You woke me up from my nap, Ann! You letting that pantomime job go to yer lungs....lol....I seldom if ever have a nap but that was 20 minutes of total bliss:-)

Hope Daff feels better today, this weather is nasty on the arthritis. I am feel very virtuous as have nearly written all my cards but, as in years before, have run out of cards.

Back later. BCXX

All right all right..... I am awake, wmsl..... dinner is all prepared... didn't sleep, although I tried very hard to... the farmer has put loads of young bullocks in the field next door(ish) and the poor little mites were crying for their mums... we have a big dairy farmer not all that far away. but there is usually a horse in that field... sometimes with a donkey, who hates being there.

Anyway, my siesta was disturbed... and of course, so was I, thinking of all those little boys crying for their mum... the girls will live, of course, but the boys... well, we won't mention yorkshire puds, ok?

We are having salmon cutlets, with roast potatoes, carrots, cauli and broccoli today, with a creamy home made dill sauce.

I am going to phone my sister in a mo, and cancel the shopping trip tomorrow... my ankles and hips just don't feel up to traipsing around, and I know she has finished her Christmas shopping, and wrapped it all, lol... so I am dragging her out just for me.....We may end up just going for lunch. I actually just want to curl under the duvet and sleep, but might feel differently tomorrow.

Right... off to strain the taters and put them into the oven... be back in a mo!!

Love

Daff xxxx

Hello everyone.
Well I have almost finished wrapping the presents, not my favourite task. I have gone a bit OTT with the gr/childrens pressies again lol. It's great watching them open them on christmas morning isn't it?
I am slowly getting in the christmas mood must sort my cds out I love carols and christmas songs.

AnninGlos Report 3 Dec 2009 20:40

Well, T did his signature dish this evening for dinner so nothing for me to do and it was scrumptious. Eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, fried bread and fried new potatoes left from yesterday, beautifully cooked. (and sooo slimming LOL!!!!)

A good decision not to go shopping Daff if you are still hurting, I don't suppose this cold damp weather is helping!

Havoc, don't we Grandparents always go OTT at christmas, that is what it is all about!

Good morning, all systems go here this morning, very frosty but hopefully it will have cleared by the time we leave as the sun is shining, it all looks very pretty. My case is packed (and closed) so no more decisions to make. Must go and have breakfast, hope you had a good nights sleep Daff and that the pain has eased.

MrDaff Report 4 Dec 2009 09:58

Morning all... not as bright a morning as it has been, but still patches of blue sky peeping around the edges of those clouds, lol.....

Dinner was lovely last night, very simple, but very very nice.... new T***o delivery man got lost, so didn't arrive until 10.15pm... I was out for the count by then, so came downstairs this morning to a kitchen full of Christmas foods, lol

Not a lot, really, for the amount of pennies..... but that is selection boxes sorted, tins of Quality street.... and all the Boxing Day pickles and biscuits... plus the alcohol... R likes a G & T occasionally... I like vodka & dry ginger.... I have got a bottle of good brandy for son for one of his prezzies... plus all the bits that go around alcohol, like wines, mixers etc.

Over the last couple of days, most of my family have phoned... it is slowly evolving into a Boxing Day at mine.... they are now all ringing each other to work out transport arrangements, I reckon it'll all fall at the first hurdle.... the ones who normally drive everyone everywhere are the very ones who would like a drink this year *sighs and rolls eyes*

It'll all come out in the wash... but they will all bring something with them foodwise, so I won't do any more than I normally do....... sounds good to me ;¬))

I am not going shopping today..... I am resting the foot up one more day... and this weekend all three of us will be wielding paintbrushes and rollers, carpet to be shampooed, then R will get all the decs down, then B and I will put them up next week ! All organised! B is looking forward to decorating the tree with me... he is 36, but hasn't helped since his early 20's..... he says that decorating the tree and Boxing Day dinner are his favourite memories of Christmas as a kid growing up. Aw Bless!

Right.... I am off to browse through e-bay... and Amazon, as B needs books for Uni....... and a Peppa Pig duvet cover and stuff.... not for B, for Littlie....

Have a wonderful weekend, Ann.

Maz, they take over, don't they? I had four of our five on the bed last night.... and the fifth was in her regular spot underneath the chair hubby uses to drape all his clothes... a cosy little den, with a radiato right behind it!

Havoc, I didn't put the cd's away last year, so don't need to dig them out.... and my Snowman DVD is beckoning to me, lolol I might watch it later on.... I shall play them all this weekend... it is my cunning ploy to get my favourite men motivated and full of the Christmas spirit, lol!

Love to you all.... and ((((((((hugs))))))))) to Mummo if you look in.

*waves goodbye to Ann as she tootles off ..have a lovely time! A gentle hug for Mummo and a fervent hope that Eddie will show a great improvement.

Just back from the park, it is such a beautiful day all chilly and blue skies, my favourite:-) I am getting ready to go out again as I have to buy Uggs for someone special..I am bamboozled with all the info on the internet so will probably buy them somewhere 'safe'..unless someone knows otherwise??

Daff, keep talking about food and what you are cooking..I just love it. All you have to say is sausage casserole and I dribble....pmsl....I really must start cooking 'properly' again but have never really been that enthusastic. My son, on the other hand, is the most amazing, inventive cook (and very good at getting mummy tiddly on slammers!).

I do hope your bones are feeling better today, Daff, and that your pain has gone. Have a nice cvetch now and then when you feel like it:-)

Tara for now....

MrDaff Report 4 Dec 2009 18:54

? Erm..... not with you, Joy!!!! Seen what????? I haven't sent the photos yet, cos I've lost Strays e-mail, lolol... I didn't send Heather the ones I have of you, Stray, baby Satan, Peggy and Marion...., so no-one cept his nibs has seen those yet, lol Goodness, it's a week ago already!

BC, it took me a second to realise you were talking Ugg boots, and not Ugg-ers, lolol I don't know much about them, except that they are supposed to be incredibly comfortable!

Tonight, food wise, it is plain, bog standard, fishfingers, chips and beans.... can't be bothered doing anything else... we had homemade oxtail soup earlier though, from the freezer, so I don't feel quite so guilty. R came home early, and has started the ball rolling... I'm not all that hungry, so may give it a miss... we have some crumpets there if I get peckish later on, lolol

B is my inventive cook, but he hasn't cooked a single meal since he came home... well, I lie, he did bacon, eggs, hash browns etc etc etc a few weeks ago for R's birthday,,,, and R junior (different name same initial) is the one who keeps my glass topped up... it usually isn't until I go to stand that I realise I can't lol.

My achey bits have been so much better today, thank you..... I was able to drop down to paracetamol for two doses, but will need the big momma's later, lol which means no sherry, or wine, or anything similar *sobs loudly* and it is Friday night as well!!

Mummo..... hope Eddie was a little better today..... gentle (((((((((hugs))))))))) anyway!!

I watched The Snowman *sighs happily* it is such a lovely story, even though the snowman gets it, in the end, lolol!! One of my nephews was traumatised by it, lol!

Must off.... see you all later.

Morning all, overcast here but fine at the moment.... Mummo, I hope the news is good at the hospital, and you are able to rest....

Daff, how are you today, it is amzing just how quickly the time and seasons go by. it doesnt seem that long ago we were all talking about our plants and gardens.. my huge hydrangea looks so funny at the moment, as we didnt have many flowers this year, all the leaves have dropped of so we just have talll single flowers never seen it like that before and we have had it for many years, but there are plenty of buds already on it.... not sure how much to prune it now....your sausage casserole sounds good, we love sausages usually with mash,so it will be a change to try it your way..off to do some more sorting out, will it never end,

Morning Daff, Mummo and Jean. Been raining through the night but it looks quite nice out there, and mild. Oxford Street is for pedestrians only this weekend which will be very pleasant and seasonal. The crowds dont bother me, I just push and glare...lol....they also usually hand out free glasses of Baileys:-))

Yes Daff the Uggs are supposed to be very cosy and very..expensive, which is why I am shopping around for them! I think I might have to take an extra suitcase with me to Ireland, what with boots and trees and such!.

And Daff you will have to tell Jean and myself the secret of the deliciious sounding sausage casserole!!

Happy Saturday to all.

MrDaff Report 5 Dec 2009 12:24

Morning all.... hurty bits much better this morning, lol... I have a huge pan of spagh bol burbling away quietly to itself.... my dad is finding it difficult to stand and cook, and he does most of the cooking... so I shall pop a couple of portions over for their freezer, also some spicy beef and spicy pork, which is in my freezer... my sister has done a couple of her curries, but they are too hot and spicy for my mum, so it'll be good for her to have some of the soups and stews that I make.. which suit her better, so lamb broth and chicken soup are also going across, lol They are already in the freezer, though, so I don't have to make those.

Sausage casserole.... my secret is to use really good sausages..... the own brand *extra special* are great, plus the butchers own specials... they add that extra oomph.... add a tin of tomatoes (chopped), chopped onion, mushroom if wanted, garlic, herbs of whatever type you fancy... I like fresh basil or sage... a little bit of chopped carrot and parsnip.... pop it into a covered casserole dish about 180 for a couple of hours while you go and play with something else... stir and add some cornflour mixed with water to thicken... carefully, lol... then put it back into the oven without the lid, with the sausages to the top so they brown off slightly. I then boil root vegetables... my favourite being parsnip and potatoes, mash them with a bit of butter and pepper (add cream and or cheese for extra oomph) and serve... I always add a green vegetable to the plate, such as peas or broccoli, cos it looks pretty!!

The casserole will also re-heat the next day, very nicely!!

I love basic food... with a bit of a twist to it!

Today we are having fish... there is some mixed shellfish left in the bottom of the freezer, some cobbler and a very small tuna steak... so I shall mix them all together... not sure whether it will be fish and potato pie, fish lasagne, or creamy fish stew. It is very quick though, and absolutely delicious... actually, I might even do a piri piri fish stew with spicy roast potatoes.. I am hungry, so all of them sound good to me!

It looks like Ann will be having lovely weather while she is off on this jolly!! I do hope it stays good for them.

Mummo, (((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) while you need them... Hopefully Eddie will begin to make tiny little bits of progress each day. xxxx

I am off to eat some brunch....... not sure what... I haven't had my breakfast yet, as I slept in til gone 10, lol.... told you the happy pills were good, lolol! ;¬))

Right.... off to do something useful, like forage for food, lolol!!
