You must be quite accomplished at art Island whereas I am still learning. I dropped Art at Grammar school after the first year as we had to choose either arts or sciences and I wanted to take all the sciences. I only started painting a few years ago when a lady who was on this thread and sent us lovely painted Christmas cards. I hadn't painted many till I started this course, but we have a full steam ahead teacher!
Thank you for your nice card AnnG. I keep my GR cards together so it is on the sideboard now with the others. I bet it was so nice to see your daughter and have a chat.
Vera what a clever chap you have to have been able to get all the heating working again. He's been busy too with getting the tree and cleaning the bathrooms! Can you send him here? lol.
Thanks for the tip Mandy and Mel. I'm going to try that with a stainless steel metal scourer and have ordered one as mine are all nylon or Brillo pads. Let them set their teeth on edge with that the little devils! I love them really as they are cute field mice, just not in the bungalow or garage!! :-) I'm glad you have heard from your cousin at last and know she is well. That's a brilliant little rhyme you wrote Mandy! Great idea to do a knitted mask for the knitted elf!
Oh Frank do be careful. I hope that lady has come up with some good ideas to make everywhere safer for you.

Yes great to chat with daughter. She cooked the meal tonight as well cauliflower cheese and potato wedges, very nice. We still have not heard from .oH and we assume this is because he has mislaid his phone charger which is a nuisance as I only bought it fir him two weeks ago. Our son phoned the hospital but they can’t let him borrow a charger because he is in isolation because of Covid.bee have hunted out another charger so will get that sent in to him in a couple of days. I am so pleased they are here as it is so strange not hearing from him once or twice a day. Glad you liked the card Ann. That one was done with the foil press if I remember. Correctly.

Good morning AnnG and everyone
Black as the ace of spades out there. So far this morning we have had a hailstorm and a heavy shower of sleet and there is still a small patch of snow in the garden that hasn’t melted from yesterday.
The bad weather seems to have brought the birds back into the garden. For a while now we’ve only seen a blackbird or two and the odd pigeon. So far this morning I’ve seen several blackbirds and pigeons but also blue tits, great tits, four goldfinches, a couple of sparrows and now there are some starlings back. I can see the feeders will need filling again before long.
Island, that is an impressive bit of kit you’ve bought. I can’t wait to see all the things you’ll do with it. You are a very talented lady.
Mel, please thank OH for his advice which is always welcome. In fact I think OH would have tried something like that to start with. He’s not only a chartered engineer but he worked in the water industry so he knows all about pipes and valves etc. Good luck with getting your wreaths finished. They sound great.
I hope you are not feeling too sore this morning Frank. Please be very careful and use a stick or a walker to steady yourself.

Thank you Vera. With oh being an x fireman he knows most things so very handy in fixing all sorts of things. We had a fire up the road in the farm once many years ago and I saw the smoke and heard the bang told oh and he went immediately up there and a tractor had blown up and the cow shed was on fire so between the farmer and he they had to get the cows across the road and into the field. Some of the cows did get a bit burnt but they saved them all between them. It took a while for the fire engins to get from Holsworthy but lots turned up.

Good morning to you all, We have a very nice dry, sunny morning here. I haven't ventured out but it looks beautiful with bright blue sky's and hardly any wind.
Bruises all coming out now, Ros has covered the bruises in BIO OIL which she says will help with the bruising.
The Nurse who came yesterday was as useful as A F@@t in a colander. She is getting someone to put rail down the steps to the lawn, and that's about it.
Thanks to those of you who have sent cards, I hope you all receive my Jaquie Lawson one and that you like it.
Ros spent over an hour driving around, yesterday trying to find the nail woman's house (she is now working from home) The Sat.Nav
wouldn't take her to the address. She ended up going back to the Chinese girl. She has an appointment for 1.00 pm today so won't be home until about 2.30 pm. She is out with Martine today, the first time in weeks.
I have been reading all morning, so nice to get away from watching T.V.
I felt so tired last night, that I was in bed by 9.00 pm and slept through until 6.00 am for the loo. Then dropped of again till 8.45 am
We must find time next week to go to Ros's MUM AND DAD'S grave at Earles Barton to tidy up the grave and put fresh Artificial flowers, and a wreath on. We tend not to put fresh flowers on, as they don't last very long. As we are the only ones who visit, we find Artificial flowers last a long time. I must remember to take the stone cleaner, and freshen up the GRAVE STONE.
Was going to take Ros out for Sunday lunch tomorrow, but she has got a nice piece of LEG of PORK from the local butcher. So that's all sorted. :-D :-D :-D
Enjoy your weekend, whatever you might be doing, and stay safe. xxxx

Afternoon all
Quite bright here and dry so far.
Frank, you need to have soft landings if you're to carry on falling. Has anyone, gp, said what the cause is?
Annx, 'accomplished'? Nooo, not me I don't think I just enjoy having a go and often the lessons from long ago come back. I'm a bit of a cheat with paint, eg acrylic, I just play with it and am always amazed by what it does. I shy away from from lifelike images, I don't recall learning watercolour techniques which you are doing so well with. I love to see others work.
AnnG I expect you are having a lovely time with your family. It must be very hard to have a loved one in hospital in the current situation. I am surprised that they staff haven't organised a trolley phone for you husband.
Vera, thank you, that's very kind. I think I need to put the machine to one side for now while I get on with other jobs on the pile Lucky you with the birdy visitors. One of our delights is chirping sparrows, we never saw then in the city but there's plenty where we are now. Outdoor Girl LOL I put the tiniest bit of mascara on when I was 15/16, at the tea table my dad peered right up close to my face and said 'It doesn't suit you!' :-0 I'd still be in ankle socks if he'd had his way LOL I went through a phase of not daring to go outside without a bit of make up - like anyone would notice! I gave up painting my face years ago - I'm happy to be bare faced :-D
I've sat typing this for ages. I hope I haven't missed anything.

Got back from the shop and oh had done it again. Made a huge pot of thick warming soup. I had bought nice fresh rolls so it all went down a treat.
Frank I liked your discription of the nurse who came round!!!!! Made me laugh that. Sound like you had a really good nights sleep last night.
Found out why the hsop did'nt want my wreaths this year as when I went down there they had 5 wreaths on the windowsill. Not a patch on mine.

Evening All,
Much brighter today. No snow here just lots of rain yesterday. OH found a footie match (hence a flurry of activity with the hoover this morning and getting things down from the loft!). Men can be so predictable. He got back a little while ago and said there were floods everywhere. He also said the next village was heaving with shoppers all close to each other and that they were queuing to go into one of the garden centres and at another they were parked all up the roadside. Madness! Some will be coming home with more presents to give each other than just christmas presents. OH said it looked like all 5 sons were visiting at the house at the end of the close as well when he got home. It's not supposed to be allowed in Tier 3.
Island that is some toy isn't it! You will have a lot of fun trying out what it can do. I know what you mean about playing! I enjoy doing the same with beads and patterns!
Oh Frank so the lady wasn't very helpful then? The rail will be a start though, something to hold onto. How are things progressing with getting a car, is it the RAF you are hoping will help with that?
Lucky you coming home to more warming soup with some nice rolls Mel! He is spoiling you isn't he! :-) I wonder who has made the wreaths that the shop had on sale. Not as good you say, I wonder whether they were charging the same as for yours.
Yes AnnG, it had pretty blue foil on my card. It's very effective and looks very professional! It must be nice for you getting some support from your daughter and SIL. Poor T must feel a bit cut off without his phone and will be glad to get another charger. I hope he is getting a bit stronger and will have more news for you soon.
Your weather's been a bit wild Vera! The poor birds soon come looking for food when it gets colder. I would love to know where our flock of Jackdaws went to and prefer them to the Magpies that have moved back in. The Pigeons aren't back yet though which is unusual.
Better finish my Asda order now and check I haven't ordered a dozen loaves and no milk! :-D

So no real help then Frank, that is a pity.
We have had quite a busy day, SiL has done a few jobs for me, daughter removed a small shelf in the landing that T damaged when nearly falling once. Then Grandson came and sorted the replacement charger out of T’svstorebin his office. He and his partner spent some time with us socially distanced albeit indoors.
Daughter, SiL and I sorted my car out, he checked the tyres and we drive to the garage and pumped them up? We were surprised as it started first time we then drive to the local garden centre which we know is well organised and had a coffee and mince pie.
Came back and tried to sort out how I could organise things if/when T comes home. If he is not steady on his feet he will never manage to manoeuvre in the bathroom.
Then organised for my volunteer friend to take the chargers to T either tomorrow or Monday.

Good morning all, grey but dry an 1 degree out.
Vera good to see your birds return, hope the snow has now disappeared. I was saying to daughter, in 1967 we moved house in Fareham Hampshire on 4 December and there was a good foot of snow that day, the removal men were digging out motorists all down our new road. So not unknown down South this time of year.
Island I guess the phone trolley would not be allowed in the isolation ward so Covid seems to be the main reason for most of our problems.
Mel, Perhaps the owner of the shop has found they can make the wreaths themselves so that would mean all the profit going to them instead of splitting it.
Frank, pity the nurse was not much use, you actually need an Occupational Therapist for a proper assessment I think. You probably had the frailty nurse from the surgery. Did they try and get you to sign the Do not resuscitate form? That seems to be what they are doing now.
