Oh Vera my OH seems to expect me to be his memory! That did make me laugh with him having it in his phone all the time. :-D Mine rarely says sorry when he does something like that as well. He always leaves me the name and address of the footie he goes to on a little note he puts in a tray on a cupboard. I think it's as much so I know where to send the police if he goes missing as me not being able to get him on his phone if I need him if I'm ill or something. Anyway as I came into the lounge yesterday morning he asked if I'd removed the note as I take it with me if I go out. 'No' said I.' You must have' he insisted 'as I put it there earlier'. Me 'No I haven't'. Louder voice....'but you HAVE as I know I put it there'. Me 'this is the first time I've walked into the lounge this morning and I'm not dressed yet so why would I pick it up now'. Lots of muttering to the effect of 'I'm sure etc 'I wouldn't have put it in my wallet'......but he had! As for 'miracle recovery from injury' when a better offer than doing a job comes along.......as you say MEN! lol.

Mel maybe the clay is hardest after it cools? I bet you do see some sights on the beach too!

It does sound as if you need very little oil AnnG. I must admit I miss eating something with a nice crunch to it and like roast carrots and swede which you could probably do as well.

AnninGlos Report 19 Jan 2020 22:03

Tonight we had gammon cooked in the slow cooker and cauliflower with white sauce. The from the air fried small roast potatoes, carrot pieces and parsnips and a small amount of onion. I used about three quarters of a dessert spoon of olive oil and a scattering of Italian herbs and it was very good.. it took a bit of organising to get it all ready at once but I did it. The potatoes etc took roughly half an hour cooked at 175.

Morning all,

extremly frosty this morning so much it looked like snow as the grass was completely white. The suns burning it off now but it was very pretty first thing. when i got up as it was gettinng light the sky to the east was all red.

I am going to attempt to cook the other thing I have made today and maybe my dragons eye. With the eye I have to put it in the oven and bring it up to temp and let it cool down in the oven because of the glass eye in it so thats going to be interesting. I hope it dos'nt crack. Then I have to paint it.

Thinking of Jane and wishing her love for tomorrow. <3 <3

Morning All,

Another crisp and frosty one but the sun is shining which is always uplifting. I've done my stint on the exercise bike. Yesterday I felt a bit dizzy after, but we were ready to go out so I think I warmed up too quickly and went too fast and didn't wind down slowly. Today I was fine.

Your meal last night sounded lovely AnnG and that is such a small amount of oil you needed and far fewer calories. Timings do take a few times to get right when you use something new for cooking and use it in conjunction with other cookers! I still find my fan oven slower than when it is set to top and bottom heating, yet the book suggests it is quicker. It may be for cakes but not roast Turkey!

We are nipping out to the carvery down the road for lunch, then shopping in Sainsbury's opposite. I think we will be at home then as OH wants to finish his tax return off and I have some jobs to get done.

I hope everyone slept well last night. I had a good night so feel better for it. BBL.

Didn't see you there Mel. Fingers crossed your eye baking is a success!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Jan 2020 12:54

Good luck with the 'cooking' Mel, hope the eye doesn't crack.

Annx the potatoes 'felt' as they were a lot healthier and we enjoyed them but I think when doing a joint or roast chicken I will still use the main oven. I really only wanted the frier for quick midweek meals as I don't like standing over the cooker on Sunday cooking. However it is good to know it works on roast veg so I will do that mis week sometimes. With watching my sugar intake though and therefore my carb intake I do try not to have too many potatoes so we shall see. I don't like the cookery book I had from Amazon, it had good reviews but nobody said anywhere that is is American based so meat cuts and fish that are not normal for UK and American measurements and heat settings etc. Not cheap at £8.90 either.

I can'r be the first on at this time of day. !!!!

Good afternoon girls,

Another very frosty morning, but it doesn't seen too cold.

We went to our local Toby yesterday, I will be contacting them later, regarding the meal and the table they put us on. The food was luke warm, and they ran out of Cauli. By the time a fresh dish full was boughtout, that was the warmest item on our plates, There were no SAUCES, only MUSTARD.. The dishes of gravy were almost empty, and we had to scrap around the bottom to get some. The table was in the DARKEST SPOT in the restaurant, there was I light overhead but not working, So we had to feel for what we were eating. Was glad to get out of there.

Have got on very well with the new "GNASHERS" so well pleased. I will ring CLIVE later to thank him.

I'm a day ahead of myself cooking wise/ Tonight it's Fillet Steak with all the usual trimmings, and while I was at it, I have made a chicken casserole for tomorrow, I have done the Potato's as well, will have to remember to change the water later and tomorrow.

More news about poor Ros. She has to have a scan of her heart again. She is getting horrible pains going up her neck, and is continuing to sweat on her head. I will keep an eye on her, and if necessary get her to the DOCTORS.

One of the women who died with Cancer, wouldn't have treatment and knew she didn't have long to live, as she got rid of her little sScottish highland terrier, and put her husband in a CARE HOME, (He had dementia), and she booked herself into a CARE HOME. So her knew what was happening. Bless her.

Just had a call from Simon, He is at the General Hospital for a pre-op on his knee, which will take place on 13th February. PLUS JAN has just come out of HOSPITAL after a WOMANS OPERATION and a hernia. She will be off work for 6/8 weeks. I have told him we are here if he needs anything doing. IT'S ALL H APPENING NOW. !!!!! What with our Jane as well.

Where has the day gone. It's 2.00 pm and I don't seemed as though I have sat down for 5 minutes. Going to get a coffee and a sarnie.

Hope you are all well. xxxx

Gillx Report 20 Jan 2020 14:44

Afternoon all

Another frosty start to the day but the sun is out now and it's quite warm so I've done a bit of gardening, just tidying up but it looks much better now.

So you're a day ahead of yourself Frank. lol :-D :-D :-D Sorry to hear about Ros, I hope the doctor can help if it comes to it. Pleased to hear you're getting on well with your new teeth, that's a nice thing to do to thank Clive. He'll be very pleased you did. OH dear you didn't have a good meal at the local Toby's did you, let's hope your next meal out is better where ever you go. Hope Jan has a speedy recovery and Simon's op goes well.

I see you're getting on well with your air fryer AnnG. It won't be long before you get used to it and then they'll be no stopping you :-) Is the leak in the conservatory fixed now?

I sent Anne a birthday and Christmas card last December Ann and thought she might of popped on here to mention it, along with any she may of received off everyone else, but it didn't happen. I hope she's okay. I wonder if she'll ever come back on here. I miss her stories of Ruby, the little darling was always up to something wasn't she? Such a cute dog, bless her.

How are you getting on with your new oven Mel, have you worked out how long to leave things in now. Does the clay harden as it dries?

Oh dear Vera, all that trouble trying to find some information on your OH's cousin for him to find the details in his contacts. It is funny thought when they ask questions they know you don't know the answers to. At least he found it in the end, pity he didn't say thank you to you though for trying to help.

Thinking of Jane today and hoping all is going well for her. Hope all goes well tomorrow too <3 <3

We haven't heard from Mandy for a while, I hope she's okay

AnninGlos Report 20 Jan 2020 15:07

As gill said Frank you were a day ahead of yourself. you will meet yourself coming back soon Lol!!! Sorry to hear that Ros has to have another scan. Those pains are not good news so I hope they can find the cause, Maybe another stent is beeded.
So it sounds as if you won'r be goig back to the Toby then Frank, were you later than usual?

Gill we won't know if the leak is fixed until we get some rain. I suppose he could throw a bucket of water at it but I would rather wait ans see. today he is tidying up out there and I have done a load of washing and drying and cleared out a small sideboard cupboard that had a lot of paperwork and booklets fro long gone appliances in so the re-cycling bin is full now. It is collection day tomorrow.

Jane were you testing OH's Ipad so you can use it tomorrow?

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 20 Jan 2020 15:59

It doesn't sound as if your local Toby was very well organised Frank. Has the manager or the chef changed recently? Sorry to hear that poor Ros has more problems. I hope the scan doesn’t show anything too worrying and the docs can quickly improve things for her.

My OH has problems again. He damaged a rib a couple of days ago and made it a lot worse showering this morning so now he is in pain and can hardly move again. He won’t be able to go to our club meeting tonight and we were taking the raffle prizes and doing the tea/coffees so I’ll be staggering down the road with 3 raffle prizes, one of which is a plant, a large bag of tea things, biscuits, milk etc and the disposable cups, plus a handbag and a couple of books I have to return. I’ll look like the local bag lady lol

We’re wondering if our days of overseas holidays are over now. OH’s problems are becoming more frequent and he is taking longer to recover each time. Of course there are lovely places here and plenty of attractions to visit, but we have always enjoyed learning about other cultures, so will be really disappointed if we have to give up. We’ve never done tours or cruises as we prefer to be independent and mix in with local people as much as possible. We’ll need to make a decision soon as we will need to book if we do decide to risk going abroad again this summer.

I’ve changed another lot of bedding, done 3 loads of washing and a bit of cleaning. I really ought to get out into the garden as OH has hardly done anything out there over the last few months but I do seem to get very tired these days. Getting older is no fun is it? I’m feeling quite tired now but we’re only having cold chicken, oven chips and baked beans tonight so nothing much to do to get that ready.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow Jane <3

O dear Frank I hope the doc can find whats up with Ros. She should go and the sooner the better. Tell her to slow down a bit and take more rests. <3

It will be good if Jane take s Chris's ipad with her and can speak to us on here to take the boredom away. We will all be thinking of you tomorrow Jane and I am sending more love your way. <3 <3 <3

Sounds like you may get used to the air friyer AnnG and it will help out during the week with veg if nothing else.

Frank I hope you get some vouchers or some compensation from the Toby with regard to your meal yesterday. Not good when the food is cold and no light to eat by.

Hope simon and Jan recover quickly and get back to theirselves soon. All ready for the summer if we ever get any.

I hav'nt done a baking today as this mornning I made a quiche for lunch with salad and this afternoon, well I don't know where that went.

Oh has bought me an A3 size acrylic board to do my caly on but the edges were so sharp he had to rub them dowon a bit with my nail file. I am one of those people who seem to have open skin and anything sharp goes straight in. Like when I pick the hogs up I have to wear leather gloves.

Just having a piece of naughty choc cake and a cuppa.

Had three eggs today 2 in the house and one in the nest box. I do wish they would learn where the nest boxes are as I have a bit of a job openeing the door with the wood across it when its frosty as they are wet and a bit frozen. I nearly could'nt open the pop hole this morning for the frost but I gave it a good yank and up it popped!!

We did'nt have our steak on Saturday but are going to have it tonight so Frank and Ros oh and I will be having the same meal.

I meant to say that Ihad another ridiculous parcel from Amazon last week. I sent of for a textured mat to roll clay on. Its 6" by 12" but the packing is a bit longer than the 12". I will send a pick of how it came.

MillymollyAmanda Report 20 Jan 2020 19:19

Evening all,

Not much of a frost here this morning i was quite surprised when i looked out the window i expected to see the car all white with frost like it was yesterday , we've had some lovely sun shine most of the day ,we had to go out in the car and the sun was so bright i had to wear my sun glasses .
Tomorrow son is coming to sweep the chimney ,the wood burner has been puffing out a bit of smoke , son did put the sweeping brushes up a week ago and got some soot down but he said he couldn't seem to get the brush right up so we bought a smaller brush to go on the rods and hope this brush will work if not we'll get some one out to have a look at it .

Jane i hope all goes well tomorrow with the next round of chemo and that all went well today when you saw the consultant .
That was good you had a good week last week and managed to get out to get some shopping done even if you had to take some of it back :-D
I too thought of you when i saw some blood oranges in the fruit and veg shop ,i bought some for son as he loves them.

So many posts to catch up with ,it's surprising how many there are when you miss a coupe of days ,i did see AnnG that you have been having a test of your air frier and you seem happy with the things you've tried so far .so that's good .

Ann do you try and go on your exercise bike every day ? i use to do five miles in the morning and five at night on mine but haven't used it now for a few years ,now it just stands in the back bedroom and is another thing to dust !!!

Mel what a big box to send your parcel in you'd have thought a padded envelope would have done for that .
I hope the eye's survive all the heat in the oven and don't crack .

Poor Ros i hope the doctors can find out what the problem is and get her sorted out.
Glad your happy with your new teeth ,shame you couldn't run them in on the meal yesterday :-(

Oh Vera poor OH hurting his ribs ,he'll need to rest up ,i hope you manage to get all the bits and bobs you need to your club meeting tonight ,you could have done with a shopping trolley to load it all in .

Gill i see you'e been busy in the garden ,i have a few little snow drops poking their heads through and there's still some rose buds nearly flowering .

I have been doing some crocheting from the book i bought ,Holly leaves ,a little mouse and some pine cones ,i'm quite pleased with them .

Gillx Report 20 Jan 2020 19:25

How daft was the packaging Mel, do you have to pay for delivery? If it's free at least you now have a box you can use to pack some of your makes in, so not all bad.

Thanks for letting me know you've sent the trainers Jane, I'll keep an eye out for the parcel. I was wondering if you'll be taking Chris's ipad with you tomorrow to.

I think using water on a roof that's been fixed doesn't always work either AnnG. OH tries a hose pipe but you never know which way the wind and rain are going to go so there's no guarantee the hose would imitate natural rain. I hope it's all fixed now. It sounds like you've been very busy. I just had a little bit of washing to do so it didn't take long and I did a bit of tidying in the garden, it was quite warm in the sun.

Sorry to hear about your OH's rib Vera, I hope he feeling better soon. It's a bit difficult to know what to do for the best as regards going abroad, especially after last time, but like you said there's lots of nice places to go to in the UK even if it's not the same, so hopefully you'll still have a nice summer holiday.

Gillx

Gillx Report 20 Jan 2020 19:34

Missed your post there Mandy, it's nice to see you on here again it's been a few days and I was starting to wonder if things were okay with you. I hope the chimney is swept better this time around and you don't have to get someone out. Hopefully the smaller brush will do the job. That's the problem with the winter sun, it's so low down it's hard to see through the car window. OH said a spring had gone in our car this morning so that needs fixing now, plus we need new tyres. All in all it's going to cost us almost £500 so not a good start to the year. We had to pay out for a few repairs last year, so it looks like we might be changing the car soon. I'd like him to buy a smaller car so I can start driving again, the one we've got at the moment is massive and after not driving for around 12 years I'd feel better in a car I feel I can handle rather than one that feels like the size of a tank lol

Jane Report 20 Jan 2020 19:35

Mel we always get riduclously big boxes from Amazon with the smallest of things in. Some small enough to even go through the letterbox !!.

Frank,it seems Ros needs that scan asap .Hopefully it can be arranged soon. Shame about your meal :-SBut at least your teeth are good :-D :-D

Vera, sorry that OH has hurt his rib and is in a lot of pain with it. Holidays abroad like you have had in the past may be off the cards as you say but a Cruise would be a good idea. I love a cruise but Chris is not keen .I have been on a couple of cruises .One with him when we went to the Norweigan Ffiords .That was just amazing.
I have no idea what we will do about holidays this year.Hannah and Gareth are giving us a 4 night break at a lodge at Foxton Locks nearby. This is our Christmas present.I am thinking of booking for around the beginning of April. There are 2 bedrooms so my Sister and her OH can join us which will be nice :-D.

Yes I am taking Chris's ipad to hospital tomorrow as it is so much smaller than my laptop.I have to be there for 9 so it is early to bed tonight. I need to sort out something to take to eat as you don't get a meal. Just a sandwich but I can't eat bread.

No doubt I shall pop in tomorrow whilst hooked up :-D I think Fitz is going to come in ot see me about 1 o clock . Chris will take me and stay a little while .James says he will bring me home . Night Night x

Oh dear Vera your poor OH how did he do that? Hope you got to wherever you had to go with all the stuff. Couldn’t you take the car or don’t you drive at night?
I reckon our Lanzarote holiday could be our last overseas one if even for the insurance costs.

They have now changed my home insurance to another name and added £20 for the change over. I wish these companies would keep to one thing.

They have changed my Saga thing too and are not doing the yearly things anymore so that now two things I have to sort out.

Hope we hear from Jane tomorrow on Chris's ipad. It will be much smaller for her to take with her and I hope all goes well tomorrow Jane. Sending love and positive thoughts. <3 <3 <3

Why did they change your insurance mel? Did they do it without asking you or have they been taken over by another company?
