Good afternoon all. Just chuckling Frank as Ros 'sent you to the car' to sort out the appointment herself. I do know how she feels sometimes.
Pleased that Lewis liked his ring.

We have just done a small shop (big one tomorrow), as we have about 12 of us this afternoon for a U3A meeting here. So downstairs has been blitzed and thee top end of the garden tidies (it is a gardening interests group. and the cups are ready for tea and biscuits bought :-) :-)

I slept well last night thank goodness, the best for four nights. I had three really bad nights before, no reason why. Gill if you sleep in the day can you still then sleep at night?

Frank

Frank Report 26 Sep 2019 13:28

AnnG, I know Ros has far more patience, than me, when it comes to things like that. So good she was with me. I hope everything goes off alright this afternoon, nd the rain holds off.

As for sleeping during the day, it's a definite NO NO for me. Ros on the other hand can sleep for a couple of hours in the afternoon, and still sleep though the night, except for loo trips.

Ros, has a Mammogram at 1.50 this afternoon at Roade, A couple of miles away. She has to request them, now she's over 70. Carolyn hasn't had one for years, so Ros talked her into having one. She goes on Monday.

Washing blowing in the breeze, that will smell lovely when she brings it in.

Pork Spare Ribs, in a Chinese marinade, given chips and corn on the cob. Nice and easy, and not a lot of washing up.

Choir Practice tonight at the Blisworth Church. Ros will pick Val Barker up on the way. She might stop and have a coffee/tea with her, when she drops her off around 9.30 pm. That will leave me to watch my Police Intercepters, while recording her soaps.

I have left feedback on the Rose's I bought for her Birthday last week. The heads are all drooped over, and their petals are dropping onto the carpet. Not pleased with the quality, and they were not that cheap either.

Ros is busy again making these "TWIDDLE MUFFS" for Sally, she likes them to be available to patients with Dementia. It keeps their hands busy sitting in the Ambulance. Ros has already made over THIRTY, and is now on the FIFTH in this session. She sits knitting while watching T.V.

Afternoon all,

What a morning ,poor little Lewis is poorly DIL took hi to the doctors this morning and told her its a bad chest infection .
We popped down and he was fast asleep on the sofa ,he them woke up and was struggling for his breath ,son rang for the ambulance and the person on the phone gave us the code to get the Defibrillator from Morrisons in case he stopped breathing ,luckily the ambulance station is close by so by the time i had got out the door to go and get it the ambulance was coming ,they checked him and put him on a Nebulizer ,gave him some other medicine and whisked him off with blue lights and siren .
Son has just rung and he has Croup ,he's now on another Nebulizer and has had some thing to stop his throat from swelling up any more ,they are keeping an eye on him for a few hours and then we'll know more .
I feel all of a dither i can tel you ,poor little boy he was really struggling .

Sorry you had a bad night Gill. Perhaps tonihgt will be better if your doing the screening today.

We don't usually hear you have had a bad night AnnG. I am like Ros and could sleep on a knifes edge most night but then again like Frank if my mind is busy and I keep thinking about things I will have a night when I just can't sleep till the very early hours.

Safe journey home today Vera. Hope there are not many aches from your fall or bruises.

O my gosh Mandy what a fright for all the family. Its so horrible when a child is so ill like that. If he is in hospital thats the best place for him with the nurses looking after him. Did DIL go with him in the ambulance?

Jane Report 26 Sep 2019 15:50

Afternoon All

Just in from the hairdressers .

Oh my Mandy how frightening for everyone. Poor little Lewis . Croup is a horrible thing but at least he is now in safe hands and getting all the good treatment needed.
How lucky was that that the Ambulance arrived so quickly !!!! I am not surprised you are all of a dither. It was a very frightening experience. How old is Lewis now? I forget.
Is it 3? Fingers crossed that his breathing will be much easier now .

Frank, what a good job Ros was with you at the surgery. If you had kicked off you could easliy have been struck off the list !!!!!!. She did right to get you out to the car swiftly :-D :-D.. I do understand though how it must have been frustrating for you though to be told you would be seeing someone else who knew nothing about you .At least it is only a few days to wait now until your new appointment . Hopefully your own GP will be better and back at work then.

That would be nice if Lewis could manage to get the Bedford Crest on the Signet Ring :-D. I bet you are thrilled he loves his present.

AnnG, have you had a good get together with your group of friends from the group? Was the weather good enough for them to have a mooch around your garden or have you had heavy showers like we have had? I got caught in one just as I was walking from the carpark to the hairdressers. At least it was on the way there and not when I came out :-D.. It seems to be getting pretty breezy here. Loads of washing had got dried today but something on the line has broken so Chris has just whizzed off to B&Q.

It is London tomorrow Frank for me (not Plymouth) that is on Tuesday.

Ann, I hope you have enjoyed Downton Abbey today. I never mentioned it yesterday as we left the cinema after just an hour. Chris found it boring !!!!. I didn't but it was so hot in there and I had the dreadful fidgets I just could not sit still . So we decided to leave and will then see it again when it comes out on Netflix. It was a long film anyway. 2 hours . The though of trying to sit still for another hour made me even more fidgety LOL

I must go upstairs and pack my case for tomorrow. I know I don't need much but as you know I am very good at filling a case no matter what size it is :-D

Frank the poor chap who sweated so badly at `physio didn't smell. It was just the amount of sweat that was pouring off him . Mind you he would have needed a good shower when he got home otherwise he would have ponged :-S

Gill, I hope you haven't slept too much today even though you were so tired after a rotten night. I never dare sleep during the day as I just know that would stop me sleeping at night. Chris can have a good nap sometimes for a couple of hours and yet still manage to sleep all night.

Oh Mandy, let us know when you hear how Lewis is. that was really frightening for him and for you all. Lucky though that the ambulance was so quick. Our great granddaughter has had chect problems in the past and was taken to hospital by her parents when she struggled to breath. Seems she had a mild asthma attack and has an inhaler now to use if it happens again. Luckily it hasn't so far.

Jane, you are the first to say you didn't enjoy Downton. We don't have plans to see it at the cinema, sounds as if T would find it boring as well as he never watched it on TV.
Have a good trip to London, we look forward to hearing about it.
We had a good meeting, there were twelve of us all together, had to resort to folding garden chairs. Everybody had a good chat and we solved a few problems and gave away a few cuttings and surplus plants. The sun shone so they were able to walk down the garden and point out plants they want pieces of.

Mel I do occasionally have nights when I can't sleep but not usually three in a row.

Jane

Jane Report 26 Sep 2019 17:33

Glad you had a good time AnnG. You were lucky with the weather.
I wouldn't say I didnt enjoy Downton . I was really . It was Chris who thought it was boring and a bit slow to get going. He enjoyed it when it was on TV.I was just so hot and fidgety that I couldn't really concentrate properly. I even kicked my shoes off to see if that would help cool me down !!!.

It is getting really dark and rainy looking again here.Almost a bit stormy looking.

I am really curious to know what Matinee I shall be going to on Saturday. I will make sure I wear something really cool and with short sleeves . I will not be taking a coat or even a cardigan. Maybe an umbrella :-D I think tomorrow evening we may just have a takeaway and eat in at the flat.I bought one of those bags/pouch of wine with a tap on the bottom to take with me :-D

Just rang my poorly friend. She was too tired and weak to speak so I had a good chat with her daughter. There is definitely no hope now for her :-( Chemo would only give her another month so Sue has decided not to go for that. We have arranged I will go and visit on Wednedsay afternoon as mornings are not good . I am going to have to get my very brave head on as I know I am going to get a shock when I see her .

Do let us know when you hear how Lewis is doing Mandy. <3

Afternoon All,

Oh poor little Lewis Mandy! How scary for you all too with him struggling to breathe. I hope with treatment he is now improving and it's good the ambulance arrived so quickly. I bet you are all shaken up with the fright of seeing him like that. Thanks for the tip off about the craft program.

Frank you don't know how lucky you are to be able to see the same doctor each time! More than half of ours work part time now, which I expect is easier for them to do than for most people as their average pay is £75,000 at our surgery. But it sure makes it harder to see the same person for their patients. I've tried twice to book my mammogram as, like Ros, I have to self refer now. Mine is overdue, which is especially worrying as I had to have a biopsy last time. Each time they tell me the rules are being changed to extend the age to 73 and that they have to write and get information from all the doctors' surgeries and can't book me in till my surgery responds!! :-S This has been going on for over 2 months now. What a blooming shambles things are, even when you try to look after your own health!

That's great that Lewis loves his ring and is going to see if he can get the Bedford Coat of Arms put on it. How nice he will be going for a meal with you after all as well. :-) Ros is so good with all she does for charity, knitting these twiddle muffs and I recall she knitted premature baby hats once as well. It puts me to shame as I don't even get chance to go to many meetings at the Hospital now. There are far fewer and they seem to just want people who actually have Diabetes now and the preventative aspect seems to have gone on the back burner.

I haven't seen any daddy longlegs yet this year but have plenty of those baby Harvesters with the long legs in the en suite. OH showed me his mouse preventing planks across the garage door this morning. They should work well, but he needs to put a couple of bricks at each end to block off the sides as there is a half inch space each side at the very bottom and they could squeeze through it. If we don't move from here we will get a remote controlled roller door which would be a closer fit and hopefully keep them out. They come from the field behind us and I just wish they stay there as I don't like killing them.

When I went to the gym ####### years ago, we kept our towel with us and everyone mopped themselves down between each machine. I would feel drips trickle down my back and forehead. The woman in charge didn't help though as she was a nesh sort and despite the gym being air conditioned she had an electric fire on in there! :-S

We didn't go to see Downton this morning after all Jane so may go next week. We were both just too tired today, despite a good night's sleep. I found remembering the stitches yesterday was a real workout for my brain and OH has had so many meetings this week. I hope we find it less boring than Chris did though! Two hours is a long time to sit and not enjoy something. I remember us walking out in a stage version of Acorn Antiques which we loved on the telly and expected to enjoy.

Yes I was surprised you had a bad night AnnG. Maybe it was because people were visiting today, although you were all prepared. I usually can't sleep if I have to get up early for an appointment. I remember at school if there was an exam the next day or a training session at work I often would be awake all night. We have woken up boiling hot this week, even with no heating on.

He will be five in January Jane .

Yes Mel Dil went in the ambulance with him ,he wasn't keen on going but they told him they would put the lights and siren on for him but I bet he went to sleep as he has been awake most of the night .

Good to read that young Lewis is home. It must have been such a frightening time for him and all his family.
Hopefully he will have a restful night.

I remember travelling to hospital in the ambulance with grandson, when he had asthma. As he got older, he was gradually able to leave off the inhalers and has lead a busy active life with no further breathing troubles.

Here's wishing Lewis a full recovery.

That's good news they were happy he was well enough to come home Mandy. I bet he will sleep well tonight. It's a good idea for your son and DIL to do shifts keeping an eye on him tonight. At least that way they will both get some sleep rather than both of them not being able to sleep at all. I hope he is soon better from the chest infection. The poor little mite! I bet you are all exhausted now.

Mandy, I was so sorry to read about little Lewis. It must have been a frightening experience for the little boy and the family. I am glad he is home and hope he makes a very rapid recovery.

We had a good journey back and got home about 7 pm tonight. We then had beans on toast - a bit of a come down from the lovely 3 course dinners and wine that I have been having. I am now going to have an early night and hope to get a decent sleep.

Morning all,

Its just started raining here that fine stuff and its grey skies all over. Miserable in other words.

Mandy how is Lewis this morning I am sure you have rung to find out. Did he have a good night? Sending more wishes.

I had cramp in my right calf this morning which brought me around quickly and had to lift my foot up to release it but now I have an ache in my muscle which will no doubt last all day.

Did you all sleep well last night? I went to bed early for me as I was tired but I did lay there a while before dropping off. I kept thinking of Frank and his thoughts at night and had to make myself stop.

Frank

Frank Report 27 Sep 2019 11:46

Good morning Mel, and all.

So sorry to hear about Lewis, Mandy. I do hope he is recovering, and will soon be back to his normal self.

Yes Mel, it's a right old rigmarole trying to shut my mind off, and try to sleep. If I do sleep early, I wake up early, so a no win situation.

Ros came home from her Mammogram VERY CHEERFULL INDEED. The woman who registered her asked the usual questions, including DOB. When Ros told her she said. " I DON'T BELIEVE THAT, you look more like SIXTY than SEVENTY-FOUR. She was so CHUFFED. ;-) ;-) ;-) I must admit, she does dress herself with some very nice things, and having her hair, and nails done regulary, keeps her looking young. It's a good job the pain she is in, doesn't show on her face. or she would look more like NINETY.

The weather forecast isn't good for the next week or so, RAIN AND WINDS so batten down your hatches.

We had the Road sweeper lorry round this morning, I wondered what the noise was. Do any of you remember the old ROAD SWEEPERS, with their dustbins on wheels, with the broom and shovel on the side of the framework. (where do these silly memories pop up from) lol lol

Ros enjoyed DOWNTOWN at the cinema, but she also loved the series on T.V. Like most men, I could take it or leave it.

I don't think we are going to see any sunshine today. It looks horrible out there.

Might catch up with the recordings of the Tower of London, that has been on the last few weeks.

Enjoy your London Trip Jane, and try to keep your chin up when you go to Plymouth. Difficult I know. but good luck. xxxx

I remember those bin men Frank. They used to keep the streets nice and clean.

Once when I went to Bishops Stortford and it was snowing they had a man with a hoover type thing clearing the pavements of snow. Never seen it again anywhere.

When I can't sleep and keep thinking of things I try to just think of blue and it usually works. Oh says he says to himself THE over and over again.
