That’s annoying Frank. I’m not surprised you’re angry. I hope your half sovereigns arrive back quickly.
I laughed at your s.ms ladies. I seem to be having more and more of them lately. A couple of days ago I put a new carton of juice in the fridge except it wasn’t there when I wanted it. I checked the freezer, various cupboards, even the bin but couldn’t find it anywhere. I found it when OH walked in and said “why is there a carton of orange juice in the dishwasher?”. :-S

Ha ha ha ha ha ha Vera that made me laugh so I am not the only one who does these silly things.
A couple of weeks ago I took some pitta bread pockets out of the freezer as they had been in there a long while and I knew they would'nt have been any good to eat so thought I would give them to the birds. I threw them in the washing tub in the uti room. This was before Christmas. I found them last week still in the laundry dumpy tub and they had,nt got a bit of mould on them so the birds got them in the end.
Still no Gill hope she's ok. Sending love. <3

Good morning all, nice and bright here and 3 degrees. Another full day, the list seems to get longer rather than shorter. At elast we have the death certs now anyway. waiting for instructions from Tony's company pension people as to where to send things, daughter has already contacted them.
Vera that made us all laugh, I did find myself on the way to the dishwasher a week or so ago to put something, butter I think, destine for the fridge away. But I didn't quite get to the point of putting it in there.

Morning Anng and all,
Much duller here today after yestersdays bright sunshine but we never seem to have two days the same so its back to drear. We get plenty of those days though that are grey and dull and wet.
Good you received the death certs quickly. As to the number of death certs you need I think we had about 5 for mum.
Hope those who don't sleep well had enough last night to keep you going and out of mischief. I wonder what silly things we will do today?
When I dished up the chillil last night I usually have enough for two dinners so freeze half. I was dishing and thinking its not going very far tonight. Did'nt realise until I was sat down eating that I had'nt put the kidney beans in it. Oh loves the beans best but I enjoyed it without them and he ate it all so two clean plates followed by trifle.

Morning Ann, Mel and all A misty start here.
Chilli beans without the beans Mel? :-0
My 'best' s.m. was long before they were due! I had a bloods appointment at the hospital which was a twenty minute walk away. It was a pleasant morning so off I strode. When I was just over halfway it occurred to me that my feet felt a little too relaxed........ I looked down and, to my horror, I was wearing my slippers! :-0 The stuff of bad dreams! It was too late to go back home and change so there I was, sat in the busy bloods dept, tucking my feet as far under the chair as possible thinking they (and the large dribble of pink paint on them btw) had flashing arrows pointing to them. I didn't get any comments or odd looks and to be fair, although they were slippers, at a stretch could have been worn as casual summer mules - but I knew they were my slippers! It's a good job I didn't have a liking for those check ones with fluffy bobbles! :-D
Have a good day all x

Good morning to you all, NOT A GOOD ONE FOR US. We woke up to a cold bungalow. The Heating has packed up. At the moment we have a two bar Electric fire, the gassier in the fireplace, and an electric fan blowing in theDining room end. Still not berry warm.
I have rung our usual plumber but he is out. I rang Jonathan who came and turned on the gas fire, as we have never used it. When he left he called at our usual plumbers house. His daughter has messaged him, that we need him ASAP. I have also rung another plumber, who said he would ring me, when he has time to call later today. So at least I will have a plumber before the day is out.
Another IFFY night sleep, I was in bed by 9.00 pm and still awake when Ros disturbed me at 12.00 midnight. I dropped off and was awake around 4.00 am. What with dozing and waking, I didn't get up until 9.45. With everyone happening, I wish I had stayed in bed.
No thoughts yet, to what to have for dinner tonight. So it might well end up with a takeaway, unless Ros decides otherwise.
I hope everything isallright with Gill and Family, and that all of you are safe and well. xxxxx

O dear Frank not good to have no heating on the coldest month of the year. Hope you can get sorted quickly but at least you have the leccy fire and fan heater and the gas fire now.
Island I did much the same as you once . Went bell ringing and looked down at my feet whilst just getting out of the car and I had one shoe on and one slipper. Oh had rushed me to get out on time. I was lucky in that the church was only 2 miles away from home so he went in the church and I came home to put my other shoe on and then go back to ringing. Needless to say he had told all the other ringers what I had done!!!! That was in younger days too.
Have had the black caps on the bird table this morning and Robby, or one of them, came and took worms off my hand this morning as you can imagine I was delighted. We had a hard frost this morning so perhaps he was desperate. Now I need to fill all the feeders up for them as they are eating me out of house and home.

Morning AnnG, Mel and all
It’s another dreary, damp sort of day, though it is about 9 degs out there so not too cold.
I had a better night thank you Mel. Chilli without the beans? Oh dear, was that another s.m.? It sounds as though you both enjoyed it anyway.
My dearly beloved and I have just had a surreal conversation in which he was talking about eggs, and I was talking about carrots and cabbage. He swore blind he said eggs, I am convinced he said veg but we both ended up wondering why the other one wanted chips and baked beans with carrots and cabbage :-S. Lockdown is definitely getting to us.
I’ve had a nice FaceTime chat with my son this morning which always cheers me up. There has been a lot of snow in Yorkshire with possibly more to come and I have told him that he is not to risk the long drive to and from the funeral on Monday if the weather is bad. I also got to speak to two of my granddaughters as well which was lovely.
I spent all yesterday afternoon on and off the phone and emails sorting out the eulogy for the funeral. My brother’s partner has written it with a lot of input from me and snippets from letters sent by friends and family, but neither his partner nor I feel we’ll be able to read it without breaking down so the celebrant is reading it for us.
I hope all your arrangements are going smoothly AnnG
We haven’t heard from Gill for a few days. I hope she is OK and that Sandra has settled down a bit more now.
I started this ages ago but got interrupted by 3 different phone calls. 2 were very quick but the third one was a friend who lives alone and so likes to have a nice long chat. I’d better get this posted before the phone rings again.
Edit: I see you’ve all been busy posting while I’ve been on the phone. Hope you get your heating fixed today Frank. :-D :-D :-D Island and Mel. I’ll tell you another slipper story some time

Afternoon All,
I wrote a post yesterday but somehow I closed GR before I posted! The old phrase 'silly sausage' we used at school seems to apply!
A dull day here and now we have steady drizzle!
Mel your OH is beginning to sound like G as you say. One of his purlers I never forget is when he was bending and staring at me in the shower and when I asked what he was looking at he replied 'the best before sticker!'. It's reassuring to hear these SMs affect us all. I had to smile at your slipper episode Island as I had a similar one years ago when I went to work in a navy shoe and a black one, both with bows but one with a higher heel than the other! I can identify with trying to hide your feet, or in my case, tucking one under the seat I sat in out of sight! It seems Mel has had shoe malfunctions too! How nice Robby came on your hand today. Lovely!
AnnG you are doing well wading through your 'to do' list with your daughter. I wondered if you were Benendon members being ex civil service, another to notify and stop paying if so. Also the car breakdown people and NT if you are members. As you say though, your daughter will have these things in hand. The sooner the extra payments are stopped though the better.
That was good your son ordering you a nice fresh meat delivery Mandy. I do miss the meat from our farm shop and may order click and collect from them once my vaccine has had a few weeks to be fully protective! I hope your large pastry cutter has turned up. I can't find a coarse grater with a box that I'm sure I have somewhere.
That's a nuisance your heating going off Frank. I hope you can get a plumber to come today.
That was nice you found the pen that was your dad's last gift to you Vera. Does it still write? It was nice you got to chat to your son and grand daughters today too as you seem to be needing cheering up. How is the foot progressing now? We seem to have have those kinds of conversations like you had with your OH too. We either say a wrong word or don't quite hear properly, but neither of us can be adamant about what we have said anymore as we can never be sure!! :-D
Back to some painting now and looking at new computers! I just looked at what life to expect from a laptop and mine is well into it's dotage!. The washer is on but OH will deal with the washing when it's done. He is sorting out for his meeting tonight at the moment.

Very wet here now. One thing went wrongish that threw us today. The Lexus wouldn't open let alone start and Lyn was nervous about using the emergency key in case the alarm went off and wouldn't stop. Our man at the garage is going to help with the car selling it to trade (yes we lose money but get shot of the car and don't have to have people coming to the house. Anyway I have emailed him to come and start the car when they have time.
Vera getting there with the service. Although hardly a lot to find to fill the time as the slot we get is 20 minutes, for that we pay almost £1000. Apparently the iother ten minutes is for deep cleaning. awful that people are travelling so far for 20 minutes.
Ann I did belong to Benenden but I cancelled it a year ago. I do belong to simply health though and you have reminded me of that so will have to sort that.
Car breakdown is under car insurance with LV so that is sorted. NT is due in July so I will let them know soon.
I am trying to make up my mind whether to go back with daughter after the funeral and after we have done all we can here. I think I probably will but I have a week to decide.

Been doing a bit of clay this afternoon just some beads I want to make to put on some string oon something else if it works out.
Think it will be southern fried chicken and chips tonight with maybe some baked beans.

The "best before sticker" did make me laugh. Your OH is quite a wit isn't he Ann.
AnnG, I believe the services are being booked 40 minutes apart and we get 25 minutes service and my son and dil are undertaking a nine hour round trip but he is insistent that he wants to come, which I am pleased about but am still concerned. The awful thing is, with no wake, we can't even feed them. I am thinking about taking a flask of soup for them to have in their car after the service and before they start back home.
Oh heck, another phone call. Must go

Just to let you all know I've got flu, I'm slowly getting over it but have felt very tired this afternoon, so I think an early night is called for.
Sandra is being taken advantage of at her friend's place, they keep asking her to buy things for them even though she's giving them money for food each week. They even asked her to buy their friend a new mobile phone, luckily when she realised it was going to cost £200 she said she couldn't afford it. She's told Michael who text me to say he was going to have a word with them later, so I'm just waiting to see what happens next.
They even conned her into paying for a Macdonald's meal for them and their friend and for herself, but the way they said it she thought it was just for her. Her friend's husband said he'd pay for it on his phone so she handed her bank card over to him and only realised how much he'd spent and that it was for everyone when she got a text on her phone saying it was over £40 she said she only had a burger, fries and a drink, the rest of them had loads of stuff, all at her expense. OH and I are now worried her friend's husband has her card details and might use it for himself without asking Sandra first. It's all very worrying.
She doesn't like to say anything to them but told me she wasn't very happy about it. Apparently they don't have a spare bedroom for her to sleep in so she's on a mattress on the living room floor, but her friend's husband has the TV on until 4am and then gets up early and puts the TV on again around 9.30am in the morning so she's not getting much sleep, they don't seem to be giving her any food either so she's having to buy her own food, she told me she felt sick through lack of sleep the other day.
All in all I don't think she's very happy there and goes out walking around all day so she's not in their way. I've got a feeling it won't be long before she's back with us, if Michael can't sort it out for her.

Oh dear Gill they are taking advantage of her she would be better off coming back home before they empty her bank account ,she shouldn't have handed her bank card over . Hope you soon feel better Gill .
I've just read that we have a local care home where 58 of the residents and staff have tested positive for covid and they all had their jabs just before Christmas, they all have mild symptoms.
