AnninGlos Report 27 Feb 2020 13:34

good afternoon all, we took the opportunity of a sunny (cold) morning to drive out to a garden centre as OH wanted a couple more slate slabs and found a voucher he had had for Christmas. That way I was resting my arm a bit as well. We then had a bowls of lovely sweet potato and red pepper soup in another much small garden centre and managed to find the oil we needed for the wooden bench.

Got home to find a letter from gloucester royal hospital to make an appointment having been referred by the doc yesterday. Always quick when you don't want them to be!.

Had a reasonable nights sleep last night so that was good, woke up a couple of times to get more comfortable.

Quiet on here today.

Afternoon Everyone,

I slept really well again too once I got off, just got up once for the loo, but slept in late and feel better for it.

No more sleet here and the sun has shone all morning, so a bit warmer than where you are Mandy, although the wind is chilly. As Mel says though, how long before the next rain that's due. On the way to the Manor carvery, the tiny lambs were enjoying a bit of sunbathing next to their mums. We didn't go anywhere after as OH has a meeting at teatime and things to do ready for it and I didn't fancy being out in the cold.

I forgot to say yesterday that we went to see Emma at the cinema in the morning and both enjoyed it. The clothes they wore then were interesting and I love to see the horses and carriages.

AnnG that was a useful bit of shopping you got done and will have distracted you from your arm a bit as well if it is sore. We need to assess what we need for the garden as some trellis blew down in all the wind and the neighbour's fence is leaning well at the end.

I must see if I can get on with my applique this afternoon as I want it to be finished for next week's class. I find I am slower than most at doing these projects. I must do some dusting first and get the cobweb duster out with the long handle.

No Gill again? I hope she is ok and that Sandra has been in touch and that her hubby likes the people he is now working with.

I hope Vera is in less pain today. It really wears you down after a while.

We spoke to a neighbour doing their garden when we got back and he is sending OH a video that's been passed on of the chase and shooting up the road.

That'll be interesting to see Ann. I wonder how he got it or was he there when it happened?

Well the sleet soon stopped and out came the sun ,I decided to make soup for lunch ,it was just about done I only had to add a little cream ,oh dear I knocked the pot of cream and three quarters of the pot poured down the side of the cooker and the unit ,so then we had to pull the cooker out and clear it all up ,I didn't realise how much mess three quarters of a pot of cream could make it went every where .
Max thought it was great ,he was trying to lap it up .

We nipped out to Tesco as I needed a few bits and I wanted some change for the eggs and some spuds tomorrow from the farm shop, we did the shopping ,called and got petrol got home and then I realise I hadn't got any change for tomorrow ,such a nuisance as I will now have to nip into a shop tomorrow to buy some thing to get some change .

AnninGlos Report 27 Feb 2020 16:01

Annx I suspect that you are slow because you take more care and are precise. I just know it will be lovely when finished.
Yes the trip out took my mind off it although it was difficult avoiding knocking it. Hard to open the car door too being my left arm. so I was a 'lady' with oh opening the door for me.
The lambs are so cute aren't they? Not seen any round here yet but then we have not driven out into the country. We did pass a field today with sheep in but I didn't catch sight of any lambs.

Mandy Oh dear cream is a bit greasy when it spills isn't it? A shame to have wasted it as well.

Yes I wonder where Gill is, hope the stress hasn't given her a migraine. Do hope her OH has got on OK with his job.

And hope Jane and Vera are both OK.

I used the referral letter to make an appointment. that was all very efficient, make the appointment on line using the booking reference and password in the letter. First appointments available...... September, so all booked for 11th September!!! No rush then and that is just to see the doctor in Dermatology. :-D :-D

Annx

Annx Report 27 Feb 2020 16:20

So did any of the cream reach the soup Mandy? What a shame and so much mess as you say. What kind of soup were you cooking? At least Max tried to help clean up! lol. :-D

Well the video, which was on FB, looked as if it was from CCTV and taken at the end of the next close to us just round the corner. Two big vans and a 4x4 appeared from the main road and one van bounced over kerbs into a house driveway and the ones following spun round and stopped sprawled across the road and people from those vehicles ran to the first van, People from it were then running back towards the island and main road, so the others jumped back in the car/other van. A car that ran into the back of the van in the road got pushed backwards as the van reversed to pull away. It's a bit odd really as there was no sign any shooting happening there or people would have been crouching down. Also it was in daylight and OH said the shooting happened at 7.45pm so it would have been dark. Photos of the 2 police cars that crashed show it was dark then and there were street lights on.Maybe this skirmish happened earlier in the day leading up to the shooting?

It's good to have got your appointment all sorted quickly AnnG. At least you can work around it with any planned breaks etc. Yes I hope it will be nice AnnG although not as neat as i would have liked with the hard materials to get the needle through.

We also learned today that our next door neighbour is in Tenerife! I don't think I would have gone in case I got stranded there.

Frank Report 27 Feb 2020 16:26

Good afternoon to all,

We woke to a good covering of snow, but once the sun got up, it soon disappeared.

Ros had to be out by 8.00 this morning, to go to the NAUGHTY GIRLS SCHOOL. (That's what she called it.) She rang at 11.00 as it was break time. There were 24 people there, and the whole thing was very boring, said by most. Perhaps NOW they will keep the right foot off the accelerator. lol lol

Have done very little today, my get up and go, HAS GONE. I have prepared the meal for tonight (if you an call it PREPARED) Pork chops, with rice and vegetables. I have added more mushrooms, onions and peas. Will get that ready for 6.15pm. Eos forgot she had a nail appointment for 12.30 today. Gill the nail girl is fitting her in at 4.45 today, she's just gone. She has choir tonight, and has to pick Valerie up at 6.45 so not a lot of time between getting home, and going out again.

I have just treated her to a beautiful outfit for my Nephew, and his wife's 70th Birthday Saturday week. 14th. at Southend.

It's my sister's 85 birthday on the 4th March. So Ros is posting her card. My nephew Paul (her son) is getting some flowers to give to her, so I have put some money in the card, as he will open it for her. Being like a Vegetable, I doubt she will know it's her birthday, but I couldn't not send a card.

The sun is so bright at the moment, that I can't look out of the conservatory window. I expect it will be a good frost tonight. Grrrrr.

Tomorrows dinner is already sorted. Chicken Casserole, with loads of Mushrooms, onions, tin tomato's and what ever else I decide on. Like it or lump it. lol lol

Well onwards and upwards, as they say. See you tomorrow. BEHAVE YOURSELVES. xxxxx

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 27 Feb 2020 16:51

Woke up to sleety rain this morning and it soon turned to snow. It was quite heavy for a time but only settled on the flower beds and pots. It melted as soon as it hit the paths. This afternoon has been a mixture of sun and grey clouds. It’s very cold.

Nothing yet from Frank or Gill. I hope they are both OK.

I bet you said a few choice words when you knocked the cream over Mandy. Why does a little drop always spread so far? I hope you enjoyed your soup when you eventually got your lunch.

Ann, I’m hoping Emma will come to our little local theatre soon as I would love to see it. I read a review that said that the character of Emma is interpreted differently to earlier versions. I’m in credit for £12 at the theatre but there hasn’t been anything I want to see lately so I would be pleased if I could use it on a couple of tickets to see Emma.

I forgot to mention that at the dentist yesterday I was walking from the reception to the waiting room when I heard someone call me and say “it is Vera, isn’t it?”. Turned round to see a face I recognised but couldn’t immediately put a name to. Then I suddenly realised who it was. We had worked for the same small company twenty years ago. It was quite a coincidence as the dentist is not in our local town or hers. We live about 12 miles away in one direction and she is about the same distance in the opposite direction so I wonder what the chances are that we would be visiting the same dentist at the same time. I wonder if I will meet her there at our next checkup in 6 months time.

Well, we seem to be staggering from one crisis to another. OH’s stiff neck got more and more painful with the pain going right up into his head. By this morning it was really bad so we rang 111. After discussing it with him for some time they advised him to see our GP as soon as possible. Appointments can be like gold dust but as he had already rung 111 they gave him an emergency appointment. When we got there they said he would be seeing the doctor but would he agree to see a final year medical student first. The outcome was that they were confident that the problem is muscular and he has yet more tablets and should contact the physio people if it doesn’t improve considerably within a week.

While we were there I made an appointment to see the same medical student and one of the doctors about my back. They are at our local surgery on Monday and I managed to get the last available appointment for late afternoon. If it recovers over the weekend I can cancel it. I could self refer to physio but I would like to be sure it is just a muscle problem. I’m also being a bit crafty. I’ve learnt from experience that if you self refer there is often a long wait for an appointment, if you get a doctor referral you tend to get seen more quickly.

A year ago OH and I were active and generally healthy and young for our age. Now we’re like two old wrecks. Oh well, enough of the moans, it can only get better.

I’m lying on the bed at the moment as that’s the most comfortable position but I shall have to get up now and get dinner in the oven. It’s a pork casserole and I want it to cook for 2-3 hours. It is all prepared so I only have to pop it in the oven.

EDIT. I typed this next bit immediately before the paragraph about my meeting at the dentist’s. I see it has apparently moved itself to the end of the post. I can’t think how but I am not going to try to put it back in the right place in case I lose the whole post.

I am glad you managed to get a decent night in spite of your sore arm AnnG.It was a good idea to get out today. If you had stayed in you might have been tempted to do too much and made your arm more sore. That was a quick response from the hospital. I’m sure you don’t want to think about it but it will be better done sooner rather than later.

I need to ring our hospital as I think I have fallen through the net, AGAIN :-(
I am on a surveillance programme and was due for a colonoscopy and check up around Christmas. I thought they would get behind at that time of year but expected to hear by the end of January but so far nothing. With everything else that’s been happening I’ve put off ringing the hospital as I don’t feel I can face a colonoscopy right now but I know I will have to call and remind them.

Just a quickie to let you know I've not been well for a few days, I keep being sick and have a terrible headache. I'll try and catch up with the posts when I feel less ill.

Hope all went well for AnnG and Jane, I've been thinking of you both.

Hope you feel better soon Gill. Sounds like a migraine but I am sure it is stress. Try and rest and relax and stop worrying. Come back when you feel better.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 27 Feb 2020 20:29

Sorry you have been so poorly Gill. It does sound like migraine. You are under a lot of stress at the moment and stress is one of the major causes of migraine. I know it’s difficult but try to rest and relax as much as you can. Get well soon <3

Annx Report 27 Feb 2020 21:19

So what colour is the outfit you have bought for Ros Frank? It sounds like her punishment for speeding is to be bored to death! lol :-D Does she have any more sessions or is it just the one. She has a busy day today. You can have a lazy day tomorrow with getting ahead of yourself preparing the meal ready. I used to get the next night's meal ready the night before when I was at work.

Vera you seem to both be going through the wars just now. I hope your OH's neck feels better soon. I just had a vision of you both covered in those heat patches, but it's no laughing matter. Would one of those wheat bags you hot up in the microwave help your OH's neck? I think Mel has one and one of our group puts one on her neck sometimes. I know what you mean about feeling you are reasonably fit and then suddenly it's downhill with one thing or another. We seem to always be at the docs or chemist.

Gill I think AnnG and Vera are right about stress probably causing migraine and you to be ill just now. I hope you soon feel better again.

I'm at the docs first thing in the morning before meeting my friends so better get to bed now. OH said he will drop me off to save finding parking and we might have poached eggs at the farm shop after if I get seen quickly.

I hope everyone has a good sleep! Lots of zzzzzzzz.

O dear Mandy I can sympathise with you as I knocked a pot of cream out of the fridge once and its a devil to clear up. I wish I had had Max to lap most of it off the carpet. We have that flotex carpet in the kitchen area and though it has no pile as such its hard to get it out. Not easy pulling the cooker out either. Mine has'nt been out for a while now so I shall have to get oh to do it for me so I can clean the side as I make all the lunches next to the cooker and I can see crumbs down there.

Ann that was very strange about the video. Do you think they had a dumby run during the day? Or was the shooting after an arguement about something?

Gill sorry to hear you had anothe rmigraine. I hope your eating properly cos that can cause sickness if your stomach is making juices and nothings coming down for it to work on. Wretching can also give you a headache and if you hav'nt eaten anything there's nothing to come up.

Vera poor you and oh it does seem like one thing after another and the wether dos'nt help it just gets you down all this rain and wind. They forcast rain and high winds for us today but we had a cold biting wind but sunshine all day. I cleaned the big girls out about 4pm and the wind had dropped then. Now outside we have a frost.

AnnG it dos'nt hurt to be treated like a lady for a time so make the most of it and I hope the pain is easing a bit now. Another day nearer to it healing. Sending love.

Hope Jane is getting on ok and soon has her results of the scan. Its horrid waiting....

Frank you are ahead of yourself getting tomorrows dinner prepared already. We have lamb chops tonight and cauli cheese I did'nt do any spuds as we had had two crumpets each with a drink this aftenoon.

I told you lt about the program on Tuesday about the corner shop and completely forgot about it myself so I am half way through it on catchup. I don't think they have any idea about a corner shop. My nan used to run one up the road from where mum lived as a child and my dad lived there with his brother mum and dad (my grandad) They let this shop to a brother and sister for £4 a month for a very long while. When nan died my father ws dead and it came to me. I sold it to the present tennants as £4 a month was'nt much good to me.

I hope you all have a good nights sleep again tonight.

Still awake!

Mel people seem to think the travellers from the site a quarter of a mile away were involved. Maybe the dispute if it was was getting serious then before any shooting. The crash between the two police cars that attended the shooting happened on the road outside the school which is opposite the traveller site. Whatever next!

Off to get a COT!

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 28 Feb 2020 09:14

Good morning

I hope you all slept well, apart from Ann who obviously didn’t. I hope you get a good lie in this morning Ann and don’t feel too washed out during the day. I wasn’t too bad last night and slept from about 1am till 6am. Since then I’ve had a couple of CoTs and have been lying around reading.

OH said he slept better as well and he does look a bit better. Ann, we have got a wheat bag but Mr I-Know-Best won’t use it. He’s wearing warm shirts at the moment and is going around with the collar turned up. He looks quite young and jaunty :-)

Son rang last night and said he hadn’t had any more flooding himself, which was a relief, but the River Wharfe had burst its bank and the town had been badly flooded. I keep wondering how Jane’s niece is.

Well, as I have been up for 3 hours I had better have some breakfast and get washed and dressed. I hope everyone with aches and pains is feeling better this morning and Gill is recovering from her bad head and sickness. I hope you all have a good day.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Feb 2020 10:46

Morning girls and Frank,

Sorry to say I slept like a log last night and don't remember laying there waiting to drop off so must have been really tired. Went to bed 2 hours before Ann got up to make her COT.

After yesterday surprise day weather wise we are back to normal with rain and very grey skies. the only good thing is there's not a great deal of wind.

Last night as oh was going t bed he came over to me and said "if you want your good night kiss hurry up cos I am taking my lips away now" I thought it was funny at the time. He always gives me three kisses before he goes to bed. It was so unexpected I had to giggle. He would'nt be leaving his lips behind would he!!

Annx

Annx Report 28 Feb 2020 13:14

I'm glad you and your OH and Mel all slept well Vera. Men don't like trying anything different do they, but it sounds like he is enjoying his rakish image with collar turned up. :-) No lie in for me today as I had a Drs appointment at 8.40am, and had to set out early because of the traffic at that time. OH collected my prescription and payed a cheque in while he was waiting for me and we called in the farm shop on the way home. A quick change next and then met with my friends.

OH has gone to lie down till a migraine clears and then we may go and have a jacket potato somewhere. He's got behind with his work with not being well for a few weeks so has been on the computer a lot. It has rained all morning and doesn't look like stopping anytime soon.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Feb 2020 16:52

Its rained all day here to and its so dull and dreary.

Do you think the work on the computer gave G a migraine Ann? Hope it got better and you were able to go out for your jacket potato. Perhaps because you had a doc's appointment early this morning and it was on your mind was what made you unable to sleep last night.

Oh bought me some new kind of clay and it arrived today with some cutters of all kinds. I just have to have alook on the pc to find out what it looks like once it is baked as it just looks like the usual stuff at the moment.

I keep sneezing and my eyes keep watering so think I may have a cold.

Where's Frank?

Hope Jane is ok and am thinking of her........ <3

Annx

Annx Report 28 Feb 2020 17:26

Still raining here too Mel. Yes I think it is the computer that has given him a migraine plus not liking being behind with everything. He was ok once his eyes cleared and we went to a garden centre for our jacket pots. I noticed they have all their basket plants in already, but I shan't be buying any just yet. I noticed there were some nice pink million bells I like in my front wall pots and have had before. I always panic this early in the year incase they get sold and don't have more in again. Is it a different make or a different kind of clay you are using just now? It all sounds interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing some more of your makes.

Yes I hope Jane is ok too and that Gill is feeling better today.

I'm getting really weary now, with runny eyes but will see if I can do a bit more stitchwork before I flop on the bed.
