Good afternoon all from a drizzly Dorset.

Actually this morning the weather wasn't too bad, high cloud and quite bright but very windy. We drove a few miles down the road to Abbotsbury sub-tropical gardens. We have been before but they are very impressive with lots to see so we decided to lash out (£8.50 each) and go again. They have put in one new bit which should be nice in future spring times as it is the magnolia walk, it is quite a stiff hill walk but when you get to the top you can see to Portland Bill over the Chesil beach in one direction and, on a clear day, all the way to Start Point in Devon in the other direction. wecould see the Bill and could see to Sidmouth so it was worth the climb, and the Chesil beach is always impressive. We were impressed to see a pair of Golden Pheasants in the gardens and also about six young ones, already looking very bright with their beautiful feathers. They were running around and quite tame. In a large enclosure there was also a Kookaburra. We had our lunch in the car overlooking a field and forest and saw several ordinary pheasants plus a large bird which at first we thought was a buzzard, but it went into the quite dense trees, we didn't think a buzzard would do that, when it flew out again we only saw it briefly but wondered if it was an owl, although it seemed to fly too fast for an owl.
It started to rain at about 2.30, not heavy but quite cold so we came back to the apartment for a cup of tea and decided we would stay in.

The trouble with walking round gardens like that is they give you ideas, unfortunately the ideas have to be scaled down when you remember the size of your garden back home Lol!!! We really liked a border thatw as all grasses and are wondering if it will work with one of our borders, may be tempted to give it a go.

Afternoon All :O) we've not had any rain, but getting chilly!

Ouch BC. I've had the 'planted wotsit' for a few months now.....Remember ,when I stayed, I mentioned my heels and how they had improved? you said it was because of the Irish spirits ;O) they're still a little tender (but not as bad now)......keep gently stretching your heels ,while standing a little from a wall...I like to wear padded socks too.
Hope feet get better quickly so you can walk your wee T.

Just reading your mention of garden fleece Daff brings me a dread of winter brrr.....but glad you're keeping busy and feeling well ;O))

I'm off on my hols. so........Arrivederci!

evening everyone....had trouble getting on earlier....try again!

Jude - bless....poor mum, I used to work in a pre-school, and having to peel the children off the mum's isn't pleasant, but the children were usually fine, very quickly....the mum's on the other hand....

Daff - we used to sing a different version....

Kookaburra sits on a 'lectric wire
Jumping up and down cos his bums on fire
scream, kookaburra, scream
kookaburra, call for the fire brigade....

our guiders daughter taught us that on camp....her mother was seriously unimpressed!

Mau - have a lovely holiday, it sounds amazing....my OH uncle owns a villa in Italy, OH has been promising me, for as long as we've been together that he'll take me there....we've been together nearly 14 years, married for 10.....am still waiting! lol! have a good trip!

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 15 Sep 2009 21:35

Hi Daff and all

I had such good intentions this week and all gone to pot with the stress of chasing the lost cheque which has completely scuppered my holiday plans etc so I am not a happy bunny. I am now sure it will be rubbish weather in Corfu, I think they have had some thunderstoms this week and I am desperately hoping it isn't another Malta scenario with floods and rain almost daily.
I need rest, sunshine, nice food and booze..... and no more hassle! Please all cross your fingers or whatever for my cheque to turn up on Thursday.

Hope everyone copes with whatever is coming at them and finds things to smile about...

Huia, hope the new slippers don't go walkabout, it's so annoying when things get mislaid in hospitals etc. Any further news about the medication being defined and the new home chosen? Very glad you are getting out and about to your choir etc and good that you can have a nap between times.

Take care all

love

Morning all.... oh dear, a bit dismal here, this morning!! Never mind.... I have a hairdressers appointment at 11, so will feel better after that, I expect.... my hair looks a bit like a toilet brush at the moment... it has grown back so thick and strong, but is very soft.... I daren't dry it with a hairdryer, lol.... Hopefully I'll have some texture and style cut back into it.

Aw Liz... I do hope all goes well.... no, I'll qualify that.... I am SURE everything will go well, and that you will have a wonderful time...... that is real positive thinking, and it works for me xxxxxx

Morning Maz. and Jude

Thank you Mamiddau.... what have you done to me? A middle aged Girl Guide throwback singing cruel words about poor kookaburras, lololol

Well... must go and do something constructive for a little while......

Blustery here today but sunny and not cold. We went to Broadwinsor to a collection of little shops selling all sorts of things, gifts, unusual ornaments, crystals and unusual jewellery, patchwork materials etc and a craft shop called Scrap it. Guess which shop got a lot of my money Lol!!! Surreal being in Broadwinsor as it is where OH's Gt Grandfather was born and grew up, we have been there before and there is not much to see but we had a look at the village as we drove through, couldn't see any old cottages so I guess a lot have been demolished to make way for new houses. We then drove on a bit and had our lunch looking out over the valley and thought about the fact that the scene would not have changed since his Gt g|randfather lived in the area as there were very few vilages and houses between there and the sea. Next stop was West Bay where we went for a walk along the promenade and sat for a while in a sheltered spot soaking up the sun before driving on to the beach near where we are staying where we had an ice cream and sat and watched all these fit marines doing a coastal path run with packs on their backs.

OH's turn to cook tonight so it is sausage, beans bacon and eggs with toast!!!
