AnnG perhaps thats why oh felt down the last few days. Hope it gets better soon as they can be nasty. The Zovirx should help a lot with the annoyance.

Yes probably had something to do with it and he had one last week that he stopped. He used to get loads, really awful ones but these are not too bad if he catches them quickly.

He is definitely better this morning so we have been round to the local Tesco to see what was left. I didn't need pasta which was just as well. I wanted white fish as that is what I will do tonight as it is more easily digestible. I had the last two packs of haddock, no bream no sea bass and there is usually loads nobody seems to buy it I assume people stocked up their freezers for a siege. Veg and fruit was fine so that is not what people are eating! bread was OK managed to get disposable gloves, the more expensive ones the cheaper ones were sold out. No dettol wipes to be had at all. didn't look for hand gel or toilet rolls. Plenty of tonic and gin so that was OK.

Thats just what I was thinking AnnG.

I went upthe church after going to Em's with the eggs, to get my Christmas Advent ring thing back. I never seem to get a chance after Christmas and its usually brought round to me by Jane but minus the candle holders so I thought I would go and get it myself. It did have all the candle holders in it still so thats good. Now I must do some flowers for mums grave.

They say there are 22 cases of the virus in Devon.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Mar 2020 15:25

I think it is or was Mel, 22 cases in the West country, i.e. Devon, Cormwall, gloucester, Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire.

Afternoon all

It's been dry today so OH took advantage of it and did the first cut of the lawns, they do look much better now, he even done all the edges and a bit of weeding where the borders meet the grass. There is rain forecast later so he was lucky he had a day off today to do it. We're just waiting to see if anyone else cuts theirs now as that normally happens if OH does something, all the neighbours copy. lol ;-) We haven't heard anything yet though.

OH told me when he nipped to the shops earlier there was a big box of hand sanitizer and although there were lots of people waiting for it, one woman grabbed the lot, OH said to the assistant, is she allowed to do that and apparently once it goes on the shelf you can take as many as you like, I'd of thought there would of been a notice saying one per person, but no, nothing. OH asked when they were getting more and was told not for another week or more, so he couldn't buy any today. All the other shops seem to be out of it to. He said it was crazy in the shop and most of the shelves were empty. We're trying not to panic buy but if things don't improve soon we might have to buy more than we usually do incase the shops run out of things we need. He said the toilet rolls were going to. Total madness if you ask me.

It sounds like you've experienced the same as OH, AnnG, I did smile when you said there was plenty of gin and tonic though lol ;-) ;-) I hope you and your OH are feeling a little better now.

You all seem to be having problems buying the things you need, I think everyone is panic buying to. OH forgot my hair colouring so has nipped out to get it for me, I'm going to have to do it again soon. He had his hair cut before so I'm running him a bath for when he gets back as he said he was itchy. That means more washing. Honestly he's worse than a child for changing his clothes, I suppose it's better than him smelling, but lots of work for me as there'll be the towel to wash as well. Thankfully the sun is out and there's a nice breeze so with a bit of luck everything will dry on the line. I just hope we don't have the rain that was promised for this afternoon before I've managed to wash everything.

Poor Robby Mel, he was such a sweetheart wasn't he? You never know though he may come back and he hasn't died, although he didn't look right on the pictures you sent.....poor thing.

That's a good idea to set up online shopping Ann, but then it depends on whether there is anything in the shops, but like you said it's better to sort it now rather than wait. We heard on the news one person has the virus not far from us, it's such a worry, especially with OH working in the caring profession. The boss had everyone in the office the other day to explain what to do if they think they have the virus. I must look it up as I don't know what the symptoms are, apart from a cough and breathing problems.

I've got yet another sore throat and headache, I'm almost sure it's stress that's causing it, all I can do is dose up on painkillers, being careful they don't interfere with the meds I'm on and drink plenty and keep warm. Luckily I don't need to go out anywhere, which is good as I don't like going out at the moment, not just because of the virus but because it terrifies me. I'm hoping the phone consultation is going to help, although I'm not sure what it entails yet.

Well, I'd better go and check OH's bath, he'll be back from the shops soon. I did smile before as I asked him if he'd like me to run him a bath as he wouldn't be out long to which he said "No I won't be long, can you run me a bath".......talk about confusing. I said "You're not very good at this conversation thing are you?" lol.

I'll try and catch up with the rest of the posts later, hope everyone is okay.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Mar 2020 16:13

Gill symptoms are mainly I think. Sore throat, dry cough, trouble breathing and high temperature. All of which can be symptoms of other things.

Just read in the paper that soap and water is as good as hand sanitizer if not better so don't worry. and how disgusting of that woman. Didn't people say anything to her? I presume where OH works they have sanitizer.

we are both OK now gill thanks.

At least you have got your lawn cut anyway which is good.

Frank Report 7 Mar 2020 16:24

Afternoon to you all,

Harvey is here taking out the kitchen sink to replace the MIXER TAP. It has been leaking where the water comes out of e swivel part. He's had to take the sink out to get to the fittings, behind the panel, at the back of the unit. He has just asked for the new tap, and fittings, so must be getting there.

BIGGLES disappeared from the garden this morning. The little Bu@@@r found small hole in the fence into Pam's garden. They were sitting in their lounge and looked at the Patio window, and there sat BIGGLES. They let him in, and Pam decided to take him for a walk before returning him. We were searching and calling him. When suddenly Tracy called over and said "He's here" So panic over.

Ros went to meet Martine, to go shopping and realised she had left her handbag at home. So Martine bought her back to collect it. She came back with loads of meats for the freezer. Some of which we already had. Never mind, it will get eaten.

Glad your OH is feeling better this morning Ann.

Touch wood, I haven't had to visit my "WHITE FRIEND" today. So I hope that's all cleared up.

As Harvey won't take any money for coming up and doing these jobs, Ros is sending £50.00 down to Lewis for petrol for his car.

Not sure what if anything we will have tonight, as we had king prawns with salad and rolls at lunchtime. Roast Leg of Lamb for tomorrow, with all the trimmings. It's a lot cheaper to eat at home, but nice to go out some times.

Next weekend we should be at Southend on Sea. So hope this Coronavirus doesn't stop us from travelling. With both of us feeling under the weather, we don't want to take ny chances.

Time for a COT, So will say BYE for now. Stay safe. xxx

Gillx Report 7 Mar 2020 17:12

Yes AnnG, there is plenty of sanitizer at OH's works, I should imagine all the care homes are well supplied as they can't take any risks can they? Pleased to hear you're both feeling better. Now the lawns are cut we've noticed it needs some kind of treatment as there is a lot of moss on it, probably down to all the damp weather we've had recently. I'm not sure how to use it, but if I remember correctly, Frank has his done and I think he said it needs to be done on a dry day. I shall Google it just to make sure. I think it might be a bit to early in the year to do it now, so I have time to find out how to do it before hand.

I know I shouldn't smile about Biggles, Frank as it must of been a worry for you and Ros, but the image I had in my head of him sitting outside with a look like "Well are you going to let me in?" was so funny. That was nice of Pam to take him for a walk before returning him to you, that would save you doing it. I wonder if Biggles will make a habit of it now he knows how to get out, or have you blocked it up? Pleased to hear your tum is better. Is your mixer tap finished, it sounds a fiddly job? I hope you manage to get down to Southend on Sea next weekend.

It's gone very dark now and the wind has got up, so I've put the washing on the radiators as it looks like rain, plus it's a bit late for it to dry anyway.

We had our Wetherspoons coffee this morning. There were 8 of us today. The pub was packed as a couple of coachloads of men had been dropped off there for drinks/food on their way to the football match at Ipswich. AnnG, we have loads of pubs and coffee shops but they are always busy and Wetherspoons is the most spacious so we can all sit together. The other thing is that it has the cheapest tea/coffee which helps the less affluent in our group.

Gill, as Ann says, the Coronavirus symptoms are very similar to the symptoms of other things, such as normal winter coughs and colds, so if you have a cough or a bit of a fever there’s absolutely no need to get worried unless you know you have been in contact with someone with the virus. If you are concerned at any time you can ring 111. How mean of that woman to take all the sanitizer. If it is standard sanitizer anyway it will only work against bacteria. To work against viruses it has to be the high alcohol one. All our shops have had notices in their windows for the past 10 days or so saying they have no sanitizer.

The panic buying is reaching ridiculous levels but I did notice yesterday when I was in the supermarket that a lot of the shoppers with laden trolleys were middle aged or younger. I’ve got a feeling that those of us who go back to the forties and fifties know we can get by with very little. We won’t starve.

Gill, i’m not trying to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do but I have noticed you seem to take quite a lot of painkillers and I wonder if some of your headaches could be rebound headaches. They are caused by frequent use or overuse of painkillers and are like a tension or stress headache. It’s probably not the case with you and I am not trying to interfere. I just thought I would mention it as I am just concerned about you as I would be about my own daughter.

I hope your OH is a bit better now AnnG. Cold sores are horrid and generally make an appearance when you are a bit run down. Zovirax is pretty good so should ease it a bit. Not long before you have your stitches out, then your arm might feel a bit better. I know what you mean about men and their illnesses. Mine doesn’t much like being fussed over but I have noticed that if anyone phones and asks how we both are, they get the whole history of his bad neck but my bad back doesn’t get a mention.

Frank, I’m pleased your upset tum has improved. Be careful what you eat over the next few days. You don’t want to put the kibosh (sp) on your trip to Southend. Did you say you were going on 14th? We are in Southend on 13th so we’ll just miss each other. It would have been nice to meet you and Ros.

Poor Robbie. RIP.

Well, I’d better go and put this casserole on to reheat. I cooked it in the oven but think I’ll reheat it on the hob. I might even make some dumplings.

Morning all,

The wind came up a lot last night and it rained all evening and into the night and this morning its still raining. The deer don't seem to mind it as the stag is sitting up the garden in the rain out in the open. The doe is by the forsythia quite a way from him the other side of our road.

Hope Jane is feeling better after her last lot of reduced chemo. she sould'nt have such bad side effects I think. Sending love and wishes. <3 <3

I went to bed earlier for me yesterday at 12.45am. I was really tired. Must have been the wine last night. How did you all sleep, well I hope?

Morning all,

Sunshine here but plenty of clouds too, I could see the road was wet when we got up so we must have had some rain in the night I did hear the wind in the night and is still quite blowy ,Colin mended the washing line yesterday so I'm wondering if I should hang some washing out with this nice blow .

I have quite a dry sore throat with a bit of a tickle so I had some honey and lemon instead of coffee this morning .

Not a lot happening here I'm doing a chicken curry for tonight so nice and easy.

Suns out here now but the wind is blowing a hooley. Its nice to have some brightness though. Shows up all the dust and cobwebs too.

SuffolkVera Report 8 Mar 2020 12:52

Nothing much to report here. I didn't have a brilliant night and was up before 7.30am. It rained quite a bit in the night but so far today it's dry; a mixture of sunshine and cloud but it's still very windy.

OH got cross with me for cleaning the bathrooms. My back is much, much better but he reckons I have got to wait till it's completely better before doing anything. He wasn't happy when I pointed out that I haven't done much for nearly 4 weeks now and some things need keeping clean for hygiene reasons. I haven't gone over the top but the loos and hand basins had to be done. The trouble is he just doesn't see any dirt. Anyway I have told him that I am going to get on with a few jobs even if it does strain my back a bit because sitting worrying about h/w is straining my brain.

I hope you all have a good day. I am just about to send you a group email.

Afternoon to you all,

Harvey left last night around 7.00 pm. He has to get a new waste pipe and PLUG HOLE, and will be back when he gets them. Until then we have to be careful with the drips. He has put a large dish under the sink to catch any water.

No great escape from Biggles today. Helices to roll in the grass and get himself wet, then comes in doors and lays on his blanket, and cleans himself.

We are hoping everything will be alright for the 14th. SORRY I won't be meeting you at S on S what is your trip about.???

I must have missed that ROBBIE has passed on. Sorry to hear that Mel.

I have prepared the dinner for later, and Ros has been SPRING CLEANING. She has had the Sofa and armchairs out and hoovered behind them. She found TWO phones that we didn't know we had. Plus books and an old T.V. paper.

Horrible day here now, getting darker, and hissing with rain. To say the least I won't be moving far this afternoon.

I hope you are all well, and that Jane is not feeling any nasty effects from her treatment. Take care all. xxxx
