Morning Frank AnnG and all,
We have a bit of the yellow stuff this orning out the back but once again grey clouds out the front so I guess the grey will win in the end.
Frank I think your space bar must have been asleep this morning when you posted your message but I still managed to read it all. Hope you went to bed and slept after that. Lets hope someone can sort out your RAC membership with the vouchers for you soon.
wonder what Mandy thought of our suggestions for the hamper? She should get some ideas from what we said.

Good morning Ann, and all,
You wouldn't want to know the night I have had, over this BL@@DY RAC. If I have tried once to renew the cover, I have tried over 20 times.I have a link that Conrad sent to me, but I still don't seem to be able get through the process. I am so annoyed with Jonathan, as he knows we rely on him as another SON, being that all the boys live away from the area. I can see I will have to go "CAP IN HAND" and ask him AGAIN.
You can gather, I am not in the best of moods this morning, so won't bother you with my thoughts and problems. Hopefully I will be more myself later in the day. then I will come back on and have a chat. xxxx

Afternoon All,
Still dry and sunny here just now but the wet stuff is due later.
Those Anthuriums are lovely showy plants Gill and it's a plant I have never had so didn't know what conditions suited them either. Fancy your mum saying that about the sale of her house when she dies without discussing it first with both you and your sister. It must seem as if they are sorting things out between themselves without involving you which is just the sort of thing my mum would do. It must feel quite hurtful, especially with all the work you have done decorating for her and sorting her garden out.
Frank could you not phone the RAC instead of doing it online? It might be easier and save a lot of frustration. Nothing is as easy these days! I stood and looked at the lightbulbs in Homebase this morning........who would have thought there could be so many types and shapes. lol.
Thank you Mel. We were up at 6.30am this morning to shower and get to the hospital early. Luckily he was seen before his appointment time which must be a first and after his teeth were x-rayed the consultant said with having osteoporosis, even mild, he should avoid having teeth out if possible and that his dentist could root fill his teeth and that he would write to him to say to do that. Apparently the treatment he has for osteoporosis can affect the bones too and in a small percentage of people will cause the jawbone to crumble and not heal properly in a tooth extraction. So he really needs to keep his teeth as good as he can now and is also going to discuss other osteoporosis treatments with the doctor as well. Afterwards he walked to Morrisons to meet me and we had a coffee before doing a bit of shopping.
Luckily I kept the basket and trivet from my old pressure cooker Mel and they fit the new one which is good,

Ann I did that with the microwave we had and still use them sometimes but can't use them in the micro we have now as its not a duel oven and micro and can't use any m,etal in it like I could with the old one.
Glad G was seen before his appointment as it gives you more time to do other thigs and not be hanging around for a long time. Interesting about not having teeth out because of osteoporosis. I had'nt thought of that. I do have bone degeneration which is why my teeth get loose. There is no decay they just drop out sometimes. Well they have in the past. Which reminds me I have to make an appointment with the dentist for both of us.

Evening all,
Oh dear Frank you had a restless night again i hope you've managed to catch up on a little sleep this afternoon . I wondered if it might be better for you to ring the RAC and perhaps they would be able to sort it all out for you ,i remember you had problems last year trying to do it on line .
Thanks Mel lots of lovely ideas for the hamper ,i think it might be a baking hamper as they like baking ,Chelsea made some nice Short bread over Christmas and when i went shopping this morning i saw lots of bits in Tesco that i could put in the box. I'm also going to make some Christmas Crackers this year ,the crackers just don't have much in them the hats always split and i thought i could get little bits to go in them for each person .
Oh Ann i don't like the thought of a root filling but if an extraction is going to effect the jawbone then it has to be done. That was good you hung on to the basket and trivet from your old pressure cooker and they fit into the new one ,i noticed DIL's pressure cooker is much quieter than mine . Isn't it annoying when you read through the instruction books for things and some of the instructions are for other models ,my washing machine came up with a code which meant the filter needed cleaning out and when i read the booklet it looked like there was a little hose pipe that you pulled out to drain it and then you could unscrew another bit to get to the filter ,son looked and no, mine only had the screw bit to get to the filter so he disconnected the machine from the water ,took the machine outside and opened it up out there well you should have seen all the water gush out ,it would have flooded the floor as you couldn't get a tray or any thing under neath to catch the water ,the filter was full of gunge and Max's hair from when i wash his bedding :-0 i always put it on a rinse after getting his bedding washed .

He had a root canal filling once before Mandy and because he hates injections he had it done without an injection!! :-0 No way could I have done that!! Not sure what he will do this time as 2 teeth need doing but I'm not going to mention it first.
I like your filling and passing the hamper between you idea Mandy and the idea of a baking one is good, although I like Vera's idea too. Yes bought crackers tend to be disappointing as you say, so some home made ones would be good as you could tailor them to each person as you say. I'm glad we aren't the only ones who seem to have big heads when it comes to putting the hats on! lol :-D

Mandy I have some cracker fillers that mum used to have. I have never thrown them away as I did use some for the crackers I made the boys and Em and Ed the year before last. I did'nt do them this year too much going on. Last year I got a good little thing for oh and for Ed's cracker. It was a small nail extracter and fitted the cracker well. I got it from Amazon. They have some nice bits on there at reasonable prices like the srewdriver with different bits that all fit inside.
Utility Portable Multifunction Pocket Pry Bar Stainless Steel Crowbar Tool.
79p and free delivery.
What I don't like about bought crackers is they all have the same things in them year after year even the expensive ones.

Morning all,
A bit brighter here this morn ing with a little watery sun. The three deer have been in the rochard this morning and are now up on my border, mum dad and baby.
Blister on my finger has started to go down and so far I hav'nt managed to burst it which is amazing. I had thought I would do it in the night. Not sure it would heal quicker if I did burst it or whether it will with the blister intact.
Must get the meat out of the freezer as I want to make a meat pie today.

Morning Mel, morning all
I've been so busy for the last few days I've not had any time to get on here. Yesterday we spent all day sorting out the bottom of the garden, in the end we were finishing off when it was almost dark, I didn't have a choice though as I'd blocked my way out so had to carry on moving the pot plants back to their original place so I could get out. All the pots needed attention, either cutting off all the dead bits from last year or weeding inside the pots. OH had piles of wood on the floor so he moved that to the side of the shed apart from two very long pieces that I lent up against the fence and put some pots in front of them so it couldn't be seen. The weather yesterday was so warm I didn't even have a jumper on and about an hour after we'd finished the heavens opened and it poured with very heavy rain, so that was timed right. I'm so pleased that job is out of the way now as it was a very big job. All I need to do now is cut back last years growth on a few plants in the borders and the same in the front, but with all the rain we had it's far to wet to do now. Today I've done loads of washing and OH has bought some more mould remover so he's in the process of sorting out around a few of our windows. I've had to open the back door and a few windows though as it's one of the triggers of my migraines, it also upsets Sandra to and can give her a headache, but the job needs doing so we'll just have to go outside if it gets to bad for us. OH said he'll be as quick as he can.
When OH went out to buy the mould killer and a few other things, he was shorted changed, he didn't noticed until he got home. It's not the first time this has happened so today I'm going to do a comparison on the food we buy and keep away from the shop he went to. I don't think I'm allowed to mention which shop it is but if anyone wants to know I'll PM you so you can all keep an eye out. I Googled the shop and apparently it's happening all over the country. One poor woman gave a £50 note and only got change for a £20, the till draw had been shut so she couldn't get her right change, she called the manager over and they said she'd have to wait until they did a till check at the end of the day as they did one when she was there and the till didn't tally but not to the value of the missing change. She never came back on the forum so I don't know what happened about it in the end. So as you can imagine OH and I are not happy bunnies at the moment and will be shopping elsewhere from now on.
To be honest once I started doing the comparison I found we were paying so much more for our shopping than other shops charge, so in a way her short changing OH has done us a favour. I do need to check everything else we buy though, which I'll be doing later.
I got to tired yesterday and ended up sick again last night, I felt tired but didn't go to bed straight away as it was on 8pm, I think in future I'll go to bed as soon as I feel tired no matter what time it is. I've been awake since 5.30am this morning, so I'll probably have an early night tonight anyway.
Yes, Ann I was very hurt and felt like I'd been pushed out by my mum and sister, I even said this to mum, but her reply was "Well I don't see it that way" I was quite proud of myself for keeping my cool with her as I was quite hurt and upset inside. This isn't the first time mum has tried to spoil our Wedding Anniversary and I said it's becoming a habit now where she brings the card and present around with bad news or tries to cause an argument. She didn't have an answer for that I suppose I can't change her, so it's best not to rise to it as it's gets me nowhere anyway.
OH needs me to move the plants in our bedroom so he can clean around the window so I'll catch up with the rest of the posts later.

Just tired to send my last message and my sub had run out so I've just had to sort that out. The payment request had gone to my spam folder, I don't know why that happened, it's never done it before. Never mind it's all done now for another year. Better go and move everything out of OH's way now as he's waiting.

Gill when you say you felt tired, was it a drained feeling> real exhaustion rather than weary? If so it could be a drop in BP or low blood sugar. Low BP can make you dizzy or sick. Please get your BP checked either with your GP or at a pharmacy that does it.
You did get a lot done and (typically) seems that you overdid it. I think part of your problem is knowing when to stop. Hope you feel OK now. Please PM me the name of the store your OH was short changed.

Good morning Mel, and all.I did a bit of you this morning Mel. Tried to lay in, as Ros was up and going to Stitchery do at 9.30. But as soon as I heard the front door close, I was up and showered,
I had my Monthly Injection yesterday, BY GUM MY BUMS NUMB. Every time I turned in the night it gave me gip, and is still sore this morning.
I roasted A BIG CHICKEN for dinner last night. I haven't seen one so big for years. We had roasted pots and parsnips, Swede, Cabbage Carrots and Peas. This morning I have stripped the meat from the Cold bird, ready for Ros to do a CURRY tonight.
She is out tonight at Choir Practise, So I have already recorded her Soaps.
Jonathan came round last night to try to sort out the RAC, He couldn't link up the page, so tried ringing them. CLOSED. As he is working from home today and will pop round about 1.00 pm to try again. I did RING them yesterday, and sent them an Email. the Email reply came this morning, saying someone will be in touch in the next FIVE WORKING DAYS. I couldn't speak to a HUMAN on the phone, So didn't leave a message.
Ros tried to make an appointment for me at the Drs. She was told to ring Monday or Tuesday, as the Dr. I want to see is fully booked. So another few days before I can see her.
I trust you are all keeping well, and not caught all the colds that are going around. Clear Blue Skys here, but it looks as though it could be cold outside, I'm not tempted to find out.
Back to my book for an hour, before Jonathan and Ros arrive. xxxx

Frank you are having trouble with the RAC again this year. I hope you can get it sorted today with Jonathon's help.
Gill I bet you did'nt stop to eat yesterday either you naughty girl. What have we told you about just having a biscuit or two in the morning or a slice of toast and something mid day and in the afternoon. You really should get into an eating pattern as it sounds to me like you have been forgetting again. :-| :-| :-|

Good evening everyone
I hope you are all enjoying your day. It was drizzly wet last night and first thing this morning but the sun came out later and it’s been very mild but windy.
Last night we were invited out to a buffet supper. The food was wonderful and there was so much of it. I should think the hostess will be eating leftovers for a month. My head is still a bit iffy so I stuck to the plainer dishes and just had a soft drink and water. All the guests were on good form so there was a lot of laughter and it was a lovely evening all round.
This morning I had a haircut and then met friends for coffee. One of the friends, P, told us a funny story. A couple of days ago she had bought some new short boots which she wore to the buffet last night. Like the rest of us, she took her wet boots off in the hallway. When she left she put on her coat and boots and drove home. When she took her boots off at home she noticed that they said “Hotter” inside which puzzled her as she was sure she hadn’t bought Hotter boots. She rang round various friends but no-one had an explanation so she took them back to the shop and told them they had given her the wrong boots. They clearly thought she was completely mad and explained that they didn’t sell Hotter footwear. While she was talking to them her phone went and it was our hostess from last night. P. had gone home in her boots! The two pairs were virtually identical, even though they were different makes. While we were laughing about that, another friend arrived, sat down at the table and suddenly screeched “Oh, my God” – she had come out in odd shoes – the same colour but different styles. I think my friends are all losing the plot :-D :-D
Frank, can you sit down yet or have you still got a numb bum? Have you managed to get your RAC problem sorted yet? Doing these things online can sometimes be very frustrating but you just have to take a deep breath, count to ten and STAY CALM.
A baking hamper sounds good Mandy and there’s a wide range of things you can put in and you can buy bits and pieces throughout the year as you see them.
You seem to like your new pressure cooker Ann. I must dig mine out from the back of the cupboard. I gradually stopped using it when I acquired a microwave, then a slow cooker and then a soup maker. It makes me wonder how my mother managed to produce such good meals with just a standard gas cooker. Your poor OH having to have root canal fillings. I wouldn’t fancy that with an injection, let alone without! My OH is like yours and never has an injection for dental work. Needles don’t worry him but he would just rather put up with the pain than go around half the day with a frozen mouth.
How are your fingers doing now Mel?
I hope the latest round of chemo hasn’t been too bad for Jane. I expect she feel tired out. If you are looking in Jane, I’m sending lots of positive vibes your way.
Now Gill, listen to all your surrogate mothers. You sound as though you have been overdoing it again. As AnninG says, you have got to listen to your body and learn to stop when you have had enough. It doesn’t matter if all the jobs aren’t finished and the house and garden don’t look perfect. Your OH and Sandra and your friends won’t mind and you’re not expecting the Queen to visit are you? You must learn to be kinder to yourself. Isn’t a horrible feeling when you are short-changed? It happened to OH a year or so ago at the place where we meet our friends for coffee. He gave them a £20 note and they gave him change for a £10 and the till was closed very rapidly. The Manager was not a bit helpful, wouldn’t check the till then, said he would do it after the place closed and OH would have to go back another day. They then insisted that OH had made a mistake and had given them a £10 but he had just drawn the money in the bank so knew exactly what notes he had in his wallet. Since then he always pays them by credit card, even if he is only buying one cup of tea.
Gill, I had a red anthurium which was a cutting from my sister-in-law. I had mine on a low table in front of a window. It got plenty of light but was not in direct sunlight. Each time a flower died I cut the stem back and another one or two would soon appear and it also got quite leafy. Unfortunately, after 2 or 3 years it also got scale insect. I kept cleaning it all off but the scale kept coming back so in the end I got rid of it. Perhaps you’ll have more luck than me and be able to keep it for several years.
Another long post I'm afraid. I don't seem to be capable of putting anything briefly. Time I went and started cooking dinner; chicken chasseur tonight.

I'll PM you the shop's name AnnG. OH went back to the shop a few hours later and got his missing change back, they said they are going to make her do more till training. I don't think that is good enough as I'm sure if anyone was caught stealing at the work place it must mean automatic dismissal so I'm going to email a letter of complaint and stop shopping there as it's not good enough. It makes me wonder how many other people have been short changed and how long she's been doing this for. Till training isn't a punishment and it looks as if the company don't care. She clearly is going to keep her job so what's to stop her doing it again in the future. I'm absolutely disgusted with the way it's been dealt with, or should I say not dealt with. I expect more from such a big company.
On a positive has anyone seen the news today? Greggs employees will each receive a one-off bonus up to £300 following a successful year for the business. Around 25,000 staff will receive the bonus along with their wages this month, costing the company around £7 million. How nice was that.
I didn't know if you cut the stem back after the flower has died away a new one grows Vera, thanks for mentioning it. Do you know how to take a cutting from Anthuriums? I'd love more of them, they are so pretty I've never heard of scale insects, so I've just Googled it. They look really creepy but at least I know what to look out for now. The one I've got is very small with hardly any leaves, I hope it bushes out a bit over time. What a funny story about the shoes, I'm still smiling now. I hope everyone got their own shoes back in the end and the woman wearing the odd pair didn't make the same mistake again, at least they were the same colour lol :-D :-D
I've started eating more than I'm used to but think I'm over eating which is making me feel sick. I just need to eat little and often from now on until my body gets used to it. Like I've said I've never been a big eater, so eating properly now will take some time to get used to.
Oh I forgot to say AnnG, I was just tired with all the fresh air and working most of the day. I would of stopped and left it for another day if I could of got out, but it was at the bottom of the garden where we have a bit of a secret garden and there's only one way in and out so I had to put the pots back as I'd blocked myself in. In future I'll start at the opening to that area and finish at the other end then I can spread the job over a few days if I need to as I'll be able to get out.........silly me, what am I like? :-S :-S :-S Definitely a lesson learn there.
Did you get your RAC sorted out in the end Frank, it's a nuisance when you can't talk to a human isn't it, I'm the same as you and would prefer to speak to someone rather than the way things are done nowadays.
There's been some good suggestions for the Hamper box Mandy, I was thinking of something to do with the garden, maybe some seeds and a few small plants that could be planted up outside, the children could then look after them and watch them grow. Sandra loves things like that and takes photo's once they're in flower. Your baking idea sounds good if they love baking cakes and there are so many things or could buy for that idea to. I was saying to OH how many things are on the market nowadays to decorate cakes with, when I was training we had to make everything by hand, so I'm a dab hand at making flowers especially roses for cakes now lol :-) :-) :-)
I'll PM you the name of the shop now AnnG
