be lovely for Sandra to be able to turn the lights on and off outside when you have it all set up Gill :-D Quite magical :-D

It is raining even heavier here now :-S Thomas is holed up in the Summerhouse . I can see me dashing out later to bring him in for the night.

I wish I was a jet setter Gill :-D So many places in the world I would love to see. But Plymouth it is this time . My friend is in the Hospice now ,but her daughter says it is just hopefully for a few days to get a few problems sorted out . The hospice is a 2 minute drive from where I will be staying so when I get there tomorrow afternoon I will go straight there to see her,and then hopefully again on Wednesday. Her Daughter said her Mum is really looking forward to seeing me. It is just going to be so hard :-(

Time for dinner now and then check I have everything I need packed . I filled the car with Diesel today so no need to top up at the VERY expensive service station petrol stations. I am thinking I might need Galoshes with this rain !!!!!!!! and a Sou'wester !!!!!

I hope you have a good journey down Jane and James dos'nt drive too fast. Stay safe and put on a brave face when you see your friend. So nice to be able to do that as my best friend died in France and she was 6 months younger than me. Her hubby never even told me. I used to send her Cadburys drinking chocolate because she could'nt get it in France.

I have sewn a button on my cardi that came off weeks ago. I kept meaning to do it so this mornng I told myself I MUST do it today. After all it dos'nt take a minuet to sew on one button. All done now and I have made a load of drop scones and we sat down and ate some while they were still hot with homemade blackberry jelly, strawberry jam and oh had one double one with maple syrup on. Too runny for me. ot cooking tonight as we are having curried beans on taost. Its years since I have had them and Em next door got me two big tins.

Annx Report 30 Sep 2019 20:10

Evening All,

Raining again here now yet it was sunny and bright this morning.

I had bad tummy cramps last night so was in bed early. I think it must be a bug as it was like OH's tummy ache he had a month or so ago.

I googled to see if there was any info on the car in the ditch but there was nothing about it Mel. It did say that another car went into a ditch at 4.45pm yesterday, only a mile away from the other one, on the road where mum and dad's house was when I was a teenager! It is a straight road so OH said straightaway 'going too fast'. A lamp post was bent but no serious injuries. I told you these things happen all the time round here! :-) That's good you are getting some things done ready for the fayre. :-)

Oh dear Frank, I hope Lewis didn't forget, it's not like him! Still, at least you and Ros could have a nice meal. We usually follow each other in the shower as it saves the wiping of the tiles twice!

Jane, going to see your friend is the best thing you can do for her now. Will James be going with you or will you see her on your own? The saddest thing I would think will be the saying goodbye when you go and knowing you won't see each other again. How sad.

Gill it must be so worth it doing things for Sandra as she seems to enjoy anything that's done for her. It's a good idea what you are doing with the plants and raised bed effect and the lights will be the icing on the cake. I'm short of ideas myself this year but am determined to make my old christmas cards into something this year. I hope your hand and arm soon get better. It must have been quite whack you gave it!

AnnG it sounds like you pulled your back a bit more than you thought, but will just have to be careful and slap the gel on for a few days.

Jane have a safe journey down. I am sure you will later on be pleased that you made the journey and your friend will be pleased to see you. It will be hard for you so stay strong.. and while you are down there make the most of Plymouth and enjoy the pasties.

Ann hope your tummy is better today, maybe something you ate.

My back will get better I have had it before it just takes time.

Gill I wonder if you could make a cottage or two out of card or something and decorate with snow on the roof and make a snow scene? With lights of course.
