Morning Anng Vera and all,

We have a brightish morning here today and its 10.5 degrees at the moment.

Good you had a better night and have a little outing today to have your hair cut you'll feel like a new woman after it.

Vera enjoy your outing to the tip. The kind of things we look forward to now have changed hav'nt they.

I have mole Valley coming today with chickens food and a few other bits so thats a different face I shall see today.

I had that heart beating in my ears when I went to bed last night and it took me a while to drop off. Got up twice in the night for the loo too so thats once more than normal.

Where's Frank I need to know he is ok?

Island too. I bet she's busy with the new toy.

Island

Island Report 11 Dec 2020 10:57

Morning all

I sleep like a log these days, unlike earlier in the year which was awful. I have weird dreams though then really struggle to fully wake up.

Our tempo has crept up to 4 deg after being on zero for about a week - I thought the thingybob had stuck.

Gosh Vera, you know how to live it up :-D It's true though how the mundane has become highlights. I had a hospital phone consultation the other day (good result) and an eye appointment to look forward to in June. Whoop whoop!

Thinking of you and OH AnnG and hoping for some good news.

Stitching again today.

I hope you all have a good day.

Ha ha Mel! I was typing at the same time. Must be telepathic. :-D

and yes - I was busy with the new toy. Loving it :-D

Annx Report 11 Dec 2020 12:05

Morning All,

It's very wet and gloomy outside today but warmer. I slept right through to 9.00am this morning which is unusual for me, but I feel better for it.

OH has written his cards this morning and gone up the close to the post box to post them. We are having a breakfast for lunch today so I'd better keep an eye on the bacon!

Whoopee do Vera! Off to the tip with your OH.....he knows how to treat a girl doesn't he! lol. As Island says, the mundane has become a treat for us now and a change of scene is nice.

It's nice to get your hair done AnnG and a chance for a chat and see other people too.

I have a zoom meeting with my bead buddies this afternoon and have some more research meetings coming up shortly. Later I am getting updated with Windows 10 so I hope it will be easy to find what I need afterwards.

It's good you had a good result with your phone appointment Island and have an eye appointment too. I bet you are enjoying your new toy too, it looked very interesting what you could do with it.

I noticed last night that Barbara Windsor had died. Such a shame, but at least she is at peace now. With Alzheimers it is hard to tell, but it must be frightening when you don't recognise anyone. I always think of her in the Carry on films and that pinging off of the bikini, saucy innocent fun!

Frank

Frank Report 11 Dec 2020 13:33

I'm here Mel, just a little late today.

When we left the Cemetery yesterday, we called into our local Honda Dealer, so that Ros could show me the car that Lewis has bought. While there we looked at the JAZZ 5 door Automatic. Eos had already driven one, when she went with Lewis.

As our old Mercedes A Class is 17 years old, and the "ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT" is showing on the dash. We thought it might be time for a CHANGE.So we have ordered a new car on the MOBILITY SCHEME. They are taking our old car towards the up front payment, just leaving a small amount to pay, when Ros takes delivery (We think Next FRIDAY) in time for her to get use to it, before driving to Devon on the 21st Dec. and back on the 24th. It's a THREE YEAR SCHEME, and takes part of her allowance. So now we will have THREE YEARS TROUBLE FREE MOTORING. She can re-new it, then if she wants too.

Still not feeling 100% with my arm still aching. I haven't eaten yet today, as I am not hungry. I have prepared Mince beef in grave, with Mash, Parsnips, carrots and fresh cabbage for tonight.

Stay safe, dear friends, I will see you later. xxxx

SuffolkVera Report 11 Dec 2020 21:23

It’s good to see you with us again Elizabeth. Have a lovely weekend yourself and stay safe.

It’s annoying that your delivery didn’t turn up Mel. I think all the delivery services are inundated this year with so many more people shopping online. I’ve managed to get all my deliveries fairly promptly and have nothing outstanding now.

How lovely to have a new car to look forward to Frank. I am very jealous. I’d like to change our car for something a bit smaller but OH has decided that it will “see us out” and I don’t think we’d get much money for a 12 year old diesel if we tried to sell it. I must admit I don’t drive much now and who knows how long OH will be able to carry on driving. I feel very safe and comfortable with him at the moment but we’re not getting any younger.

I quite enjoyed the trip to the tip today. It made a change looking at waste containers instead of the inside of our house ;-). My OH sure knows how to show a girl a good time. There is talk of keeping the appointment system for the tip even when normal life resumes and I hope they do as it makes life so much easier. Our tip is in such an awkward place on a narrow country road that joining a queue of cars to get in is a nightmare. We have 3 friends living on that side of town so we drove round to their houses as well and I was able to pop cards and notes through their doors.

My dozy son rang today and was telling me that he had miscalculated the days and found he and the family would be driving back to their home on 28th Dec. He won’t risk a fine or being in trouble so he has had to do some rearranging of his plans so that they drive back on 27th. He is still calling in to us on his way home and may have all 3 girls with him which will be lovely as we haven’t seen them for so long. He did say that they would visit us in the safest way possible.

He said that his middle daughter, who is the one spending her gap year working in a care home, is doing the night shift on Christmas Day. That’s hard when you’re only 18 and want to be at home with your family. All the residents have dementia in varying degrees and several can’t really distinguish day from night so are inclined to wander about and need lots of attention during the night as well. I’m very proud of her for sticking at it.

It’s quite misty out at the moment and it’s supposed to get really foggy here during the night but shouldn’t be quite as cold tonight as it has been. I hope you all sleep well. “See” you all tomorrow. Night, night.

Annx

Annx Report 11 Dec 2020 21:51

Hope you have a good weekend too EOS.

I was the only one in our hairdresser's the last 2 times AnnG. They ask you to fill a form in when you make an appointment (on line) and ask if you are aged over 70 so they can take extra precautions. Not sure if I will be the only one next week though as more may be booked in ready for Christmas.

Frank do you think a mobility scooter would fit in the new Jazz ok? I bet Ros will be thrilled to get a new car with no road tax, insurance or maintenance to pay for, just the fuel to find! I hope your bruises are a bit better tomorrow and that you managed to have some dinner.

Vera well done your grand daughter doing the night shift at the home on Christmas Day at only 18. I'm sure you are all proud of her as I would be too. The home must be very pleased to have such a helpful youngster.

Off to bed now.

AnninGlos Report 12 Dec 2020 06:59

Good morning all, woke early so decided to have a look on here. Will go back to bed with a cup of tea in a minute.

Vera,Our lovely comfortable Lexus is now stuck in the garage, it is automatic and too big for me to drive and I have never driven auto. It started first time when daughter was here so that is something, it is not new, can't remember how old it is as it has special plates but it is not worth much even though in excellent condition. very sad not to be able to drive it. OH's pride and joy, he said it was the best car we've had and drove it last about 5 November (he then went in to hospital the first time on 7th). Never thought then that it would be the last time her drove a car.
Glad you enjoyed your outing to the tip.

Annx Our hairdressers had four of us in yesterday, it is quite big and all very well spaced nobody but Tracey was near me and she had mask and visor on, she is very careful (she is the owner) and sanatizes everything. doesn't even hang coats up for us they have to be on the back of our chair.

Morning early bird Anng and all,

Gosh you were up early Anng. Another Saturday and I have to go up the shop for the paper and some bits and drop off Em's eggs. she should have some shopping fo rme too as its things I can't get at Asda. She has Tesco every fortnight.

We've had a bit of blue sky this morning but now its clouded over. Not so cold though 6 degrees here.

Frank Report 12 Dec 2020 11:23

Good morning to all my lovely LADIES,

Ros has had TWO NASTY TURNS this morning, so hasn't gone out with Martine. She has had some cereal, and is sitting quietly on the sofa, watching James Martin.

I did a silly thing yesterday. I picked my small toe nail, and it ALL CAME OFF. so is very sore. Every time I turned over in bed I caught it on the sheet. I now have a pad of cotton wool over it, with my sock keeping it in place. I don't know how long it will take for the new nail to grow. Any idea girls. ???

We have plenty of Veg in the fridge, and meat in the freezer. So no problem for Sunday lunch tomorrow. tonight will be a takeaway. (DELIVERED)

I trust Hannah is O.K. If you hear anything, please let me know.
\
I am expecting delivery of the new shower, sometime today (Harvey said) So hope the delivery chap can carry it through to the conservatory, as I am sure it will to heavy for me to move. Harvey wants me to ring him when it arrived, and he will try to get up and fit it, either this afternoon or tomorrow.

I trust you are all well, and are taking care of yourselves against this COVID. Speak again soon. xxxx

Morning all,

Dull and dreary here but not so cold .

There'll be no holding Ros when she gets the new car Frank she will be filling the boot with shopping spending all your money LOL as Ann said have you checked you could get the scouter in if you get one ,hope your bruising and soreness is easing now .
How are the panic attacks now ? you have mentioned them lately so I hope they are easing too.

Vera you are so easily pleased :-D who would have thought a trip to the tip could get you so excited :-D but when we can't go out far it's a nice change to see the outside world again even if it is the tip .

I'm having a praticse with the Christmas roasties ,Jamie Oliver par boiled his spuds and parsnips and put the goose fat or oil which ever you use over the spuds in the tin and left them over night in the tin in a cool place ready to go in the oven the next day so I'm going to have a try and see what they come out like ,as I do so many spuds with all the family it might save time on the day .
I did par boil and freeze some one year and they were OK but took a little longer to cook .

AnnG I hope you hear good news from the hospital and that T is comfortable .
I suppose at the moment all your Christmas plans are out the window as you don't know what's happening .

Well better get these spuds peeled they won't do themselves .
