Gill they are not only taking advantage of Sandra, they are stealing from her and she should get out of there before they take all her money. Does she still have a social worker? Surely she should. If so could you not contact her. Sandra is vulnerable they should be reported to the authorities for what they are doing.
Sorry to hear you have flu, where did you catch that, myou haven’t been out have you? Hope you feel better soon.

O Gill thats not on. Is the Michael you talk about Michell's other half? She should never have handed over her bank card to anyone even if she thought they were a friend. Its just not something you do. she should get it changed incase he has kept her setails just to be on the safe side. As to the sleeping arrangements thats not on either. They can't expect her to sleep with the telly going on till the early hours and Sandra likes her lie in inthe mornings so telly back on at 9.30am is not good if she is only getting about 5 hours sleep.
I hope she soon comes to her senses and returns home to you. When will she learn?
Sending you a ((hug)).

My vaccine this afternoon. Not looking forward to it for some reason.
Nothing to report apart from that.

Good morning/afternoon Mel and all,
Another reasonable nights sleep, but have these horrible crawling feelings this morning. I keep having to go and stand outside and gulp cold air, to get them to go away. But within half an hour they are back. Cheesed off, to say the least.
Nothing happening here either Mel. So hope you are all well. xxxx

Afternoon all,
Lovely morning here with plenty of sunshine ,done two lots of washing ,hovered round and just had some lunch.
Mel I'm sure you'll be fine with your jab ,you'll be in and out in no time .
Frank did you get your heating sorted yesterday . Did you get yourself worked up about it and it's brought the attacks on ,try and do the tapping and counting to calm yourself .
Hope your feeling a little better today Gill ,where ever did you pick the flu up from . Sounds as if Sandra needs to get away from her so called friend ,some friend taking advantage of her like that ,as AnnG said she needs to get a new card so they can't spend any more of her money .

Good afternoon, I thought I had been on here this morning but obviously not. It was a lovely sunny morning here but has come over really dark now. Had our garage man out this morning to help us charge up Tony's car as we couldn't get into it. He managed to get round to the front of the car with the charger but it was a struggle. He will be back later to collect the charger and check the car is ok. My car also has a flat battery so hopefully he will help us charge up that one too.

Afternoon All,
Bright and sunny here now but it looks like all change by Sunday! OH got a call last night for his jab at the racecourse same as where I went. His is Tuesday afternoon. It will be over very quickly Mel and I hardly felt a thing. :-) I love that hat pattern too! It's different isn't it!
Oh Gill, poor you with the flu. I hope you soon feel better and that your OH hasn't brought it home with him. I did worry about Sandra fending on her own with not being worldly wise and these so called friends are doing just what you say and taking advantage. She needs to come home NOW as they are just out to get money off her and won't stop. It sounds like the man doesn't have a job if he is watching TV all that time. It's disgusting how some will take advantage of the vulnerable. She needs to get her card cancelled too like the others say. If they have her card number and expiry date, they can use those online to buy things for themselves without her even knowing till she gets a statement and they could just say she bought things for them as gifts. Yes I thought she had a social worker too who was finding her somewhere suitable?
AnnG you will just have to do what feels best at the time about going back with your daughter for a while. It might help, but might be harder to go home after. At least you have already adjusted somewhat to an empty house the last 7 months. Your head must be buzzing trying to think of things you may have forgotten, but each thing dealt with is something less. It was a shame the Lexus didn't start, but it's good you have someone to take it off your hands and sell it. Sometimes it's best to get a lower price and remove the hassle involved!
Vera, OH is far too quick and sharp witted for me at times, but it's impossible to keep a straight face with what he comes out with and it's what attracted me to him and the fact that he was always smiling. It's a shame funerals have to be so short now and I hadn't thought about people travelling a good distance to them not being able to chat much afterwards. The soup sounds like a good idea, but might be awkward to serve keeping distanced. I would bring my own food and drink I think.
Mandy that's a bit worrying so many have tested positive after having their jabs at that home. I suppose the good thing is that the symptoms have been mild. They must have picked the virus up well after their jabs took effect as they would have been tested regularly in a home. No OH didn't find a date!! lol.
Frank those crawling feelings can be due to anxiety so do like Mandy says and keep up the breathing exercises too. You have been getting yourself worked up about memories of your dad recently and that will make these things more likely to happen.
Better get ready for this week's zoom with my pals now. OH is cock-a-hoop as I did him bangers and mash with onion gravy and veg for lunch today! lol. :-D

Ann do you get your sausages from Asda? We have tried two kinds of their sausages and don't much like either of them. I had the extra special ones last time and they are hard and pretty fat free. The birds like them though.
No it did'nt hurt and I did'nt have to wait the quarter of an hour as oh was with me and he drove home. The nurse came out and said it was ok as someone else was driving. I had it in my right arm and not in the one I hurt at Christmas time but the only thing is I sleep on that arm and I don't turn over int he night until I wake inthe mornings.
Mut pop round and do the girls and then a nice COC I think and a hot cross bun.

I meant to say I had'nt taken my phone with me and niether had oh and when he went to start the car it would'nt start. Not sure what we were going to do and oh said it was'nt the battery but thought it may have been the deisel pump. I had visions of us walking home and oh would'nt have made it as its at least 2 miles along narrow very muddy country lanes. He kept trying and finerly it went so that was good. I really don't think my car likes him.

I will get low fat sausages if I can Mel and they were from Asda. OH has most of them as I rarely have sausage, as the curatives in cured meats have been linked to bowel cancer. OH seemed to enjoy them.and is having what's left on a sandwich tonight! What a nuisance your car not starting after it got you there ok! It was lucky your OH managed to get it going with not having your mobiles with you. It's good it is done now though and were there many people there having their jabs? . Your Hot Cross Bun sounds nice!

Glad the jab went well Mel. What a good job your car eventually started. I’m surprised they didn’t make you wait 15 minutes even with someone else driving. Our surgery was certainly making people wait at least 15 minutes even if they had a driver with them.
I hope you are feeling less shaky now Frank. As the others say you have probably been getting in a tizzy thinking of your Dad and then the heating going off wouldn’t have helped. Have you got it working again now? It’s not the weather to be without heating.
Only you can decide whether to go back with your daughter after the funeral AnnG. Trust your instinct and do what is right for you but you might find it less hard to stay in your own home for a week or two, and then pay a visit to your daughter later. Just do what you feel most comfortable with.
Ann, my pen does still write, much to my surprise. Dad’s sister had MS and he always bought a few bits from their catalogue. My pen was one of his little gifts from there and I think it was a good quality biro. It’s a slim pen with a pretty pattern on the shaft (is that the word?). The pattern is now worn away after much handling. I think he must have bought it around 2002 as during 2003 his dementia worsened and by February 2004 my brother had given up work to become Dad’s full-time carer (he had physical disabilities as well), so to still be writing after 18 years or more is not bad going. Re: the soup I was thinking of doing for son and dil, I was thinking of putting a flask of soup, a couple of mugs and maybe spoons and perhaps a couple of rolls in a bag that I can put down in the car park and son can pick up and put in his car. We can do that distanced and everything can go home with him so I won’t have to worry about serving it. Everyone else attending the funeral lives within a 2 hour drive or less. My biggest worry now is the weather – it’s not looking good for Monday.
That was nice of your son to organize a meat delivery for you Mandy and you seem to have plenty there. I took some mince out of the freezer this morning but I was undecided what to do with so OH said he would make a shepherd’s pie. I can’t recall him ever doing one before but it’s a fairly simple dish so I don’t think he can ruin it. He’s actually not a bad cook but his timing can be a bit iffy and the various parts of the meal aren’t always ready at the same time. He also always underestimates how long it takes to prepare and cook a meal so we always end up eating later than planned.
How on earth did you manage to pick up a flu bug Gill? You don’t go out anywhere do you, or have you been out on the razzle without telling us, lol? Getting flu is really bad luck and I hope you are feeling much better now. I don’t suppose worrying about Sandra is helping you much. What sort of people act like that? They certainly can’t be called friends and the sooner she is away from them the better. As the others have said she must get her bank card cancelled and get a new one. Would someone help her in dealing with the bank, Michelle or Michael perhaps? Or could her social worker help her? She’s had a taste of independence now and doesn’t want to be tied to Mum and Dad but until the social workers can get her an assisted living place she really does need to be home with you.
I have just been having a quiet swear while trying to sort out my Sainsbury order for delivery on Sunday. Apparently they have been making changes to the site and it’s a nightmare. I had the log-in page bookmarked but I couldn’t get in through that. When I eventually got in everytime I added something to my basket it sent me back to log-in. Five times I logged in before it fully accepted me and then everything was so slow it was driving me mad. I hope I have sorted it and the right stuff is going to turn up on Sunday but I was not happy.
There were a couple of other things I was going to say but this is getting a bit long again so I’ll leave them to another time.

I want to know what else you were going to say Vera please.
Think I better get some of the chicken strips out of the freezer and make a curry for tonight as I can't think of anything else that is quick to do.
Ann have you tried the Asda frozen chicken breast strips as you can cook them from frozen? Sometimes we have them with roasted veg.

OK Mel. I was going to tell you that we now have our first real social engagement for ages on the calendar. I’ve got used to deliveries or trips to the tip being major highlights but we have just been told to book the date for the wedding of our grandson and his fiancée. It’s not till next February but they have let us know the date good and early so we have something special to look forward to.
Something strange came in the post today addressed to me. It was a letter from the DVLA with a cheque. It was a refund of car tax for car registration number E.........., which I had either sold or scrapped or declared to be off the road and not used. Great. But I have never technically owned a car, ours have always been registered in OH’s name, we haven’t recently sold, scrapped or taken a car off the road and the registration number bears no relation to any car we have ever had. Can I keep the cheque please :-)?

Vera that is odd, strange that it came to your correct address, you wonder how they managed that. I suppose you should send it back. I would be inclined to ask for an explanation.

Yes, AnnG, of course I will send the cheque back and I’ll certainly ask for an explanation but I doubt if I will get one. It is odd. My name and address on the letter are correct and the cheque is made out to me.
Thank you Elizabeth. I hope you have a happy and peaceful weekend.
Sleep well everyone.

Just popping in after reading Veras post re the mystery cheque and Anns comment. My gut feeling tells me to not send it back or make any contact or acknowledgement. They can't nick you for not cashing it in. Something in the back of my mind tells me it is a scam. I'll have a think about it.
