At least they have listened to you Maz, I am sorry that you didn't get your NVQ, hopefully though you will be able to use the work you put in to your advantage. It is all knowledge for you even if you have not ended up with a piece of paper. Do you think you will be able to find a work placement?

Mazfromnorf Report 11 Nov 2009 16:26

Maz, that is such a shame, you put so much hard work into it, too... but without the support from your workplace and assessor... well, I won't say any more! Good luck for the new course... I am not familiar with that one, but it looks as though it is a similar type of course... is it more tuition based as well as placement?

I have had visitors today... so am behind with everything... mum and sister... they have just gone now.. brother phoned while they were here.... and needed to have a long conversation... he has been to the clinic today, no good news, but no bad either, ... but my mum and my sister have had a falling out with him! Who'd have families, *groans*

BC,,, don't you dare go sitting on that scanner.... I was once told that they can burn.... but I have a feeling the person who told me might have been thinking of those very old photocopiers... now they did used to get hot hot hot... her hubby used to fix them...........

I agree with Ann... it does rather sound like the Blues and Royals. My hubby had a lovely escort to the Palace by the Grenadier Guards, I must check with him... I think he was given a Quarter Guard escort, which is usually given to Very Important People... they delivered him like a fragile parcel to the life guards, lol... checked his uniform was all gleaming... he had to send his kit down the week before, and a batman got it all spic and span... me and the boys were checked over... we were escorted more informally, but we waited in the library at the barracks... you would just die to be able to look through all the books and ledgers etc kept there... accounts of all the battles, all sorts... amazing!

*sighs at the memory*

I am very envious, Jac.... Melton Mowbray is probably my favourite place... I loved my time there... we almost settled there, but no jobs for hubby at that time.... all the barracks were facing closure at the time.

*huge sigh again*

Right, I must go and have a wander around the boards... I need my fix, lolol!!

Ah the 'old' photocopiers. My OH used to buy parts for them (RX)

Huia Report 11 Nov 2009 17:49

My husband did his national service in the War Dogs Training School at Melton Mowbray. That was many many moons ago, 1949, 1950.

I also have an ex choir friend who was in the army in MM, probably even earlier. He came to NZ with his wife in about 1953.

Huia.

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 11 Nov 2009 17:58

Wow, Huia.... the place I lived was outside Melton, a place called Old Dalby... but there was a REME base there, and our *area* was used to train some of the dogs... my own two mutts were used as *distractions* for the younger dogs, lol... they had almost finished their training once they had learned to ignore my two, lol Melton is now where all the horses and dogs are trained, tri-service... so all the beautiful horses you see on trooping the colour and suchlike will have spent at least a part of their time there... they were magnificent to see... I worked just down the road from them.

Lol Ann.... no, I didn't realise that!! What a coincidence.... this was a friend in Melton!

Morning all .
well have slept and thought a lot i have gained a lot of knowledge ,the VRQ is taught so will be in contact weekly with tutors ,I was using different wokrplaces to collate evidence from which has not been ideal,
I am going to see if I can find a line manager from within the four churches that i work with .I have emailed the regional minister today .to see if anyone is a qualified youth worker nearby, this will enhance the work I already do and means it will continue as we are short of workers ,
I used to feed all the drum horses years ago when they were on summer camp just outside Aldershot , I always think about the curry lunches I have done on remembrance days over the years . I lost a lot of friends in the Falklands .

MrDaff Report 12 Nov 2009 11:35

Hiya Maz.... Remembrance day sort of brings all those faces back, doesn't it? We have lost a few good friends, too... and some so badly injured to.

Sleeping on things usually works wonders for me, too... it sounds like you have a good *game plan* to work with.... is the youth work you do in your spare time, or connected with your work at the school?

It is a bit dull and overcast here today..... I shall be going out later, but I have some form filling to complete first..... and then have to send them all off.

~~~~~~~~~~ to everyone ~~~~~~~~~
See you all later.
Just back from Cheltenham, just got in in time to beat the rain. Had a short shower in Cheltenham and thought we would get wet walking from the bus but it had not rained here. They have kindly opened a new Wetherspoons which is very near where the bus goes from which was very convenient. Already popular and where we were was taken over by what seemed a coach load of ladies from wales on a shopping trip!! Managed to buy two tops,a velvet wrap/jacket, tights and a camisole so did very well.
MrDaff Report 12 Nov 2009 15:45
Hiya Ann.... glad you got in before the rain came down... it is bucketing here.... good stay-at-home-with-a-nice-book weather.... it is so dark and heavy, too... I have had the lights on since lunch time!
Sounds like you had a good shopping day, lolol I am soooooo not going out unless it stops raining!
BC did you fix your scanner? Or are you still wrestling with it?
ButtercupFields
ButtercupFields Report 12 Nov 2009 16:23
*flops down on Ann's lap....no am still wrestling as well as trying to download SKYPE again...tsk tsk...my techie stuff is falling apart! lol and my poor Aunt Fanny will have to wait...well, to be honest, she has waited a long time:-)
Thanks for the help, Ann, but I think the driver/thingy wont download because I am using Windows 7 Beta version....am trying to get round that one....in fact I think that is the problem with Skype also.
Anyways, sounds like you had a nice day and I envy you the ability to go shopping! Would rather have my plaits pulled than go shopping. I was in Debenhams or John Lewis with the two grandchildren when P looked at me as only a little girl could and said...Grandma...why is your face all red? I couldnt be so churlish as to shout...because I hate all this shopping! lol....
Ominous looking clouds around at the moment, and dog is acting strange...must be thunder (or fireworks) in the air..
Hope you have all had a good day and big hug to Maz:-)
AnninGlos Report 12 Nov 2009 16:27
Sorry you can't fix it BC, probably it is Windows Beta 7 (whatever that is!!)
I love shopping and luckily so does T.
AnninGlos
AnninGlos Report 12 Nov 2009 16:41
ah the new operating system T says you wont be able to use the scanner because obviously HP have nor caught up with windows 7 and have not come up with a patch. The problem with new operating systems.
Blue Moon
Blue Moon Report 13 Nov 2009 08:33
Morning Daff
for old times sake....lol
Heaps of Stuff
How I wish that I was tidy
How I wish that I was neat
How I wish I was methodical
Like others down our street.
I tried to stem the rising tide
I tried to hold it back
But I have been the victim
Of a heap of stuff attack.
Yes, heaps of stuff come creeping,
They clutter up the hall.
And heaps of stuff are softly
Climbing halfway up the wall.
At each end of the staircase
Is a giant heap, a stack;
One to carry up the stairs
And one to carry back.
In a heap of stuff invasion
They settle everywhere -
They grovel on the lino
They tower on the chair.
You're searching for a jacket,
"Is it in here?" you shout,
And, opening the cupboard door,
A heap of stuff falls out.
But heaps are many-faceted
And heaps are multi-faced
And what a heap is made of
Will depend on where it's placed.
Now if it's in the passage
It is mostly boots and shoes
And if it's on the sofa
It is magazines and news.
If it's in the shed
It's broken propagating frames
And if it's in the bathroom
Well, it's best to say no names,
And if it's in the bedroom -
Your own and not the guest's -
The heap of stuff is mostly made
Of socks and shirts and vests.
For a heap is indestructible,
It's something you can't fight.
If you split it up by day
It joins back up at night.
So cunningly positioned
as from room to room you trek,
Increasing all the chances
That you trip and break your neck.
But step into my parlour
Now I've forced the door ajar;
I'll excavate an easy chair -
Just cling there where you are.
And together we'll survey it
Till our eyes they feast enough
On the tidiest home in England
Underneath the heaps of stuff.
Well, it would.
