*sighs and takes really nice material with gold discs on it, perfect for sewing Queen's breastplate* Truly.... I remembered a length of material I bought years ago, to make into *something* for a fancy dress do at the Mess.... never got around to it, but made a snazzy outfit with something else and went as a tube of UHU, lol... true, honestly... my cap was nicked and someone had written a rude double entendre, (before 'finding' it and handing it back), that I didn't understand, so happily wore all night, much to everyone's amusement, lololol

I won first prize, which was ferry tickets with cabin back to UK!!

Mamiddau, that job didn't have your name on it... one that is perfect for you will come along soon, I'm sure!

Mazz, I did, too... but I have another one for the grandchildren to use, and so one had to go.... the other includes gramps as well, lol I had to cull 8 addresses. I could still cry over my Daffodil one!!

BC... yeh, I dares you too!!!! Godiva!! Anyone got a horse you could borrow? Or what about the pony who pulls your lovely painted caravan.... he isn't doing much except eating and pooping out the rose growing stuff... he could earn his keep??

I'm sure we could get you a nice long wig...... mmmm!!

Aphrodite could be a bit more difficult..... I mean, at least with a horse you get to move around... standing at the edge of the world in a giant oyster shell might be a bit uncomfortable... and how would you lift yer bailey's without arms?????? Not that your Bailey's needs arms... but Aphrodite doesn't have any, does she???? Oh, and the Lady of Shallot... well she got herself floated, dead, down a gentle stream........ and into the lake... not at all like where you are going... and we could hardly get the same effect floating you on the QE2 or sommat, now could we?????

Ann, have a lovely time........ see you when you get back xxxxxx *wonders what Ann will do with the holey breastplate?*

Love

ButtercupFields Report 10 Jul 2009 15:42

*sobs...where are you Daffy when I need you! Hayley and TW are busy on their bleddy farms so I can't tell them of the most turrible experience I have just undergone! *gulps for air......

When I woke up this morning I was in the mood for change so I found this Colour Specialist near Covent Garden and thought I would go there and let them do my hair, instead of me doing the dye stuff as I usually do. I felt like a bit of indulgence:-)

So this lovely man called Patrick and I had a 'consultation'...no charge (lol) and decided on a lovely 'copper' 'rich' shade which would 'enhance' my Celtic colouring...lol...

Anyway when the dye was on and the time was up I said a bit nervously..'.bit dark isnt it'? It's WET !! said Patrick dancing round me in a jolly but slightly nervous fashion. Anyway my heart was sinking fast as he blow dried it....' I look like Morticia from the Adams Family!!!...I wailed, sliding off the elegant chair. A silence had descended on the Salon. In fact the colour was almost like my natural colouring of dark brown which I havent' seen for 40 years. *shudders..

So, the desperate Patrick dragged me out to the thronged pavement, towels and drapes and all waving a large mirror. See, see! he said....it's MUCH lighter in nartural daylight.

No it isn't..I sobbed...

Anyway the upshot was he lightened it three more shades or summat..and whilst it is quite flattering I suppose...I am no longer a Redhead!!!!!!

*collapses on someone's bussom..

oops where's my manners, and how was YOUR day?

pmsl BCXXX. *preening in front of mirror........

MrDaff Report 10 Jul 2009 16:26

Lol BC... you poor thing you *pours HUGE glass of Baileys into Waterford Crystal glass... passes Nottingham lace napkin to wipe trembling lips* But you look FABULOUS, honestly!

See where gallivanting has got you??? Why didn't you get your visitor to do it for you???

Are you going to go back there again? Maybe Patrick won't make the same mistake again... and you do deserve to be pampered! That's if all your hair doesn't fall out.... but hey, don't worry about that... I so love my new hairdo that I am going to keep it very very short and erm, am not going to enhance it for a while!!

Mazz..... nearly there then!! Will you get your garden done, in the holidays?

I have just got back from the Gynae clinic.. I have to go into hospital, don't know when, but soon, they think... they can't do the biopsy I need as a day girl cos my platelets are too low and my BMI is too high, lolol!!

I can't stand it!! I had to get it back in for him, lol

Spoilt rotten, that darned cat!! He eats more than the other three put together!!

Evening Daff, well......what can I say? BC, I cant offer you an ample bosom, but a 36b, will that do? you poor, poor girl!
Thats why I stay away from "those places" they put silver streaks in my hair ,last time I went!!!!( well thats my story, and I'me sticking to it!!LOL).
But the likes of our Daff, who can get away with and look absolutely fabulous, can frequent places like that with no fear!!

Well my Welsh Wonder Woman, alls quite here on the southern front. The front garden was slain by the son yesterday, and the field at back was demolished today, just before it came to rain!! (Oh for a cement mixer!!).
I hope you recieved the e-mail about shoes I sent you, but you appear to be having probs with your addys? so maybe not?
love as always

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 11 Jul 2009 03:57

Sorry you have yet another hospital stay to contend with Daff but hope it will be soon sorted and you will be home again and getting oks.

I am quite envious of your lovely short hair style, easy wash and go sort, as my hair has never been the kind I can wash and leave, it lies so flat and sad if I don't wash it daily and fluff it up with a dryer. Since my scalp got scorched in Liverpool, no sunhat you see, I haven't been able to catch up with my colouring so have had to go round with very grey hair, and I hate it! Hoping to get it cut a bit shorter as it seems to be growing length wise very fast, and then colour it next week by which time I think my scalp will be fully recovered. I just wish it would thicken up as quickly as it grows in length.
BC, it's always a shock if the hairdresser gets it wrong isn't it? Many years ago I went to one rather wellknown salon in Norwich for a colour, as a model so cheap as usual, but they overcompensated with the red, I already have a lot of red in my hair or used to when I was young and very dark, and I yelled out Oh my gawd, I look like Cilla Black cos I was bright red! Spent a long time there with the owner having to stay late to tone it down lol, I never went there again!

Have a good weekend, Daff, Taff, BC, and all and enjoy yourself in MK Ann.

Huia Report 11 Jul 2009 08:21

Son came up from Rotorua this morning. He showed me how to use the CD burner he gave me last Christmas so I might not be on here too often as I have loads of stuff to put onto CDs. He also showed me what some of the things are for on the photo scanning thing so will probably (almost certainly) be re-scanning some of the poor quality very old photos, trying to get a better picture. I will be having fun. I think. He did say DVDs hold more photos so I will have to buy some next time I go to town.

Huia.

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 11 Jul 2009 10:31

Morning all... a bit grizzly weather-wise (I know that's not right, but my son used to say it when he was little, and it has stuck... I like it!!)

I have one of those photo scanner thingies as well, Huia... I used it when I wasn't 100%, and now I can't find the destructions, and I am a bit reluctant to dive in... I know I had never used it on this pc, and am not sure where the discs are... *sigh* this memory thing is a bit of a problem, sometimes, isn't it?

Right, today I am going to be reasonably busy... but it is all *nice* stuff... I want to go into Homebase and get the paint for our bedroom... even though we haven't decided on a colour yet, lol Then into The Range to look at metal arches and stuff for scrapbooking... I have a lovely scrapbook and some pages, will be starting soon.... I have to empty some cupboards and drawers ready to store it all, lolol

Lol Liz... it was one hell of a way to find a style that suits me so well... although I used to wear it very short when I was younger, I didn't think it would look ok as I got older...... and I have gone grey quickly..... My hair is (was!!) very very dark, and very strong.. it used to be quite wiry, but it is beautifully soft now, I hope that doesn't change... and it is liberally streaked with silver. As it does look ok, and I feel comfortable with it... and as R volunteered the info that he liked it, and would I keep it like it... a man of few words is my R, I normally have to drag an opinion on my appearance from him... I watch out for his eyebrows, I've learnt his *Brilliant, good, bad and dreadful* twitches, lolol

I have just made an appointment for my first haircut since last August!! I was due to go the week my chemo started... I didn't remember to cancel the appointment, so feel I can't go back there!! The girl who did it moved on and someone else did my last cut... I wasn't totally happy with it, so no great loss, really.

I am waiting for someone to come and collect the last freecycle item, and then I am off to get ready to go out... sun is trying to shine, as well!!

See you all later!!

Love

Good morning Daff and all and how very selfish of me rattling on about my hair when you know you have to go into hospital again, Daff.. I am mortified!! But I wish you well and I hope you enjoy today. I have only just risen as a friend came to dinner last night and wouldn't leave until late.

I want to thank all of you who have sympathised with my hairy predicamen. I am sure I shall recover from the shock. I have covered all the mirrors...lol...

Happy Saturday everyone.

Morning Daff and Mr Daff:o)) and everyone:o))

Daff, sorry to hear you have another stay in hospital coming up, l'm sure it will be fine and you'll be out in no time:o))))
Your hair really is great as it is, it was great before too but even greater now....lol
Mines in desperate need of a good cut, have missed the last 3 appointments for some reason or another and it needs colouring again:o))

BC....l'm sure your hair is also great, from what Dadff says it could be green and you'll still be a stunner:o))

Its so muggy here, need another storm but then it does'nt really clear the air does it..
It was peeing down here in Monmouth 5 mins ago, Vic managed to mow the lawns just in time....pheww

Have a good day everyone, take care:o)

jude xxxx

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 11 Jul 2009 14:25

Jude and BC, it is just for tests... they are reasonably certain what it is, but can't start the treatment in case it is sommat more sinister, cos it could make that worse, lol... had my platelets been ok, they would have done the biopsy yesterday, but are not prepared to take the risk in case I have a massive bleed... also my BMI is high... too many risk factors, lol! They are just confirming what it is, and ruling out a cancer. They have said that I will be in for about 24 hours, just in case I need a transfusion.

It is sooooo muggy here, too, Jude.

BC, don't worry.... I love to hear all about everything, dramas, and funny stuff... it suits my personality far better that I can laugh and not take myself tooooooo seriously!! ;¬)))

Well, as per usual, we can't agree on a colour!! We have brought back a zillion colour thingies... when we have whittled it down to a few, we will buy the trial pots, and then paint areas of the wall with them to see which we like best.

The room is all creams, although I do have a black throw which I don't use cos I don't like the feel.

We have a print that we love, a vase of flowers, with gold leaf bits on it... the flowers and the leaves are very unrealistic colours, but are in jades, and pinks, purples and reds, all tones, with gold leaf scattered through... I want to pick up one of those colours on the wall behind the bed... but R says that needs to stay cream so that the print stands out... and he wants to stick with my usual *safe* creams, with the colours in the accessories. The bedroom is small, I suppose... we had to knock down the ensuite to get the superking bed in, lol!!

Oh, and we like different wallpaper.... I want the sort that looks like bark, he wants one with swirls.

Maybe if we go for my bark, and his cream, we'll both be happy... it'll cost him more, though, lol.... I'll need more new bedding!! ;¬))) And accessories, lol

Love

Daff xxxx

Jac Report 11 Jul 2009 18:47

Early evening all!!!!!

Well Daffers! what a dilemma eh? can I suggest that you go for a mix of both what you and what other half want? Dunelm have such a wide selection of bedding/curtains/pillows/bits and bobs etc you can be sure of an inexpensive but rewarding time selecting new stuff for the room!

(If this sounds like an advert for Dunelm you could be right - lol! OH firm have just won a job from them to design and build a new HQ for Dunelm - so plueeese folk - visit Dunelm every opportunity you can, otherwise I might not have the wherewithall to buy new shoes!!!) lol lol

Seriously though, I hope the forthcoming visit to the Snr.Quacks turns out OK - I'm sure it's summat minor that needs a bit of attention - bit like a small plumbing job??

I shall be thinking of you none the less and wishing you well.
After all, can't have Dunelm's bestest customer out of circulation for any time at all, can we? )))

'orrible weather here - sticky and overcast and the thunder flies are out in force (those mini little black thingys that get everywhere, and I MEAN eveywhere - even where the sun dont shine!) Hopefully some rain will wash them away. No, I'm not gonna stand outside in the nude when it does rain! I shall shower, like all reasonable folk)))))

Take thing easy Daff - take nothing to chance - just sit, and decide the colour scheme love - you know it makes sense! )))

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend - off now to freeze me gooseberries (and that is not code for anything rude!!!)

Bi for now
