Evening all,

Another foggy day no frost though and we did see a little sun this afternoon .

AnnG fancy them asking where T had caught Covid but as Ann said they probably have a sheet of questions they have to go through ,well done your daughter for not blowing her top i think i would have done .
Have you got one of those Grabs as they some times have a magnet on the end ,hope you can find the part so it can be mended .

Ann you can check the door seals on your freezer by trapping a piece of paper in the door and if you can pull the paper out when the doors shut then the seals are going , you can use some of the thin draught excluder foam on the seals if you know where the weakness is .

Shopping day for us today so i've been wiping down again .
We are hoping to go to the tip some time as we still have three tubs of garden bits ,they were open during lock down but we didn't think it was an essential journey so it was left .

I had to smile just now they showed Boris on the news going off to Brussels and i said to Colin he has the red box with him and Colin said he's got his jim jams in there :-D

Thank you Mandy. Those are good ideas about the freezer door. It's a nice feeling getting rid of rubbish, but with being in tier 3 I expect our tip is closed. The city has been in some kind of restriction since March!

I was reading about another huge development near us tonight. In addition to the 4,500 houses they are building at the end of our village, just 3 miles away they propose to build a new village of 6000 houses and new motorway services on the M1. The roads will never cope!

Cleaned the big girls out this morning as it was'nt windy and was quite warm out there. Then did lunch and this afternoon I made a nice meat pie for dinner. It went down a treat with sprouts and roasties. I always put carrot and onion in the pie filling too.

Ordered more chicken food this afternoon too and some bird food and a little soemthing for oh but no free delivery this time as their head office said they were doing too many free deliveries which are usually £25 !!!!! but I was only charged £5.

Annf I was going to say try a magnet but see others have had that idea too. Why on earth they asked T if he had been in Liverpool I have no notion but I wonder if someone else in his ward had been in Liverpool and thats where it came from. Mandy's idea of one of those grabber things in good as mine has a magnet on the end.

Feel really tired tonight so am going to sign out now so see you all in the morning.

Mel, I wonder if the Liverpool question is a general one as they had the big test everybody scheme in Liverpool I think (Gill might know), and maybe they are trying to check a pattern. No problem with that if it helps trace contacts. However we were amazed that when the initial notification goes in there is nothing to say it was hospital caught! Which it should be.

AnnX these large building proposals are becoming the norm, there has been one in the pipeline for about 10 miles away from here adjacent to J9 of the M5 for ages. Not sure if it has been started yet. I have learnt from T's experience not to worry about anything happening more than about 6 months away as who knows what our circumstances will be then. :-S

Morning Anng and all,

Warmer here this morning but still cold and grey sky . Temps reading 9 degrees outside so it must be warmer.

I keep forgetting what day it is and have to look on the pc for assurance its the day I think it is if that makes sense. I don't trust my pill pots as I may have forgotten to take them the day before.

Hope you all managed some good shut eye last night.

If I can get hold of them I may cut the bantams claws today. They hate it but they do get so long they have a job going up the ladder to get to the bedroom bit and its worse when they come down. Dear old girls never complain but you can see them struggle and it must be done at sometime. Just as well I only have two left now out of the 12 as it took forever to find and cut all their claws.

I do hope Elizabeth (EOS) is ok as we still hav'nt heard from her and it will be a week tomorrow as she usually posts on a Friday. Sending blessings Elizabeth. <3

So easy to forget the day isn't it Mel? When they are all the same. I am hoping I will remember that I have a hair appointment tomorrow.

Just spent half an hour in the garden. Looked for the metal bit that sheered off the wind thing but no luck, used grabber, magnets, hand cleared leaves but as it probably came off in the wind at speed it could be anywhere. Think I will have to leave it until spring now and see if it re-appears then. Also cleared the rest of the leaves from the lawn and got things into the shed that were 'pending' by the door. Finally cut beck some out of control lemon balm. Still a bit to do down there but didn't want to do too much, I can feel it in my back now as it is.

Grey cloud and damp here again. It’s not actually raining but the paths and plants are wet. It’s about 5 degrees and supposed to remain about that right through the day and night. It would be lovely to see a bit of blue sky and sun even if it were colder.

I’ve spent the morning doing all sorts of fiddly little jobs that I keep putting off. I’ve just got to sew up the hem of a pair of trousers, then I’m done.

AnnG, have you seen the report that more than 10,000 people have picked up Covid while in hospital? Isn’t that dreadful? I suppose part of the problem is that someone can have it without any symptoms so could unknowingly transmit it to others. I hope T manages to avoid most of the symptoms. Have you heard how he is today?

Afternoon All,

I slept well last night despite having a delivery today, which would normally keep me awake. We had poached eggs on toast then OH had a migraine and had to have tablets and lie down for half an hour. The delivery men rang to say they would be 15 minutes before the earliest time and they had the freezer unpacked, in position and were on their way again in less than 10 minutes, wishing us a Merry Christmas as they went! Both were wearing masks and were very careful. I wiped down where they may have touched, but we don't need the freezer yet, so will leave it fto decontaminate for 3 days. The daft thing is, now the old freezer has been turned and opens into the walkway, the new freezer just takes up the space where the door on the old one opened so it's better altogether.

Today is the 56th anniversary of me passing my driving test! I can remember the excitement of being able to drive dad's little blue Austin A35 van to work in the city! In the mid 60s not many women drove and if they did, the man usually took the wheel if they were both in the car. I can remember being stared at in a disapproving way by older men! Also being stopped by police and my age being asked!! Dad was convinced I must have been breaking the law when I had to take my licence to a police station to prove my age. :-S

Mel good luck with catching the Bantams and cutting their claws! Once they get wind of something going on, they will be legging it as fast as they can. It's a pity you can't stick rough sandpaper under their perches like I did with my Canaries. They wouldn't be on the perches as much though to wear their claws down. I wonder how wild birds keep their claws short?

It's a shame the missing part hasn't come to light AnnG, but you have tried! Maybe you will be able to spot it in the Spring as you say. Being so small it could be anywhere and tangled among stalks. Some cutting back in Spring may well reveal it. It's odd they asked about Liverpool as you say, but maybe it was because of the high rate of infections there? They might be collecting info to see if it was carried elsewhere from there?

The washer is on and I need to do some HW so our little trees can be put in place this afternoon. I want to steam the floors tomorrow, so I'd best get OH's hair cut next so there aren't bits everywhere.

4 weeks today OH went into gloucester hospital to then be moved to Cheltenham because Gloucester is the Covid hospital for the area.

Yes Vera I have actually put up a thread about that. although Rollo doesn't find it shocking but inevitable and manages to turn it to a political thread.

Ann glad the freezer arrived ok and hope OH's migraine is better.

1963 I passed my driving test and had a little A35 to drive around in as OH's car was too heavy for me to drive (MG Magnet).

Thats a good job out of the way then Ann getting the new freezer that quickly was a good move on their part.

Anng it will probably turn up when you are weeding of cutting back in the spring or be in the most unlikely place imaginable like the greenhouse gutter or the water butt.

Vera those little jobs mount up when you leave them so its good you have done them today and you should be proud of yourself. Good girl for geting them done.

Had a phone call early before lunch and it was a delivery and the girl driver did'nt know where we were but knew the village hall so I said I would meet her up there as the road is still up outside. She also asked if I could take one for the Lodge which is right on the carpark so she was pleased about that. There were three parcels one of which she said was undone but she had a look and nothing was damaged so she stuck it up with tape. It was still undone when she passed it to me. The down side was that she said this ones heavy so I will put it in the car for you and there was no hiding that one as it a huge box of fat balls for the birds and there's pictures all over the box so thats one surprise I shan't have but is very very welcome as I have just run out. He knows I love to feed the birds.

Another one was the new battery for my watch. he put it in but can't get the back of the watch on now.

Took daughter 9 goes to get through on the phone. And they say afternoons are the best time.He is still confused, eating and drinking very little today. She called the doctor to see him and they are giving him fluids now (Lyn presumed she meant in a drip), and they have done some blood tests. She thinks he is too confused to phone.

As far as Covid goes he does now have a cough, but she didn’t seem very concerned about it.

Lyn will phone again tomorrow for the results of the blood test.

When you say SHE said he now had a cough etc was that the doctor?

I forgot to say thank you for your pretty and unusual card Vera! It came yesterday but wasn't opened till this morning. That is shocking that so many have got covid while in hospital. I hadn't seen that. Methinks I will be putting my next knee appointment off again in the Spring at this rate. Don't those fiddly jobs tend to pile up! Good to get some of them out of the way though.

Maybe the nutrients in the drip will give your OH some energy and start him eating again AnnG. Two people with covid on the Hospital prog last night suffered confusion as well. It's good they don't seem too concerned about his cough, but what an effort for your daughter to get through to them! At least the blood test results will be through quickly. Cars had very heavy steering years ago didn't they? I remember doing a 3 point turn in dad's big Vauxhall Crest was hard work. I liked the A35 though, even though the round brake and clutch pedals would unscrew and fall off while you were driving, leaving just a stump to press! Also the passenger seat didn't clip down and would tip your passenger forward if you braked hard. No seat belts then either.

Annx yes we had some cars with heavy steering. Actually I did eventually drive the magnet and loved it. The heaviest to steer that I had was a Rover 2000, that was in 1990 to 1992.

I drove mums Rover 2000 and it was like driving a tank but such a comfortable car to ride in. When I moved down here mum had the Escort that she bought new before she passed her driving test. I drove that everywhere until mum bought me a rover. I got rid of the Escort to the chap I bought the rover off of and he sold it to someone in Ireland. Before it went he came down here in it and let me have a drive. I had'nt realised just how heavy it was to drive after having the power assisted on the Rover. I would never go back to driving anything now that has'nt got it. I even drove my first oh's lorry when I was younger but I think that had PA streering any way.

So Daughter talks to the nurse when she rings?

I think we had three rovers, we always had older more luxurious cars, never had a new one. Oh once had a kargervrover, not sure what it was,white and very comfortable. I think his favourite is the Lexus we have now but he loved his mercy and BMWs as well.

Good morning all, I think it rained over night but is dry now and a very high!!!! 10 degrees. I have to remember that today is Friday and I have a hair appointment at 1.30pm. At the moment I have to leave notes and lists everywhere to help my memory.

Very grey and very wet AGAIN this morning. It’s about 7 degrees here so not as cold as it has been. Your 10 degs sounds positively balmy AnnG. Enjoy your haircut. Mine feels a lot better since I had it done on Tuesday.

We have a real treat today - an appointment at the tip :-). OH wants to get rid of all the old carpet and underlay from our lounge. It has been cut into manageable bits but there is a lot of it and I am not allowed out of the car to help him, nor are staff allowed to help now. He gets 15 minutes to unload and get the stuff in the relevant container so hopefully he’ll manage. I just hope the rain has stopped by then or he’ll get soaked. I never thought I would be looking forward to a visit to the tip. How times have changed.
