It is probably a catch up then Maz because your accessor left.

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 10 Nov 2009 11:20

Maz, you haven't had an assessor since, have you? not one that is *your own* so to speak... and there were problems with what she/he had told you needed to be put into your portfolio.... so your feedback is essential for the EV..... the job of the External Verifier is to oversee the work of the Assessors... and the Internal Verifier at the college, as well... so my general feel is, don't worry... where there have been problems with the assessing, state so when asked..... try not to be judgemental, even though that I would find hard, because you haven't had the correct level of support, have you?

The External Verifier is there to monitor the delivery of the course... not your work... try to remember that... he/she will be asking questions of you to determine whether the college is delivering the course properly... in effect, you will be assessing the work of the college... it is almost certainly just feedback. That is not to say they won't highlight where you could add stuff to your portfolio...... but their main reason for even existing is to monitor the course, not the student..... let me know how you get on, ok?

Ann, it was lovely to chat to her... she has a couple of other children as well, and they are now quite grown up.... they were just youngsters when I knew them. But they remembered me, and wanted to have a quick chat too... one is now 16 the other 18!

It does give a warm glow that someone has thought so well of you...... from a company point of view, I wasn't the best manager, although I was good... too client orientated, they said, lol They tried to point out that the home was a business, and I was the business manager.... the company took over the home 7 months after I had been made manager, so I wasn't employed under those terms, lol... I was turning into an administrator (didn't have one, so had to do that too) and actually had no real time to spend with the residents and staff... you lose touch that way. I hated the company. I wouldn't put a guinea pig in a home of theirs, to be honest.

Well, the weather is a bit dismal today... I am going to get on with the stuff that I was going to do yesterday, lol.... I did start it.... I love zapping bank statements and stuff... very therapeutic!!... Maz, I found the photos of this house when it was 4 sticks in the ground, lol.... so I am going to scrapbook those, with all the changes we have made... When we have popped our clogs, the new owner might like to have that as a record, so I need to keep some of the stuff, don't I? ;¬)) lol

Have a wonderful day everyone, however you choose to spend it.

Love

Which reminds me of when my mother mortified me ...one of the many times....(I was only 13)...we were on a bus and my mother was laughing at something she was telling me and her teeth flew out and hit the man's neck in front of us...

I am going on a forum now to find out how to scan...hope I dont have to reinstall or defrag or summat..*frets...

Good morning Daff and All

Bit damp here this morning, unlike yesterday when the sun shone.
In the morning OH had called me out to the back garden to see a skein of geese flying South,what a thrill to see them.Was mad to not have camera nearby ,they would have made a great picture!

Glad you've found forms Daff.....did you not pray to St.Anthony tsk ;O)

I think the praise the mum gave you from nursing home was praise indeed,it's always good to feel appreciated for work well done and also satisfaction for the mum,to be able to pass her thanks onto you.

Hope you're free from the sniffles now,take care

Daff the final results are being marked now we have finished the portfolios , I had a n assessor who observed my practise once ,She gave me feed back regularly but ,she was not sure what she was doing either . the course was not a taught course .I will try to be positive ,My main gripe was all the time I have wasted on my portfolio we were set projects that were not needed ,etc it has been very much a paper excercise I will let you know tomorrow afterwards I am going straight from work

AnninGlos Report 10 Nov 2009 16:52

Good afternoon all. What a nasty damp dismal cold day it has been. I have been down your way Daff, well almost, met up with friends at Chepstow Garden centre for lunch. Had a lovely lunch of steak, ale and mushroom pie and chips followed by berry crumble, had a look round the garden centre shop, then the farm shop where we bought cheese, pate, bread and sausages. Drove back on the A48 and stopped at tauras craft shops for a coffee and a look round but didn't buy anything there. The worst bit of going there was the horrible road, the A48, so dangerous and we saw a couple of near misses, both by the same young lady driver who both times overtook in her small car on a blind bend. The second time as something came round the bend we had to break or she would not have made it. Do you think they are driving well, do they realise how close they come to having or causing an accident or are they totally oblivious?

Hope you have all had a good day and that BC has sorted out her scanner.

MrDaff Report 10 Nov 2009 17:22

Hello Ann..... the sausages are beautiful there..... I still have some in the freezer..... I never ever went into Taurus.... I always seemed to be in a rush when I passed it, lol.... I shall take a leisurely drive there, one day.

I just think it is cockiness and lack of attention.... they think they are more in control than they actually are, and of course, as long as there are more sensible drivers, who watch the road ahead carefully, so anticipate the stupid ones' well... stupidity... they continue to think that they are better than they are!!

A friend of mine had an accident a few years ago... chucking it down with rain, she had driven up to stay with us... she stopped in the dual carriageway just before the Elmbridge roundabout.... fiddled around in her glove compartment... took her foot off the brake and pressed on the accelerator... trapped her front end under the back of a lorry... and then another idiot driving too close went into the back of her... but she just wasn't paying attention... she was always tweaking the music and fiddling around... anyway... she was done for driving without due care.... and offered a driving course instead of points on her licence.

What I was amazed at, was her comment after the course (she had been driving 10 years) was that she had never thought of looking at the road ahead past the car in front of her!! So she would never have been able to anticipate and avoid an incident up ahead! I was incredulous.

Maz.... I am sure I am right, and that the EV is wanting to chat to some of you to see how you felt about the course, and the assessors. The whole idea of NVQ is that it is *on the job* assessment, in the main, and it looks like you didn't really have that. Good luck.... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

~~~~waves ~~~~~ to Joy.... it's nice and warm in here though, lolol
Mau... I couldn't remember which saint it was.... but all the others must have sent him smoke signals, lol, cos he heard, somehow.
BC..... wmsl!! My mum lost hers at the seaside once.... we did find them, but it took us ages, lolol... she was paddling in the water with whichever one of us was a baby at the time!! Did you get your scanner sorted out?
Love
BC why wont it work, have you used it before i.e. are you doing exactly the same things you were doing before? Do you use a photo editing programme such as Picasa? If so you should be able to scan from that. If you tell us the problems maybe T can advise.
Morning everyone.
Afternoon Daffers and all.
Bit bleak up here - grey, overcast and a bit nippy. Had to use the tumble dryer all morning - OH aint gonna be happy when the bill comes in!:)))
Hope everyone is well and that everyone suffering with the dreaded lurgy is well on the road to recovery.
Went to your old stomping ground yesterday Daff - Melton Mowbray, Now we have free bus passes we can hop on and off the buses whenever we feel like it, and it was Market Day at Melton yesterday.
Hadnt been for yonks, cos it was a bit run down last time I went, but crikey they have smartened themselves up and the market was cracking with some lovely fresh produce (not to mention lovely M & S shoes at bargain prices - lol)
I was very good and only bought a large Hand-raised Pork Pie from the Olde Porke Pie Shoppe! it's luverly- just had a bit for me lunch! Also on the market was a stall selling every imaginable glossy mag, you could think of, covering every topic under the sun - each one was one month old, but they were only £1.00 each What a saving if you can wait for a month?
Might go back next Tuesday, cos there seems to be a plethora of small individual shops there now, which I dont recall in the past.
Also on the Agenda for next week is a trip to Bakewell, one to Chesterfield and Downtown in Grantham - all courtesy of the new bus service recently put into operation, and all free transport courtesy of the Bus Pass. You have to use it, or you might lose it!
Actually took my friend Lynn yesterday for our "trip out" and she enjoyed herself - she might be up for Bakewell next week - fingers crossed.
Anyway, dont get doing too much anyone - it's bad for yer health!
Bi for now
ps - sorry BC cant help with the Scanner thing - I have one but havent worked out how to use the blessed thing properly - only had it about 6 years. I might just sit on it! :))))) xxxx
Hi Ann. Have never the used the scanner part before, just the printer so it is fairly new. It's a HP Photosmart 4480 all in one. I am sure there is something I should download but am not sure what. As I use a Netbook it has no dvd facility so that is a no no...tsk.....if the lovely Mr T can help I will be delighted. Have emailed son but he is probably lost in a mist somewhere or stuck in a bog....lol....BC XX
Sorry you snook in there Jac...I might even try sitting on the wretched thing...well it works for some! lol So glad you are enjoying your Bus Pass. I remember the day I got mine I was jumping on and off buses all over London! I still do the same but at a more leisurely pace:-)
Was just coming back from shopping in Edgware Road when...all of a sudden...a most wonderful sight!! In the midst of the hurly burly of cars, lorries, etc etc....along came these beautiful soldiers dressed in blue and gold with plumed hats, trotting on horses. Household Cavalry maybe? One of the many things I love about London:-) XX
BC. Go to the HP Website. Enter into the search facility the number of your Photosmart and look for the scanner driver for your operating system (Vista or whatever) to download. (He says).
He also says it maybe because it is a netbook so come back if you have no joy.
hello again
,well i did not get my NVQ my work placement was blamed for not enough experience ,but the External verifier was encouraging and took on board all i said and asked me for feed back on the course .I am going to do a VRQ next year providing I can find a placement to fit the criteria needed
but i am very miffed about the lack of support that I have had in this and it was taken on board .
